Prospect of Impeachment Now Looms Over Blagojevich
Illinois lawmakers are unanimous on how they should handle disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich — potential impeachment
More at:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/elections/2008/12/16/prospect-impeachment-looms-blagojevich/
Put him on trial first, and then, yes, impeach him.
Impeachment requires evidence; be careful of what you wish for. Also, wouldn’t impeachment require Fitzgerald to reveal his case, and wouldn’t that in turn potentially poison his criminal case? What if Blagovevich were aquitted. Plus, you get a circus for months.
What’s worse, selling a senate seat, or starting a war based on lies. I know what the republicans will say…
From what I’ve read, the Illinois legislature can impeach the Governor for almost any reason. Evidence or not, they are going to ‘fast fry’ Blagojevich.
Impeachment for not being popular. Now that’s a concept. It’s like high school.

======================
They can find all that missing ice from Minnesota to Missouri. It just landed recently and is responsible for impassable roads and downed power lines.
What did Obama know, and when did he know it?
SOMEbody from Obama’s close staff HAD to talk to Blogo. That SOMEbody HAD to communicate Obama’s desire to replace him in the senate to Blogo.
Obama HAD to care and personally want to have someone “worthy” replace him in the Senate.
So what did he know – and when.
As I have said before, the case against Blaggo is not air-tight.

“There must be no whitewash at the White House.”
“One year of Watergate is enough.”
“How much money do you need?” Nixon asked. John Dean: “I would say these people are going to cost a million dollars over the next two years.” Nixon: “We could get that … you could get a million dollars. And you could get it in cash. I, I know where it could be gotten–” Dean: “Uh-uh.” Nixon: “I mean, it’s not easy but it could be done.”
“I want you all to stonewall it, let them plead the Fifth Amendment, cover-up, or anything else, if it’ll save it, save the plan.”
“I’ll pardon the bastards.”
“Let me just say this, and I want to say this to the television audience: I made my mistakes, but in all of my years of public life, I have never profited, never profited from public service – I have earned every cent. And in all of my years of public life, I have never obstructed justice. And I think, too, that I could say that in my years of public life, that I welcome this kind of examination, because people have got to know whether or not their President is a crook. Well, I am not a crook. I have earned everything I have got.”

People on this board ought to stop acting like high school girls who have caught one of their own wearing their spirit award pin on the wrong side of their sweaters.

Haw, haw, haw.
“the case against Blaggo is not air-tight”
Please: They have his voice on tape. The argument presented in your link is not material to the fact that he tried to sell Obama’s senate seat.
Your link is legalize – is there enough evidence to CONVICT?
Whether or not they can get a conviction does not change or undo the UNETHICAL conduct by a democrat governor.
Apparently, the Illinois state legislature is not “waiting” with baited breath for a conviction:
“SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois State House voted unanimously on Monday evening to begin efforts to impeach Rod R. Blagojevich, the Democratic governor arrested last week in a web of corruption, including, prosecutors say, efforts to make money off the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.” NY Times
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081216/ap_on_re_us/mortal_kombat_death;_ylt=ApbbTeqRs6dDHyRzhlMFALRvzwcF
Un-freaking-real.
Why am I reminded of the legalize during the Clinton administration?
“I did not have sex with that girl….”
Legalize justification of unethical behavior.
Too bad he doesn’t even have the character to just step down…the fact that he’s going to make them go through a huge legal process and spend all that money to do so shows his lack of concern or caring for his state. What an asshole.
Or he didn’t do anything, M.C. We don’t know what’s on the tapes. We have about two minutes of quotations lifted out of context. What if there are hours of statements by Blaggo that the process has to be fair and aboveboard, and what is best for the people of Illinois? What if during moments of frustration and worry, he blew off about obtaining something for himself. As for the other charges, one rests on the testimony of a convicted felon, and the other, trying to get journalists fired, is so banal that it is beneath consideration. I’ve had powerful people try to get me fired because I reported people drank beer at Octoberfest. It’s just what they do.
” one rests on the testimony of a convicted felon,”
Now who would that be? Another Obama big supporter perhaps?
People drank beer at Octoberfest? Isn’t that what it’s about? Was it NOT Christmas beer?
Here are the facts about Obama’s Chicago home:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=a_9sOMpy91Js&refer=us
Reporting from Washington and Chicago —
Barack Obama said Monday that an internal investigation had found his staff had no inappropriate conversations with Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich over who would succeed the president-elect in the Senate.
But Obama said the review of his staff’s contacts would not be made public until next week at the request of federal prosecutors, who are investigating whether Blagojevich put Obama’s Senate seat up for sale.

“I had no contact with the governor’s office, and I had no contact with anybody in the governor’s office,” Obama said at a news conference called to introduce his energy and environment team. He said the review showed the Blagojevich scandal “had nothing to do with my office.”
Obama’s comments came as Illinois state lawmakers moved to impeach Blagojevich. The Illinois House voted 113 to 0 to create an investigations committee to consider allegations that the governor, a Democrat, had abused his office.

Defending the indefensible.
Why not be straightforward and release what information you know?
“President-elect Barack Obama said Monday that he is withholding, for now, an internal review of his staff’s contact with the office of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich at the request of the U.S. attorney handling the governor’s corruption case.
Obama, speaking at a press conference, said the review was “thorough and comprehensive” and backed up his previous claim that his aides were not involved in any wrongdoing.
“There was nothing in the review … that in any way contradicted my earlier statement that this appalling set of circumstances that we’ve seen arise had nothing to do with my office,” Obama said.”" Fox news
So much for a new and open government!
(Someone needs to start a list of Broken Obama Campaign Promises BOCP)
Obamagate?
Blogogate?
Is the concept that a man is innocent until proven guilty indefensible, Bleatwood?
Obama is going to hit the ground with a lie?
“But the timeline of activity outlined in the FBI’s 76-page complaint against Blagojevich suggests Obama’s team was aware that his home-state governor was playing political hardball in the weeks before his arrest.
That’s because shortly after Blagojevich allegedly told his advisers, in an expletive-laced conference call, that he would not appoint Obama’s pick to the Senate absent huge favors in return, Obama’s apparent pick promptly dropped out of the running for the Senate and joined the new White House staff.
“Reading between the lines … clearly somebody from (Obama’s) operation did have a conversation with Blagojevich,” Democratic strategist Bob Beckel told FOX News.
FOX News has confirmed that Valerie Jarrett, a senior Obama adviser, is the individual identified in the Blagojevich affidavit as Senate Candidate 1. ”
Wasn’t it the coverup which got Nixon in trouble too?
Ummm — AmWay??? How is this not “open government”? Or are you experiencing reading difficulties?? The review will not be made public until next week, due to a request from federal prosecutors…. Looks like you need some new “flaming” talking points… LOL

Blagojevich was arrested the morning of December 9th. Obama didn’t make a statement until late in the day
on December 15th. It took Obama a full week, to include a weekend, to get their response together? What
kind of leadership is that? Can’t communicate within his own personal staff – knowing FULL WELL what he,
himself Obama knew? Of course he had to know what he communicated to his staff when they talked to Blago….
He had to know all along.
So why couldn’t Obama just be honest last week and tell us he was not involved?
What did Obama know – and when did he know it?
“Is the concept that a man is innocent until proven guilty indefensible, Bleatwood?”
That works nicely in a court of Law.
Not in the real world.
You want to defend OJ? He’s not guilty, right?
Your horse is dead, “American_Way” –
Stop beating it.
Patrick Fitzgerald requested Obama refrain from releasing any more information until the prosecutor’s say so.
Last I noticed, O.J was in the pokey.
Hee hee hee heeeeeee…
The next four years are going to be so much fun for amway and his/her ilk. If they are this whiney now, they’ll be jumping off bridges before obama’s first term ends.
And america will be a better place for it.
Squirm worms, squirm!
And remember all those super powers you gave bushco?
hehehhe. HAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAH.
They now belong to president obama. Spying on citizens, eavesdropping with no warrant, unlimited powers…
Oh yeah. Watching obama use all the power you so willingly gave to bushco is going to be SO MUCH FUN!
“remember all those super powers you gave bushco?”
And now those powers are completely acceptable to the blue mass.
Amazing.
“Patrick Fitzgerald requested Obama”
When Monkeyhawk? When did Fitz ask Obama not to talk about Blogo?
An honest man would have come clean last week – when it happened.
Hell, Obama KNEW he was innocent, right?
“Spying on citizens, eavesdropping with no warrant, unlimited powers…”
Sounds impeachable. If it were true.
“American_Way” –
It was in the news.
Try reading it sometime.

And your horse

The man will get a fair hearing, if he wants one.
But I do recall the many horrid things from your side of the aisle about our own Governor Sebelius on this board. Yet Blago gets defended?
Priceless!
Transparency and change we can believe in.
Same ole same ole.
Looks like, along with all our other problems, we’re heading for stagflation. Good Job, Bushie. Fed running out of ammo and going to have to inflate the money supply, while banks hoard the cash given to them by the govt.
“unlimited powers”?? Oh they did away with the Congress and the Supreme Court? I missed that!
“It was in the news.”
No, it was not in the news. That’s the point.
Obama could have proclaimed being innocent LAST WEEK.
Immediately after Blogo was arrested last Tuesday morning.
He did not.
Obama needs to do like bush, and promise to promptly fire anyone involved with pay to play with Blogo.
That’s what Bush Would Do!
“going to have to inflate the money supply, while banks hoard the cash given to them by the govt.”
govt = democrats controlled congress
Or did you forget we have a congress approving the spending of all this money?
A Japanese company ( Toyota ) and an American company (GM) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River . Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.
On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.
The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.
Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.
Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.
They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.
Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team’s management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents, and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.
They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the ‘Rowing Team Quality First Program,’ with meetings, dinners, and free pens for the rower .. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes, and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.
The next year the Japanese won by two miles.
Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year’s racing team was out-sourced to India.
Sadly ………….. The End.
But here’s something else to think about ……
GM has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can’t make money paying American wages.
TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US. The last quarter’s result:
TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while GM racked up 9 billion in losses.
GM folks are still scratching their heads.

But… but… but…
When the market is up you claim “YEAH OBAMA!!!”
Market is down? “That damned ole Bush”
Nice game.
HA! That’s what Bush Would Do! But then he wouldn’t really DO IT!
Question to President Bush: And, and, do you stand by your pledge to fire anyone found to have done so?
THE PRESIDENT: Yes. And that’s up to the U.S. Attorney to find the facts.
Near as I can tell, Blagojevich’s culpable crime is conspiracy to commit influence peddling.
That’s a pretty serious crime but there’s — so far — no smoking gun that any of those requests or offers were acted upon. Unless another shoe falls. Fitzgerald is too good a prosecutor to blow his reputation on this case, so I suspect we’ll hear more than Blagojevich’s current snake nest of outrage, arrogance, and stupidity.
Impeachment is a political, not judicial, undertaking.
Keeping those issues separate is important for both processes.
Blagojevich is worthless as a politician and a public servant now. That’s pretty clear to everyone except Hair Boy.
Whether he’s a criminal or not requires a bit more substance than we’ve seen so far.
I’ve never been a great fan of the crime of “conspiracy.” I mean, if I went out and killed “Nathaniel’s” dog, I’d be committing a crime. But if I tell you I’m planning to kill “Nathaniel’s” dog, they could arrest us both for “Conspiracy,” even if you talk me out of it.
Blagojevich is a mess, possibly even a sociopath. I’m just not convinced, yet, that he’s a criminal.
“Blagojevich is a mess, possibly even a sociopath. I’m just not convinced, yet, that he’s a criminal.”

Monkey doesn’t this make you wonder why Fitz chose to arrest Blog now. He was under surveillance and had been during the election. By waiting a few more weeks he would have been able to catch him in the act of selling a senate seat.
Why did he do it now. Why wait until the election was over. Why do it during a holiday season. Not enough evidence to prove a crime. Tell Obama not to talk. These are the things a conspiracy therorist could go to town on. Don’t you think?

AmWay, This entire story has been on every news broadcast since the day Blago was arrested… EVERY right wing talk radio show immediately jumped on the “nut” wagon of accusing Obama of being involved… What plastic bubble have you been living in??? You do know there are shelters now, so you dont have to stay under the bridges??? LOL
Please to note, Obama’s seat was not officially vacant until AFTER the election… Fitzgerald is anything but a loyal Democrat…
C’mon y’all… pleast try to keep up!!
chass it isn’t the weekend yet. Why are you out of the home?
If Fitz could wait for three months to arrest Blago then why not a few more weeks and catch them in the act. Just maybe because the rat he was going to catch was further up the food chain than Blago. Obama made a stupid statement right off. Of course someone from his team should have been talking to Blago about his replacement in the senate. That would have been prefectly acceptable. Now he has put Emanuel in a bad position because he was talking to Blago and Obama is trying to get out of that one.
Tranparency and change we can depend on!
okob — I do not recall addressing you directly… Nor do I intend to… Please follow story as it has been reported.
I see no conspiracy involved.
“okobserver” –
Why now?
I dunno.
As I posted above, it’s pretty evident Blagojevich is a mess; politically, possibly criminally, and almost certainly mentally.
Do you wait until the cash actually changes hands before you indict Blagojevich? Maybe? Maybe it already has. Do you pre-empt the crime by getting Blagojevich out of the way politically by preventing the crime. (If I’m a cop and I see two armed thugs in ski masks entering a liquor store, do I have to wait ’til they come out and have actually committed a robbery before I go after them?)
It doesn’t sound criminal in the least that the Senator from Illinois and the Governor of Illinois might have — directly or through staff members — talked about the upcoming vanancy. It’s patently exculpatory for Obama that Blagojevich whined the president-elect’s people “…won’t give me anything but ‘appreciation.’”
Or maybe Fitzgerald is that “…over-zealous prosecutor…” you CONs were bitching about back when he nailed Scooter Libbey.
Chass do you have to directly address someone on this blog or are you making new rules? I made a statement and you have now addressed me directly. So I guess I can ask why you are out of the home so early in the week?
Obama made some serious tactical errors in the way he handled this problem. He tends to do that as was shown during his election. It worked well for him then and I’m sure he thought it would carry over into his prezidenzy.
The press is fickle as he has now learned. Transparency is needed now.
Just wait until Obama pardons the Illinois Gov., won’t that be a hoot!
Monkey I really don’t have any more faith in Fitz now than I did then. If you remember he didn’t convict on the charges he went after with Pflame. He got Libby on not remembering something the same way Tim Russert remembered it. Others such as Novack remembered it as Libby did. The original leaker Armitage wasn’t even prosecuted. That said I think he has pulled the plug on this investigation way too early. If he was going after Blago for a serious violation then he should have let him have running room until he took the cash.
Fitz has got nuthin, nuthin to see here, move on.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Freepers like grmie need a little more fuel for their conspiracy fires. This is the FUNNIEST thing I’ve read on the cons and their efforts to discredit the results of the presidential election.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132×7984723
I’m gonna put all my investment money in tinfoil and wait for the cons to buy….
I think Fitz’s timing has EVERYTHING with Blago and his threats against Bank of America, and little to do with his alleged efforts in the sale of the senate seat. They HAD to stop him before B of A lost millions.
(whispering “tin foil” in the ears of the cons)
I fail to see how my location has any connection to this thread, or indeed, the Blog… Geez… the brainless ramblings of some of the CONS when confronted with realities of which they are incapable of understanding….
fermie and chass the state of the inquiry when the plug was pulled isn’t the important thing here. The economy has sunk to a new low and BofA couldn’t have been hurt to a large extent by anything Blago did. Letting the investigation go on would have revealed even more corruption in the state of Illinois many think.
As for Obama I don’t think he was involved personally and I would like to see him take office without a cloud over his head. That said he has to be honest and forthcoming with what action he and those on his staff took.
Simple as that. Conspiracies – well those are on the left side from what I can tell.

Very well said. Obama either:
1. Had something to hide, and needed a full week to come up with a plan to cover his butt.
2. Is totally out of connection with his close and personal staff.
Take you pick.

15 yards!?!?!? Man that was only a 5 yarder!!! 15 yards? C’mon ref, get your glasses checked !!!

You are also a good observer of the press. The love affair with Obama will go stale eventually. I’m betting that it will be sooner rather than later. Obama doesn’t take a stand on the hard issues. He is afraid to.
He voted “present,” effectively sidestepping the issue, an option he invoked nearly 130 times as a state senator.
That won’t work setting on the sky line as the nations leader.

Is There A Bigger Story Behind Spitzer’s Downfall?
By Susie Madrak Tuesday Dec 16, 2008 9:00am
Via Skimble, a most interesting theory:
I have yet to see this reported anywhere, but an anonymous commenter named trademonster on an investment forum said this (notice the dates):
01-09-06 06:49 AM
I’ve heard that SEC is going to shut down Madoff financial and all of their hedge funds for SEC violations. Can anyone confirm this?
And this:
01-14-06 02:52 PM
I actually got some update and found out that it’s Spitzer’s office doing the investigation not SEC. But I don’t know what the scope of the investigation is.
Suddenly Spitzer’s dalliances with a hooker don’t seem quite as fundamentally important to the financial health of this country.
We need people who understand the system to police it. No matter how sanctimonious or egomaniacal you may find him, Spitzer understands the financial system. If these posts are true, somebody in power was more interested in the the details of Eliot Spitzer’s transactions than Bernard L. Madoff’s. They were obviously more interested in killing the watchdog than in catching the billionaire burglar.
And via Corrente, something even more interesting from Michael Isikoff’s Newsweek story about the FISA whistleblower:
[Under the secret and illegal "Stellar Wind" program of domestic warrantless surveillance,] NSA was also able to access, for the first time, massive volumes of personal financial records—such as credit-card transactions, wire transfers and bank withdrawals—that were being reported to the Treasury Department by financial institutions. These included millions of “suspicious-activity reports,” or SARS, according to two former Treasury officials who declined to be identified talking about sensitive programs. (It was one such report that tipped FBI agents to former New York governor Eliot Spitzer’s use of prostitutes.) These records were fed into NSA supercomputers for the purpose of “data mining”—looking for links or patterns that might (or might not) suggest terrorist activity.
Lambert asks an important question: How did the suspicious activity report on Spitzer’s financial transaction get from the NSA to the FBI?
He also notes the convenient timing, because Spitzer at the time was looking into the monoline insurance companies – another important piece of the Wall St. crash.
Was the Bush administration using illegally obtained information to take down political enemies? Oh, I think it’s a safe bet. And do you suppose they were deliberately trying to keep Spitzer from exposing extensive Wall St. fraud?
Amway if I leave Chas alone he could run rampant and destroy civilization as we know it forever.
“Shit just keeps whizzing over your head?”
And we all should recognize originality.
Everything else is just average and leads to dummying DOWN OF SOCIETY.
(oops sorry for the caps. Mild headache coming on. Could be a stro………
Boy Monkey that is one large stretch. We do know however that politicians are corrupt – both republicans and democrats.
Someone should investigate how the SEC let this go on for so long. Whoever is involved it looks as if the tax payers might once again be called on to pick up the tab.

————-
I think I heard this theory from Michael Savage a while back. Yup. Google Savage and Spitzer.
Ok, I’ll play. Fitz was forced to announce his investigation and bring charges, because on Jan. 20th, Obama was going to fire Fitz, and bury the investigation.
Blago, won’t resign, or talk, because he’s been promised a full pres. pardon, and a cushy appointment.
Since annie_moose seems MIA –
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KMhuAtyFCrw
Phantom,
I think you have the first part right. Fitz is protecting his seat. The second part, I don’t see. Might be Blago’s perspective, but I don’t see Obama following through with it. Maybe at the end of his term, but not sooner.
Interesting, “outlander” –
If Michael Savage believes it my first reaction obviously is it’s screwball.
Still, he’s pretty abusive of Shrub in this clip:

Seems you CONs have yet to get your lies straight. And you’re all in a circular firing squad.
Those crazy Aussies are going straight to hell.
Students to be taught there’s no God
VICTORIAN state primary school students will soon be able to take religious education classes which teach there is no evidence God exists.
The Humanist Society of Victoria has developed a curriculum for primary pupils that the state government accreditation body says it intends to approve, The Sunday Age newspaper reported.
Accredited volunteers will be able to teach their philosophy in the class time allotted for religious instruction, the newspaper said.
As with lessons delivered by faith groups, parents will be able to request that their children do not participate.
“Atheistical parents will be pleased to hear that humanistic courses of ethics will soon be available in some state schools,” Victorian Humanist Society president Stephen Stuart said.
The society does not consider itself to be a religious organisation and believes ethics have “no necessary connection with religion”.
Humanists believe people are responsible for their own destiny and reject the notion of a supernatural force or God.
“Conventional wisdom holds that U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald ordered the FBI to arrest Rod Blagojevich before sunrise Tuesday in order to stop a crime from being committed. That would have been the sale of the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.
But the opposite is true:”

‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE IMPLEMENTATION, AND ALL THRU THE HOUSE
NOT A PROGRAM WAS WORKING, NOT EVEN A BROWSE.
THE PROGRAMMERS HUNG ‘ROUND THEIR TUBES IN DESPAIR
IN HOPES THAT A MIRACLE SOON WOULD BE THERE.
THE USERS WERE NESTLED ALL SNUG IN THEIR BEDS
WHILE VISIONS OF INQUIRIES DANCED IN THEIR HEADS.
WHEN OUT ON THE CONSOLE THERE AROSE SUCH A CLATTER,
I SPRANG FROM MY DESK TO SEE WHAT WAS THE MATTER.
AND WHAT TO MY WONDERING EYES SHOULD APPEAR
BUT A SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER WITH A SIX PACK OF BEER.
HIS RESUME GLOWED WITH EXPERIENCE SO RARE
HE TURNED OUT GREAT CODE WITH A BIT PUSHER’S FLAIR.
MORE RAPID THAN EAGLES, HIS PROGRAMS THEY CAME,
AND HE WHISTLED AND SHOUTED AND CALLED THEM BY NAME:
ON UPDATE! ON INQUIRY! ON ADD! ON DELETE! ON BATCH JOBS!
ON CLOSING! ALL FUNCTIONS COMPLETE.
HIS EYES WERE GLAZED OVER, FINGERS NIMBLE AND LEAN
FROM LATE NITES AND WEEKENDS SPENT GLUED TO THE SCREEN.
A WINK OF HIS EYE AND A SIP OF HIS BEER,
SOON GAVE ME TO KNOW I HAD NOTHING TO FEAR.
HE SPOKE NOT A WORD, BUT WENT STRAIGHT TO HIS WORK,
TURNING SPECS INTO CODE, TILL HE TURNED WITH A JERK.
AND LAYING HIS FINGER UPON HIS ENTER KEY
THE SYSTEM CAME UP AND WORKED PERFECTLY.
THE UPDATES UPDATED, THE DELETES THEY DELETED,
THE INQUIRIES INQUIRED, THE CLOSING COMPLETED.
HE TESTED EACH WHISTLE AND TESTED EACH BELL
WITH NARY AN ABEND AND ALL HAD GONE WELL.
THE SYSTEM WAS FINISHED, THE TESTS WERE CONCLUDED,
THE USERS’ LAST CHANGES WERE EVEN INCLUDED.
BUT THE USER EXCLAIMED WITH A SNARL AND A TAUNT,
IT’S JUST WHAT I ASKED FOR; BUT NOT WHAT I WANT!
I’m the “fool on the hill” here, I’m okay with that. Because when shit happens, I’ll be on the high ground up here, picking off all of you (on both sides) that are cool with corruption.
Insane, miserable people.
And again, all of those powers that Bushco gave himself…if Obama was anything more than Bush, he’d rescind those powers. But since he’s not (any different) and you all live in Disneyland, he will “stay the course”.
Fools.
More about Sen. Inhofe (R-Oil), who outlander insists is honest and credible.
‘Senator James Inhofe Rehashed Skeptic Screed Getting Old‘
http://www.desmogblog.com/senator-james-inhofe-skeptic-report-global-warming-screed
Yup Monkey. From what little I hear of Michael Savage, he is not a fan of Bush. Probably for different reasons than you though.
Just thought you’d want to know when you two think alike.
“Pleefer” –
While your at it, telling us all what “will” happen, can you give me tomorrow night’s winning PowerBall numbers?
Wall Street has stolen 1000 trillion dollars from us and you argue about the stupidest shit. When is enough enough? Notice that all of these sumbiches, ie; Kaskari, Paulson, Obama… are all from Illinois. Nah, there’s no corruption coming out from there.
Oh look. There’s Cosmos. And surprise, he wants to play AGW copy and paste.
Stop beating your cats yet Cosmos?
Do your homework Flunkey. I am not telling you anything, I don’t want to help you at all. I want you to fail. I want to feel massive pain. And I sure wouldn’t want to see you win any lottery. I relish the fact that you’re a know-it-all. Hell, you all deny reality and will get what’s coming to you.
Merry Christmas.
Here’s some “American Justice”. From The Agitator:
So the Indianapolis Star runs two stories in two days about two criminal cases.
One story is about a cop who was pulling over Hispanic motorists for no reason, then threatening to arrest them on trumped up charges unless they paid him off.
The other story is about a guy who was using the postal system to sell to consenting adults movies depicting other consenting adults having sex with one another.
One guy was robbing motorists, his gun visible on his hip, and abusing his power to shake them down. The other was conducting voluntary business transactions with people who were getting exactly what they paid for, with no coercion, exploitation, or violence.
One of these men got 33 months in prison. The other got one year of “home detention” followed by probation. He’ll also get to leave his home for work and schooling.
Can you guess which man got which sentence?
Great XMAS poem SOL! I shared it with others involved with our systems life cycle management.
As a systems analyst, I have this on my desk:
http://www.bnpositive.com/blog/2007/10/30/the-life-of-software-development-geeks/
But for those that actually give a shit about themselves and their fellow countrymen (not just your piece of shit political party). Look for Obama calling for a “Bank Holiday” wherein you will not be able to withdraw any of your money. Then we’ll see some Greek-type fun going on here in the States. It’s coming soon. THIS IS ALL ENGINEERED.
But for Flunkeyfawk, this wasn’t for you.
Grateful Dave, that’s EXACTLY where we’re going. Unless American’s wake the fark up, we’ll be no better than Mexico in 5 years (financially or judicially). (again, not for Flunkey)

LOL!
That’s your response to my posting proof that your honest(sic) Sen. Inhofe (R-Oil) spread lies and falsehoods?
outlander, why don’t you post some proof supporting your claim that Inhofe is honest? Because you cannot — he’s a liar.
Why waste time writing about this. Obama can do whatever he wants. Please, write more stories about his puppies and how he likes to play basketball. Obama is Untouchable. He can buy houses with other peoples money and say it was a “bone headed” thing to do and ‘journalists’ could care less.

This from Monkey’s page shows what the American public has been reduced too. We just accept that politicians are corrupt and let them keep picking our pockets and robbing us blind. Until we stop fighting with each other and start being more selective in who we vote for we deserve what we get.
On that note – I guess Chas couldn’t accept the fact that Frmgrl is a ‘tin foil hat’ believer and has gone off to lick his chops.
Not sure what you’re trying to achieve here, “outlander” –
I merely cut-and-posted (and credited it) a piece from another website.
It’s not my opinion, necessarily. The most interesting aspect of the cut-and-post was the fact Madoff’s scam was on somebody’s radar over a year ago. As the quoted e-mails reveal.
Guess all those financial wizards who lost $50 Billion dollars to a Ponzi scheme won’t have the “nobody could see it coming” card to play.
Elliot Spitzer was obviously a fool, just like Rod Blagojevich is a fool. I mean, if you are a politician these days with a taste for $3,000-a-night hookers, maybe you should reconsider your career track. If you’re a greedy sombitch with a Senate seat to sell, perhaps you should do it with a bit more… I dunno, finesse?
Everyone know politics is rife with favors and trade-offs and grants and donations and quid pro quo. But at least have a little intelligence or logic or style about it.
Like the Valarie Plame outing, the Spitzer thing seems quite likely to correlate with BushCo’s tactics of attacking the messenger and distracting us from the underlying crime.
I dunno.
I’m not sure why David Vitter’s obsession with diapers and hookers gets a pass but Spitzer’s (apparently more or less mundane) assignations with a semi-lovely call girl has ruined his life and career.
On a semi-related note:
I read today that George WMD Bush’s proposed memoirs will include a chapter on why he still believes Harriet Meirs was qualified to be a SCOTUS justice. No wonder no publisher is interested in the book. In this post-Harry Potter world, other fantasy fiction isn’t a viable genre for sales.
“we’ll be no better than Mexico in 5 years ”
Isn’t that the intent? To dumb America down?
Well we better stop building the wall. We might need a way to sneak sur a America Central!
We’re already “dumbed-down”, this blog is a micro-cosm of that evidence. Our Presidential race was nothing more than a better budgeted Rikki Lake episode. We will be there soon enough. But don’t fret none, we’ll still get the NFL and Wal-Mart.
Stock market is up slightly over the last couple of hours. Does anyone know what Obama did to cause that?
Did he take a dump?
Obama forcing banks to close!! WHAHAHAHAHAH! So they can swap the money out for the new bills wit radio transmitters in them?
Or maybe so they can swap out the One Dollar Bills for the new one’s? (Since the dollar is worthless, they can put Bush’s face on it now!!!)
Oh you conspiracy theory nuts!!!
Oh and dont forget, Pleef, that we are STILL safe from gay marriage…

You also seem unable to understand that with Hansen lowering historical temperatures while raising more modern temperatures, you will see a warming trend.

The fall is always much harder from the top of the pile. For anyone to insinuate that this economic meltdown wouldn’t have happened if Bush hadn’t been prez is truly too naive to operate in life.
Records show where and when the bank meltdown started and we can thank among others Maxine Watters and Barney Frank for that. It would have happened period.
Now what do intelligent people do about it?
I heard on the radio that Fitzgerald is talking to the appraiser who is suing the bank for wrongful termination over the Obama-Rezko land deal.
Perhaps because Blago’s wife was the Realtor on the deal. My friends in the real estate business tell me the Realtor is often responsible for obtaining these real estate services.

A reform bill he pushed is credited – in part – with pushing Blago over the edge.

RE: David’s doomsday –
“Recent massive volcanoes have risen from the ocean floor deep under the Arctic ice cap, spewing plumes of fragmented magma into the sea, scientists who filmed the aftermath reported Wednesday.
The eruptions — as big as the one that buried Pompei — took place in 1999 along the Gakkel Ridge, an underwater mountain chain snaking 1,800 kilometres (1,100 miles) from the northern tip of Greenland to Siberia.
Scientists suspected even at the time that a simultaneous series of earthquakes were linked to these volcanic spasms.
But when a team led of scientists led by Robert Sohn of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts finally got a first-ever glimpse of the ocean floor 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) beneath the Arctic pack ice, they were astonished.
What they saw was unmistakable evidence of explosive eruptions rather than the gradual secretion of lava bubbling up from Earth’s mantle onto the ocean floor.”

LMFAO!
Okay – I got something to say today. At present, I only have a few moments per day of computer access (my home PC’s still as dead as Paul Hill’s prostate). This post pertains to a few posts from yesterday’s open thread. But by the time they were posted, I was long gone, so……
I’ve been keeping silent about something, not because a signer of the Justifiable Homicide Petition says I should because I’m the sillier sex. Not because I hate myself and want to die, as did Kurt Cobain, and look what the hellola happened to that poor sap.
Nope – I’ve been exuding equanimity because I believe there are probably valid sociological points to be made. And I’ve been allowing observers to form their own impressions instead of interjecting any invective. However……
Parkay, if you’re trying to equate all us post-abortives with the criminals you regularly inform us about here on Kansas.com, I shall have to reject this outright. Can’t help it – I just viewed a fairly nauseating 20/20 documentary on Casey Anthony, the accused murderer of little Caylee Anthony, who is likely dead by her mother’s hand.
Sociopathic narcissism is a frightening thing. And not one post-abortive woman with whom I’ve communicated is a super-duper match for Ms. Anthony – not one. Some of us have regrets, some of us do not. Some of us look back critically at our younger selves, some do not. Some of our emotions have remained static – others have not.
But by golly – I can’t think of one post-abortive woman with whom I’ve spoken (or man, for that matter), who fits the pattern of Anthony – or the criminals you’ve cited.
I believe there are valid points to be made, certainly. But I just couldn’t remain silent any longer. And watching that 20/20 program just sort of turned my gut. That wasn’t me, even as a teenaged idiot – not even close.
Is the delightful Ms. Anthony akin to the typical post-abortive woman? Oh, (Trew)hell(a), no.

http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/11/defending_cra.html

But that was then and this is now. Did CRA lending somehow run amuck during the housing bubble, causing trouble for both borrowers and lenders? Data collected in 2006 under the auspices of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act suggest not. Banks covered by CRA did make subprime loans, but the great majority of those loans went to middle- or upper-income borrowers or neighborhoods. In fact, of all the subprime loans made by banks covered by CRA, only 6 percent were CRA loans targeted borrowers in their assessment areas.
The real issue is that the CRA only applies to banks regulated by the federal government. The majority of the subprime loans made from 2001 to the peak in 2006 were made by mortgage entities not covered under the CRA. Thus, to the extent that such loans were made to low- and moderate-income borrowers—and many were with well-publicized negative consequences—it was not the government that “made them do it.” Rather, it was some combination of new, overly aggressive, financial products and selling techniques; perverse incentives of the originate-to-distribute model of mortgage financing; easy financing conditions; and, yes, pure greed.
Experience has shown that lending to low- and moderate-income families does not inevitably mean high delinquency or foreclosure rates when care is taken in the lending process and borrowers fully understand their obligations. Take the experience of the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance, which has assisted over 11,000 families of modest means in buying their first home. It boasts a delinquency rate roughly half that of conventional mortgage borrowers.
Cos had to turn off his computer to hook up the generator to the electric heater again.
Let us all pray for sunshine soon.
It would seem to me second nature to default to protecting the health of the planet and the future of the human race. I truly do not understand how any rational person would feel otherwise. I don’t think I WANT to understand such strange folk.
It would be nice if we could all care about our country and our planet. But, there are options to deal with those who would stand in the way.

Here are the facts about Obama’s Chicago home:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=a_9sOMpy91Js&refer=us
___________________________________________
A few more ‘facts’ the article left out:
The sale of Obama’s house was dependent on the sale of the lot next to it at the same time. Rezco stepped up and bought the lot which he had absolutely no use.
Rezco then sold Obama part of the lot adjacent to Obama’a house for which basically made the lot unsuitable for developing.

2008 temperature summaries and spin‘

Yesterday, Senator Tim Huelskamp (R-Fowler) stated that due to the economy and the fact that they provide abortions, that he wants to take appropriations away from Planned Parenthood here in Kansas. Huelskamp said it was offensive that over the past two years alone, Kansas taxpayers have “forked over” more than $550,000 to the abortion provider.“There is simply no reason in the world why the taxpayer dollars of hundreds of thousands of pro-life Kansans should be used to underwrite abortion providers in this state, particularly those under criminal indictment and investigation,” Huelskamp said in a statement distributed Monday.
Not only is he forgetting that the only reason Planned Parenthood is only under investigation is due to the personal agenda of Phill Kline, but that Planned Parenthood provides many useful and needed services for women in Kansas.
CAN YOU CALL SENATOR HUELSKAMP AND REMIND HIM THAT PLANNED PARENTHOOD IS MORE THAN “ABORTIONS”? With today’s economic situation, women will depend on Planned Parenthood more than ever for all the “other services” they provide. Planned Parenthood in Kansas provides:
Colonoscopies
Breast health screening
mammogram referrals
pregnancy testing
Pap tests
menopause education
hormone replacement therapy
STD testing and treatment
HIV testing and treatment
(this is only a sample of the many services they provide).
Please take a moment and call Senator Huelskamp. Let’s send a CLEAR AND RESOUNDING message that we will not tolerate funding for important services being taken away and our health sacrificed for his personal agenda. Please call Senator Huelskamp at 620-646-5413 and let him know that Planned Parenthood helps keep women healthy in many ways, and that with today’s economic struggles women will be depending on Planned Parenthood now more than ever for all the services they provide.
Suggest they cut funding for their baby- abstinence only funding, that is shown to be not at all helpful.
And likewise, if you support the Senator, be sure to let him know.
Olberman had an interesting compilation of internet twists on bush shoe ducking. Fun stuff.
Only you outlander, would deny all of those services to poor women simply because you don’t like abortion.
Yeah right Pmom. What a charade Planned Parenthood puts on.
Or maybe they fund just those ancillary services.
Surely reasonable minds can reach a compromise. Right, Pmom?
“What a charade Planned Parenthood puts on.”

Women need colonoscopies too you know.
It has nothing to do with ‘fudge packing’. What rude SOBs you are.
NO funding goes to abortions AS IT IS.
Women need colonoscopies too you know.
===================
Planning Parenthood?
I am aware they need colonoscopies too. I am a woman who does have these on ocassion. Just not sure why the equipment to administer these would be available at a planned parenthood facility.
Pmom what did you mean by ‘no money goes to abortion as it is’? Not sure this is accurate.
Funding doesn’t go to abortions- the antis made sure of that long ago. Planned Parenthood is a women’s clinic. It isn’t just for abortions. Why is it that’s all you think these things do or are you all really that ignorant?
I’m just asking some questions. No crime I hope. You want to protect this place and I’m not sure about it.
Still no answer about the colonoscopies. I doubt if the workers there are trained to do this. They are many complications if not done properly.
To my knowledge PP does abortions. They also receive federal money. Is this kept separate. How do you know they don’t fund abortions with this money. Ignorance has nothing to do with it.
Inquiring minds will ask questions. Sorry you didn’t have the answer. I really did want to know.
the antis made sure of that long ago.
——————–
Actually, we haven’t.
Grm, I swear.
If you go into a hospital and have a …colonoscopy. The woman in the next room has an ectopic pregnancy and has it removed. Did you just ‘fund’ an abortion?
NO! There are regulations on what you pay and for what, and what government funding can help you with YOUR procedure.
Just because the doctors there DO happen to perform abortions, that doesn’t mean that is the only thing they can do. Why would you think that a doctor wouldn’t be able to do a colonoscopy too?
It isn’t the health department…they actually are a real medical clinic.
P.M. has got to be the dumbest woman alive…Her past shows it.

“Jamie Morison, University of Washington (I went with Dr. Morison and the rest of the North Pole Environmental Observatory team to the North Pole sea ice in 2003):
It occurs to me that we have primary evidence that heat from the bottom is not reaching the ice. Temperature profiles from virtually everywhere in the Arctic Ocean display a maximum temperature at a depth from 200-400 [meters]. This is associated with the Atlantic Water entering the basin from the Norwegian Sea. Fundamental laws of physics require that below the depth of this maximum, the heat flux is downward. Very near the bottom temperatures have been found to increase with depth indicating a small upward heat flux from geothermal sources, which help to heat only the very deepest water.”

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — The niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is upset that the nation’s largest abortion business is using the image of her uncle and his words on its web site. Planned Parenthood has a section on its web page celebrating Black History Month and featuring quotes from pro-abortion African American leaders to sell itself to black Americans.
However, its use of King’s image and words is upsetting to his niece, Dr. Alveda King.
Alveda is a leading pro-life advocate who has been victimized by abortion and she shares the pain of her abortion decision and the hope of her pro-life message with thousands of people across the country every month.
“Planned Parenthood is no stranger to deception,” Alveda King told LifeNews.com. “I know firsthand because prior to my abortion, a Planned Parenthood doctor told me that my baby was just a ‘blob of tissue.’”
“Now, Planned Parenthood lies by trying to imply that my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., would somehow endorse the organization today,” she added. “He most certainly would not.”
Alveda King said that her uncle accepted an award from Planned Parenthood, but that it came before the abortion business started advocating or doing abortions.
Had that been the case at the time he received the award, Alveda says her uncle never would have accepted it.
“In 1966, neither the general public nor my uncle was aware of the true agenda of Planned Parenthood, an agenda of death that has become painfully obvious as the years have unfolded,” she explained.
“There is no way he would want his name or image associated today with Planned Parenthood, the group most responsible for denying civil rights to the over 45 million American babies killed by abortion, one-third of them African-American,” Alveda added.

Really? Then WHY do the anti-choice groups use the “indirectly” argument?
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122887146479593419.html
“Planned Parenthood receives about $335 million a year — a third of its budget — from government grants and contracts to subsidize contraception, sex education and non-abortion-related health care for poor women and teenagers.
The group is also the nation’s largest abortion provider, and critics have long argued that the public funds indirectly subsidize abortions by keeping hundreds of Planned Parenthood clinics afloat.”

King’s daughter doesn’t speak for him. I guess according to her, having black women strapped down with kids they can’t feed is a good thing. I think its best they get their education and ability to support herself and family before she gets loaded down with a bunch of kids. Poverty is an issue for black women, and kids doesn’t help.
THAT is why blacks seek more abortions. That and the fact that black fathers abandon their children in higher numbers. Both of these things need to change. Fix the problem and the need, and you’ll see fewer abortions. Sadly, they’re also more likely to have very dangerous pregnancy complications.
african american women are low on the earnings totem pole, they’re the last on the chain of wage earners. It shouldn’t be.
