You know what would be refreshing?

The next politician who gets caught with his hands in the pants of someone other than his wife – just flat out come forward and say:

“I don’t give a damn what you think about my private life. Like most Americans I am not perfect and my private life is none of your darn business.”

Stop this silly:

Crying
Apologizing
Sniffling
Asking their god for forgiveness

If they’d ditch the holier-than-thou righteousness, then I think people would just accept marital infidelity.

Judge them on their performance in Congress,
not in the bedroom.

Now, if they LIE about it and get caught – that’s another story. But again, if they just come clean, I think we could move on to bigger and badder things.

From an article about the Ensign Reed debate back in the day, doesn’t support what fleetie’s saying.
“Clear differences emerged during a series of questions from the audience. Ensign repeated his call for President Clinton’s resignation in light of his admitted affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Reid called the affair immoral but said he would “keep an open mind” and let the process proceed before deciding whether to impeach Clinton.”
Ensign also made the distinction between being accused of something and having admitted it, which was why he didn’t call for Vitter to resign, but did call for Craig to resign.
But, of course the fact that Craig would’ve been replaced by a repub and Vitter wouldn’t had nothing to do with it.
