Can Six break Kansas’ AG curse?

New AGThen-Eagle columnist Bob Getz wrote in 2002 that he thought the “Kansas attorney general’s office has a curse on it — a nasty, dream-demolishing, ambition-crushing curse.” Getz drew his conclusions from the political misfortunes, “some veritably scandalous,” of recent attorneys general Vern Miller, Curt Schneider, Bob Stephan and Carla Stovall — “all of them strong favorites at one time to become governor, who stumbled and fell by the political wayside,” he wrote. Amazingly, the pattern has extended in this decade, with Phill Kline and Paul Morrison suffering their own reversals of fortune. So far, current Attorney General Steve Six (in photo) has avoided drama for more than a year.

He refused too activate the KBI when someone threatened to KILL me as a Candidate for Sheriff in Miami County in 2008. He calls the Death Penalty, “Resonably Responsible”. He continued the ILLEGAL pursuit of Dr. Tiller. He allowed Phil Kline too walk after he stole Medical Records. He filed stupid charges against Colorado over the Arkansas River and then the project got shut down. He has allowed the 2 day class for Conceal Carry for District Attorneys and County Attorneys to override trained Law Enforcement personel. He has allowed the Kansas Legislature to bad mouth Kansas Law Enforcement by stating, “The Law is needed because Kansas lacks proper security in its Court Houses”. He allowed the passing of the Law for “sawed off shotguns, silencers and automatic weapons”. People are in prison, to this day, for possesion of these items. Yet it is now Legal to posses them, and keep those people in prison? Yea, D.A.s and County Attorneys are “EXEMPT FROM PROSECUTION” when discharging a firearm in a Court House, and Cops are still off for 30 days to investigate them for doing their job, if they discharge a firearm in a Court House with training. Take the Conceal Carry Class and you will have the same training as a D.A. or County Attorney to carry a gun in a Court House and use it. Yea 1 day and you are better than a seasoned Cop. Six sucks!!!!!The CURSE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Herbert West 3rd, {D}, Candidate for Kansas Governor, 2010. HerbertIII at http://www.twitter.com west.herb@yahoo.com

What happened to Carla Stovall? Did marrying old “Farm Report” Larry Steckline amount to a scandal? And Bob Stephan certainly survived his scandal.

    “Agnatha” –

I think this is part of the media-think.

“You’re AG so your next step is Governor.”

I’m not sure the last time that actually happened, but do we transform that media-generated myth to a “curse?”

It used to be winning a statewide race sort of made you a viable candidate for Governor. And perhaps that was an arrow in Kathleen Sebelius’ quiver at the time since Insurance Commissioner is a statewide office. And Joan Finney used that trope to leverage campaign donations as Treasurer.

In Missouri it’s the State Auditor that somehow gets statewide credibility for Governor. But that’s about it.

What I see about Six and Parkinson is they’ve never before expressed any interest in holding an elected statewide office, much less running for it.

if the AG’s office would involve itself in enforcing the laws, quit catering to illegals, & placing rights of the likes of the carr brothers ahead of the social agendas it keeps promoting, then the citizens of Kansas would rally around
