Ken Starr, a pillar of the conservative legal establishment, endorsed Sonia Sotomayor for the U.S. Supreme Court. That makes it even tougher for conservative groups to paint Sotomayor as a radical.

I’m sure the ‘Soda Mare’ will be confirmed.
Hmmm. . .Ken Starr? I’d think that would make it harder for liberals to confirm her!
C’mon…
CONs were opposed to whomever President Obama was going to nominate before he nominated anyone.
“Principled,” y’know?
Tougher? What kind of game is the media playing?
Of course the democrats have the votes to carry any nomination from “The One” to power. There has been no question on the ultimate outcome.
Trashing the minority party all the way to the vote?
The party of ‘NO’ looking more desperate all the time after being reduced to background noise. Thank goodness they own the media so they can be mentioned at all.
what trashing? Republicans said before Obama even nominated anyone that they would not support the person.
Looks to me and the rest of the country, the Republicans are the ones doing the trashing of their own party.
Are they all into cannibalism because it looks like they are eating their own to get those precious political points. One by one, the GOP leaders are putting both feet in their mouth and then having to run to Rush for forgiveness or having to confess to some extramarital affair!
The GOP is in bad shape right now. When was the last time 22% of the voters won anything?
GOP is also the Party of No Ideas. Did you get a look at their health care plan? Wow – a whole 4 pages and no details…
And then they wonder why no one is listening to them?
BTW – their health care plan looked alot like their budget. But to give them credit, the budget outline plan was 19 pages. Woohoo!!! Somebody must have been put in some overtime on that one!
” Wow – a whole 4 pages and no details…”
So, 11,500 pages is “more better”? And no details?
Our politicians are too word, our laws and IRS rules too long, and a million words does not make a better law.
No ideas? Yes, but your party won’t listen, doesn’t agree, and ABC doesn’t put them on television.
But you are a good repeater of the party line.
That should really worry you.
Called the Patients’ Choice Act, it would eliminate the tax break that employers receive for providing health-insurance benefits to their workers. Instead, it would give an annual tax credit of $2,300 to each individual and $5,700 to each family that they could use to offset the cost of their health insurance. Low-income families would get extra money to buy into private insurance plans.
The Republican plan introduced Wednesday shares some things in common with measures Democrats are pushing. Both parties want to create insurance exchanges that make it easier to comparison-shop for health-care plans. They also want to shift health-care dollars toward preventing chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, not just because it will make Americans healthier, but because prevention is cheaper than treating people once they get really sick.
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D., Mont.), who is leading the effort to draft a health overhaul, said that while this Republican measure meets many of his goals, eliminating the tax incentives for employer-provided health benefits “would destroy the employer-based health-care system we have today.”
So there is a republican plan.
The republican plan contains many of the features as the majority plan – but at much lower cost.
Stop repeating the liberal koolaid, and instead look at alternatives. Any good manager or wise person would look for alternatives, fresh ideas, different ideas, and less costly ideas.
Instead, libs drink from the koolaid and spout what they have heard others say. Sheep.
Nothing original yet.
amway:
How is that “let the market work” thing doing anyway? Let’s see, greatest economic disruption in 70 years, growing cost of health care and less good outcomes, growing disparity between the rich and the poor?
Does any of that seem like fresh ideas to you?
Amway:
Your idea of orignial is to go back to the tried and true GOP play book.
Try some new thinking of your own.
Lets see preordained1, how did that socialist experiment back in the 20th century work. Let’s see. 100,000,000 dead as a direct result of marxism/communism/socialism. Wrecked post world war II economies that never recovered while their western counterparts thrived. Vast amounts of treasure and blood wasted to defend against those who would force that very system on the rest of the world.
But I’m sure you will respond with same old line that was always used to defend the undefendable. “yeah but, it would have worked if only the right people had been in charge”.
1. Why do you Dem Libs CARE what any conservative thinks? You have the majority in Government and can do whatever the he11 you want.
2. IF you do care what a conservative thinks, then Starr’s endorsement of Sotomayor should scare the carp out of you.
And 3. If you think Starr represents conservatives, then you are exhibiting just another symptom of stupidity.
“Trashing the minority party all the way to the vote?”
You mean like the Republicans did to the Democrats from 1994 to 2006?
Like that?
What goes around, comes around.
Two points –
1. SCOTUS nominees have both pleased and disappointed presidents. NO ONE knows for sure how one will preside in advance.
2. I have enough confidence in intelligent Americans, no matter their political philosophy, to think they don’t need to walk “party lines.”
Chris,
The commies are coming! Quick! Run! Hide under the bed!
