“Local chambers of commerce in the state are great,” Gov. Mark Parkinson said in an interview with the Topeka Capital-Journal, noting how he used to be president of the Shawnee Area Chamber of Commerce and was president of the six chambers of commerce in Johnson County. But he doesn’t have a similarly positive opinion about the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, which he described as “very, very conservative.”
He said: “I disagree with the approach of the state chamber on a variety of issues. I believe that ultimately the way to grow business in our state is not just to create a good business climate — and that’s a part of it, taxes are a part of it — but it is also to create a great quality of life. Businesses and people move to Kansas because we have great schools, because we have great roads.”

Here’s my economic development strategy:
Triple our K12 payments.
Let’s make a four-lane highway to ever two-horse town in Kansas.
People will be streaming into Kansas.
Parkinson: dolt.
Slow down, you move too fast
You’ve got to make the morning last
Just kickin’ down the cobble stones
Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy!
(La,la,la,la,la,la, feelin’ groovy)
Hello, lamp post, whatcha knowing?
I’ve come to watch your flowers growing
Ain’t ya got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in’ doo-doo, feelin’ groovy!
(La,la,la,la,la,la, feelin’ groovy)
Got no deeds to do, no promises to keep
I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you, all is groovy!
(La,la,la,la,la,la, feelin’ groovy)

The Kansas Chamber of Commerce is exactly what Parkinson says it is, a joke. It has become a vanity organization for the most extreme self proclaimed libertarian and free marketeer conservative activists, and not an actual, functioning chamber of commerce. It is concerned with cutting taxes and defunding “big government” (translation, pretty much any government at all), period. It is not concerned with the actual economic climate in Kansas, it is certainly not concerned with promoting Kansas (in fact, if they have any effect in this area they probably drive business away).
The last time the ‘jawless fish’ fish visited a Chamber of Commerce was to look for ’seedless gardening’ tips for the Cannabis grower.
The KCC has never represented the small business owner in KS. They have opposed any initiatives that benefit their rank and file members. Koch Industries runs the chamber with the help of big agribusiness and multinationals.
Follow the money.
The KCC (Koch Chamber of commerce) along with its fellow travellers in KTN and AFP would gut all public infrastructure spending while increasing subsidies for their favored developers. They would have Kansas (and America) follow the example of Haiti and then we could prosper like Haiti.

That’s really what it is. And like I said, as a state chamber of commerce it is a joke, and bad one at that.
Notice he didn’t say ‘because we have great air’.
Repubs will be moving into the Holcomb area, to breath the fresh country air.
