Brownback exiting on his own cue

Term limits seem redundant, because that’s what voters are for. Still, credit is due to those elected officials who keep their own promises to serve a certain length of time and no more. That’s what Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., is doing in giving up his seat in 2010. He plans to formally announce today that he won’t seek a third term and be publicly thanked for keeping his two-term pledge by Philip Blumel, president of U.S. Term Limits. Brownback is expected to run in 2010 for governor, where the two-term limit comes with the job.

Let’s hope other candidates for Kansas governor step up to furnish alternatives to Brownback for governor.

I think term limits should be mandatory. Look at what Roberts has done and the voters have not held him accountable at all.

Brownback for governor would be a nightmare.

Sam Brownback would bring integrity and accountability back to the Govrnor’s mansion–something the State of Kansas has been sorely missing with Governor Sebellius-Morrison.

I hope Brownback leaves his Senate seat, loses any bid for another political office, then finds himself some wealthy congregation with an empty pulpit and lives happily ever after — AWAY from public office and public money paying for his agenda.

That way Kansas has a chance of moving forward. If we continue to elect those who think morality can be legislated we will never get anywhere.

    Dittos, Phantom.

Tiahrt ran on the “Contract with America” that pledged term limits.

    Oh well . . .

What a nightmare for Kansas. The problem is he could get elected thanks to the nut jobs around the state. At least Sen. Kathleen Sebellius, D-Kan sounds great.

“Devolution of the most insidous kind is alive and well in Kansas.”

For my money, Brownback is one of the greatest proofs against Intelligent Design.

Sam Brownhole has done nothing for Kansas except embarrass every thinking resident. He should just go ahead and resign right now. Get an early start on building that coven, uh, I mean “congregation”.
