The parents of Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., gave $96,000 last year to the staffer who was his mistress and to her family, supposedly “out of concern for the well-being of longtime family friends during a difficult time.” The payments roughly coincide with the resignation of the staffer and her husband, who has Ensign’s chief of staff, the Washington Post reported. Ensign had denied that he provided any severance payments or other financial assistance for the couple _ which, I guess, is technically true.

Oooh, here’s a hint. . .
If Obama was a republican, and even if he wasn’t crowned this past January,
The NYT would still have 20 reporters in Martinique.
Ensign had denied that he provided any severance payments or other financial assistance for the couple _ which, I guess, is technically true.

Still phoning it in I see.
Senator Ensign’s parents certainly are generous folk.
The most interesting part of the article was Senator Coburn saying that he shouldn’t be compelled to testify in any potential investigation by citing the physician/patient privilege. Why would a 51 year-old male need the services of an obstetrician?
In related news: C Street prostitution ring broken up, Sen. Coburn (R) Ok. identified as pimp.
In defense of Ensign’s parents, they’ve probably been paying off women for Ensign ever since he reached puberty!
What a pant load. This guy just need to go away.
$96,000

Why can’t I be a mistress?
Sounds like it was taken right out of an epsiode of Dirty, Sexy, Money.
Hmmm,
Who paid off Vera? We know it wasn’t Obama’s parents.
Well, if we knew for sure who Obama’s parents really were. (You always know who the mommy is!)

Maybe Barney Frank is in the market for a new plaything.
“Ensign’s father, Michael, is a former casino executive who earned more than $130 million in stock sales and stock options while engineering the sale of the Mandalay Resort Group, which he headed, to MGM Mirage. Michael Ensign has more recently sought to get back into the gambling business by teaming up with a development company in Topeka, Kan., to bid on operating a casino in south-central Kansas, according to news reports.”
——–
Know any casinos under consideration in south-central Kansas?
Maybe Barney Frank is in the market for a new plaything.
===================================
He better be payin’ more than $96,000….way more.
If a man’s parents are still paying for his mistakes when he reaches this age, why should we think he will ever mature?
“Daniel” asks –
“Why would a 51 year-old male need the services of an obstetrician?”
Okay.
That’s funny.
I’m not even gonna add the obvious “Because he is a p*ssy” joke.
Oh wait.
Sorry.
This is silly. Anyone really think it was just his parents?
He laundered the money thru them thinking he could cover it up.
Move along Ensign. In the old Vegas days you’d be in a hole in the ground in the desert by now.

If a man’s parents are still paying for his mistakes when he reaches this age, why should we think it’s anyones business but their own?
fixed it.
Hmmm, a Senator from Nevada…
Evidently, what pays in Vegas, doesn’t stay in Vegas…
Man, look at the libtards making a big deal out of a BJ.
hmmmmm.
More Republic “family values” …
Just more libtard hypocricy.
business as usual….

Let’s see, the Vera Baker story has been around since last fall. If it had legs, why didn’t Republicans use it? Too stupid? Or maybe SOME Republicans know better to run off at the mouth without some proof.
Minutelady, you got any proof?
You got nothing.
Where’s Vera?

Oh, c’mon, CONs –
Eight $12,000 checks so each can be reported to the IRS as a “gift” instead income?
From Mom & Dad?
To your concubine?
Now, given the historic corruption of the Nevada Repubic Party, you can almost sympathize with Ensign’s bewilderment someone noticed…this time.
But this isn’t about “hiking the Appalachian Trai” or “passing the ball” or even boinking your best friend’s (and loyal employee’s) wife.
No, this is about what it takes to become a “rising star” in the Repubic Party these days.
A wink and a “you betcha!” makes you vice-presidential material.
Finding your “soul mate” on a taxpayer-financed junket to South America doesn’t taint your “Family Values” agenda.
If Mommy & Daddy’s money got George WMD Bush outta Dutch, why should Ensign expect the same treatment?
And the CONs on this forum run not only to defend these fools, but to attack anyone who happens to mention these supposed “rising stars” in the Repubic Party are proving themselves to be bats#it crazy. And corrupt. And ignorant. And arrogant.
C’mon, CONs.
You can dance on the side of the floor where “George WMD Bush was never really a ‘CON.’” Or all those CONs “…are really RINOS!” Or, “The Moose-Dresser now has the world and the party and the media and David Letterman exactly where she wants ‘em.”
But don’t think for a moment you’re possibly fooling anyone but yourselves.
A couple of years ago, you “original intent constitutionalists” were ready to amend the Constitution so Ahnold the Governator could bring this nation to the Austrian Reich you’re all creaming about.
Down in Florida, Charlie Christ is getting attacks from twice-born CONs because he’s middle-aged, thin, and dresses well. (So, obviously, he’s gay.)
Boehner can take credit for highway projects in Ohio on Saturday, thanks to the stimulus package and go on Meet the Press on Sunday and claim the stimulus has “…created no jobs!” apparently unaware of the concept of videotape.
But the issue isn’t about the politicians, really. It’s about the people who tune into the Fakes Noise Channel and their daily Limbaugh-tomizations, and answer to every Beck and call… and think, somehow, they’ve got the inside track to reality.
Take a tip from your beloved NASCAR, CONs –
You can’t insist on turning right and win a race.
Is C Street really a disguised Repub. Ho House, no wonder the members sit outside smoking cigars (personally I prefer a cigarette, but to each his own.)

Actually this whole story is about libtard parent envy……
And like most of the leaders of the libtards poor munkey must not have had his parents around either….
I do hope ensign’s parents paid the gift tax and didn’t take the amount as a charitable deduction, less we all paid for ensigns hush money.
“Starting in 2006 the IRS determined that gifts under $12,000 per year were exempt from federal gift tax, which is an increase from the $10,000 limit set for years prior. If you give a gift valued over this amount your gift will be taxed at the current gift tax rate of eighteen percent. Federal gift tax laws also state that there is a lifetime deduction amount of $2 million. If you donate more that this amount in your lifetime than you will be subject to a forty-five percent gift tax rate.”
I guess if we could just prosecute this guy, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 would actually be working. Unemployment wouldn’t be 9.5 and rising, GM wouldn’t be government owned, Barney franks lover wouldn’t have had to have a bailout at freddies, homes would actually be worth something, the stock market would be over 12,000, 401ks would actually be worth something, we wouldn’t have any problem with closing club gitmo, Iran wouldn’t be getting a bomb, N Korea wouldn’t already have a bomb, we wouldn’t be appointing a racist to the SCOTUS, we wouldn’t be trying to tax ourselves out of global warming and we would already have FREE healthcare.
But hey, put a little air in your tires and paint your roof white. And don’t worry 95% of us americans won’t see a tax increase….
Worst
President
Ever.
Biased1–
A good example of the non-sequitor.
Just because we have many problems doesn’t mean we should overlook the ethics violation of a boss boinking his staffer.
If I remember correctly, a certain state prosecutor named Morrison had to resign when he did it.
Now it’s Ensign’s turn.
MonkeyHawk has got the SNL standup routine genre down pat. He’s pretty good at this art.
Unfortunately, his valueless ranting can be just as easily applied to the corruption in the Illinois Democratic party or the past escapades of John Edwards, Eliot Spitzer or even Bill Clinton or any number of bru-hahas on both sides of the political spectrum.
Not a speck of logical argument for anything ideological found here supporting Democrats. Just more 8th grade slams.
Yo Momma!
Moneyhawk, you and other liberals sure enjoy criticizing news outlets that do not uphold your personal opinions, but have you ever listened to Bill Maher on HBO or Kieth the Overthehill sports caster on MSNBC? These two guys and I am sure there are others are more one sided and opinionated than anything I have ever heard from Glenn Beck or Bill O’Reilly. Keith Olbermann is completely over the top and never delivers news rather he delivers hate and extreme far left liberal commentary. If you believe what these two have to say then all taxpayers should be more than happy to turn their hard earned paychecks over to Nancy Pelosi (the leader of the west coast cartel) and the Chicago mob (O’Bama’s cabinet and other appointees) because they know better than you as to how your money should be spent. In reference to your family value comments, I seem to remember a rather famous democrat that asked the question “it depends on what the word is means” during a White House sex scandal that liberals seem to have forgotten. Short term memory problem I guess.
Doesn’t Ensign, Stafford and Brownback all belong to the same Christian men’s club on C Street? Perhaps it should just be renamed a brothel?
“My Dear,” said the Senator to the lady, “would you go to bed with me for a million dollars?”
“Well, yes, I suppose I would,” she replied.
“Here’s $100. Let’s go then.”
“How dare you! What kind of person do you think I am?”
“My Dear, we have already established that. Now we are merely haggling over the price!”
***************
In this case, the haggling apparently ended quite a bit higher.
You have to wonder what kind of insanity gets into these guys. What an expensive (in many ways), piece of ahem… class.
As my high school football coach used to lecture anyone who would listen; “boys, think with your big head”.
“biased1″ comes up with –
“..this whole story is about libtard parent envy……

Thanks for acknowledging my status as a “leader.”

It’s all Clinton’s fault!!!!!
How can we forget the W.H. Clinton scandal when every week one of the repub. condemners gets outed for their own affairs. If we but only could!
Clinton lied under oath.
Ensign called on Clinton to resign because of the affair. For that matter so did Vitter, Gingrich, Sanford and Craig.
Guess which one of those guys resigned when it was found out they cheated? Zero.
Typical Republican hypocrisy.
I’m starting to wonder if the C in C Street, doesn’t stand for a four letter word!
Ensign called on Clinton to resign because of the affair.
__________________________________
You mean for lieing under oath.
Weeks later, Ensign would call on Clinton to resign. “I came to that conclusion recently, and frankly it’s because of what he put his whole Cabinet through and what he has put the country through,” he was quoted saying at the time. “He has no credibility left,” he added.
TRU DAT
From an article about the Ensign Reed debate back in the day, doesn’t support what fleetie’s saying.
“Clear differences emerged during a series of questions from the audience. Ensign repeated his call for President Clinton’s resignation in light of his admitted affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Reid called the affair immoral but said he would “keep an open mind” and let the process proceed before deciding whether to impeach Clinton.”
Ensign also made the distinction between being accused of something and having admitted it, which was why he didn’t call for Vitter to resign, but did call for Craig to resign.
But, of course the fact that Craig would’ve been replaced by a repub and Vitter wouldn’t had nothing to do with it.
Reid called the affair immoral
That’s gotta be a little bit embarrassing, to have white hair, a political career, and you’re parents still paying for you’re mistakes.
I don’t know if anyone, should have a political career, if mommy and daddy have to come bail you out.
You know what would be refreshing?
The next politician who gets caught with his hands in the pants of someone other than his wife – just flat out come forward and say:
“I don’t give a damn what you think about my private life. Like most Americans I am not perfect and my private life is none of your darn business.”
Stop this silly:
Crying
Apologizing
Sniffling
Asking their god for forgiveness
If they’d ditch the holier-than-thou righteousness, then I think people would just accept marital infidelity.
Judge them on their performance in Congress,
not in the bedroom.
Now, if they LIE about it and get caught – that’s another story. But again, if they just come clean, I think we could move on to bigger and badder things.
“Reid called the affair immoral”
But he called the congressman from Louisiana who got caught with bribe money hidden in aluminum foil in his freezer – a great American.

Still more LIES??? Cant you people get the message…. YOU LOST… Get over it!! All of your stupid little rants arent going to change anything…. OBAMA is your President, no matter how much it offends your OLD TIMEY sensibilities….

Of course, RFL, you forget something… I’m sure it must have been intentional… Every one of those individuals you list are NOT IN OFFICE… Not so much with Sanford, Vitter, Ensign, and others… THEY all continue to hold office…
now, how about you level the playing field, and see what you get… HYPOCRISY on your part is what you get….
Oh yea, so what if Clinton lied about the “affair” — I mean, you all keep saying what happens in these Republicans’ private lives should remain private… eh??
