Speaking of, the Jenny McCarthy body count is up to 163 deaths.
http://www.jennymccarthybodycount.com/Jenny_McCarthy_Body_Count/Home.html
For this the woman who smokes and injects botulism into her face is going to have her own show, thanks to Oprah, to spread her message about how we need to live our life using only natural things. The body count should jump.
Shh, Shh … It’s now in writing: The United States government borrows 46 cents of every dollar it spends. This money is borrowed from China, Japan and even individual borrowers who somehow see this as a conservative place to park their funds.
The bottom-line is the whole “stimulus spending” scenerio is a complete farce … the stimulus funds are being borrowed from the Chinese for interest in a volume of payments that will keep this nation indebted to China, Japan etc for many years into the future.
General Douglas McArthur is probably spinning in his grave.

It is my greatest hope, that during this coming night, the likes of ANTI, Box, the Prices, Regular, AmWay, JimJohnson, OK/KS Grannie, Golfnut and others of their ilk, pass away and stand before their Maker with such hatred for their fellow man in their hearts that they display here, and have to explain “what’s so funny about peace, love and understanding.”
Hey Clark: I’m still here!
If you are sober and not stoned, perhaps you can provide some background to support you post about me. Can you show me my “hate” posts? Or did you just open up the Office of Homeland Security handbook and find those opposing views which now constitute terrorism in America?
Otherwise, you are not only a left over hippie minus a few million brain cells and a liar.

DID THIS GUY GET IT RIGHT OR WHAT?
By Neal Boortz @ May 12, 2009 9:03 AM |
George Will had another excellent column over the weekend, and a listener brought this paragraph of that column to my attention.
In “Democracy in America,” Alexis de Tocqueville anticipated people being governed by “an immense, tutelary power” determined to take “sole charge of assuring their enjoyment and of watching over their fate.” It would be a power “absolute, attentive to detail, regular, provident and gentle,” aiming for our happiness but wanting “to be the only agent and the sole arbiter of that happiness.” It would, Tocqueville said, provide people security, anticipate their needs, direct their industries and divide their inheritances. It would envelop society in “a network of petty regulations — complicated, minute and uniform.” But softly: “It does not break wills; it softens them, bends them, and directs them” until people resemble “a herd of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.”
Read it a couple of times. When you fully understand what de Tocqueville wrote find a government-educated friend and try to explain it to them. If you REALLY want a challenge find someone who voted for Obama – and has not come to regret that vote – and see if you can explain it to them.

…..effing sheep…..grasseaters.
Is that the same Neal Boortz that makes fun of the “poor poor PITIFUL poor” and says of them “pave ‘em over!”?
Why yes it is.
It would also be the same Neal Boortz who ofter describes his radio show as “turning a severe personality disorder into a reasonably successful career”.
Just like a good little sheep. He comes when he’s called. Adorable.

Things degenerated quickly on yesterday’s Open Thread per usual . . . but let me repost this here.
Seriously, I’m not baiting Regular nor am I calling him a loser.
He probably worked hard and provided many years of service to society in the military and in the civilian sector, and now he’s got a disability and he’s retired.
There’s nothing dishonorable about that–-far from it in fact.
I just wonder how he can hold the belief that “there’s opportunity for all in America” when his own experience shows that sometimes the only opportunity left is working as a greeter at Walmart.
It’s like GMC who hates gov’t and everything it stands for . . . that’s why he works for it.
Regular can’t seem to explain the contradiction of his own life and his rock-hard conviction that “there’s opportunity for all in America.” He has said repeatedly that employers won’t hire disabled people. SO, there really isn’t “opportunity for all,” is there.
This is a very important distinction in world-view between CON and Lib in my opinion.
If you claim that “opportunity is everywhere,” then you can blame the victims who just “can’t succeed in taking advantage of all that opportunity.”
Nevermind the systematic obstructions that many people face — bad home life, abusive parents, alcohol and drugs, poverty, physical or mental disability etc.
Libs believe we should mitigate those problems too.
Once again, the Capn has positioned himself as the ‘bidet’ for the liberal crowd, gleefully washing out the backsides of secular opinion baboons.
But there’s no dispute that on Feb. 4, 2003 — five months after Pelosi’s September meeting — CIA officials briefed Pelosi aide Michael Sheehy and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.), then the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, on the specific techniques that had been used on Zubaydah — including waterboarding.
…
According to the Pelosi confidant, Sheehy told Pelosi about the briefing — and later informed Pelosi, the newly elected minority leader, that Harman was drafting a protest letter. Pelosi told Sheehy to tell Harman that she agreed with the letter, the Pelosi insider said. But she did not ask to be listed as a signatory on the letter, the source said, and there is no reference to her in it.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22401.html
Once again, a poster raises a point that Regular can’t counter with rationality or logic so he gleefully responds with personal attacks.
Nevermind the systematic obstructions that many people face — bad home life, abusive parents, alcohol and drugs, poverty, physical or mental disability etc.

Remembering the Berlin Airlift
(24 June 1948 – 11 May 1949)
The Soviet Union blocked the Western force’s railway and road access to the western sectors of Berlin that they had been controlling. Their aim was to force the western powers to allow the Soviet controlled regions to start supplying Berlin with food and fuel, thereby giving them nominal control over the entire city.
The United States and the British Royal Air Force flew over 200,000 flights that provided 13,000 tons of food daily.

Regarding the post: Did this guy have it right or what?
The quotes from Alexis de Tocqueville sound exactly what the extreme right of the GOP have been about for as long as this 60+ year old can remember.
But, but, but why did the Allies have to fly in supplies to Berlin?
Why didn’t they just take advantage of the opportunities that were all around them?
Abe Lincoln did not have an abusive home life.
His “poverty” was typical of all the pioneer families in his community.
“Pelosi told Sheehy to tell Harman that she agreed with the letter, the Pelosi insider said. But she did not ask to be listed as a signatory on the letter, the source said, and there is no reference to her in it.”
SOL: Early prediction. The holier than thou democrats who have vilified former President Bush for torturing 3 terrorists who had murdered over 3,000 Americans will drop this issue quietly.
Once it is revealed in the press (which has lost it’s true investigative abilities) that democrats attended 30 briefings by the CIA and surely KNEW about the torture in advance and had ample opportunity to protest it – but didn’t.
This will suddenly become a non-issue.
Abe Lincoln did not have an abusive home life.

President Obama ended up in the middle of an unlikely controversy this morning – the debate over Miss California’s position on gay marriage.
At a press conference addressing Carrie Prejean’s disputed title in the Miss USA competition, pageant owner Donald Trump compared Prejean’s stated views on gay marriage to Obama’s.
“It’s the same answer that the president of the United States gave,” Trump said. “She gave an honorable answer. She gave an answer from her heart.”
In her own remarks moments later, Prejean echoed Trump’s statement, telling reporters: “The president of the United States, the secretary of state, and many Americans agree with me in this belief.”
In the final round of the Miss USA pageant, Prejean told judge Perez Hilton: “I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”
““We’re in the 21st century,” Trump said, explaining Prejean is a model. ”
Trump says the pageant has determined the photos are “fine.”
Wow, what uncommon reason in this politically correct age.
Everyone should know that this would not have even come up had not Miss Prejean not been forthright and honest in answering a direct and loaded quetion from an agenda driven homosexual.
It was the right thing AW as stated it was an honest answer to the question. Would those photos come out otherwise? Maybe and if she had won more then likely, but with out the question and her losing not so likely. The ones released this morning is from the trap that most aspiring models fall into.
A photographer has the model sign a standard release, it gives them sole ownership over any photos they take. But it also does not mean the model has any say over any photos of them the Photographer takes of them. Carrie said the photos released this morning was not a part of the shoot. And that the photographer should not have released them. accidental nudity will happen in any such photo shoots.
Carrie did not agree to these shots and did not understand that she did not have to agree to being
photographed while the wind blew open the top.
The fact that Regular on the one hand can complain about the very real discrimination he faces when trying to get a job with a disability — to the point that he claims he was not hired because of it — while at the same time intoning the right-wing lie that “opportunity is everywhere for all in America” shows the nature of the problem.
The lie is so much more beautiful than the truth, and that’s the modern right-wing in a nutshell:
“The war in Iraq could take six days or six weeks. I doubt it will take six months.” Don Rumsfeld
“Deficits don’t matter. Reagan showed us that.” Dick Cheney
“I’m a compassionate conservative. I’m a uniter, not a divider.” George W. Bush
“Regulation is bad. Banks need more freedom . . . Corporations can regulate themselves.”
“We need to attack Al Qaeda at their geographic base, if you will, in Iraq.” Dick Cheney
“Liberals want America to fail in Iraq. They want America boys to die.” Rush Limbaugh
Ohmygorsh, Obama broke his Armenian genocide pledge.

Obama also lied to the Chrysler union workers on 29 April when he stated that none of them would loose their jobs. April 30th, it was announced that Chrysler would be closing five or six plants.
“Chrysler, Obama take the truth about plant closings for a spin”
They all took notes on what was said by Larry Summers, Ed Montgomery and Ron Bloom, three of the advisers Obama had tapped to rescue the American auto industry. And what these and other Congress members heard in this private telephone conference was consistent with the message that President Obama publicly made a few minutes later in the White House grand foyer: Chrysler, the storied American automaker, was entering a short, government-assisted Chapter 11 bankruptcy and would merge with Fiat, the Italian car maker.
But this “will not disrupt the lives of the people who work at Chrysler or the communities that depend on it,” Obama said.
It also followed a telephone briefing with reporters little more than an hour earlier, in which a senior administration official was asked about the potential loss of Chrysler “head counts.” The administration official, talking with reporters on the condition that he and others not be named, responded that “there are no plans to have any immediate plant closings or major white- or blue-collar head-count reductions.” Plaindealer.com
“TWINSBURG –Workers at Chrysler’s Twinsburg Stamping Plant are angry, and they want Sen. Sherrod Brown and other lawmakers to help them. ”

“Bush LIED that he would reduce CO2 emissions.”
Bush signed the Energy Independence and Security Act, which democrats hailed as a great accomplishment which would lead to reduced Green House gases. This Act included increased CAFE standards to 35 MPG by year 2020.
Have you forgotten?
Washington Post 23 May 2002
A member of a government advisory committee on coal charged last year that President Bush’s decision to reverse himself on a campaign pledge to reduce carbon dioxide emissions was a “monumental mistake” that resulted from vigorous coal industry pressure, newly disclosed documents show.
Jane Hughes Turnbull, an executive of a California renewable energy concern, made the assertions in a March 16, 2001, letter to Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham explaining her decision to resign from the National Coal Council, the advisory group. Bush had announced three days earlier that he had abandoned his campaign promise to reduce power plant emissions of carbon dioxide . . .

Looks like gm insiders are bailing out.
“DETROIT (Reuters) – General Motors Corp (GM.N) stock plunged more than 22 percent to a 76-year low on Tuesday, a day after a group of GM executives disclosed they had sold shares in the struggling automaker.
Six GM executives, led by former GM Vice Chairman and product chief Bob Lutz, disclosed on Monday that they sold almost $315,000 in stock and liquidated their remaining direct holdings in the automaker.
The stock sale underscores the extreme pressure on GM with less than three weeks remaining for the embattled automaker to win deals to slash debt and operating costs with its major union and bondholders to avoid bankruptcy.
GM is headed for either a bankruptcy filing or an out-of- court restructuring that would wipe out current stockholders by flooding the market with new shares to pay off creditors.
The automaker’s stock could be worthless in a bankruptcy or worth less than 2 cents apiece if it proceeds with plans to issue shares to creditors led by the U.S. Treasury Department, the company has said

“Social Security and Medicare Seen Failing Faster
Analysts expect both programs could run out of cash sooner than last predicted.”
Really.
Because Bush predicted that Social Security would run out of money in 1988.
So, is Fox News predicting sooner than that?
http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/02/03/dems.ss/index.html
” . . . Bush, as a congressional candidate in Texas 27 years ago, said that Social Security would be bankrupt by 1988 if it wasn’t privatized.”
Bush is no longer the president. But SS and MC are still going bankrupt.
http://nopoliticalprofiling.com/
“So, is Fox News predicting sooner than that?”
It is breaking news in the New York Times. Does that make it true or false?
Why is it so important to you, capn, that the masses be dependant on the government?
If individuals opt out of SS and privatize their retirement, why does that get your panties in a wad? What have you lost?
Turns out the democrats are not the rising power in America afterall. They are far from the majority and the great “movement” libs have been bragging about.
April 30th:
PRINCETON, NJ — Gallup Polls conducted in the first quarter of 2009, from January through March, find an average of 35% of Americans identifying themselves as Democrats and 28% as Republicans. The seven-point gap is similar to what Gallup has found since 2006, when the political tide turned in the Democrats’ favor. In fact, there has been no change in national partisanship since the last quarter of 2008, when 35% of Americans identified as Democrats, 28% as Republicans, and 35% as independents. That means the Democratic Party’s advantage has neither expanded nor contracted since Barack Obama took office and began to pursue a largely Democratic legislative agenda.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/118084/Democrats-Maintain-Seven-Point-Advantage-Party.aspx
Obama please keep pi ssing off the independents.
We own the independents.
Bush is no longer the president but we’re still in the midst of his recession.
Analysts expect both programs could run out of cash sooner than last predicted.
Imagine that, maybe they’ll get it right next time.
“Social Security. Had retirements been privatized the way that the financial services industry has been pushing for the last thirty years, millions of elderly people would now be eating mudpies and Alpo.”
Not true CF2K. Bush’s proposal – which Democrats rallied against claiming “nothing is broke with social security”, was for “future” retirees.
And allowing workers to invest “a portion” of their 15% Social Security earnings into private accounts (which Uncle Sam could not spend, like they do the ENTIRE present FICA balance), was for workers age 55 and below. There was more detail to the Bush proposals, but democrats refused to even TALK about it.
Why? Because FDR’s Social Security Program was “off limits”. A political hot potato too hot for them to touch. Instead, democrats put their heads in the sand and DENIED there was anything wrong.
Democrats have had their heads in the sand in denial. Bush’s plan was not perfect – but at least he attempted to do something about SS before it was too late. (Early changes would have prevented or delayed default)
Tomorrow we will see the reports from both the Social Security administration as well as medicare.
Tomorrow, the fat lady sings…
We should care what Susan Boyle does, because….?
Will Susan Boyle be the fat lady singing?
“We own the independents.”
Keep on trucking on Phantom.
“If individuals opt out of SS and privatize their retirement, why does that get your panties in a wad? What have you lost?”–Sol
Sol,
Like all dimwitted liberals they’re afraid someone somewhere will be more successful, have more than they do and live freer.
They want to bring everyone down to the same level, not allowing people to freely pursue their own destinies.
They look at the world as being a finite pie, with a fixed amount value to be divided up equally and not divided according to individual effort.
Therefore, if one person is more industrious and earns more, or sacrifices and saves more, they see that persons share comeing out of their portion of the pie and they might get less.
It’s really selfishness.
Yeah. Most of the CONs would have invested in WorldCom, Enron, Lehman Brothers, and Pets.Com.
A nice diversified portfolio.

Well, bless their little hearts.
I wonder how many Notre Dame students decided to forgo their Commencement ceremonies when George W. Bush was invited to speak in 2001?
George W. Bush signed over 150 death warrants as the Governor of Texas. How many abortions is Barack Obama as directly responsible for?
Wow, I don’t know what happened to that post, here it is straight.

Daniel,
Don’t know if they told you or not, Bush isn’t the president anymore.
Cosmos,
If you are going to demand people answer your questions, perhaps you should start by answering others.
“Wow, I don’t know what happened to that post, here it is straight.”
You didn’t sober up that quick. Did your wife wipe your chin while she was correcting your screed?
Daniel,
I’ll make you a deal:
You agree to limit abortions to only those which would be an actual threat to the life of the mother and I’ll agree to stop supporting the death penalty.
Deal?
Opposed legislation protecting born-alive failed abortions
Obama has consistently refused to support legislation that would define an infant who survives a late-term induced-labor abortion as a human being with the right to live. He insists that no restriction must ever be placed on the right of a mother to decide to abort her child.
On March 30, 2001, Obama was the only Illinois senator who rose to speak against a bill that would have protected babies who survived late term labor-induced abortion. Obama rose to object that if the bill passed, and a nine-month-old fetus survived a late-term labor-induced abortion was deemed to be a person who had a right to live, then the law would “forbid abortions to take place.” Obama further explained the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment does not allow somebody to kill a child, so if the law deemed a child who survived a late-term labor-induced abortion had a right to live, “then this would be an anti-abortion statute.”

Daniel,
Don’t know if they told you or not, Bush isn’t the president anymore.

I heard. What does that fact have to do with the post I made?

Notice how cosmos is so obsessive compulsive that he resembles a small mouse caught in a maze. Not being able to find the food but working madly, running down this corridor and that ever more frustrated and desperate.
I linked to the original story more than once that she turned him down, now that’s all you get.

boxlock,
So you do not have a source that supports what you posted?
And instead of admitting that you do not have a source, you attack me?
Okay. . . thank you, boxlock.

If you are going to demand people answer your questions, perhaps you should start by answering others.
—————–
Nathaniel,
I’ve answered your questions about AGW science — you just didn’t like the answers.
Cosmos,
You replied to my questions. You didn’t answer them.
There is a difference.
Nathaniel,
If you claim that I did not answer your questions, then you probably believe that the answers that you want are the only correct answers.
I hope that you’re enjoying your denial of climate science.
Cosmos,
I hope you are enjoying your worship of AGW.
Oprah is kicking Dr. Oz off her TV show as a regular, the unsaid reason being that he had the nerve to say in the face of embryonic stem cell fanatic Michael J. Fox that the impending hope of new treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s is in ethical, successful adult stem cell research, and that useless, unethical embryonic stem cell research has shown no evidence at all of ever curing anything, and cannot be safe or stable enough for human trials for decades, if ever.

“One final response to this scandal is fully in the control of each graduating senior: don’t show up. Don’t participate in an event which will only serve to obscure rather than highlight the Church’s pro-life teaching and the true spirit of Notre Dame.”
. . . Father Frank Pavone, scheduled as the real speaker at Notre Dame’s real commencement, denouncing the betrayal of the institution by the university’s president John Jenkins [ph. 574-631-5000, fax 574-631-2770, email president@nd.edu ]
. . .
Pro-life Notre Dame students are holding their own pro-life commencement ceremony May 17, at the same time and instead of the graduation ceremony where baby-hating Marxist Obamanation will speak and receive honors on a platform that violates the Catholic institution’s pro-life mission. Father Frank Pavone, founder and director of Priests for Life, will speak at the legitimate commencement. The focus of many who attend Obamanation’s speech will surely be pro-life protests or the boycott.
It appears, by the way, that considerations of kickbacks involving your tax money are behind the reasoning that caused Jenkins to select Obamanation for a speaking platform and honors this year. The Chair of the Notre Dame Trustees, Richard Notebaert of the Chicago area, has a wife, Peggy, also a luminary in the Notre Dame community, who runs the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, which received federal funding earmarked by then Senator Obamanation. It appears that the ND Board of Trustees has some wealthy members on the take from Chicago leftists, and tax money is what they are taking, in return for pushing Jenkins into a Big Mistake.

Hog Futures Hillary lied or grossly exaggerated in an April hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, claiming that she once visited hospitals in Brazil allegedly filled with women who were supposedly dealing with injuries from botched legal abortions. Clinton, as First Lady, visited a maternity hospital in Salvador, Brazil in October 1995. The purpose of the visit was to see how a family planning and reproductive health program has been administered by the pro-abortion group Pathfinder International since 1981 with funding from USAID. There is no evidence she witnessed a large number of women suffering from illegal abortions or complications from legal abortions.

In a preview of ways in which Obamanation plans to expand abortion mill profits to rake off into Democrat campaign coffers, Sweden has declared sex-selection abortions legal, in fact declaring that no reason can be refused at all for contract killings in abortion mills, including whimsy or the famous Kansas music concert attendance excuse, up to 18 weeks gestation.
[Kansas and Sedgwick County governments have already demonstrated that abortion restictions, even the post-viable abortion ban, are a total farce, causing a nationwide crisis in law enforcement, as desperate, coerced mothers and rape victims from across the nation come to Wichita for unsafe, criminal, post-viable abortions not tolerated elsewhere in the USofA.]
“You agree to limit abortions to only those which would be an actual threat to the life of the mother”
Who gets to decide what’s lfie threatening?
This is important–male pro-life lawmakers would dismiss things like preeclampsia (just a little high blood pressure, I have that myself!) and gestational diabetes (just a little high blood sugar, I have that myself!) or suicidal behavior (we all have bad days, bootstraps!), while a doctor would not.
If such a law were in place, would YOU allow doctors to make the call on what’s a threat to the woman’s life?
They want to bring everyone down to the same level, not allowing people to freely pursue their own destinies.
Totally false. However, even ordinary people should get help from their gov’t, not just rich people.
They look at the world as being a finite pie, with a fixed amount value to be divided up equally and not divided according to individual effort.
Again, laughable. Oil had no value until Henry Ford mass produced the car. Computers are made from worthless sand (silicon). Libs simply know that all our destinies and fortunes are linked as one people.
Therefore, if one person is more industrious and earns more, or sacrifices and saves more, they see that persons’ share coming out of their portion of the pie and they might get less.
It’s really selfishness.
Wow. If I thought Libs believed that, I’d hate them too. Of course, we Libs don’t believe that at all. We simply want gov’t to do something to keep old folks from starving to death after they retire. Social Security has worked to do that. 40 percent of retirees were living in poverty before Social Security. SS dropped that number to 10 percent.
If SS were abolished today, 40 percent of retirees would again be below the poverty line. It’s a successful and popular program.
Don’t mess with it.
IF there’s a 35% chance the mother will die from complications, is it okay?
What about 15%?
What about 3%?
At what percent do you think the government should force a woman to risk her life to carry another one?
Again, laughable. Oil had no value until Henry Ford mass produced the car. Computers are made from worthless sand (silicon). Libs simply know that all our destinies and fortunes are linked as one people.
=============================
According to the Capn, diamonds are worthless, because they are simply made from carbon allotropes.
Never mind the process involved in making something, that’s irrelevant in Lib world.

AGW science is very interesting — but the consequences of humans changing the chemistry of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans is very disturbing.
Tell me cosmos, how much co2 would it take to use up all the carbonate compounds on the ocean floor and floating in ocean to make it acidic?
“boxlock,
So you do not have a source that supports what you posted?”–cosmos
Poor cosmos, the frustration mounts further.
It’s not the first time little Barry’s been ’stiffed’ either.
“Music mogul Simon Cowell snubbed a dinner party invite from newly appointed US president Barack Obama – insisting he was too busy to make time for the American leader. turned down the chance of a private dinner with U.S. – because he was too busy.
The American Idol judge boasted to US chatshow host Jay Leno that he was invited to meet the new president at the White House – but cancelled due to his hectic TV schedule.
He told the talkshow host, “He wanted to have dinner and our diaries didn’t quite match. We just didn’t quite connect.”
A shocked Leno replied, “And what were you doing – whitening your teeth? Fixing your hair?” ha ha!
And the second:
Susan Boyle snubs Barack Obama
“White House party? Sorry. The Britain’s Got Talent star has got to wash her hair.
Seriously. The News of the World reported that is what she told the White House: “Boyle turned down the chance of a dream dinner date with President Barack Obama in Washington… to stay at home and wash her hair, we can reveal.”
Hey cosmos, both are copy and paste entries….link? YOU FIND UM!
er make that calcium compounds…
Our resident historian “Regular” reveals –
“…Oil had no value until Henry Ford mass produced the car. “
Tell that to John D. Rockefeller.
The ocean is basic, Regular. I’m sure you already knew that, reading up on coral reefs and all.
It would take an unimaginable amount of CO2 to make the ocean pH acidic. Nothing we’ll ever see, I’m sure.
BUT, a significant drop in pH, while leaving it above 7, would be devastating to calcium carbonate organisms.
I think you already knew that, and are just trolling :)

Daniel,

Deal.
I promise not to have any abortions that are not a threat to my life.
Here’s one I will give you a link for as I think all should read it.
http://hillbuzz.org/2009/05/09/susan-boyle-turned-down-meeting-with-dr-utopia-to-wash-her-hair-and-brush-her-cat/
“This is a British paper, and the Brits are cheering Boyle on for not going to Washington to meet Dr. Utopia. Wasn’t Britain supposed to be one of the many countries of the world who were just falling overthemselves for Dr. Utopias 2008 Summer Rainbow Tour? So, why aren’t they castigating Boyle for turning down the chance to meet utopia-personified in person?
Interesting.
The other thing that really fascinates us is something we are still trying to process, because we have a lot of personal feelings that get in the way here. WE have always considered Dr. Utopia to be a joke, and a complete empty suit full of meaningless platitudes. We thought that in 2004 when he was running for the Senate. We thought that after we moved to Chicago in 2005-2006 or so, and saw he did nothing as a Senator. We, clearly, thought it all through 2007-2008 during the primaries and the general election. We still think this now.
So, what fascinates us is the fact that it really and truly does seem like OTHER people who don’t have the same long history of thinking he’s a joke are now calling Dr. Utopia a bumbling joke.
It feels like the narrative is starting to change to that, like it did for Carter. AND, Carter was never called a light-bringing God when placed atop the media pedestal. Carter did have strong media backing, and so he did fall from the height he was rocketed by that liberal cheerleading, but Carter did not have anywhere as high to fall as Dr. Utopia does.
And, every day, there’s something stupid the White House does, reminiscent of the old parodies done in the first Bush Administration where surreal futures were set in a Quayle Presidency filled with blundering mishaps and unbelievable stupidity.
But, we know Dan Quayle. Dan Quayle largely had a bad rap. Dan Quayle would have never given the Queen an iPod or a legally blind man some stale DVDs he can’t even watch in his DVD-player.
Why didn’t Susan Boyle want to meet the current US president? Maybe she really did prefer to wash her hair and brush her cat. Or, maybe Dr. Utopia is already just a big joke and she didn’t want to make the effort to go all the way to Washington to meet someone she doesn’t respect.
We wouldn’t have gone either, to be honest., for the same reason. “
This gonna be your NEW game bawks?
The other day you posted just a link…and I kicked your teeth in with the whole story.
So, what are ya gonna do now? Cut and parse and cut and paste just what you want and give no sources?
We have your word on it?
Heh, well good luck with that.

What about arctic coral reefs? Will co2 absorption and release be slower or faster?
What is the saturation level of sea water for co2 in terms of osmotic pressure by volume/area?
No idea. That’s more of an oceanographer’s territory rather than a biologist’s.
Why do you ask?

No idea. That’s more of an oceanographer’s territory rather than a biologist’s.
Why do you ask?
—————————————-
Southern oceans, according to scientists are close to the point of co2 saturation. scientists have discovered what they call a ’saturation horizon’ in the ocean, above which the water is ’supersaturated’ in carbonate ions. When carbon dioxide dissolves in sea water it forms carbonic acid (H2CO3), which releases hydrogen ions (H+), lowering the pH and making it more acidic.
In the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maxium (PETM), acidification of the ocean eventually caused the calcium carbonate that had accumulated on the seafloor over millennia to dissolve. This reversed the acidification process and allowed the concentration of carbonate ions to again increase to a point where calcite and aragonite started to re-form in the surface layers. The biodiversity slowed down, but didn’t entirely stop. Of course, biodiverstiy came back as we see from today’s ocean life.
So evidently, a saturation horizon has been identified in Southern oceans and acidified oceans may not take place before calcium carbonate is released from the seafloor.
Again, what is the rate? Are we talking hundreds of years? Thousands of years? Hundreds of thousands of years?
Well it’s started. Wall street is reporting one of the reasons gas prices are rising is the high borrowing by the United States as it ramps up it’s deficit spending.

Daniel,
That was not the deal.
Let me clarify:
I will oppose the death penalty (support laws outlawing it), not merely preclude myself from it and you will oppose abortion (support laws outlawing it), except in cases where it will be an actual threat to the mothers life. (not merely abstain from it yourself)
That’s very large of you to negotiate as to a woman’s right to choose there Nathaniel. You not being a woman and all.
Semantical games though. That issue is settled.
BlueJay,
That’s very small of you to completely disregard the life of the unborn child to the mere choice of the woman.
You having survived your mothers choice and all…
I posted the links more than once, all that’s necessary to make the point I was making. If you are too dense to figure it out then get away gnat, I have no more time to waste as you have become psychologically fixated and boring again.
You have a real clinical condition with psychological as well as the obvious subject fixation, it makes you look foolish and booooooring.
Now on to other subjects…..which of course leaves cosmos out…..gee, too bad.
This pretty much says it all.
“An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, fai led an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no onewould be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the stud ents who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little. The second test average was a D. No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.
Could it be put any simpler than that….?”

Donald Trump on Miss California: Same as Barack Obama
By ALEXANDER BURNS | 5/12/09 11:26 AM EDT
Text Size:
President Barack Obama ended up in the middle of an unlikely controversy this morning — the debate over Miss California’s position on gay marriage.
————-
OK. The Democrat POTUS agrees with Ms. Calyfornya on yag marriage. Think the wackos will get off her case? Or on the President’s?

The Donald has a lot of money.
He can buy the cupcake the right to keep her title.
He CAN’T buy her a favorable image going forward. And I was one who stood up for her originally.
I still get a chuckle when I think of that fat yag guy expecting the beauty queen contestant to, ahem, suck up to him and his cause.
And throwing a hissy when she didn’t.
Way to go darlin’.
I myself get a chuckle out of where the right has to go for hero figures these days!
SOME hero.

THE GOSPEL OF STE. PREJEAN, CHAPTERS 1-2
By GDAB Chief Biblical Scholar St. Elvis of Dingeldein.
Prejean 1 (New International Version)
And The God™ Saw It Was Good … But Not Quiiiiiite Good Enough
1 In the beginning God™ created the heavens and the earth, and a skinny little tart he called Carrie Prejean.
2 And He saw that His creation was good, but not quite good enough, for yea though Blessed be the Small of Chest, they winneth not the Beauty Pageants.
3 And God™ said, “Let her meager bosom be filled with waters drawn from the Dead Sea, which is salty, as I rather inconveniently made silicone cancerous, oops! Didn’t see that one coming!”
4 And yea, The Lord™ created Keith Lewis, Co-Director of the Miss California Pageant, and did giveth him The Funding, that Carrie might fill her bosom, and be Buxom in the Eyes of The Lord™.
5 And God™ saw all He had made, and it was good. Oh, it was very good.
6 And what God™ dideth next, no one shall speaketh its name. But it was good.
Prejean 2
The First Temptation of Ste. Prejean
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and Carrie’s breasts augmented in all their vast array.
2 And the Lord God™ rested, because creating entire universes is Hard Work even for a Supreme Being. Plus, Notre Dame was playing Michigan, and Oh! Lo! how The God™ doth loathe the Wolverines!
3 Now TheDirty.com was more crafty than any of the wild sites The Lord God™ had made. And it said to Carrie, “Did God really say, ‘You must not pose in your tight pink underpanties?’”
4 Carrie said unto TheDirty.com, “I may pose in any clothing picked from the gardens of L.A., but God did say, ‘You must not pose topethless and in the pink underpants, or you will die. Or at least be strippethed of thy crown.’”
5 “You will not surely die,” TheDirty.com said unto Carrie. “For God knows that when you poseth your eyes will be opened, as will the eyes of many, many 12 year-old boys, who shall wacketh in thy name, and you will be like God, only with a spectacular ass.”
6 And so because He resteth on the Seventh Day, Lo did The Lord God™ misseth the semi-nude photos, for being Naughty in His sight Carrie did bareth her spectacular ass and lieth about it to Miss USA.
7 And being guilty of Pride in her spectacular pink underpants, Carrie gnashed her teeth and beseeched the heavens, saying, “Father, Father, why hast thou forsaken me? What, you couldn’t have turned those photos to dust? Work with me, Pop!”
8 Then The Lord God™ said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “TheDirty.com deceived me, and posted my bottom on The Internets!”
9 So The Lord God™ said to Carrie, “I will greatly increase your pain in waxing your netherbits, and in injecting Botulism into your face, and you may find various beasts of the Sea swimming in your saline bags, I work in Mysterious Ways.”
10 And Carrie Prejean knew she must somehow restore her Lord God™’s faith in her, while Lo! pandering to Republican men with leftover Sarah Palin boners.
MH, you might even get Nathan off with that post!
Then again, maybe not – after all – he is a “good” Christian…..
The cons seem REALLY hung up on the fact that President Obama will not condemn a comedienne for hoping that Rush Limbaugh gets kidney failure.
Heck I want in on that one. I hope the SOB gets kidney failure too. In fact if he does, I wanna watch.
Is Viagra a kidney medicine?
boxlock,
Why don’t you just not post claims that aren’t supported by your source? Do you have a clinical condition that forces you to post those unsupported claims?
She has a fine future either with Fox “news” or the 700 club. Outside that? She’s more washed up than Sarah Palin.
I do not think that is a fair assessment Bluejay of Carrie after all I think Carrie actually reads! But judging from the anchors on Fox she would fit right in, Blond, beautiful and what else is important to the viewers of Fox News? No she is not more washed up than Sarah Palin…
Proof of cosmos’s fixation, again….with me.

I figure God can take it.
He sure dishes it out.
In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Let GOD arise and let His enemies be scattered: and let them that hate Him flee from before His Face!
As smoke vanisheth, so let them vanish away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the Presence of GOD (Ps 67:1-2). Judge Thou, O’ Lord, them that wrong me: overthrow them that fight against me.
Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise evil against me. Let them become as dust before the wind: and let the Angel of the Lord straighten them. Let their way become dark and slippery: and let the Angel of the Lord pursue them.
For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction: without cause they have upbraided my soul.
Let the snare which he knoweth not, come upon him: and let the net which he hath hidden, catch him: and into that very snare let him fall. But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall be delighted in His Salvation (Ps 34:1, 4-9).
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.
O’ Most Glorious Prince of the Heavenly Armies, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in our wrestling against principalities and powers against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places (Ephes 6:12). Come to the aid of men, whom GOD created incorruptible, and to the Image of His own Likeness He made him (Wis 2:23); and from the tyranny of the devil He bought him at a great price (Cor 7:23).
Fight the battles of the Lord today with the Army of the Blessed Angels, as once thou didst fight against lucifer, the leader of pride, and his apostate angels; and they prevailed not: neither was their place found anymore in Heaven. But that great dragon was cast out, the old serpent, who is called the devil and satan, who seduceth the whole world. And he was cast unto the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him (Apoc 12:8-9).
Behold, the ancient enemy and murderer strongly raises his head! Transformed into an angel of light, with the entire horde of wicked spirits he goes about everywhere and takes possession of the earth, so that therein he may blot out the Name of GOD and of His Christ and steal away, afflict and ruin into everlasting destruction the souls destined for a Crown of Eternal Glory. On men depraved in mind and corrupt in heart the wicked dragon pours out like a most foul river, the poison of his villany, a spirit of lying, impiety and blasphemy; and the deadly breath of lust and of all iniquities and vices. Her most crafty enemies have engulfed the Church, the Spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, with sorrows, they have drenched her with wormwood; on all her desirable things they have laid their wicked hands.
Where the See of the Blessed Peter and the Chair of Truth have been set up for the light of the gentiles, there they have placed the throne of the abomination of their wickedness, so that, the Pastor having been struck, they may also be able to scatter the flock. Therefore, O’ thou unconquerable Leader, be present with the people of GOD and against the spiritual wickedness which are bursting in upon them; and bring them the victory.
The Holy Church venerates thee as its Guardian and Patron; and it glories in the fact that thou art its Defender against the wicked powers of earth and hell. To thee the Lord has assigned the souls of the redeemed to be placed in Heavenly bliss. Beseech the GOD of Peace to crush satan under our feet, that he may no more be able to hold men captive and to harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that the mercies of the Lord may quickly come to our aid, that thou mayest seize the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and satan and that having bound him, thou mayest cast him into the bottomless pit, so that he may no more seduce the nations (Apoc 20:3).
Hence confiding in thy protection and guardianship, by the sacred authority of our ministry, we confidently and securely begin the task in the Name of Jesus Christ our GOD and Lord, of driving away the attacks of diabolical deceit.
“O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle – be Thou near them! With them – in spirit – we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe. O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with hurricanes of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it – for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.”
Monky mocks God again.
God have mercy on his soul.
good night; good luck; god bless —
whatever you conbceive god to be!!
blessings all!!
Lord, lead us not into temptation;
But deliever us from those who
Think they’re You!!
so mote it be!!

monkey, I do believe that is from Mark Twain’s War Prayer… it is always a wonderful reminder of being careful what one prays for…
so mote it be!!
“Southern oceans, according to scientists are close to the point of co2 saturation.”
Just so everyone knows, the consequence of this is that less Co2 will be absorbed from the atmosphere.
“scientists have discovered what they call a saturation horizon’ in the ocean, above which the water is ’supersaturated’ in carbonate ions. When carbon dioxide dissolves in sea water it forms carbonic acid (H2CO3), which releases hydrogen ions (H+), lowering the pH and making it more acidic.”
-The saturation horizon is some newly discovered phenomenon as you’re making it out to be. It’s basically this: Imagine a horizontal line below the surface of the ocean. Everything above this can support calcified life. Everything below it cannot. Every ocean at every point in the history of the earth has a saturation horizon, because it’s exposed to the atmosphere which contains some CO2. Just wanted to clarify.
“In the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maxium (PETM), acidification of the ocean eventually caused the calcium carbonate that had accumulated on the seafloor over millennia to dissolve.”
-The result was a mass extinction of forminafera and other marine organisms. A decrease in forams affects life all the way up to the top of the marine chain. Also, this event caused a shift in ocean currents that caused significant climate changes. This was no picnic for anything except mammals. You make it sound like a harmless event.
“This reversed the acidification process and allowed the concentration of carbonate ions to again increase to a point where calcite and aragonite started to re-form in the surface layers.* The biodiversity slowed down, but didn’t entirely stop. Of course, biodiverstiy came back as we see from today’s ocean life.”
–First, from your own copy-paste you forgot to include this single sentence: “*The process took about 100,000 years; in the meantime, marine biodiversity declined sharply.” As I said above, one of the documented changes was a mass extinction of forams (phytoplankton), which affects the entire food chain. Not to mention that climate changes caused by ocean currents shifting, and rising sea levels. BIG, MASSIVE, HORRIBLE THINGS HAPPENED DURING THE PETM EVENT!!!!!
–PETM involved a a little bit (but not much) slower increase in Co2 than we see today. Basically, the consequences of current rising CO2 is what occurred during that period, at best! I’m not okay with a mass extinction of calcified organisms that will take 100,000 years to recover and neither are the people who depend on marine biodiversity for their livelihood. Not to mention…well, let me not repeat myself a third time.
“So evidently, a saturation horizon has been identified in Southern oceans and acidified oceans may not take place before calcium carbonate is released from the seafloor.”
–A saturation horizon has not been newly discovered, or whatever you’re trying to say. The point is that the saturation horizon is rising due to CO2 saturation. That means that little area above the imaginary horizontal line is getting closer to the surface, which means less livable area for calcified organisms. Just because the whole ocean isn’t becoming an acid vat from surface to floor doesn’t mean that calcified organsims are not going to suffer from the smaller area of carbonate supersaturation (above the imaginary line). I think you misunderstood any article you read on this CO2 saturation in Southern oceans.
“Again, what is the rate? Are we talking hundreds of years? Thousands of years? Hundreds of thousands of years?”
-PETM took about 1000 years of rising CO2 before these massive changes occurred. Since our CO2 levels are similar to that of before PETM, I’d venture a guess of 1000 years before massive, catastrophic terrestrial and marine consequences. But only a century or so for a decline in calcified organisms and abundant coral reef environments.
This time difference sucks, maybe I should post this on tomorrow’s thread also.
Nice post Wahine_Tara,
But you left out the cause of warming in the PETM and that was escaping methane gas (not co2.)

Daniel,
That was not the deal.
Let me clarify:
I will oppose the death penalty (support laws outlawing it), not merely preclude myself from it and you will oppose abortion (support laws outlawing it), except in cases where it will be an actual threat to the mothers life. (not merely abstain from it yourself)
=================================================
Sorry, I can’t make that deal. I’m willing to put restrictions on my behavior but not willing to impose those same restrictions on others.
