There are five keys to putting health care reform into President Obama’s “win” column, according to Politico: Put the bully pulpit to work. Keep it at $999,999,999,999. Decide if bipartisanship matters. “Let’s Make a Deal: Industry Edition” (meaning more things like Saturday’s $80 billion savings deal with drugmakers). Decide what he truly wants (“He has laid out three principles that leave plenty of wiggle room: Slow the growth in health care costs, expand coverage, and guarantee choice of doctors and private and public insurance plans”).

I don’t think you can slow the growth of health care costs without absolute control.
To do that, democrats would have to control to cut the wages of doctors, healthcare companies, drug companies, nurses, and everyone involved in an industry.
What democrats have done so far is promise the moon. I’m anxious to see them deliver.
I just watched an interview with a Senator from Utah, on health care and he solutions to the problems.
On the forty million Americans that are not covered by insurance? Simply, the Government mandates you to get health insurance as simply as that problem solved!
BUT here is the brass ring of that, the Government also mandates that if you have employer based health insurance. your company will now give you the money they spend to provide you with insurance instead of them spending it for you.
Can you see where this is a failing? Here I will lay it out, your company goes to an insurance company and said. “I have fifty employees what rate will you charge for an insurance policy for those fifty employees?”.
Better yet, let say your employer is a subsidiary of a larger conglomerate. So now they are going to the insurance company and now they have five thousand employees.
What does that mean for you? Well the money your company is now giving you for insurance. Is the amount that they are paying as a multiple rate. Otherwise saying that the amount is the rate divide by five thousand. So if they are paying five thousand a month for the insurance for five thousand then you will get ONE dollar!
But, now you are to go forth as a singular to find health insurance, you go with your dollar and ask.
“ I am by myself what rate will you charge me for an insurance policy?”.
With five thousand on a policy the company is going to make money since only a few of those five thousand will become ill. You by yourself are more likely to cost the insurance company so your rate is much higher then the company’s.
I have purposely left out the party affiliation of this Senator… It is too much of an embarrassment.
No really I argue that not all Republicans are just that stupid, even when Michael Steele send out an e-mail to all the news media with a link to a USA today article about fat cat key members who got millions of dollars in Stimulus money for their states. He asked, “Where are the jobs? where is this money being spent? Where is the benefit to the nation for this money going to pork barrel projects?”
The link was to an article with Thad Cochran’s picture at the beginning the Republican Senator from Mississippi.
The notion that the government can fix the problem is as absurd as the notion that most of the
uninsured don’t want health insurance. Health care
is an industry ripe with fraud. I think that what
we need is price controls on the entire industry from doctors to drug companies to hospitals to insurance companies to trial lawyers. All need to
be regulated and controled. What Americans want is
health care they can AFFORD!
Well here is your example of the government option at work. Massachusetts has the forced gov. option and everyone has to take it or the state pays and taxpayers cover it. So guess what happens. State starts cutting money.
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/06/24/state_cuts_its_health_coverage_by_115m/
Now realize when the state starts cutting, since they pay…then YOU DONT GET ALL THOSE SERVICES you wanted. This is called RATIONING.
And with much higher unemployment…guess where these folks now get their MANDATORY insurance…they are all now on the gov. program and no money to pay…so AGAIN budgets cut…so MORE RATIONING.
Be careful what all the peasants ask for…for they may not get ANYTHING at all.
So MrClean-
HOw much should a generalpracticioner make? A surgeon? A Neurosurgeon? A nurse? A research chemist? You decide
89% of Americans said they were satisfied with the quality of their own health care
SO WHY ARE DEMOCRATS FUQKING WITH IT?
http://www.kff.org/kaiserpolls/upload/7572.pdf
lj,
They should get the same pay they now get from Medicare. And medicare should get to negotiate quantity prices with the drug companies and medical suppliers. If you want to tip your surgeon or pharmacist, that’s okay by me.
From the Kaiser study you tried to summarize and over simplify:
• An overwhelming 80 percent of the public is dissatisfied with the total cost of care in the nation, including six in ten (58 percent) who are very dissatisfied with costs.
Among the insured, six in ten are at least somewhat worried about being able to afford the cost oftheir health insurance over the next few years,
Slightly more, 28 percent, say someone in their family has delayed care in the past year
The majority of Americans who reported having a problem paying for their care actually have health insurance (69percent of those with problems had insurance coverage.)
Slightly more than half (54 percent) of the uninsured say the main reason they don’t have insurance is that they can’t afford it. Another 15 percent have been refused due to poor health or age. Only 4 percent said the reason they didn’t have insurance was that they didn’t need it.
That’s why the Democrats are fixing it….
35 percent of the uninsured make over 50,000 dollars per year.
It’s all about choices.
Why do you CHOOSE not to work there Regular?
“89% of Americans said they were satisfied with the quality of their own health care
SO WHY ARE DEMOCRATS FUQKING WITH IT?”‘
Because many of us have no health care and health care is an entitlement.
More numbers they seldom talk of when this pseudo fact is put out: This “47 million not covered” is not what it seems.
1. 15 million of these are ILLEGAL ALIENS…so f**k them.
2. 10 million are young folks that refuse to buy it since they dont need it anyway.
3. 8 million make over 75,000 but REFUSE to buy it though they can and CHOOSE not to. So, if they get sick – f**k them too.
4. So we could work on the rest at a much smaller cost – this group is also transient. Between jobs etc and the permanent disabled etc. Could use current medicare and fund it correctly.
But still much less than this plan.
Oh, Obama is lying to you when he says YOU CAN KEEP YOUR current insurance and they wont take it away.
That may be true that the gov wont take it…but your company may – They will see the new gov plan as a way to get rid of their share of costs and get rid of it and simply pay taxes instead of messing with keeping your current medical insurance.
But the real reason the Left want nationalized health care is so they can control what you do. It always about control. Do you think they will allow you to go skiing, go racing, go sky diving.
Not a chance. Can you eat your Twinkie, or tax it. This is what Liberal Fascism is in a nut shell.
And this nut is a really big Leftist. Many of the young have never seen the left at work. They have been out of power for many years.
My daughter is just aghast at what she is seeing in the background of this administration and the bureaucrats they have installed within the government.
Been digging around on who is paying for this Obamacare campaign. People going door to door and all the advertisements.
Seems we have some of the usual suspects. Except this time the BIG money is coming in. The TIDES foundation is ponying up. This is a far left foundation that funds a lot of the really far leftists, such as the National Lawyers Guild which is very “comrade” friendly as is the United Peace and Justice group.
MoveOn, of course, is the recreational political vehicle of radical liberal sugar daddy George Soros. The magnate’s financial fingerprints are all over the HCAN coalition, which includes MoveOn; the action fund of the Center for American Progress (a Soros think tank); and the Campaign for America’s Future (a pro-welfare state lobbying outfit).
HCAN has a $40 million budget, with $10 million pitched in by Atlantic Philanthropies – a Bermuda-based organization fronted by Soros acolyte Gara LaMarche. Also in the money mix: Notorious Democrat donors Herb and Marion Sandler, the left-wing moguls who made billions selling shady subprime mortgages and helped Soros fund his vast network of left-wing activist satellites.
By their side is billionaire Peter Lewis of Progressive Insurance, whose “Progressive Future” youth group has dispatched clueless volunteers armed with clipboards and literature bashing Rush Limbaugh and Fox News to scare up support for Obamcare.
And two more left-wing heavyweights joining the HCAN parade: the corruption-riddled SEIU (which has battled numerous embezzlement scandals among its chapters across the country while crusading for consumer and patients’ rights) and Obama’s old chums at fraud-riddled ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
ACORN and HCAN are linked by left-wing philanthropist Drummond Pike, who heads the non-profit Tides Foundation/Tides Center. As the tax disclaimer for HCAN discloses, “HCAN is related to Health Care for America Education Fund, a project of The Tides Center, a section 501(c)(3) public charity.” For decades, the Tides Center and its parent organization, the Tides Foundation, have seeded some of the country’s most radical activist groups of the Left, including the communist-friendly United for Peace and Justice, the jihadist-friendly National Lawyers Guild; and the grievance-mongering Council for American-Islamic Relations.
Pike is the same philanthropist who assisted ACORN founder Wade Rathke after his brother, Dale, was caught embezzling nearly $1 million from the community organizing group. Rathke sits on the Tides Foundation board of directors. In a conspiracy to cover up Dale Rathke’s massive theft of funds, Pike volunteered to buy a promissory note worth $800,000 to cover the debt. These are the populist do-gooders supposedly looking out for you and your health.
Why do they want Obamacare? An internal ACORN memo I obtained from August 2008 makes the motives clear. “Over our 38 years, health care organizing has never been a major focus either nationally or locally for ACORN,” wrote ACORN Philadelphia region director Craig Robbins. “But increasingly, ACORN offices around the country are doing work on health care.” The goal: “Building ACORN Power.” The memo outlines the ACORN/HCAN partnership and strategy of opposing any programs that rely on “unregulated private insurance” – and then parlaying political victory on government-run health care “to move our ACORN agenda (or at least part of it) with key electeds that we might otherwise not be able to pull off.”
The objective, in other words, is to piggyback and exploit Obamacare to improve and protect their political health. The “grass-roots” movement is not about representing Main Street. It’s about peddling influence and power on 1825 K Street.

What a crime.. Republicans never take money from special interests to advance THEIR agenda… oops.. Newt’s group’s largest source of funds is Peabody Coal… grrr… but surely that is the only exception.
“Notorious Democrat donors” heehee
Skiing and sky diving and racing will be outlawed??? WHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!
Aww, don’t fill your daughters head with your nonsense… she’ll turn liberal for sure!!!!
I am watching the Obama special on medical care.
I agree that doctors are spending a buttload on treating SYMPTOMS till they can’t treat symptoms any more. Case in point, my daughter had her gall bladder removed today. She had complained for a long time, they treated with drugs, they did this, they did that, and now finally she had surgery. How many trips to the doctor could it have saved just to go ahead and do the dang surgery instead of wasting time on nonsense?
Not only that, but we requested they take her appendix at the same time. They refused. WHY? So she can go through another surgery later?
It is proven the more someone is put under, the more risk it carries. Lets get back to common sense, stop just TREATING things that are easy fixes.
Just fix it.
Another example is my back. How long now have I been trying to get out of pain for my back? We’ve gone through my entire health savings plan in treating that alone, and now I have nothing left for surgery.
Yeah that is one thing I don’t want to see, we’ve got enough government intrusion into our lives, STOP picking on people’s life choices. Everyone has something they shouldn’t do.
“Because many of us have no health care and health care is an entitlement.”—BlowJ
Oh no it isn’t, to say so makes it an obligation on someone else. BlowJ wants to put a gun to someone elses head to get what he won’t provide for himself.
Get off your butt and work for your own health care like the rest of us do. You are choosing to not provide for yourself or your kid, and teaching him to be the same kind of worthless parasitic slug on others.
I wonder if medicine could fix P_mama’s mental illness with a surgical lobotomy.
The surgery on your daughter carried much more risk than treating with less aggressive alternatives, which are usually the best choice to try initially. If she would have a bad outcome to anesthesia or the surgery, as my daughter-in-law had requiring an emergency flight to K.U. in K.C. from Wichita to save her life, P-moma might see things differently.
But I vote for the lobotomy.
