Get ready for Gov. Brownback

brownbackmug6With Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh ending his long-declared campaign for governor Monday, saying that “a run for governor is not meant to be,” and the Kansas Democrats still without a candidate, Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., might want to start planning his 2011 inauguration. At this point, Brownback’s desired move from the Senate to Cedar Crest looks unimpeded.

One other tidbit on the gubernatorial front, from the Kansas City Star’s Steve Kraske: “Kansas Democrats are kicking the tires on a new name that’s surfaced for governor. That’s former CBS newsman Bill Kurtis, who resides, at least part of the time, at his Red Buffalo Ranch in the Flint Hills.” But Monday Kurtis told the Topeka Capital-Journal: “No, I am not running for governor. Not interested in it. I’m just trying to survive the depression. And judging from the success I’m having, I have no business handling anybody else’s money, let alone the taxpayers’.”

It’s a shame we’ll have this theocratic cult member working to run this state into the ground. If you thought things couldn’t get worse just imagine Brownback’s regime.

2011 is a distance on the calendar, we’ll see what the future holds as the time draw near.

Of course, let us not forget what MLK said about ‘content of their character’ and not draw conclusions based on ideological rifts.

Will Brownback change his title from Governor to Pope or Grand Inquisitor?

Surely somewhere in the large diverse state of Kansas, there is someone who can step up to run for Governor. The Kansas Governor’s office shouldn’t be a dumping ground for out of work hack politicians from the Beltway. Kansans would be better to draw names from a lottery of legislators, mayors and bloggers across the state.

People probably know they can’t compete financially with Brownback since he has friends at ‘The Family’ with deep pockets.

Thornborough’s pull-out is an omen the Kansas Repubic Party has finally become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Twice-Born.

Thornborough has won as many statewide races as Brownback.

His donors have told him they’re not gonna spend money opposing one who’s delicate balance of power depends on Holy Rollers and the people who’ve persuaded him to wear a barbed-wire jock strap.

    No problem, though.

Sam will spend all his governor’s term in Iowa anyway.

Obama will be God, JC, Moses, and Mohammed.

So why can’t Brownback be the Pope?

I do not agree with Brownback most of the time, but I had found two aspects that I have respect for him. One is he can be an effective speaker, passion and clarity. The other is he does stick to his core even when it is against him own best politic interests.
I do not think I would vote for him, but it might prove to be one of those incident where I would violate my hard held believe and not vote for anyone for that office. In a strange sense of respect for him. I can respect someone but still feel they would be wrong for government office.

    It’s gonna happen.

    There’s no stopping him.

Only Brownback can stop Brownback. He’d have to royally screw-up to not become the next Gov.

Too bad governor “leadership” left the KDP without the ability to find its ass with both hands.

Nice work kathleen. It’s hard to imagine you could leave the party in even worse shape than you found it.

It’s all about her. The party? Not so much…

The party, the people, who cares?

    It’s ALWAYS about them.

The politicians are in the game for power and money. Who thinks they really give a dam about anybody or anything but themselves?

As I’m sure every RWer on this blog will encourage me to do, but I can’t think of two better reasons to finally, finally get the bleep out of Dodge. I think I’ll start my own commune in New Mexico or someplace.

Daniel, there is a strong chance I will re-enter the race. I left do to the corruption and the blatant disregard for the Kansas Citizens. I have until June 10th 2010 to re-apply. I was at the Exploratory Capacity. I disagree with Ron Thornburgh that it takes Millions of $$$ too win. It takes Millions of $$$ to run. That is wrong. It takes ears, mouths, honesty, communication and openminded people to run, and to win. I will stay in touch. I am still reading, studing and reading the last Budget. I will stay in touch with all, HerbertIII at http://www.twitter.com west.herb@yahoo.com Herbert West 3rd.
