Neil Young: ‘Johnny Magic’ – LincVolt In Wichita
Check out Neil Young’s music video about Wichitan Jonathan Goodwin, who has been converting Young’s 1959 Lincoln Continental into a electric biodiesel hybrid that he expects to get 100 miles per gallon. The song is called “Johnny Magic,” and its lyrics talk about “disappearing down Douglas” and refer to Goodwin as the “motorhead messiah.”

Great to hear from Neil Young and great to hear that the Wichita wizard mechanic is still working on the hybrid.
Did he film that during the snowstorm? Ha!
If a mechanical tinkerer from Wichita can build a car that gets 100 mph why cant Detroit?
lol
I love it. Rock and roll will never lose its ability to inject a little yoot into us human beyuns – of any age. It’s like a shot of life straight into the buttocks. And Neil Young’s still bringin’ it with the best of ‘em, too.
(I also loved how, at the beginning of the video, he was oh-so-briefly spooked by the volume, rotflmao….if that happens to Mr. Young then I don’t feel so bad when it happens to me, too, and it does lol). God I love it, and I love it loud.
Nice video. That Neil Young fellow might just have a future in music if He gets out of Wichita and the breaks fall right for him.
But seriously, a 59 Lincoln Continental weighs only slightly less than a Sherman Tank and if this Johnny Magic can really get a hundred MPG than he is truly an engineering genius.

To heck with Detroit, why doesn’t Cessna/Bombardier/Spirit kick it? Their unemployed engineers and hourly would love to do something right now.
I guess “thinking outside the box” is only for Taco Bell.
Fire ALL the CEOs (not just GM’s)is my solution.
I’m sure Neil has done well, deservedly so, with his career. But I doubt if he’s generated the kind of cash bonuses common on Wall Street.
Still, he had a spare couple hundred grand to subsidize a genius who can make a ‘59 Lincoln get 100 mpg.
Beware of us ex-hippies with money, CONs.
We’re gonna ruin your world.
monkeyhawk, we’re not worried about ex-hippies with money. First of all, I doubt if you were ever really a hippie. Living through the sixties and seventies does not automatically make you one. Secondly, I doubt if you really have much money. After reading your asinine posts on here for the last couple of years, I find it difficult to believe you are smart enough to do much more than eek out a meager living. Even if you do have a little money, its certainly not enough to effect societal change.
What does bother us is ex-nazi sympathizers with billions of dollars like George Soros using his ill gotten wealth to change the nation into a third world hell hole for the convenience of a few elitists and globalists and a party of fools who claim to be for the little guy that blindly look the other way while he does it.
Pass the tissues…Chris has issues.
Really? “a third world hell hole’?
Of course, “satatom” –
We’re not worthy of a Second World Hell Hole.
(I swear, the CONs are getting crazier and crazier.)
ditto that hawk.
The cons are getting very kooky and uptight (not to mention pulling out guns and randomly killing people).
I wonder where Nathan is?
I would have thought this proclaimed genius would be done by now.
BTW it will not be enough to say “100 mph”, we also need to know the cost of the fuel.
