Rangel in hot water again

Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., is under scrutiny again. This time it’s about a CEO making a $1 million donation to the Charles B. Rangel School of Public Service at City College of New York after Rangel helped preserve a tax loophole. Rangel and the CEO insist that there was no quid pro quo. But Rangel met with the CEO to talk about the tax loophole on the same day they met to talk about the CEO potentially making a donation. Rangel had earlier seemed to be a strong supporter of closing the loophole.

What is it about elected “officials”? Do they not think the laws apply to them once they get elected? This is getting old…and obviously not limited to one party, just a bunch of crooks throughout.

One of these days, I can only hope that a ‘voter’s revolt” (like the California taxpayers revolt) actually happens and we can kick every one of the incumbents out!

Raptor did you know that KS legislators exempt themselves from traffic laws.

TomPaine … the legislators aren’t actually exempt from the traffic laws. They are exempt from detention while enroute to an in-session legislative function. The officer can mail a citation or deliver it later. This only applies to a civil forfeiture and does not cover traffic crimes (such as reckless driving or DUI).

Where is the outrage? Where are the hundreds of righteously indignant posts like there were about Stevens???

Stevens is a convicted felon. Rangel is under investigation and hasnt even been charged with anything.

And you republicons want some sort of moral equivalency here?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Scooter Libby was convicted, not just charged, and most of the deep red republicans here STILL defend him and blame the act=ee=vist judges? And blame the judges and the media for stevens? And need I remind you again, Rangel hasnt even been CHARGED with anything?

Moral equivalency? Heh. Not even close. But rant on. We do love watching the meltdown in progress.

how soon you forget, kfg…the long knives were out and attacking stevens the moment the investigation started. Regardless of conviction status, the attacks were relentless. The same doesn’t seem to be true with Rangel. What an amazing coincidence?

Rangel should by now after he has been accused many times known not to put himself in the appearance of
wrong doing. The court of public opinion does not operate on facts, the truth or evidence. They fall to “where there is smoke there is fire” as the only needed evidence of wrong doing. Rangel is far from a freshman and this is a freshman mistake.
