Lord’s Diner is a blessing

lordsdinercakeCongratulations to the Lord’s Diner on serving its 1 millionth customer Monday night. What an achievement, and what a blessing to this community. The diner, which opened Feb. 13, 2002, met this milestone about two years earlier than it initially expected. The reasons for that include a greater than expected need, a facility and staff that make customers feel valued, and the generous support of volunteers and donors.
About five years ago, radio host Rush Limbaugh ignorantly mocked the Lord’s Diner for allegedly serving customers who weren’t needy. Wendy Glick, the diner’s executive director, graciously responded: “The Lord’s Diner is here to serve, not to judge.” That’s another reason the diner is such a blessing.

The “alledgedly” is misplaced. There is no doubt they are serving customers who “aren’t needy”, but who cares if they are needy or not. Some people want a free meal. If that’s what they want to do, que sera, but it is not “allegedly”.

Darn anti-abortionist Christian right-winger nut job cons!

Another thread acknowledging their contributions to again be ignored by the leftists.

Bash the Christian threads are more popular.

I agree that the Lords Diner is a blessing. That is why many non-Christians also support it.

I have found that when I give a contribution to Catholic Charities they do NOT ask if I attend Mass (which I don’t)

Gee, fleettwood….you hang around out front of the Lord’s Diner checking W-2s?

Congratulations and thanks to Wendy Glick and all the volunteers for all the good work they do.

    Amway,
The Lord’s Diner is more needed than ever, thanks to your efforts to populate it. By the way, I have a friend who’s considerably further left than I am, who volunteers there. See ya!

My son and I should volunteer there. If they would have us.

It really is a wonderful thing they do. I’ll post again a poignant example.

Thanksgiving, I don’t know how many years ago.

People lined up at the Lord’s Diner waiting for a meal. NOT far away, another church with a rather locally famous pastor, not a soul in sight and no lights or open door.

The Lord’s Diner isn’t a church. But the majority of volunteers there are folks from various church’s. This is one of my wife’s ministries.

But all volunteers are welcome. A great asset to the community.

bj – I can assure you that there is NO “church litmus test” for volunteers. There are Christians, Jews, Muslims and many ‘un-churched’ there – all working together with a common goal.

Don’t have to. You know as well as I do, people who aren’t needy, go to the Lord’s Diner.
