Get on with Sebelius vote

Sebelius HHSSenate Republicans have put procedural roadblocks in the way of a confirmation vote Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., had sought today on Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ nomination as secretary of Health and Human Services. Now there’s talk of the vote going into next week, and of 60 votes being needed to overcome a GOP filibuster, according to the Washington Post. The nomination’s problems have been well-publicized, including Sebelius’ underpaid taxes and underreported campaign contributions from Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller. But many of the Kansans of both parties who elected Sebelius to statewide office four times may have trouble recognizing their cautious, middle-of-the-road governor in the portrait painted nationally of an abortion- and socialism-loving tax cheat. Can’t Sebelius supporters Bob Dole, Pat Roberts and Sam Brownback save this nomination from partisan savagery and get it over the finish line?

That would go against their prime directive to always toe the party line.

More than anything, shouldn’t the WEagle be embarrassed about all the dirt coming out on the Governor? Are you not looking closely? Failing to look? Turning a blind eye?

Should you really be surprised that Kansas cannot recognize her? Where was all this information during her re-election campaign?

Sebelius’ underpaid taxes and underreported campaign contributions

Her criminal record makes her a perfect fit with the rest of the Nobama administration.

Barack Capone and his gangland crooks from Chicago.

Exactly what ‘criminal record’ does Sebelious or anyone else in Obama’s administration have?

Exactly what ‘dirt’ has came out about Sebelious?

I don’t consider missing a few tax items as dirt. Pretty minor really. Was there anything else (or perhaps you are exaggerating)?

What’s wrong Rhonda? Afraid that the longer it goes the more there is a chance that some Republican Senators might just get a backbone and actually fillibuster her nomination. Of course not. That would take courage and character. Something the DC Republicans are totally devoid of.

Roberts and Brownback will never get any pro-life Republicans to campaign for them again, after voting for the HHS nomination of Bilious Sebelius or any other leftist pro-abortion extremist.

If income tax cheating is being written off as a factor in selection of the U.S. HHS secretary, I would be in favor of returning to former South Dakota U.S. Senator Tom Daschle as the most logical appointment. He was vastly more qualified for the appointment.

I believe the “dirt” referred to in addition to her tax problems are stated in the blurb above:

“underreported campaign contributions from Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller”

She also consistently vetoed any bills which might help protect women seeking abortions and cause difficulties for Dr. Tiller.

Wait, why on earth would you want to protect women seeking abortions? Why do you want to protect murderers, Deb?

I think the word you were looking for is “restrict”, not “protect”. Just a typo, I’m sure.

Protecting women in the form of the routine types of oversight that are required of other medical facilities. For some reason they are not required of abortion clinics. And yes, this kind of oversight will help protect women’s health even if they get abortions and kill their babies. Why was Sebelius against this? Because it would cause greater inconvenience, expense etc. for abortion providers.
