Still more bad economic news

The local and state economies took another major blow as Cessna Aircraft announced today that it now expects to lay off 4,600 workers, 4,000 of them in Wichita. That’s 2,000 more than the company estimated just two weeks ago.

Does this mean Cessna is still going forward with their plant in China? Yup, after years of getting corporate welfare from the Kansas taxpayers Cessna responds by firing Wichitans and hiring Chinese to replace them.

Yeah, but you can get a spatula for 99-cents at Walmart and we’re safe from gay married people.

Well, think about the money Cessna could make if Obama’s $3,000 per job saved credit would’ve been put into place.

If Obama had put it into action,
Cessna could send out a notice next month that it suddenly has found a place fo all 4,500 workers. They could then bank a cool 13 million from the federal government for “saving” jobs!

hmmm, oh yeah, that was just campaign talk. The government can’t create jobs, only private industry that has a market to grow in can. But it sure sounded good at the time!!!

It would be a stupid business move if they did that. Do you know any people who work full-time at Cessna but earn $3000 or less per year?
If they make more than that, the company would lose money by keeping them employed just to get the credit.

Out here in the land of the People of the South Wind with miles upon square miles of open prairie where wind farms could harness the power of nature if we could only attract the facilities and trained personnel who could shape sheet metal into propellery-shaped things.

Nah. If we did that gays might want to marry.

Brian does not undestand what Obama’s plan was about. The plan was to give $3,000 to the company to retain or create jobs for each job retained or saved. It was understood that an actual paycheck would be paid to the employee by the company itself. However, under Obama’s plan, the company would receive $3,000 just for keeping the employee on the payroll and paying them the market wage.

Do you seriously think that Obama would propose to give companies $3,000 if they “hired” or “saved” the jobs of their employees but gave them no paycheck????

This is only the tip of the iceburg as well.

When Cessna lays off 4,000 people, how many other local businesses that make parts for those planes will also have to lay people off?

I could only guess that 4,000 jobs gone at Cessna would be almost 10,000 if not more total.

thanks brian. You are correct that it would be a stupid move.

why? Becuase if Cessna really needs to get rid of 4,500 people due to market conditions, $3,000 per employee is not going to make any difference in saving those jobs.

However, under Obama’s plan all a company had to do is show that is is “saving” jobs. So then a company just needs to anounce a layoff and then later anounce that it has found a way to save those jobs and then they would receive the $3,000.

This of course the reason why Obama’s plan was a joke and is not being implemented.

    You obviously agree.

My 12:53 suggestion was nothing more then a poke at Obama’s job savings plan, not a serious business plan suggestion for Cessna.

    swooooosh!

    Nonsense. That never was proposed.

Corporations, Tending to a Tattered Image, Clip Wings of Private Jets

What’s not to like about a private jet? These days, plenty.

After enjoying a long run as an enviable perk of corporate America — justified to shareholders as time- and money-savers for globe-trotting executives — they are rapidly becoming symbols of high-flying excess.

Congress, in particular, is frowning upon companies that ask for taxpayer bailouts while still enjoying the comfort of their private planes or placing orders for a new one.

A year ago, oh hell, it was just 4 months ago, you dipschitts thought I was insane for telling you this was going to happen, remember buy seeds, gold, grain…blah, blah, blah?

Now it’s happening(I’m sure that you still think I’m insane)and you’ll have to look forward to a hard next ten years.

But by all means, keep arguing about who is to blame. Because none of you had anything to do with it.

Pat yourselves on the back, now you all think you have an answer as to why it is happening? You folks don’t have a clue…never did.

God don’t like you people and neither do I.

You all should continue to keep fighting about homo’s getting married and bizarre weather patterns and church bs. Those are the really important issues facing us today.

I, again, am glad that I prepared (like an insane person does) years ago. I’m glad I turned off my teevee, I’m glad I listened with ears wide open to people who matter (not the pretty anchor behind the desk). I’m going to have fun watching all of you squirm and cry (except for just a couple of you) for the next few years.

I tried to be a helpful person, I tried to be nice. I thought I was doing the right thing and being good to all of you. I tried to inform you, but you’re all waaay too smart for a crazy person like me.

Now I just want to watch you all destroy each other and rot from within yourselves.

Here’s a little “news” that you all just eat up:

    I ain’t “melting-down” ya tard.

You douche-bag “left-winger’s” don’t have anymore of a clue than the outgoing “right-winger’s”. You didn’t believe that anything was wrong with the economy when Ron Paul was being laughed off of the stage. BOTH party’s were laughing him off.

Those of us who weren’t as “smart” as you took means to protect ourselves. You all will soon be left out in the AWG…or Change. And I’m going to relish knowing that Cosmonkeyhawk will be having more Change that he bargained for. And the wenches on here. You’re gonna keep sucking off Obaama and using the scapegoat Bush. And the economy is going to keep going down, not because of any “incompetence” by Obaama, but because it’s geared to go down in flames. But you all are waaay “smarter” than I, so I’ll just kick back and watch. Hopefully this new…oldspaper will last long enough for me to witness your meltdowns.

Technically Cessna and Spirit are owned by investment firms, too (Textron, a true conglomerate, owns Cessna). Onex owns the bulk of Spirit I believe, and splits ownership of HBC with Goldman-Sachs.

Not sure what Onex plans are, frankly. The only real problem with the industry today seems to be that it’s very difficult to finance the purchase of a a new jet. Most of HBC’s jet business is with NetJets, and I’m not sure what HBC’s delivery plans are with NetJets at this point.

I think Cessna is the most vulnerable because their business model began focusing heavily on selling small jets at the beginning of the century. Small jets purchases are down the most in the mix of small to large-ish private jet aircraft I believe.

But in general I think that if financing were there then aircraft sales would only suffer a down business cycle, not a down business cycle AND the inability of their customers’ to finance a purchase.

If banks would lend again then I think Wichita would get quite a bit of relief. I sure hope that happens, too.

Tough times. Man, when the Democratic Party took control over Congress in 2007 and now we have a complete Democratic Party Government, the economy tanks and is heading straight into a Depression (something that never happened under Republican Congress).

More reason never to support Democrat Politicians because it falls on their watch and is their complete responsibility.

Businesses and investors are scrambling and hording every last penny because they know they have a big target on their head for confiscation and looting of their assets and wealth by the Democratic Party Government.

Just when I thought Republicans were bad enough, Democrats are complete home-wreckers.

We’re already in the first stages of depression (have been). And it has zero to do with “Republican” or “Democrat” and everything to do with the moneyed elite and the final putsch for world governance. Both Bushco and Obaaaminc have installed Wall Street insiders and power broker’s into their cbinets. Hopefully this will sink in before it’s too late to save anything, but I feel that you all will deny it even when your pensions are gone completely and you find yourselves never able to retire.

But I’m on here now, just to heckle. I’m stopping all of my annoying “help”, I just want to have some vindicated fun.
