Wright gets it wrong again

wrightpbs1The Rev. Jeremiah Wright tried to explain his comment that he had not spoken to President Obama because “them Jews ain’t going to let him talk to me.” He wasn’t successful. Wright claimed that he misspoke, and that rather than meaning all Jews he was referring only to “Zionists.” How is that better?

    Gore or the Unabomber?

    1. And tragically, since the onset of the scientific and technological revolution, it has
become all too easy for ultrarational minds to create an elaborate edifice of clockwork efficiency capable of nightmarish cruelty on an industrial scale. The atrocities of Hitler and Stalin, and the mechanical sins of all who helped them, might have been inconceivable except for the separation of facts from values and knowledge from morality.”

    2. “The modern individual on the other hand is threatened by many things against which he is
helpless: nuclear accidents, carcinogens in food, environmental pollution, war, increasing taxes, invasion of his privacy by large organizations, and nationwide social or economic phenomena that may disrupt his way of life.”

Good thing Obama could get a point of view that’s different than Wright’s from another close friend, frequent dinner guest & babysitter….Edward Said, former PLO confidant, Columbia Prof & Univ of Chicago Prof (where did Obama go to school, guest lecture at again..??)
Here a couple excerpt gems from the article on Said:
“The public knows Edward Said as the most prominent American supporter of the Palestinian cause, the onetime confidant of Yasser Arafat (until Arafat’s “capitulation” to the peace process), who
was famously and incongruously photographed—a Columbia professor in southern Lebanon—hurling a rock at a guardhouse on the Israeli border. But Said’s real influence has been as the founder of “post-colonial theory,” arguably the dominant intellectual paradigm in those sections of the academy dedicated to the study of non-Western cultures.
His views are presented, uncamouflaged, where few of his American admirers will read them, in the pages of the Egyptian weekly Al Ahram. There Said makes it clear that he sees the United States as a genocidal power, with a “history of reducing whole peoples, countries and even continents to ruin by nothing short of holocaust.”"

Apparently Gore blames technology and scientific discovery for the likes Stalin and Hitler.

    Why am I not surprised?

However, I wonder if Gore includes Darwin’s theory that preventing the weaker members of the human race from breeding might improve it’s over all strength has having any influence on Hitler declaring the Jews as “weak” and thereby seperating them from the rest of society?

That connection is logical except for the fact it it did not matter to Hitler if it was even true (it’s not). He hated the Jews and would have killed them probably without the help of Darwin’s theory.

Not sure how Gore can say that true scientific discovery and technology can be blamed for anything evil that human nature desires on its own.

The Left are big fans of Eugenics, as was Margaret Sanger, the promoter of population control through Eugenics and abortion. You know to control the undesirables.

Here’s a quote from one of Margaret Sanger’s pamphlets.

It is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them. Herein lies the key of civilization. For upon the foundation of an enlightened and voluntary motherhood shall a future civilization emerge

Pretty much identical to the philosophy of the Pro-Abortion crowd.

When Pat Buchanan said that Congress was “Israeli occupied territory,” the media completely ignored it.

I agree with Buchanan and Wright btw. The Israel lobby has way too much sway in our gov’t in general and with Obama specifically.

I’ve never been a fan of Rahm Emmanuel, and not because he’s a “Jew,” but simply because he’s power player, not a progressive.

When Wright talks about “them Jews,” we know who he means . . . the rich and the powerful who pull the strings. They don’t even have to be part of God’s chosen people to be lumped in with “them Jews.”

BTW, Saul Alinsky and Noam Chomsky are Jews. I’m pretty sure Wright isn’t talking about them . . .

  19. Posted June 12, 2009 at 4:21 pm | Permalink

BTW, Regular, there is no relation whatsoever between the content of Gore’s writing and Ted Kazinsky’s.

The former was talking about technology used for monstrous ends; the latter about the individual’s loss of control because of powerful forces like “big government.”

In that sense, the Unabomber sounds more like Ronald Reagan.

A question, though. Does it not seem possible to you guys/gals that Wright may have ever been more of a victim of racism than his “racism” ever victimized others? Does that seem at all possible to you?

Another sincere question, do white people have any damages they can reasonably point to that can be attributed to racism against whites?

I am just not seeing these damages. Just as a hint as to what I am talking about, no one ever lynched any of my ancestors because of the color of their skin. And to be so focused on the racism of people like Wright, just doesn’t do much for your cause. Can you dispute that?

Which absolutely proves my contention that bho only distanced himself because it was politically expedient to do, not because he was honestly appalled by wright’s statements.

sooo…stephen…you are saying that racism per se is not harmful? We need lynchings before you will accept that racism is hamrful??

No damages? How about the tens of thousands of white students who were denied college admission because of racial quotas? After CA dropped the racial quotas and based admission solely on merit, minority enrollment dropped substantially. The most qualified–regardless of skin color–should be allowed to advance. Quotas such as CA’ UC system are racist and harmful.

Steven – just so I’m clear on what you’re suggesting, reverse racism now is some kinda karmic reparations? Two wrongs make a “Wright”? (sorry, couldn’t resist…) This might sound cruel…but Muhamad Ali, getting off the plane after the “Rumble in the Jungle” with Foreman, when asked “How was Africa?”…responded “Thank God my grandpa got on the boat!” Not meant to be cruel, just pointing out the fact that although African American’s ancestors endured untold atrocities, their descendants today have a much better life than 99% of their African brethren (ie, see Obama’s Kenyan family…)
Is Wright a cat from a different time, when segregation was a national problem? Of course he did, the same as many elderly white folks that grew up with the opposite view. But it ain’t 1960 anymore…this nation’s done wonders to try and erase racism. You know what’s funny is Western Civilzation is the only place in history where white folks fought to end slavery. If you can name another historical people that was enslaved that was freed by white folks fighting for them, I’d love to hear it. The African Chiefs that were getting paid to betray their countrymen even sailed here after the Civil War to protest to DC about the “trade” being stopped.
The point with Affirmative Action is simply that maybe it’s run its course and maybe it’s time everyone just competes straight up.

Good point. The Rwandan genocide didn’t require any technology greater than machetes and some old rifles. Half-a-million dead in only a matter of a few weeks.

All it took was mass mobilization, stirred up via ethnic hatreds that went far back in history.
