Once a contender for vice president and seemingly a sure thing for a Cabinet post, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius now has removed herself from consideration for a Cabinet job in the Obama administration. The reason cited makes sense: the state’s severe budget problem. But that won’t stop speculation about what else might have influenced her big decision (a 2010 Senate run?).

HA! She gets her just reward!
I imagine what was said by her was said to save face, she was never offered, or going to be offered, anything.
Now you shouldn’t assume bawks.
You’ve already made enough of an ass of yourself.
I think a Senate run is likely. Difficult, unprecedented to do as far as I know from a Cabinet position. She could have a good chance at winning too.
Or maybe, just maybe, little Barry has used her and now discarded her like the pompous fool she is.

Show ‘e’ nuff!
All the good cabinet positions are taken. All that’s left is Secretary of Presidential Limosine Tire Pressure.
Too bad she isn’t a Republican, then she can run around the country trying to be in the spotlight. Or maybe Alaska is better off without Palin around to mess things up more.

She has tried sooo hard to be in the spot light…to bad she sucks ass.
Word is, Obama wanted Sebelius at VP but knew that would be seen as snubbing Senator Clinton.
I wouldn’t worry about Governor Sebelius’s future. The cons are out of power now. I don’t see that changing in the foreseeable future.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!
I think that phone call she had from obama a while back was a “sorry to disappoint you” call. He may have offered her something minor, but Hank’s right. Obama used her, she fell for it, and I wonder what the vetting process has turned up. Maybe nothing but that she polls poorly outside of Kansas, and she brings NOTHING to the table politically. She couldnt even help obama carry her state.
This state budget elephant in the room is just a way for her to gain some imaginary political capital when in fact, she’s saving face. Her status in the state is dropping like a stone. I dont think the repukes are too worried about her for ANYTHING in 2010.
Now, if she did something dramatic, like actually addressed the looming water crisis, she might rise again. But.. she’s too dumb. Look at how the kansas water office has operated under her.
I mean really. Joe Harkins then Tracy Streeter?
heh. HEHEHEHEH. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAH!
Sounds like Osama finally was honest with her, look, thanks for all the campaigning but quite frankly, you suck and I don’t want you in my Cabinet.
I have to wonder what Larry Gates is thinking now.
No one would ask her to dance….so she suddenly remembered she had another very important appointment to get to and quickly left with a sheepish little smile on her face.
It’s simply the wrong job at the wrong time.
Sebelius would be a good choice for HHS if healthcare reform were a slam dunk.
Insurance is in her political DNA, and administering it would be in her wheelhouse. But it’ll be a fight and Daschle is the better choice to advocate in Congress for the necessary legislation.
She knows a post such as Secretary of Agriculture would be a cliche appointment (Kansas = Agriculture) amd it’s really not her area of expertise and it’s not a prestige cabinet position.
With the Republic Party dominated legislature, Sebelius has a chance to wedge between the trads and the twice-born wing-nuts and marginalize Brownback’s base in 2010.
I still am not convinced Sam the Sham will retire from the Senate. He’s likely to conjure up some “the nation needs me in Washington” excuse and try to re-up for another six years away from his semi-lovely wife.
After all, he’d have no Opus Dei outlet for his religious self-flagellation if he were living at Cedar Crest.
If she was serious about the budget situation she would be addressing it right now with an executive order.
Gov. Bill Graves issued an executive order before the start of the legislative session after 911. The legislature was able to start work on budgets prior to the session starting in January.
Sebelius should do the same.
Just like the office secretary who sleeps with and falls in love with the boss, Sebelius has just woken up to the fact that she has been used. She has finally realized that he will never leave his wife and sweep her off her feet to some fairy tale life.
You just go back to your husband (Kansas) and try to win that Senate seat for us. Oh and be available in four years. I’m going to need you again.
Jenkins says we have a balanced budget with a $140,000,000.oo shortfall. Sebelius was removed by President Elect Obama and she cowarded out and is trying to salvage the mess we call Kansas. Herbert West 3rd, http://www.MiamiCountyOpinion.com
