More Gitmo detainees improperly held

The Bush administration last weekend quietly released another detainee at Guantanamo Bay, saying that the Afghan man “should no longer be deemed an enemy combatant.” Not only was he not a combatant, sworn statements from Afghan officials corroborate how the man was on our side in fighting the Taliban, but he was turned in by someone from a rival clan who wanted his job. In the past three months, courts or military tribunals have declared that at least 24 detainees were improperly held. This was after the Bush administration assured that only the “worst of the worst” remained at Gitmo.

If they’re really bad then it shouldn’t be difficult to file charges against them. The terrorists responsible for the first WTC bombing were caught and prosecuted, the Bush regime can’t manage this and leave their failures for the new, elected administration to handle.

Chill, Phill. Guantanamo and all of America’s problems and transgressions will be a thing of past tomorrow, or by the end of the week at the latest, after the Big B O hits the office in the morning. Don’t be so hopeless and negative on this day of triumph and celebration.

ttt – it will take a bit longer than that for Obama to clean up the horrible messes Bush has created.

Yep, Obama wants to turn this detainees over to the Civilian court system where they can make several hundred circuses just like Zakariah Mousawi did in his prolonged laughable trial that mocked the justice system.

If Obama wants to close down GITMO, that’s fine. Just send the detainees to his home state of Illinois or better yet to Pelosi’s state in California.

So Reg..come up with any examples of how I’m so “cruel” to Nathan? Or are you going to continue to ignore my question because you can’t come up with anything?

    “Regular” proposes –

“…close down GITMO, that’s fine. Just send the detainees to his home state of Illinois or better yet to Pelosi’s state in California.”

Why not Kansas? Where, between Leavenworth, Lansing, El Dorado, et al, we have a particular talent for keeping people behind bars?

Sam “The Sham” Brownback objected to sending Gitmo prisoners to the federal prison in Kansas because, obviously, Sam’s convinced Kansans are too stupid or incompetent to keep bad guys in the pokey.

Brownback loses Kansas a lot of jobs when he fights against closing down Gitmo. Even worse, it shows Brownback’s instinctive contempt for Kansans.
