Replace one Clinton with the other?

In the Washington Post, Karl E. Meyer and Shareen Blair Brysac made the provocative suggestion that the New York governor choose Bill Clinton to fill the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated if Hillary Clinton becomes secretary of state: “In a stroke, the appointment would provide Sen. Clinton’s indefatigable husband with a fitting day job, serve the interests of a state beset by a meltdown in its most vital economic sector and offer a refreshing reverse twist on a tradition whereby deceased male senators, representatives or governors are succeeded by their widows.”

Can this be done? If so, wouldn’t it be a first?

Do the people of NY want Bill for a senator?

    Lots of questions…

He certainly has the morals (or lack there of) to be a U.S. Senator.

    Don’t Senators have Interns? Hmmm.

Yeah. But “…the Clinton issue had nothing to do with sex.” The CONs tell us so. Until they don’t.

Andrew Johnson returned to the House of Representatives after he filled Lincoln’s unexpired term.

Seems to me Bill Clinton has the same level of morals that other infamous Senators have – on both sides of the aisle.

I’d like to make a provactive suggestion as well – why doesn’t she just wait a year and appoint Chelsea?
This is a stupid topic. A suggestion in an editorial with regards to a scenario that hasn’t even happened yet (Hillary appointed SOS).

Mr Kia – we get it, you don’t like editorials unless they are by Republicans that push the Republican idealogy.

But this editorial does bring up an interesting scenario. But I’m sure you wouldn’t like it because Bill Clinton would probably make a great Senator and he would likely keep his Senate seat for many, many years.

No need to get testy Mom. I really find it useless to give opionions or debate on speculation.

With the Republics trying to raise technical objections against Hillary Clinton becoming SoS perhaps Obama should appoint BILL Clinton to that office. That would be good for a number of reasons: Bill Clinton is respected internationally. He knows how to bring various groups together into coalitions. AND IT WOULD REALLY GET THE WACKO CONS’ UNDERWEAR INTO A WAD!

Thanks for the answers, TomPaine and Mr.C. I could have looked it up, but it’s Black Friday, and I’ve been shopping my fingers off. (online shopping & two trips out to stores today)

    Ben,

AND IT WOULD REALLY GET THE WACKO CONS’ UNDERWEAR INTO A WAD!

That underwear gets any tighter, and the wacko cons will choke to death. But now that you mention it…
