Six-term Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Lenexa, has ended rumors about his future by telling the Kansas City Star, “I do intend to run again.” Speculation to the contrary may have emanated from the National Journal’s Hotline blog, which last week cited unnamed sources close to the congressman. That left many to wonder whether Moore was among those eyeing Sam Brownback’s Senate seat, which is opening up in 2010.

Which is it? Is Kansas congressman Dennis Moore going to run for his own congressional position OR is he going to run for the Kansas Senator’s position that Brownback is reputed to be vacating?
Frankly I hope we don’t see an epic battle between Moore and Jerry Moran which would loose one for Kansas.
I predict eye gouging and gonad kicking for Brownback’s vacated Senate position.
I’m still predicting Brownback won’t vacate his seat.
Jwink, with the Gov not taking a cabinet postion that increases the likleyhhod that she will run for the Senate so Moran most likely bowed out to avoid a primary fight. I wonder if Moran will do the same for Tiahrt. And if Tiahrt runs for the Senate how many people will run for his seat?
Doesn’t Dennis Moore kind of look like Bill O’Riley?
Brownback always keeps his word. You might disagree with him, but he always keeps his word.
He said he’d limit himself to two terms and he will.
Moore is a political hack and needs to go away; he is for sale to the highest bidder
Moore would not play well outside the Third Congressional District. In a state wide election, he would do alright in the KC area, but west of Lawrence he couldn’t get arrested.
Chris/Mactown: I think you forget or don’t know that Dennis Moore is from Wichita and his dad was a well respected Sedgwick County prosecutor. I imagine Dennis Moore could be elected to any position in Wichita that he would want.
People in Johnson County apparently respected him highly as Johnson County Prosecutor/District Attorney because they keep re-electing him to the U.S. Congress.
Incidentally, I wish someone would explain the difference in the Prosecutor and D.A. titles. Are they interchangable?
D.A is elected and a prosecutor isn’t?
