You should be grateful I am not now, nor have I ever been, a candidate for Kansas Governor.

Despite the tireless efforts of jeremy_shops@hotmail.com, I remain a non-candidate and your journey to Cedar Crest is unimpeded.

To: Brian_Nuevo. Governor Sebelius has built a career around except. It is her version of "BUT". She is just a huge "LOOP-HOLE". If I accept then I am following the peoples path, if I except, I would be following her protocal that you and others tolerate. I acknowledge my reversal or misuse of the text/spelling of the word accept. Thanks for the mention, view and communication. I hope others stay involved, we need a Governor, not a "LOOP-HOLE". Herbert West 3rd, yes, I would accept with few exceptions, the position of Governor. Only exception, I would be there for the people, not the Legislatures or myself. Stay involved, HLW3RD{D}. www.MiamiCountyOpinion.com

How's this for a scenario?
Nobody run for governor on the Democratic side. Instead, mount an organized campaign to write in Ron Thornburgh, with a good Democrat as running mate.
Then, when Thornburgh loses the GOP primary, he switches parties and becomes the Democrat nominee.
If Thornburgh wins, he would be enough of a gentleman to resign the nomination, and party leaders could turn to someone like Bill Koch or Les Kitchenmaster... a real businessman to run against the "gummit as a bidness" types.

As someone who lived through cycle of drought and the dust storms of the early 50s in Stevens County, I can tell you it isn't any fun.

Farmers are getting better at protecting the land, but sometimes it just isn't enough. Sandy SW Kansas is an almost desert that rises occasionally to show us we can work with, but will never conquer nature.

If Ksfarmgirl knows anything about the great dust storms of Kansas during the 30’s, she would have my support.
I would admit that I did not know enough about it until this past weekend after watching about it on the History channel.
Western Kansas has a natural recurring cycle of a drying period that can last as long as 13 years or longer and it is scary to know that historically the area can develop into a regional desert such as the Sahara Desert.
Kansas has a very high probability of returning to those dry days which is not only very important for Kansas but extremely important for our nation and for the rest of the world.

Topekan Steve Boyda mentioned above, is a former Marine too. (SSgt Vietnam era). If that is Nancy's husband.

Rhonda mentioned Rob Riggle was a Marine.

"If nothing else, think of the inaugural party.”"
I didn't know this:

The "classic" lineup of the band (Walsh, Peters, Fox) reunited to perform at an election rally for Bill Clinton at the Cleveland State University Convocation Center on November 4, 1996.

If not being a candidate for Governor necessitates my traveling to all 105 Kansas counties on a fact-finding tour to seek out the best fried chicken, barbecue, biscuits and gravy, and home-made chili, I will consider making that sacrifice.

Just don't send encouragement or money to jeremy_shops@hotmail.com

"Monkeyhawk" is not now nor has "Monkeyhawk" ever been a candidate for Governor of the great state of Kansas, Breadbasket of the World, the Cow-Killers of the Prairie, the state than sin forgot! God bless you and God bless the people of Kansas and the United States of America!

While we’re on this subject — why do men ‘of our age’ seem to maintain their trim virile figures so easily??
====================
From what I've notice, women are 'sneak snackers.' That is, they are constantly snacking on something in between meals.

Another thing is that they rationalize the types of food they eat. They choose a 1000 calorie giant 'chef salad' while snubbing the 800 calorie cheeseburger.

Plus, I've noticed women more often than not, eat desert always.
