Hand it to Brownback

brownbackmug7Even though the Senate seat he’s leaving next year has sparked a GOP family feud, Sam Brownback appears to have broken a cycle of GOP gubernatorial primaries going back at least six elections. The Kansas City Star’s Steve Kraske hands it to the two-term senator in a column on today’s Opinion page: “Brownback has salted his conservatism with just enough pragmatism to give pause to even die-hard skeptics,” Kraske writes. He concludes: “Brownback is off to Cedar Crest. Here’s betting that with a few years of executive experience, he’ll try one more time for residence in another mansion — that big, white one in Washington, D.C.”

He’ll be AWOL even more than Sanford, conducting his love affair with trying to get in the WH. We don’t need our own embarrassing AWOL gubernator.

I think it’s an interesting subject, returning a conservative Republican to the governorship!!!
But you won’t get many comments from the DimLibs for even they, as seemingly clueless as they are, know his going to take it.

Yes, Kansas truly is a terrible place populated with a majority of not terribly bright people.

Oh I don’t doubt that at all. FORTUNATELY, Brownback is not viable as a national candidate. America is a secular, center left nation. “Governor of Kansas” can only hurt his resume.

Someday, perhaps in the not too distant future, Kansas will be better.

I mean, when I was a kid, it was illegal to consume an alcoholic drink while flying in a plane OVER Kansas. Until recently, you couldn’t buy beer on Sunday and now that has changed.

Someday, people will look at people like Sam Brownback and those who voted for him as almost cartoonishly foolish.
