Be sure to read letter to editor this morning, DERELICTION OF DUTY ON BOATHOUSE. The letter writer rightly blames the current city council and city government for the rapid deterioration of this beautiful old office building. It was built back in the 1920’s by George Siedhoff, master builder of most of the wonderful buildings built in Wichita during the Roaring Twenties.
I hope Bloggers will do what you can to save this building.
I call BS on the story of the family with the missing boy. Good thing I won’t be on their jury. I’m more than able to give benefit of the doubt and have sympathy for difficult children, but their story is bunk.
Revoked license, children said they saw abuse, relatives say they saw abuse, keeps the state checks, did everything they could to hide the fact he was gone. Didn’t report a missing child for christ sake. Guilty I say. Make them take a polygraph on where the child’s body is.
Afraid of losing their kids, sounds like they should had lost those kids.
Norm Coleman Vows to Battle Al Franken In Court

Declaring “the eyes of the nation are on Minnesota,” incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman pledged Tuesday afternoon to file a lawsuit and continue his Senate reelection battle in the courts.
In his first public remarks since Monday’s certification of Democratic challenger Al Franken as the winner of the Senate recount in Minnesota, Coleman spoke to the media in St. Paul, Minn., shortly before 4 p.m. Eastern time.
“The eyes of the nation are on Minnesota and we need to show them we’ve done everything we can to make sure every vote counts,” Coleman said.
In a brief but spirited news conference, Coleman also rebuffed a call by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., for him to concede the race to Franken.
“This race will be determined by Minnesota voters, not by Harry Reid,” Coleman said.
The Republican again voiced confidence that he will ultimately emerge the winner.
“I believe I’m going to win,” he said to the rousing applause of supporters crowding around him. “I believe I won on Election Night.”
After apparently leading the race by 725 votes, Coleman was declared the loser to Franken by the razor-thin recount margin of 225 votes out of nearly 3 million ballots cast.
Coleman’s legal team has objected that 654 absentee ballots from precincts generally favoring the incumbent Republican should have been counted. The campaign is also concerned that as many as 150 ballots may have been counted twice.
By state law, authorities cannot certify Franken’s reported victory until seven days have passed to provide time for legal challenges to be filed. The election cannot be certified until all legal options have been exhausted.
“We are filing this contest to make absolutely sure every valid vote was counted and no one’s was counted more than anyone else’s,” Coleman said.
He added that it is important that the eventual winner of the race has the full confidence of voters.
“I just want to make sure the ballots cast in this election were counted fairly, counted once, and with a uniform standard,” Coleman said.
Coleman’s election lawsuit will be heard by a three-judge panel to be selected by Chief Justice Eric Magnuson of the state Supreme Court, who was appointed to that office by GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
Assuming a Democrat is eventually seated to replace President-elect Barack Obama in the Senate, a Franken win would leave Senate Democrats and the Obama administration just a single vote shy of being able to cut off debate on Senate legislation anytime they wish.

I read that letter with interest too, and it is a shame! We probably won’t ever hear the real truth, but I know for sure they could have hired someone to stay inside ’round the clock for three years and it wouldn’t have cost what they’re saying repairs will!

There are also very high concentrations of co2 on forest floors near the soil and in rice crops and other types of vegetation.

There’s gotta be a better way of voting. Maybe democracy is ugly, and the best available, but we should be able to have one person vote, and that vote count.
Ugly mistakes all the way around. One case, an election worker KNEW they have 11 ballots which didn’t get reported for their precinct. They had already phoned in their totals. Didn’t become an issue until AFTER election and lawyers started asking.
Lawyers on both sides going through everything.

What is factual so far from the numerous affidavits sworn to is that lawful and correct voting procedures were routinely NOT followed by state election officials. Some of these involve the MN provision for creating a “duplicate” ballot.
But it is clear that human error to put it nicely is part of the manual election process. As I suggested, there should be a systematic solution to some of the election procedures.
It is also apparent, by the LARGE number of democrat votes which were added: That democrats are still too stupid to complete a ballot correctly. Sorry that’s what the outcome proves.
And it wasn’t an effort by “republican” election officials who didn’t count the votes the first time. By reading the documentation, it appears to me that most of the incorrect procedures were probably not intential, and no evidence either party tampered specifically during the initial election count.

Last year, 100 infants were abandoned in Texas and 16 of them were found dead. Their parents apparently didn’t know about a law that would have allowed them to leave those babies, up to 2 months of age, at a safe location, no questions asked. Since the law went into effect in Texas in 1999, no parent has actually knocked on the door of the fire stations in Corpus Christi and dropped off their baby, but every week rescuers are answering calls for child abuse and illegal abandonment.
In a few days, every fire station in the city will have a sign designating it as a safe baby site. Since the legislature does not provide any funding for advertising the Baby Moses Law, the city said they are only able to launch the awareness campaign because of donations they had received from Bay Area Hospital.
Meanwhile, 2006 statistics show that teen birth rates have risen significantly in 26 states, with Mississippi, Texas, and New Mexico leading with teen pregnancies 50% or more above the national average. Increased promiscuity amongst minority races seems to be a major factor, as Planned Parenthood high-profit abortion mills target them with condoms and contraceptives having known high failure rates.

SOMEone, has to get these young girls thinking:

Make sure you pick a guy who goes to church on Sundays and lives a life with God.
Make sure you pick a guy who respects you and therefore doesn’t pressure you into giving it up.
Instead, it is cool for these young girls to pick older guys, drop outs, unemployed men who are not responsible.
I hope no one is waiting for the government to do it. But because most of these kids come from broken homes with only one parent (who isn’t around), it is likely they will never get the message.

We are sooooo freaking busy giving away money, to include 15 billion to Israel and 12 to Eygpt, and 50 billion to fight world aids, 700 billion to rich bankers (which did not save even ONE mortgage loan for a citizen), to handing out loans to car makers.
We think we are rich!

The EPA is considering a Dairy Cow Tax of $175 per cow. Yep that is correct. Since those nasty old cows are responsible for .066 percent of greenhouse gases that equates into a huge new tax on dairy farmers (no, the cows can’t afford to pay anymore so than can the US Government).
So of course, milk costs go up to compensate for the lost farm family revenue.
But least we forget, the dairy industry is treated well by the Dept of Agr in federal subsidies.
So, congratulations my fellow Americans, you are about to get screwed twice!
And this is just the beginning of these new taxes.
They will do nothing to stop mother earth from warming. There is no promise the revenue will go to EPA causes. The government will just spend it on something else.

Wow! Someone more radical than me. I agree with most of it (accept maybe the IRS deal. It’s o.k. to not pay, but you have to file to avoid charges) We have been bouncing the mortgage idea around for awhile. They are thinking about a bailout of everyone who is 90 days deliquent on their mortgage. Why should I pay if I can get it for free? Problem is we have excellent credit score. Walked in and got a vacation home loan in no time flat. They about fell over each other when they saw our score.
Anyway, I understand what you are trying to do – get people motiviated. But I’m afraid, this blog is loaded heavily with sheep. They either a) don’t believe you b) don’t care c) expect the gravy train to continue providing handouts.

It can happen.

Ya know everybody, I have really been making a mistake. I have been rather rough on our resident lessie chicken farmer because I was told, and therefore ‘thought’, she could hold her own.
I was rough because I don’t like her vile mouth and the way she attacks everyone that doesn’t agree with her life style (lets see now, how many ex’s does she have), among many other things, but I was wrong.
She is to be pitied. She has a serious mental deficit, not just a lack of morals and character, but that too of course.

We did a fairly good job of policing ourselves. Hank did not like what was being said about Todd Tiahrt and complained to the editors who gave us registration.
Beyond keeping people from stealing nics, I can’t think of any good has come from it.

Years ago when I sometimes used unsavory language, I often used the expression “Bull Sh*t”. As I grew up a bit and discovered it was not necessary to use such crude language, that expression became “BS.”
Q. What did I really mean when I used those expressions?
A. I meant that something was ridiculous, or idiotic or a half truth or just stupid. It covered any number or negative formats. The dictionary defines it as: nonsense.
I have decided that I no longer will use either of those expressions in the future. When I have the need to express those feelings, I will use the word “Pelosi”.
Let me use it in a sentence. “That is just a bunch of Pelosi.” I encourage you to do the same. It is such a good word. It really packs a lot of punch. We are no longer being vulgar. But it clearly expresses our feelings. If enough of us use it, possibly we can get the word in the dictionary. And that would be an excellent legacy for this particular Speaker of the House.
Could have been Hank’s visit to the editors — he went with a list of bloggers who also wanted changes and wanted the place cleaned up. Could also have been that what they planned was finally in place and possible. I don’t know. You’ve been around longer than me and probably know more about it than I do. Guess whatever the reason, this is what we’ve got. ;-)

Good luck with your oil exploration, but you haven’t convinced me, or anyone with any sense of that. With the oil price so low again it as put the big breaks on any drilling. They can’t afford it. We leased a quarter several months ago for $175 an acre and 20% royalty, but now they wouldn’t think of a premium like that, or even trying to explore or drill. Gas maybe, but you said oil, and I have my doubts.

“Ohio Kentucky Oil, Corp. a privately held Canton Ohio based company with it’s operational headquarters located in Lexington, Kentucky has completed it’s 12th well in Trego County, Kansas. The Trego Play was initiated in September of 2004, drilling began in June of 2005 and will cover 32,000 acres +/- in Trego County Kansas, with options on an additional 80,000 acres +/-. OKOC is employing 3D seismic in areas that are determined by the aero magnetics, photo geology and 2nd order 3D residual geology gathered from more than 1,400 well logs.
The wells that we have drilled using the 3-D seismic have come in at 70 to 120 BOPD each. These wells are drilled in what was known to be depleped oil fields. But we were fortunate to find virgin pressures employing the 3-D seismic within these depleted fields. We are very excited to move into our Wildcat drilling areas to discover what we feel are over looked opportunities here in Trego county. While we cannot speak to the volume of oil yet to be recovered, we feel certian that we have abundant reserves to harvest.”
Yeah, it’s expensive to get out of the ground right now, but this is a multi year project, and these guys are in it for the long term and are NOT stopping operations.
