As the new ranking Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, will Sen. Jeff Sessions (in photo), R-Ala., be tempted to settle some old scores in the process of dealing with President Obama’s first nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court? Sessions saw his own nomination to the federal bench by President Reagan go down in committee 23 years ago. In the process, reported the Washington Post, “a career Justice Department lawyer testified that Sessions had once called the NAACP an ‘un-American’ group, while another raised issues about remarks Sessions made about the Ku Klux Klan,” and Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., called Sessions “a throwback to a shameful era.” Sessions told Fox News that he let Obama know the Republicans on the committee would treat any nominee “with respect and give him or her a fair hearing.”

That’s it media and liberals: Attack the person.
Destroy their character. Ignore the facts. Refuse to publish the details or content of the nominees, the process, or the debate.
First always: Attack the person.
“American_Way” –
Quit playing the victim card.
And conservatives will just ignore the facts. Sure the guy has a history of being a racist but pointing that out is “ignoring the facts”. Exactly what facts are being ignored?
Better word for “facts” may be “issues”. Right now, we don’t have a nominee to discuss factually. The issues surrounding that nominee – and facts are what’s important to America’s future.
And it really isn’t an issue at all. With a majority in both houses of Congress and the Prez, there will be no consideration of the right.
You won. Your guy is going to the supreme court.
So, this is simply an attack on a member of congress – who is republican.
Now once again, where is your concern about the ongoing investigations of wrong-doing by a half dozen leading democrats serving in and out of Congress?
See how that works?
Besides, Obama’s administration has called anti-abortionist Christians, anti-illegal immigration activists, tax protesters, and others as possible terrorist organizations..
And you are upset and crying about a comment about the NAACP made years ago?
Shall we go back to democrats who were supporters of the KKK (against civil rights) and some of their comments?
“But, oh no, the others loved the Constitution more, they loved liberty more, “
This is Jeff Sessions on the Senate floor, I happen to be watching that day and my jaw hit the floor. If the Senator does not think that such things are what makes America worth defending just what does he think is worth defending? If he does not think these thing are worth defending do we really want such a person on any committee that involves the judiciary? If he does not love the Constitution or liberty how can he believe in the America system of law?
WD, what are you writing about?
hahaha!
Now duh Dems will understand that one person on a committee can make a difference when it comes to bringing something or someone up or prevent a vote to the floor of the Senate.
Of course, when it comes to a Democrat like Barney Frank who was on a committee, his vote had no influence on defending Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, right Dems? Right?
right….
Barney Frank House Financial Services Committee used his congressional office to fix 33 of Steve Gobie’s parking tickets. Frank confirmed that he paid Gobie for sex, hired him with personal funds as an aide…….
New York Rep. Charlie Rangel is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee in at least four areas, including his reported failure to properly report income taxes on a Caribbean villa in the Dominican Republic; use of four, rent-controlled apartments in Harlem; questions about an offshore firm asking Rangel for special tax exemptions; and whether Rangel improperly used House stationery to solicit donations for a school of public affairs named after him at City College of New York.
California Rep. Jane Harman allegations that she offered to help seek reduced charges for two pro-Israel lobbyists suspected of espionage in exchange for help from a pro-Israel donor, also suspected Israeli agent, in lobbying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to give Harman a key chairmanship.
California Sen. Dianne Feinstein accused she devised legislation that helped her husband get a federal contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms.
Pennsylvania Rep. Jack Murtha, is facing a federal probe for purportedly steering defense appropriations to clients of KSA Consulting, which employed his brother Robert, and the PMA Group, founded by Paul Magliocchetti, a former senior staffer on the Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Defense.
Now, John Edwards is facing a federal inquiry. The two-time Democratic presidential candidate acknowledged Sunday that investigators are assessing how he spent his campaign funds _ a subject that could carry his extramarital affair from the tabloids to the courtroom. Edwards’ political action committee paid more than $100,000 for video production to the firm of the woman with whom Edwards had an affair.
Senator Menendez was under federal investigation for earning hundreds of thousands of dollars from renting a building to the North Hudson Community Action Cooperation – a non-profit organization for which he helped secure federal funding.
Bob Filner was charged with assault and battery on August 19, 2007, following an incident at Dulles airport. Filner allegedly “attempted to enter an area authorized for airline employees only” at a United Airlines baggage claim office, and pushed an airport employee trying to stop him.
Ethic Committee member Alan Mollohan under investigation for using the “earmarking” process to direct contracts to non-profit organizations headed by both campaign contributors and business partners. One report notes that Mollohan aided in giving at least $179 million in U.S. government contracts to twenty-one nonprofit groups and companies that gave $225,427 to the Robert H. Mollohan Family Charitable Foundation, for which Mollohan is secretary. In addition, it is alleged that Mollohan helped direct earmarks to a non-profit group headed by his business partner. During the time these earmarks were delivered, public records indicate that Mollohan’s personal wealth grew exponentially.
But the Climate of Corruption only apples when the word, “Republican” is attached to it.
I like apples.
No matter what he’s now saying, he’ll do the repub obstructionist thing.

Uhm, the thread header was not an attack on Sessions.
Your assumption that it is more revealing of the bias with which you read the header than what it actually said.
You really don’t get Rhonda Holman, do you? Clue, for the most part, she is on “your side”.
Well, this is an unwelcome side-effect of the Specter jump; at least he was someone who had a good working relationship with Patrick Leahy . Hell, even Orrin Hatch would have been acceptable. Sessions is an extremist hack prone to spouting predigested rhetoric.
But time will tell if Sessions is up to doing anything other than supplying the usual throwaway neocon rhetoric and obstructing the process. If he applies the Golden Rule (keeping in mind his own failed nomination), that will be a good start. If he actually asks intelligent questions, that would be a bonus.
P.S. AW, not sure what crackpot sources are supplying you all the ominous rumors about the terrible things Obama is supposedly doing. But I care even less.
P.S. I prefer oranges.
I love lamp.
I heard butt love smells bad.
Now duh Dems will understand that one person on a committee can make a difference when it comes to bringing something or someone up or prevent a vote to the floor of the Senate.
Actually, the same people are on the committee. The ranking member changed, which is something more important that just “one person on a committee.”
And only in the Senate can a single lawmaker block a bill (and only temporarily). In the House, you have to be in leadership, or a committee chair, to do that. Barney Frank was neither in 2001-2006.
Anti, darn it! You got me laughing at myself again.
QUIT THAT!!
“You really don’t get Rhonda Holman, do you? Clue, for the most part, she is on “your side”.”
My post had little to do with the WEBLOG editor who cut and paste the information.
You too are not “content driven”. Attack!!!
Attack!
Draw out your swords and shoot each other!!!
I love lamp.
Python or Perl? :)
Burgundy, Ron Burgundy.
“My post had little to do with the WEBLOG editor who cut and paste the information.”
So, this thread just elicited a broad slam on “liberals” and “the MSM”.
Translation, simple irony impairment.
Carry on then.
