Actually, this secessionist movement’s no more realistic than the one right after Brown vs. Board of Education. The south didn’t end up rising after that one either, although they made even more noise then.

If they are sincere about “Original Intent,” regarding constitutional interpretation, every white male property-owner has the right to keep and bear a smooth-bore muzzle-loaded flintlock-fired musket on behalf of a well-regulated militia.

That probably doesn’t include an AK-47.

So it takes “activist” judges to interpret the 2nd Amendment in any other way than smooth-bore muzzle-loaded flintlock-fired muskets.

A lot of the polarity of American issues is due to CONs’ playing with words.

Has there ever been any dead person object to the “Death Tax?” Illegal Abortion advocate Sarah Palin seriously considered a legal abortion ’til she made a choice.

The government should not be given its almost infinite power to pick anyone off the street and hold them in prison without the right to habeas corpus or trial by jury. Even if you think they are a foreigner or “terrorist.”

O.J. got off the first time (and I wasn’t pleased) because he was given his constitutional rights. CONs would forfeit all constitutional rights for everyone (except them) if it served their political agendas.

It’s not nascent. Our wingnuts have never been fully American in the sense that they support our Constitution (except for the 2nd Amendment).

Gov. Parkinson will do a fine job as governor, if the Legislature will “play nice”. It appears the Moderates will work with him but it remains to be seen if the far right will.

I suspect new Kansas Governor, Mark Parkinson, will find his own pathway quickly enough now that Gov. Sebelius has moved on to the Washington beltway.

Interesting comment by former Senator Robert Dole since he and Senator Arlen Spector both spent teenage years in Russell, Kansas. Spector, of course, spent his younger years here in Wichita on south St. Francis or south Emporia streets until his parents moved to Russell.
