Tiahrt vs. Obama-Pelosi

pelosiobamaRep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, hasn’t wasted opportunities to cast himself as preferable to his rival for the GOP Senate nomination next year, Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Hays. But Tiahrt’s first statewide TV ad in the race suggests he isn’t running against Moran but against President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and the “so-called stimulus plan.” The ad ends: “Help Todd Tiahrt stop Obama and Pelosi now.”

Jerry Moran has been an achiever throughout his life since his youth in Hays, Kansas. Tiahrt, a South Dakota drop out, has not. So who should Kansans choose for their next U.S. Senator? You decide.

Beware of high-powered, inside the Washington beltway, political marketing firms who will soon be operating in Kansas trying to win the hearts and minds of Kansans to vote for Tiahrt and Brownback.

    “JWink” –

If “high-powered, inside the Washington beltway, political marketing firms … will soon be operating in Kansas trying to win the hearts and minds of Kansans,” the Repubic Party is in far worse shape than I ever imagined.

As has been noted in WE Blog many times, you’re virtually assured in Kansas to be elected if you have an (R) after your name on a ballot.

If Toad Tiahrt and Sam (the Sham) need of “…high-powered, inside the Washington beltway, political marketing firms … operating in Kansas trying to win the hearts and minds of Kansans…” the whole CON movement is in beeeg trouble.

It’s too bad Tiahrt and Moran are running against each other and there will be a loser.
They are both excellent candidates, both of which I would like to see in office.

Monkey continues to cling desperately to his alleged “shock jock” past. Ignore him.

I am very impressed with Jerry Moran. He might be a less strident to Tiahrt. But both are good hard working people who would do a great job as Senator.

Tiahrt is against stimulus spending? For years he was ranting about how he was going to bring billions to Wichita to build tankers at Boeing. Now he’s saying he’s opposed to such spending? Yeah, kinda like how he was against term limits.

Tiahrt will say whatever he thinks will make him more popular. He knows that if he lies to the people there are enough stupid people who will continue to vote for him.

    “Maggotpunk” notes –

“…Tiahrt will say whatever he thinks will make him more popular.”

    It’s even more than that.

Toad Tiahrt is so embedded into DC’s Repubic Party apparatus of the National GOP.

It’s a safe bet Kansans will return to form and elect a freshman Repubic Party Senator who will be absolutely powerless in the Democratically-dominated Congress.

At most, Repububic Party voters in Kansas should consider voting for a Senator who’s not just a parrot of national GOP talking points; a viable voice of the loyal opposition.

No evidence at all Toad Tiahrt would be that voice. Moran? I dunno. Neither congresscritter has achieved any prominence in Congress when they’ve been there.

Moran should print up bumper stickers that say:

Moran — Not as Crazy as Tiahrt!

(Then again, that would probably alienate the crazy coalition of the Kansas Repubic Party; y’know, their base.)

Some dem should run against them. Play up the fact that if you vote republican, you’re voting against all Kansans having adequate health insurance, and extended unemploymnent benefits. It’s one thing to vote against your self interest when the state is doing well, quite another when we’re in a serious slump.

Well, children, it must be he11 to be a rabid dog liberal and live in such a backward State as Kansas!

Makes a little difference which wins, Tiahrt or Moran. However, Tiahrt is the best choice for Kansas.

If your a liberal take pictures, keep a journal and enjoy yourselves. This will be the ‘good ol’ days’ to you!

The chosen one is going to take you and your ilk down the drain with him.

Actually, Phantom, running against Pelosi and Obama is a very effective ploy. Moran is a good man, Tiahrt is just better.

By campaigning against the opposition party we are reminded of why we are sending a Republican to the Senate.

It is necessary for the survival of our country that we stop the socialist march to the left!

Until they abolish the 17th ammendment, Senators are nothing more than glorified house members.

I imagine that Senators need to get back to representing the state by becoming elected by state representatives.

This is how the founders intended it to be and for good reason.
