Oops, it appears one country did try legalizing drugs and, much to the dismay of some like Tiahrt, it actually worked in reducing drug consumption and HIV infections. I suppose the fear in America is that if drugs are legal then people will instantly feel the need to inject heroin, much like they claim they’ll want to marry a man if gay marriage is made legal.
Drugs in Portugal: Did Decriminalization Work?
“Compared to the European Union and the U.S., Portugal’s drug use numbers are impressive. Following decriminalization, Portugal had the lowest rate of lifetime marijuana use in people over 15 in the E.U.: 10%. The most comparable figure in America is in people over 12: 39.8%. Proportionally, more Americans have used cocaine than Portuguese have used marijuana.
The Cato paper reports that between 2001 and 2006 in Portugal, rates of lifetime use of any illegal drug among seventh through ninth graders fell from 14.1% to 10.6%; drug use in older teens also declined. Lifetime heroin use among 16-to-18-year-olds fell from 2.5% to 1.8% (although there was a slight increase in marijuana use in that age group). New HIV infections in drug users fell by 17% between 1999 and 2003, and deaths related to heroin and similar drugs were cut by more than half. In addition, the number of people on methadone and buprenorphine treatment for drug addiction rose to 14,877 from 6,040, after decriminalization, and money saved on enforcement allowed for increased funding of drug-free treatment as well.”

Liquor and tobacco consumption in this country have been dropping for decades. It appears the way to control drugs is to legalize them.
You do it the way your mother does. Natter them until they quit.
George Zinkhan, who used a gun to kill his wife and two men, is still at large. His background as a life long liberal arts professor would indicate he is most likely a liberal democrat.
I can’t say for sure, but since liberals are quick to blame “cons” for all the guns and gun murders, I thought I would throw it out.

I’m concerned about our tax money paying utility bills, but it would for the environment to turn the lights out too.
Meanwhile, the great American judicial system is starting to provide ‘justice’ to the captured Somali pirate.
He has his court appointed attorney, a special diet consistent with his religious sensibilities and a Quran.
Hopefully we’ll be able to repatriate him without awarding him too much in civil court after this is all over.

Glad to see you survived the tornado that passed through your area last night.

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2009/04/27/fla_police_piece_together_deadly_shooting/
This case is very interesting for a number of reasons. For one thing, the man came up shooting after being tasared. Was he observed with a weapon before being tasared, or did he produce a concealed weapon after being tasared? Also of note this happened in Florida, king of the CC states. Would a CC have a defense if after tasared he came up firing. Could he claim his metal state was scrambled by the effects of the shock?
Yes it was concealed:
“Two deputies from a troubled sheriff’s office in Florida had no warning a confrontation with a National Guard soldier accused of beating his wife would turn deadly, the sheriff said.
Deputies Burt Lopez and Warren “Skip” York used a stun gun to subdue Joshua Cartwright, but he was able to start shooting at them from the ground. Both Lopez and York died.
“Within seconds he sat up and began firing a weapon that came out of nowhere, it was somewhere on his body we assume,” Okaloosa County’s Interim Sheriff Ed Spooner told more than 300 sheriff’s office employees who gathered Sunday night to pray and hear an explanation of the shootings.
Cartwright was killed in a shootout at a roadblock after a car chase into a neighboring county. The deputies had gone to a shooting range to arrest him after his wife sought treatment for domestic abuse injures at an area hospital.”
However, whether the man had a permit will never be publically known because such records are not public. The information might be leaked, but no reporter could request it. The man was also a national guardsman. In some states doesn’t military training automatically qualify a man to carry a concealed weapon?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-us-deputies-shooting,0,4466181.story
Warning to Pukes. You’ll think the story above is liberal propaganda.
A dead republican party:
“For the first time since Barack Obama was elected president last November, more than half of U.S. voters (53%) say it is at least somewhat likely that the next occupant of the White House will be a Republican. Thirty-one percent (31%) say it is Very Likely.
Thirty-five percent (35%) say it is not very or not at all likely, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Twelve percent (12%) aren’t sure.
This is not an expectation related to the 2012 election. It is a question about the President following Obama which could happen in either 2012 or 2016.
Naturally, there is a partisan divide–77% of Republican voters say it’s likely the next president will be from their party. Just 39% of Democrats agree.
Still, that’s an increase among both parties from previous surveys. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 47% now say a GOP president is likely, while 33% think not.”
rasmussenreports.com
“The man was also a national guardsman. In some states doesn’t military training automatically qualify a man to carry a concealed weapon?”
What states would this be? I know of none.
“Good news! The economic recovery bill that President Obama signed into law in February 2009 provides for a one-time payment of $250…”
Should I spend the whole amount at one place or spread the wealth around?
Apparently, the American people are seeing through the democrat advertisement which labels republicans voting “NO” as partisan politics. Many realize that democrats voting “YES” – without working with the republicans, is just as much partisan.
“Forty-six percent (46%) of voters now say President Obama is governing like a partisan Democrat, down four points from last month. But the new finding is still higher than those in surveys during Obama’s first few weeks as president.
Most Republicans (69%) and unaffiliated Americans (57%) expect more partisanship. Democrats are evenly divided on this question.
For the first time since Obama became president, however, voters see congressional Democrats and Republicans as equally partisan. In previous surveys, Democrats who control both houses of Congress have been perceived as more partisan than the minority party.
Now, 57% say congressional Republicans are governing like partisan Republicans, while 20% say they’re acting on a bipartisan basis.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) say congressional Democrats are governing in a partisan fashion, although 19% see their performance as bipartisan.”

Our virtual open border with Mexico is going to make control of the flu virus very problematic. Guess those already sick wouldn’t feel like crossing over, but those infected and not yet sick would.
” had no warning a confrontation with a National Guard soldier accused of beating his wife would turn deadly”
“did he produce a concealed weapon after being tasared? Also of note this happened in Florida, king of the CC states.”
This is not a case of carry and conceal. Nice try.
The law enforcement officers confronted a man at a shooting range. Do you suppose they suspected the man was there to play tiddly-winks? Of course he had a gun.
Additionally, the man was wanted for domestic violence – one of the most unpredictable and deadly calls for a police officer.
This wasn’t a case of some Joe on the street being arrested and pulling a concealed gun.
I suspect the officers should have known the man was “armed and dangerous”. If they took the defensive action of using a taser at a shooting range – they probably should have pulled their service revolvers first.
Tasers are a “feels good” be nice weapon of defense. Had the officers used guns……..
Here’s a sample of ramussen’s polling!
With the election just six days away, incumbent Republican Norm Coleman is back in front of Democratic challenger Al Franken – with his biggest lead since April — in the U.S. Senate race in Minnesota.
Coming off what many view as his strongest debate performance of the campaign last Thursday, Coleman leads Franken 43% to 39% in the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of voters in the state.
“Guess those already sick wouldn’t feel like crossing over”
Phantom, how badly do you want your next breath of air? I suspect if I had the flu, or my children did, and I lived in Mexico – I’d come to the USA to get the best medical treatment. (for free)
And you can’t close the border. That would be mean. Besides, employers and business lobbies still need the cheap Mexican labor. I’d guess the democrats realize the Mexican population as their biggest minority support group.
We can’t seal the border!
“Coleman leads Franken 43% to 39% in the latest Rasmussen Reports”
That’s probably pretty accurate. The ballots have been counted once, twice, and sometimes three times to ensure they are remarked to give Frankenstein the lead.
Just be thankful that bush is gone, the flu pending crisis made me think back a few years.

Storm over embryo ‘bank’ which could be used as a body repair kit
By Beezy Marsh and Jo Macfarlane
Last updated at 11:04 PM on 25th April 2009
Couples could be allowed to store embryos in order to use them to create new body parts or cure diseases.
Government legal and ethical experts are to discuss whether families can ‘bank’ embryos not just for procreation but also for use by doctors to create personalised treatments for parents and their children.
Now, embryos – the first stage of life after an egg has been successfully fertilised – can be stored for up to five years but only for procreation.
But a huge ethical debate is set to erupt as the Government’s fertility watchdog, the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), moves closer to endorsing new developments in medical science.
It will debate whether embryos could be stored to harvest important stem cells that have the ability to turn into any tissue type in the body.
‘Spare parts’: Government legal and ethical experts are to discuss whether families can ‘bank’ embryos for the creation of personalised treatments for parents and their children
Research on using the cells is still in its infancy, but it is thought that within ten years it could lead to cures for degenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and some forms of cancer.
The embryos could also be used to grow new organs and bodily ‘spare parts’.
Scientists have already successfully transplanted a windpipe grown from a patient’s own adult stem cells.
However, storing embryonic cells is controversial as they allow the creation of embryos for a purpose other than new life. It means couples could have IVF simply to create a body-repair kit.
A US company is already offering this service, which it has described as an ‘investment’ for the future.
The HFEA will discuss the issue in July – and if it rules in favour of the proposals, they will automatically become policy.
Paul Tully, general secretary of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, said: ‘These proposals widen the scope for abuse of embryos. Commercial companies will inevitably seek to exploit people’s fears about degenerative diseases.
‘This is about the commercialisation of human embryos, which is dehumanising.’
In October, a change to the law will allow embryos to be stored for 55 years, rather than five, meaning long-term banking could easily become a reality.
The HFEA has already ruled in favour of ‘saviour siblings’ – babies created using IVF and screened as embryos to be a tissue match for an existing child with a serious condition.
Once the baby is born, stem cells are taken from the umbilical cord blood and used as a cure, which experts say means the ethical leap for embryos to be used as a repair kit has already been made.
Several ‘saviour siblings’ have now been born, including Jamie Whitaker, of Derbyshire, whose donation of cord blood stem cells cured his brother Charlie of a rare form of anaemia.
Dr Richard Kennedy, of the British Fertility Society, said stem-cell technologies would improve over the next decade.
‘That might well open the door to this scenario which the HFEA is quite rightly discussing as an ethical issue.’
Josephine Quintavalle, of campaign group Comment on Reproductive Ethics, said: ‘It is sadly almost inevitable that bespoke embryonic stem cells created from frozen surplus will become the latest must-have healthcare accessory.’
An HFEA spokesperson said: ‘Horizon scanning is part of our regulatory role. We look at developing technologies which may impact on the work we do.
It might be a good time to look back at Mary Shelly’s book Frankenstein. At it’s time, it was science fiction but it contained a message for those playing with life for science.

What “ad” Phantom? BTW, did you know that George Bush is not president? Tough, I know to give up what got you off all these years.
It was a campaign ad, but the facts are what they are.
Libs & Con’s need to start planning for your position on the next world crises: Pakistan.
Pakistan government has just about lost control.
The government has appeased the Taliban and provided them power in even larger regions.
The government has passed a law allowing the practise of the tough Islamic Law which allows women to be raped, among many other archaic practises.
Intelligence reports indicate that the Pakistan secret service is again aiding the Taliban (their cousins and family). Remember this same security force helped aid the Taliban and Al Queda before 911.
Intelligence reports indicate the Pakistan government can no longer trust their own military to carry out actions against the Taliban. In fact, many have crossed over.
Despite a more modern country than Afghanistan, there is widespread support for the Taliban throughout the country.
Pakistan is months away from a takeover by violent Taliban and Al Qeuda supporting forces.
Pakistan has the bomb and missles.
Bin Laden’s new home is taking shape.
What should the USA do under the possible outcomes?
beber spews:
In some states doesn’t military training automatically qualify a man to carry a concealed weapon?
Not hardly.
Usually, for military members to qualify on a weapon, it will the M-16 or some version of it. Medics and combat personnel all train on this style of weapon.
Only select career fields, direct combat, pilots, special duty or law enforcement military personnel qualify with a pistol.
A pistol is the only conceal and carry. Since most military don’t qualify with a pistol, the question you pose is invalid and the analogy is way off base.
Another bush legacy problem the dems will have to address. Bush drove binnie and the taliban over to Pakistan, thinking he’d neutralized them.
The more real and immediate threat has always been Pakistan having nukes and a bunch of taliban/al-quida sympathizers.
Guess if it looks imminent that the radicals are going to take control, we should target Pakistan’s nuke facilities.

Good one American Way. I totally agree. Whenever there is a dispute anywhere near a shooting range, even in the parking lot, the cops should just shoot the suspect dead, and ask questions later. I’m in TOTAL, like TOTAL agreement.
beber, you seem to be angry.

Sorry knot head,
Military M-16 training is not equivalent training for conceal and carry. It involves pistol/handgun qualification. One must have had CCW original training in the military. M-16 training does not qualify as CCW training.
Note from the FAQ form the state of Ohio:
Question:
I received my original CCW license based on firearm training I had before I retired as a police or military officer. Is this training still sufficient to renew my license?
ANSWER:
Yes, provided you have not been retired as a police or military officer for over 6 years. If you have been retired over 6 years, you will need to provide evidence of completion of a competency certification course.

Beber fails again with false information.

It was a good enough deal for you before. Why not now?
Ummmm… I dont think anybody but you said anything about M-16 training…. I believe the original question was asked about retired police and military “officers”?
I mean, I would hope nobody would think that M-16 training would qualify for CCW training…
Chas,
Quit being a knot head.
Here is beber’s original statement:
In some states doesn’t military training automatically qualify a man to carry a concealed weapon?
I explained that generic firearm’s training in the military, which usually means the m-16, DOES NOT qualify as conceal and carry training.
Now Chas, no matter how you spin this, I made valid points, beber made false and erroneous points and followed up with more false and erroneous points.
Stick it up your ’stand the floor up’ Chas.
“I believe the original question was asked about retired police and military “officers”?”
Where in this question is retired police and military “officers” mentioned,“In some states doesn’t military training automatically qualify a man to carry a concealed weapon?”?
Hey Monkeyhawk,
Do you know anything about this spamming of my nic?

OK, Hud… I got the police and military item from the State of Ohio quotation… my error…. excuse me for my error!!!
Nothing wrong with the deal at all, Monkeyhawk. I probably won’t be able to make it on Thursday.
Priorities, sorry. I do Bearded Collie rescue and there’s a Beardie in a kill shelter in OK. I may be the only one available to get him.
Right back on ya, if it’s OK for you to pick the place, why isn’t it OK for me?
My contention was that in some states military service exempted cc carriers from fulfilling the training requirment. Anticipating you response, I just kept the following forum in reserve:
http://www.ohioccwforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=23771
You pluck down your dd214 and get your CC the same day. Some sheriff’s ask about training but most hand over the permit no questions asked. Of course these people can’t be lying can they? They have CC permits.
And this, from the Wikipedia, in reference to the state in question, Florida:
During the range portion of the course the applicant typically learns and demonstrates safe handling and operation of a firearm and accurate shooting from common self-defense distances. Some states require a certain proficiency to receive a passing grade, whereas other states (e.g., Florida) technically require only a single-shot be fired to demonstrate handgun handling proficiency. Some states (e.g., Florida) recognize the safety and use-of-force training given to military personnel as acceptable. Such states will allow a military ID for active persons or DD214 for legally discharged persons in lieu of formal civilian training certification. Active and retired law enforcement officers are also generally exempt from qualification requirements, due to a federal statute permitting retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons in the United States.
Eat your words Fibulus. The facts are that CCs are being handed out to just about anyone except a convicted felon, with little training and few questions asked. The laws are also constructed so that it is impossible to find out who has a CC permit, and this makes it impossible to find out the affects, good or bad, of CC.
“ANTI” asks –

For starters, any discussion we might have over lunch is probably less important than a puppy in peril. (I’m not sure why, exactly, this puppy is in peril only on Thursday, but I’m confident you can explain that.)
But you originally agreed to pick the time. And you agreed that I’d pick the place. And you agreed to that appointment ’til this morning.
That was the original deal.
I have a fairly flexible schedule and adjusted it accordingly when you picked Thursday noon for our get-together.
And while some people might consider a puppy-in-peril-four-days-from-now a lame excuse, I don’t. Go save the pooch in Oklahoma!
But it seems you’d be honorable enough to live up to our original agreement, even if you have to change the date and time.

Laying his plan for a President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Obama began to name the members of PCAST listed in his prepared remarks – before realizing he’d already introduced them, earlier in his speech.
“In addition to John – sorry, the – I just noticed I jumped the gun here,” Obama said, pausing for several seconds as he looked at the prompter. “Go ahead. Move it up. I had already introduced all you guys.”
The audience, which gave the president a warm reception, responded with a quiet laugh.”

Robber strikes hotel clerk with gun
BY JOE RODRIGUEZ
The Wichita Eagle
WICHITA – Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a northeast Wichita hotel at gunpoint Sunday and striking the clerk with the gun.
Police said they do not believe the robbery of the Marriott Courtyard at 2975 N. Webb Road is connected with two other hotel robberies that occurred Sunday and today.
In the Courtyard robbery, police said that the clerk reported the man pointed a black handgun at him and demanded money. The incident occurred about 10 p.m.
The man took the money and struck the clerk across the face with the gun, police said. The clerk did not suffer serious injuries.
The suspect was described as African-American, about 5-feet- 8 inches and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark-colored clothing and a blue bandanna.

Boxie… ANY public speaker uses some form of teleprompter… even your Pastor at Church… I believe you once said you are a Lutheran…. So, I would guess that you know that the ALTAR PRAYERS BOOK…. that big one on the Altar…. That book has many prayers that arent included in your pew hymnals… Prayers like the Proper Prefaces, and Great Thanksgivings for the various Seasons, etc., And your Pastor doesnt have them all memorized…. THAT, sir, is a version of a teleprompter…. And it doesnt mean your Pastor cant think….
I guess you also know that every speech made by a President goes into the archives files…. State of the Union addresses are all available to the Press before the speech is ever delivered…. Very FEW Presidents write all of their speeches… Some contribute to the content… But ALL of them have an entire staff of speech writers….
So, your rant is really, totally bogus… just another attempt to bash a man you cant stand being in the White House….
And, it would seem, if you dont know any of these things — YOU are the dimwit…
FLU PANDEMIC MAN MADE?
http://www.legitgov.org/baxter_flu_vaccine_260409.html
Baxter working on vaccine to stop swine flu, though admitted sending live pandemic flu viruses to subcontractor
By Lori Price, 26 Apr 2009
The OMFG moment of the century: Illinois-based Baxter working on vaccine to ’stop’ swine flu outbreak in Mexico 25 Apr 2009 Specialty drug maker Baxter International Inc. will work with the World Health Organization to develop a vaccine that could stem [foment] an outbreak of a deadly swine flu strain in Mexico.
Baxter spokesman Christopher Bona said Saturday that the Deerfield, Ill.-based company has asked the WHO for a sample of the flu strain. He says Baxter has patented technology that allows the company to develop vaccines in half the time it usually takes — about 13 weeks instead of 26.
[Is Baxter International taking a page from the Blackwater playbook? Just as Blackwater/Xe keep on killing to justify their multi-billion dollar contracts to provide 'security' in Iraq and Afghanistan, Baxter International is poised to make *billions* to vaccinate people against their pandemic.]
Are you ready? Wait for it…
Virus mix-up by lab could have resulted in pandemic [Uh, it apparently f*cking *did.*] 06 Mar 2009 It’s emerged that virulent H5N1 bird flu was sent out by accident from an Austrian lab [the Austrian branch of US vaccine company, Baxter] last year and given to ferrets in the Czech Republic before anyone realised. As well as the risk of it escaping into the wild, the H5N1 got mixed with a human strain, which might have spawned a hybrid that could unleash a pandemic.
You sure spend an lot of time and effort faux preacher defending against someone you call a dimwit, ha.
Like I said, little Barry can’t even remember what he’s already said without that teleprompter, and merrily, just like a dimwit, rereads his speech a second time, or stumbles around like he can’t put sentences together.
Here he is at work on our country:

Can the US trust Baxter?
http://www.newsinferno.com/archives/5668
In January 2008, Baxter International recalled nearly all its heparin injections in the US after some patients experienced extreme – and in some cases fatal – allergic reactions, after being administered the products. There were similar recalls by other manufacturers of Chinese-sourced heparin in Denmark, Italy, France Germany and Japan. In total, the FDA said tainted heparin has been identified in 12 countries. In the US, the FDA ultimately initiated 13 recalls of multiple contaminated medical products containing heparin from several companies.
In March 2008, the FDA confirmed that it had found oversulfated chondroitin sulfate in samples of the active ingredient used in Baxter heparin. The FDA said the chondroitin sulfate was molecularly changed to mimic heparin’s blood-clotting properties. That ingredient was supplied to Baxter by Changzhou SPL, a Chinese plant partially owned by Wisconsin-based Scientific Protein Laboratories. Chondroitin sulfate costs a fraction of the ingredient usually used in heparin, and producers may have used it in an attempt to cut costs.
And here again, busy, busy, busy!

Vaccines as a WMD?
Create the virus (the problem), then Create the Government vaccine (the ’solution’)
Hmmmm………
Is the WMD the virus or the vaccine?
http://euro-med.dk/?p=7083
Associate Professor, Chief of Orthopedic Surgery, San Francisco, Lorraine Day 24 Jan. 2006 “The greatest Weapon of Mass Destruction they can use is mandatory vaccinations, vaccines that will contain the bacteria and viruses of multiple horrific diseases ( something the CDC already admits they are developing) to be forced on EVERYONE! Above all Bill and Melinda Gates (Bilderberger 2004) and the Rockefellers back this endeavour.
Then the Illuminati will be absolutely sure to produce the “Pandemic” they desire, when billions succumb to the very diseases contained in the vaccine injection they received!”
“Whenever there is a dispute anywhere near a shooting range, even in the parking lot, the cops should just shoot the suspect dead, and ask questions later. I’m in TOTAL, like TOTAL agreement.”
Beber, do you just read the words you WANT to read and then add to them what you WANT them to say? I never what you posted you agreed with.
Maybe the ‘Flu’ victims will be taken to National Disaster Centers, for ‘processing’.
Or the healthy ones, will be isolated for their own protection.
I never posted what you claim I posted, and then you agreed completely with.
Remember in 1976, the Government vaccine was far worse then the disease.

JimJohnson, all this talk about pandemic flu was just to prepare us for the government release of the virus.
The democrats have so many Americans eating from the federal trough, they need to kill a few million of them off.
They cannot cut the entitlements politically.
Here’s CHANGE:
From Market Watch—
GM to slash more jobs, kill off Pontiac
General Motors offers to exchange common stock for $27 billion in debt, at a discount.
(Not part of the 3.5 million jobs created or saved.)
Oh, and Chrysler’s Union agrees to a $5 Billion Concession

“But they kill their voting base too?”
There are plently more with their hands out.
Don’t forget, the CIA released Aids to kill off homosexuals and blacks.
Most American Flu victims were in Mexico or had ties to someone who was recently there.

Too bad we didn’t have such paranoia before 911.

The flu also has snippets of pot genes? Well, if those who packed the marijuana had the flu, the pot could be infective.

Isn’t it a given, the earthquake was Bush’s fault. The flu outbreak I am not sure who is at fault; isn’t Obama in charge of the CIA now?

You have it wrong. Cheney had the Earthquake Machine but he passed it on to Biden. Obama is in charge of the CIA to about the same degree as JFK was.
My advice to Obama is to stay out of Dallas.
Except I didn’t say that. What I said is this could be the one. It’s not a pandemic yet, but it looks like it could be. Anyway, I’m immune. I’ve had it already; in Mexico.

“In some states doesn’t military training automatically qualify a man to carry a concealed weapon”
This is a very generalized statement which makes it sound as if you a Veteran – you walk in and
“automatically qualify” for a CC license. This is not true.
In the example of the State of Ohio, as provided by the poster, those who have military training less than six years old – have only to show that certificate to demonstrate ”competency”.
However, comma, pause for effect: Weapon competency is just one part of the legal requirements to obtain a CC permit in Ohio
The Veteran does not just waltz right in, wave his DD214, and get handed a CC Permit.
Applicants must all pass a background check: Ohio R.C.
Applicants must take and pass a written exam: Ohio R.C. 2923.125(G)(2)
Applicants must pay an application fee: Ohio R.C. 2923.125(B)(1)
Applicants must provide a color photo: Ohio R.C. 2923.125(B)(2)
Applicants must submit to fingerprinting and pass a background check: Ohio R.C. 2923.125(B)(5)
Applicants must not have been convicted of certain criminal offenses: Ohio R.C. 2923.125(D)(1) (a-h)
Applicants must have no evidence of mental incapacity: Ohio R.C. 2923 2923.125(D)(1)(i-j)
Applicants must not have certain physical disabilities: Ohio R.C. 2923.13
At renewal, all applicants must demonstrate continued competency (requal): Ohio R.C. 2923.125(F) (G)
In effect, all the Ohio law allows is for an experienced Veteran(and peace officers) to be exempted from the competency testing – and only if in the military in last six years.
Record Spending, Record Borrowing
AP-
WASHINGTON – The Treasury Department said Monday it will need to borrow $361 billion in the current April-June quarter, a record amount for that period.
It’s the third straight quarter the government’s borrowing needs have set records for those periods.
Treasury also estimated it will need to borrow $515 billion in the July-September quarter, down slightly from the $530 billion borrowed during the year-ago period. The all-time high of $569 billion was set in the October-December period.
The huge borrowing needs reflect the soaring costs of the $700 billion financial rescue program and the recession, which is nearing a record as the longest in the post World War II period.
The slump has cut sharply into tax revenue and boosted government spending for benefit programs such as unemployment insurance and food stamps.
The administration is projecting the federal deficit for the entire budget year ending Sept. 30, will total a record $1.75 trillion. A deficit at that level would nearly quadruple the previous record of $454.8 billion set last year.
To cover the government’s heavy borrowing needs, Congress in February boosted the limit for the national debt to $12.1 trillion as part of the legislation that enacted President Barack Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus program. The national debt now stands at $11.1 trillion.
The government released its estimate of borrowing needs for the quarter before a news conference Wednesday when officials are scheduled provide exact details of how much debt the government plans to sell next week and in what maturity levels as part of Treasury’s regular quarterly debt auctions.
The $361 billion estimate for borrowing this quarter compared with borrowing needs of just $13 billion in the year-ago period. Normally the government’s borrowing needs shrink sharply in the April-June quarter because of all the tax revenue being collected.
The government announced in February that it was bringing back the seven-year note and doubling the number of 30-year bond auctions it would hold each year to help finance the surging borrowing needs.
Great news folks!
Todd Tiahrt has finally listened to my calls and emails. He is now one of 92 co-sponsors for Ron Paul’s bill HR 1207 “The Federal Reserve Transparency Act”.
Since we cannot gain momentum in the Abolish the Fed movement, we will audit them and give America a clearer explanation for abolishing the Fed.
This audit will expose the Fed and it shroud of secrecy. It will virtually reveal its misdeeds to the public and cause an uproar so great that there will be no other alternative but to abolish the Fed.
It’s a good day to be a Kansan folks. We should praise Tiahrt for this, even if he does make other stupid decisions.

Evening Newscasts Have Covered Obama More Than Bush & Clinton Combined
“The nonpartisan research group Center for Media and Public Affairs along with California’s Chapman University released a study that found the nightly newscasts devoted 27 hours, 44 minutes to Pres. Obama’s presidency in his first 50 days. That compares to 7 hours, 42 minutes for Pres. George W. Bush and 15 hours, 2 minutes for Pres. Bill Clinton during the first 50 days of their first terms.
Not only has Obama gotten more coverage, but that coverage has been more positive than his predecessors.
On the ABC, CBS, and NBC evening newscasts, 58% of all evaluations of the president and his policies have been favorable, while 42% were unfavorable. That compares with 33% positive in the comparable period of Bush’s tenure and 44% positive for Pres. Clinton…”
HOO boy!
The cons are officially round the bend now.
I just heard a commercial on right wing rant radio telling about the virtues of investing in???
Seeds.
Yup, according to the commercial, non hybrid seeds are currently a better investment than gold.
Thanks for taking the time to do that, but I take no credit for just passing on real news, all I’ve ever wanted was someone to just read a little bit of what I put up on here and I thank you.
My tone, I think, is the main problem…but this stuff kinda-sorta freaks me out, so I get passionate ’bout it.
All it will take to get real change is to get everyone aware of the source of our woes in this country (and the world), which is, The Federal Reserve system. If most American’s would stop and think about the facts, which are, that the Fed is completely private and completely our God (or so they want us to fear). They make bad loans to good people, knowing full well that they create the “money” to laon to us out of nothing but the 1’s and 0’s floating thru the interwebs. They know that this “money” is a complete fabrication and they know that we’re all to stupid to truly understand it. They know that the realwealth is the land below the home and when they get the foreclosure, they get the land. And when their misdeeds get ahead of them, they bail themselves out, leaving us the bill. They prop their own false-Wall Street economy up at the sacrifice of the Main Street REAL economy. And sadly, all of this is engineered to crash our economy, so we are left with a dollar that’s equal to the Peso…thus bringing us down to a 3rd World serfdom. And all of that we’ve been seeing is just the beginning…
Imagine the crime rate this summer when the kid’s of all of the laid off worker’s stop getting their allowance cause dad don’t get a check.
If their is an election in 2012…people ought remember Ron Paul and other freedom fighter’s. Peter Schiff is running for Senator next year…that’s the movement I’m talking about.
BTW, I wonder why, if RATM are truly anti-capitalism, why do they still charge for their music?
Hollywood supermodel Kathy Ireland has spoken out against mangling, dismembering, poisoning, and beheading babies in abortion mills, and will now assuredly suffer the wrath of the pro-abortion entertainment industry. Ireland claims she had been pro-abortion, but no one could justify killing babies to her, except in extremely rare cases when intending to save a mother’s life, after she found out the truth about human development and behavior in the womb.

Say BJ, or should I say Mr. Socialist, you agree with the statement below?
“The problems of exploitation, oppression, and survival facing humankind can only be solved, ultimately, by the elimination of the exploitative system of capitalism. Our survival depends on a transformation to socialism. The U.S. working class, with a long revolutionary history and many powerful mass movements and organizations, has the potential to make this transition happen. That means building unity for peace, for protecting and expanding democracy, for living-wage jobs, for universal health care, for real equality for all those who are nationally or racially oppressed and women, for an end to the political control of the ultra-right over our political institutions, and for an end to the economic rule of the transnational corporations. Building and strengthening organizations of and alliances between the working class and its allies, winning real unity in the course of struggle, is the path from our current struggles towards socialism.”

The government wouldn’t mess with beer. The virus is just in the marijuana and the brownies.
Obama’s really not being very nice to Ted. Obama wants windmills. Ted doesn’t believe in Global Warming. (That bahstahd!)

President Obama can hurt Ted Kennedy on Cape Wind
Sen. Edward Kennedy’s attempt to block the controversial Cape Wind project may have gotten a little harder thanks to the guy he helped put in the White House.

Got something against basic economic and social justice?
(Jim wants me to agree with that quote so he can call me a communist. He doesn’t know I am not afraid of words)

Libs & Con’s need to start planning for your position on the next world crises: Pakistan.
Pakistan government has just about lost control.
The government has appeased the Taliban and provided them power in even larger regions.

Yeah that’s a scary word aint it “Jim”?
What’s not to like in the quote?
Are you a feudalist? You know, where the few people who have all the gold get to make the rules?
I like the Constitution myself.

Johnson — Why do you hate the working class?? Why are you opposed to expanding and protecting democracy?? Why are you against living-wage jobs?? Why are you against real equality for ALL people in our great nation??
Why are so vehemently opposed to our Country?? Why are you such a shameless traitor??
“…an end to the economic rule of the transnational corporations.”
Johnson — YOU just agreed with statement, in your rant against B of A above?? And yet this statement, that YOU agree with, is what you call Un-American??

Are those B of A jobs part of the 4 million jobs Obama was going to save or create?
Did he say America? I mean, did he say those jobs were going to be created in America?
Maybe he meant India. You know, Obama is a citizen of the World.

The founding fathers were actually pretty socialist themselves.
The problem was that in their time “We the People” only included white men with property and money. But they were quite concerned with things like “the common defense” and “the general welfare”. They spoke of “OUR lives” and “OUR fortunes” and “OUR sacred honor”. Their rebellion was as much against English commerce as it was against the English Crown.
But they lived so long ago and in such a different time, I don’t feel anymore comfortable using them to justify my beliefs than I am tolerant of others channeling their spirit. You can make dead people say about anything you want them to.
I still like the Constitution.
good night; good luck; god bless —

blessings all!!
so mote it be!!
G’night all!!
Looks like GM may be 49% owned by the gov.,40% by the union, 10% by the bond holders, and 1% by current equity owners (If I’m recalling the numbers right).
Better than going out of business.
I still like the Constitution.
=============
It applies to all now, you know many years after the race, women, and other such battles the Dims tried to shut down.
You fugin dipschitts try to hide all of your intolerance, but is is obvious to any thinking human.
You like neatly divided groups.
If only bush truly had a delimma in Iraq, other than his concocted one (he’d have my sympathy)! Bush’s only delimma was “Do I attack Iraq and avenge poppy, or do I let Saddam outrule another bush?”
I like the amended Constitution a lot better than the original document.
Amend= to change so as to make right.
Change is not something conservatives deal with well. Thankfully, more progressive folks were tireless in their efforts and remain so today.
To form a more perfect union.
Even those old founders were wise enough to allow provision for revision. They DID make change difficult so as to avert chaos. But they send us a message that their work (the Constitution) was one that must ever be in progress.
“for ourselves and our posterity”.
BlueJay,
Are you willing to lay yourself on the blade you provide for us?
BoA keeps jacking around, we’ll nationalize their butts too!
I’m guessing BlueJay doesn’t hold himself to the same standards as he holds others.
BTW, I am always right, just ask me.

Is youtube a dirty word? Just checking.
Apparently youtube by itself is not a dirty word. Whattabout http://www.youtube.com?
No, http://www.youtube.com is not a dirty word either. Whattabout Obamanomics?
There we go. It must be the watch part of the URL. Let’s try that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch
Nope, not the watch part. Maybe the watch? part.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Nope, not the watch? part. Maybe the watch?v part?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v
Not that either! Maybe the watch?v= part?
That isn’t it either! Maybe it’s the length of the URL?

In case you hadn’t noticed, this blog is the property of the Wichita Eagle, and as far as I can tell, not under any particular obligation to grant you or anybody else their own forum. You still have all your First Amendment rights, including the right to start your own blog, but last time I looked, you weren’t specifically granted the right to hijack someone else’s blog.
Looks like no more than one youtube URL per post is allowed.

Well HELLO “Stoned”!
I wonder what other nics you have posted here under.
You better refine your linking ability. I rarely click con links. I like it even less when I have to try four times before you get it right.
The rather banal man in your link claims that a receptionist would be paid the same as a machinist under the initiatives of President Obama.
This is incorrect. SO much so that I can fairly call it deceitful.
President Obama promotes the right of workers to organize. That receptionist would be free to reach out to secretaries, clerks, and other such paper pushers to organize their OWN labor union. Just as machinists and other makers and doers have, against Republican efforts to thwart them these last many years.
You’re funny “stoned”.
The youtube video you share with us has a whole 2 views. I guess mine is the third thanks to you.
I’ll pass on part three.
I’ll give ya this much “stoned”.
Your link offers a choice of Government over business.
I’ll take Government. EVERY time.
Bill Nye the Science Guy insults God and Texas
by Jesus’General
=======
We teabagger-Americans have put up with a lot–jokes about grenade sucking, comments about the intelligence of someone who supports Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber, homosexual teletubbies, sushi–but, by God, we don’t need no fancy Seattle science guy coming down to our national homeland, The Republic of Texas, and tellin’ us the moon ain’t Jesus’ light bulb.
Yep, you heard me right. Bill Nye came down to Texas and blasphemed the Lord God of Abraham by claiming the moon does not have it’s own light source; it merely reflects the sun.
Here’s an eyewitness report:
The Emmy-winning scientist angered a few audience members when he criticized literal interpretation of the biblical verse Genesis 1:16, which reads: “God made two great lights – the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.”
He pointed out that the sun, the “greater light,” is but one of countless stars and that the “lesser light” is the moon, which really is not a light at all, rather a reflector of light.
A number of audience members left the room at that point, visibly angered by what some perceived as irreverence.
“We believe in a God!” exclaimed one woman as she left the room with three young children.
Yes, we believe in God, Mr. Nye, and you’re just damned lucky we didn’t follow the prophet Elisha’s example and have God send a couple of she-bears to eat your secular ass.
Hiya all of youz!..
How are yaz doing?
