While many other Wichita entertainment enterprises have come and gone, the Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre has endured and endeared itself to Wichitans for 32 years, with a tenacity very much like that of its late founder Ted Morris. Now, just days after it looked like the Crown’s long run was over because of the economy, an anonymous investor and new management team plan to keep the theater going. That’s a relief for those who work at the 81-year-old former vaudeville house. But it’s also a relief for Wichita, which sorely needs a place to go year-round to enjoy a meal, laugh, song and dance.

It’s entertainment, it’s fun, it’s the Crown.
Lot of great songs, lyrics, scripts and plays have passed under the Crown’s roof. Baked chicken dinners with comfortable seating, while Thespians quotes their lines.
It’s a place were men can be gentlemen and women can be ladies, each donning attire suitable for the occasion, awaiting to be entertained and that they will be.
“enjoy a meal, laugh, song and dance”
You people in Wichita laugh? All I ever see here is lot’s of whining and crying. Lot’s of anger too.
I dunno…
Ted Morris was a force of nature.
I’m not sure the Crown Uptown Theatre can replace his courage and guts and dreams and business sense…
He served a decent meal and knew how to delight his audiences… in WICHITA! I’ve been in conference rooms when the average IQ in the room doubled when Ted walked in.
I hope — and wouldn’t be all that surprised if — Ted left behind his plan to keep the Crown Uptown open after he was gone.

That must have been at a WEblog lib meet up.

Damn AmWay, you have made semi sense for quite awhile. You have made some pretty good arguments, and had excellent points. I don’t check out all of these blogs, so I might have missed out on your real personality, but this one sucks.
I didn’t realize you weren’t in Wichita, And I don’t have a clue why you would be worried about what we do here in Wichita, but if the only thing you have to judge us is this blog, you are sorely missing. We do laugh. We have all kinds of good times. If I knew you I would invite you to our 4th of July celebration. I garauntee a good time.
