Higher court fees won’t suffice

justicelady1The multiplying “what ifs” related to the state’s budget situation are sobering. This one comes Kansas Chief Justice Robert Davis, on what will happen if the state’s court system doesn’t get a $2.6 million grant it’s seeking in federal stimulus funds and is forced to furlough nonjudicial employees: “Children in need of care, persons seeking protection from abuse and protection from stalking, and persons and their families who are seeking mental health or substance abuse treatment all would be placed at risk.”

When the courts aren’t reasonably available then people turn to self help which has poor and often worse results.

Children and the mentally ill should have priority.

Those who have self-inflicted wounds caused by substance abuse should pay their way by using their own funds or working off their debt.

What about making people in family court pay for that? and maybe the courts need to look at what cases they try is it really worth it to drag bar owners to court cause their patrons play cards?

Aw He11, Obama is gonna bail out all the States.

    Don’t worry.

California went broke yesterday. They will get the first Dose of Obama Stimulus.

Course, once HE buys you, HE owns you.

(Nice touch Rhonda to make sure to include the FOR THE CHILDREN quote. Real heart tugger that is.)

I remember when CONs were contemplating amending the Constitution so “Ahnold” could run for president.

The problems in California go back to when the much beloved Ronnie Raygun was governor. I lived in Los Angeles at the time.

The fundamental problem that exists there now, however, is the ability of California’s voters to pass unfunded mandates. They can get a measure on the ballot and pass it into law, but it’s up to their legislature to find the money to pay for those programs. They can’t raise the money, but the voter’s will remains unchanged. Methinks the next sound will the the “reality check” bouncing.

You’re right about Reagan. St. Ronald did alot of damage in the name of God and Democracy. But then what do you expect from a man who tried to classify ketchup as a fruit?

    Another lie by another liar.

The ketchup as a fruit proposal was done in Congress in the late 19th and early 20th century.

You are entitled to your own opinion, you are not entitled to your own facts, especially when they are lies.

The budget problem can easily be solved. All we need is a tax increase on the purchase of firearms and bullets then have Obama mention that he’ll think about restricting gun ownership. Then all the rednecks will go on a spending spree shoveling millions of sales into the economy.
