Even Palin is appalled at what was spent on her

John Edwards’ $400 haircut is looking like a bargain. New finance reports show that the Republican National Committee spent almost $55,000 on a fashion stylist for vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The McCain campaign also paid Palin’s traveling hair stylist and makeup artist more than $110,000 for about two months of work, the New York Times reported. And even after the controversy about the RNC spending $150,000 on clothes and accessories for Palin and her family, the spending continued. McCain’s staffers appear to have spent about $23,000 on Palin at stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, according to new finance reports. The spending apparently has shocked even Palin. A former senior adviser for the campaign said in a statement that Palin “is absolutely appalled at the news and the amount of money reportedly spent on the vice presidential campaign.”

Stopped clock AmWay is right, though not for the reasons he thinks. Liberals are, indeed, “mesmerized” at Sarah Palin’s continuing status as the de facto GOP 2012. But the only people she inspires to “masterbation” (sic) are Wingnuts like Hank Price and Nathan.

The title of this entry at “Indecision 2008″ says it all:

If Palin was such a maverick and went against her own party for what was right, she never once thought to ask how much money all this cost?

Besides that, if she was such a smart politician, then why did she not even think about how this would look to the voters.

Looks to me like this lipstick pitbull liked the Hollywood atmosphere and even threw herself headfirst into all the fashion and hair/makeup styling.

Last I heard, she and her family still have those clothes – I thought they were going to given to charity after the campaign?

    Amway,
I think the word you’re searching for is “horrified” over any political prospects of that botoxed one-chihuahua puppy mill with delusions of grandeur and 1930’s lipstick! Obviously she turns on conservatives who remember their Barbie dolls, but to the clear majority of us, she’s just plain disgusting.

Of course, “par for the course” would be what a ‘maverick’ approved.

    GO Sarah! PALIN 2012!

She energizes people from both ends of the political spectrum!

The very best part of this is that members of the Republican Party seem to be divided in their support of Palin while members of the Democratic Party are very united in their opposition of her.

Anything that divides the Republican Party is good in my book!

Palin, Huckabee Lead GOP Contenders for 2012

    Susan Davis reports on politics.

President-elect Barack Obama has another six weeks to go before he is sworn in, but there’s already chatter about who his potential Republican opponent will be in 2012.

To no surprise, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin—who helped John McCain energize the GOP base as his vice presidential pick—is the frontrunner among Republican voters according to a CNN/Opinion Research poll released today.

Two-thirds of respondents–67%–said they were either “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to vote for Palin in 2012. Not far behind her at 65% is former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, followed by 61% who said the same of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Both men vied against McCain for the party’s 2008 nomination.

    Am-Way,

Oh. You mean “liberals” like Rich Lowry from the National Review Online?

“Palin too projects through the screen like crazy. I’m sure I’m not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, “Hey, I think she just winked at me.” And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can’t be learned; it’s either something you have or you don’t, and man, she’s got it.”

    http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NDYzMGFiNjQ0MWRjNmI0ZTlkYjgwZTExMjA3MWNiZTk=

Or “liberals” like Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh, or Glen Beck?

“Karl Rove, a McCain adviser, called Palin a “young, attractive, fresh-faced reform governor.” Rush Limbaugh said the GOP had a “babe on our ticket.” Glenn Beck exclaimed, “Man, she’s hot!”

    http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/12/palin-sexism/

It’s on the way to being a good day, Am-Way, when CF2K gets to ask whether you’re stupid or a liar. Or merely to point out, as can never be pointed out often enough, that you’re full of shit.

What is the big deal that they spent $400K on her looks?

That is the cost of doing business. Companies routinely spend much, much more than that reviewing and refining packaging on consumer goods products.
Essentially, a political campaign is just a marketing campaign and the looks of the candidates are equivalent to the looks of a product.

  16. CF2K
    Posted December 8, 2008 at 2:04 pm | Permalink

    brian_nuevo,

The big deal is the hypocrisy: John Edwards gets a $400 and is crucified, while Sarah Palin spends the monies listed above and it’s dismissed as “the cost of doing business.” What’s good for the Donkey, in theory, ought to be good for the Elephant.

To say nothing of the sexist angle in spending that kind of money on a female candidate.

Controversy of Edwards’ haircut = armchair CEOs and armchair campaign advisors arguing because of party affiliations
Controversy of Palin’s wardrobe = armchair CEOs and armchair campaign advisors arguing because of party affiliations

Sure, most Republican hardlines are/were hypocrites because they were probably bitching about Edwards’ haircut cost and not about Palin, but most Democrat hardliners are/were being just as hypocricital about Palin.

But…. who really gives a damn about either? The cost of a haircut and the cost of a wardrobe are such minutiae to nit-pick over.

Ha. Democrats out raised GOP 2:1 and Capn is talking about waisting money on the GOP side? McCain was limited to public funds during the post convention campaign. Democrats gave money to Obama like tommorow depended upon it.

What did Obama do with all this money?
