Anti-tax signs of the times

teasignWednesday’s spirited exercise of free speech by tax foes generated some entertaining signage. Among the best spied at the region’s tea parties: “Pirates at sea, pirates in D.C.” and “Read my lipstick; no new taxes,” seen in Kansas City. “Commander and thief” and “Right-wing nut job” (with an arrow pointing downward), seen in Hutchinson. “I think we have been hope-a-doped” and “Don’t tax me, bro,” seen in Wichita. “I’ll pay my taxes when I’m nominated to Obama’s Cabinet,” seen in Topeka, as was a sign reading “KS profligate spending” atop a wheelbarrow of manure.

    “Read my lipstick…”

and “Don’t tax me bro” also observed at con vention in in Atlanta.

I bet if I went looking, I would find a website with suggested “original” ideas for signs. Creativity and personal expression are not con strengths.

RLEASE HELP! Suggestions for anti-Bush protest sign needed

I’ll be protesting Bush Tuesday in Chicago, where he is doing a fund-raiser. I asked for help a month ago for signs for an anti-war protest and I ended up doing a double-sided one based on the suggestions here.

So, I’m asking for help once again. I need both words and visuals.

The 1,000 reported by the Eagle was a minimal estimate, in my opinion. I would have estimated 1500 – 2000. Even so, I have witnessed several protests in Wichita, and this is FAR greater than the 20 – 30 rag-tags I’ve seen at pro-Obama, or pro-choice, or pro-gay events. The current administration has awakened a sleeping giant.

    Marty?

Fred Phelps (one of yours) came to town and within hours, there were 500 people to oppose him.

There is a sleeping giant awakened on the left too. We woke up when you stole the Presidency from us and gave it to that moron bush.

BRING it! Oh please DO bring it.

BJ, Phelps is NOT one of mine. One thing we do agree upon is that the lines are becoming clear, and the left-right polarization we have witnessed for a long time are becoming more and more dramatic. We both know what side we are each on, and all the banter here never changes anybody’s mind. Rather, it seems to inflame both sides. The reasons are deeper than any internet forum will address. Culture, religion, sense of morality, moral compass, call it what you will. This is not the first time in world history where such lines were drawn, and sometimes big wars/fights/revolutions followed. I’m not predicting anything, nor am I looking for such an uprising. But like you, I think it is possible. If, by your comment, “bring it,” you mean “bring it on!”, then it looks like you are ready to commit yourself to your cause. I will refrain from responding with similar words, lest someone perceive you and I are picking a fight. But we both know where we stand. So for tonight, chill, and have a good weekend.

How do you figure? You both take your direction from the same Bible. We all know that the Bible is the infallible word of God.

So, how is it possible that you are any different from Fred Phelps when you are both reading from the same instructional manual?
