Number one problem for creationists is dinosaurs.

Tiny Juvenile Dinosaur Fossil Sheds Light On Evolution Of Plant Eaters

ScienceDaily (Oct. 24, 2008) — One of the smallest dinosaur skulls ever discovered has been identified and described by a team of scientists from London, Cambridge and Chicago. The skull would have been only 45 millimeters (less than two inches) in length. It belonged to a very young Heterodontosaurus, an early dinosaur. This juvenile weighed about 200 grams, less than two sticks of butter.

In the Fall issue of the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, the researchers describe important findings from this skull that suggest how and when the ornithischians, the family of herbivorous dinosaurs that includes Heterodontosaurus, made the transition from eating meat to eating plants.

“It’s likely that all dinosaurs evolved from carnivorous ancestors,” said study co-author Laura Porro, a post-doctoral student at the University of Chicago. “Since heterodontosaurs are among the earliest dinosaurs adapted to eating plants, they may represent a transition phase between meat-eating ancestors and more sophisticated, fully-herbivorous descendents.”

You can’t regulate climate change to make it work, but the international court thinks it can. Our lives will never be the same when we are hit with over the top regulations and controls to pay for something that we can’t change. I plan to keep on breathing.

    george,

Humans have changed Earth’s climate — and we can reduce the amount of change in the future by reducing our GHG emissions.

You should read your own link.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/climatechange/3530607/Lawyers-call-for-international-court-for-the-environment.html
“Mr Hockman, a deputy High Court judge, said that the threat of climate change means it is more important than ever for the law to protect the environment.

Mr Hockman said the court may be able to fine businesses or states but its main role will be in making “declaratory rulings” that influence and embarrass countries into upholding the law.

He said: “Of course regulations and sanctions alone cannot deliver a global solution to problems of climate change, but without such components the incentive for individual countries to address those problems – and to achieve solutions that are politically acceptable within their own jurisdictions – will be much reduced.” “

New rifts form on Antarctic ice shelf’
    http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/11/29/antarctic.ice.shelf.collapse/
“Scientists have identified new rifts on an Antarctic ice shelf that could lead to it breaking away from the Antarctic Peninsula, the European Space Agency said.

The ice shelf had been stable for most of the past century before it began retreating in the 1990s.

Several ice shelves — Prince Gustav Channel, Larsen Inlet, Larsen A, Larsen B, Wordie, Muller and Jones — have collapsed in the past three decades, the British Antarctic Survey said.

Scientists say the western Antarctic peninsula — the piece of the continent that stretches toward South America — has warmed more than any other place on Earth over the past 50 years, rising by 0.9 degrees Fahrenheit each decade.”

    The GOP’s McCarthy gene
Think Goldwater is the father of conservatism? Think again.

    By Neal Gabler
    November 30, 2008

…Republicans continue to push the idea that this is a center-right country and that Americans have swooned for GOP anti-government posturing all these years, but the real electoral bait has been anger, recrimination and scapegoating. That’s why John McCain kept describing Barack Obama as some sort of alien and why Palin, taking a page right out of the McCarthy playbook, kept pushing Obama’s relationship with onetime radical William Ayers.

And that is also why the Republican Party, despite the recent failure of McCarthyism, is likely to keep moving rightward, appeasing its more extreme elements and stoking their grievances for some time to come. There may be assorted intellectuals and ideologues in the party, maybe even a few centrists, but there is no longer an intellectual or even ideological wing. The party belongs to McCarthy and his heirs — Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly and Palin. It’s in the genes.

Europe Accuses Drug Makers of Padding Health Care Costs
On Friday, European officials published documents retrieved from those raids. They did not identify the authors, but the documents appeared to come from brand-name pharmaceutical companies.

“I suppose we have all had conversations around ‘how we can block generic manufacturers,’ ” one document stated. “Don’t play games in patenting new salt forms too late, the generics manufacturers are starting earlier and earlier,” the document stated, apparently referring to pharmaceutical ingredients.

Another document said, “We identify options to obtain or acquire patents for the sole purpose of limiting the freedom of operation of our competitors.”

U.S. Rushes to Change Workplace Toxin Rules

Political appointees at the Department of Labor are moving with unusual speed to push through in the final months of the Bush administration a rule making it tougher to regulate workers’ on-the-job exposure to chemicals and toxins.

The department’s speed in trying to make the regulatory change contrasts with its reluctance to alter workplace safety rules over the past 7 1/2 years. In that time, the department adopted only one major health rule for a chemical in the workplace, and it did so under a court order.

October 2008 ranked as the second warmest October since records began in 1880 for combined global land and ocean surface temperatures, behind 2003. Temperatures were warmer than average across Asia, Australia, Europe, and northern Canada, prompting the October 2008 global land surface anomalies to be the warmest on record. The global average ocean surface temperature (SST) in October was the sixth warmest on record.”

    http://tinyurl.com/62pkqo

    An exerpt –

“…the real father of modern Republicanism is Sen. Joe McCarthy, and the line doesn’t run from Goldwater to Reagan to George W. Bush; it runs from McCarthy to Nixon to Bush and possibly now to Sarah Palin. It centralizes what one might call the McCarthy gene, something deep in the DNA of the Republican Party that determines how Republicans run for office, and because it is genetic, it isn’t likely to be expunged any time soon.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Big Three U.S. automakers should tell Congress they will limit corporate pay, bonuses and severance packages in return for government loans, the president of the United Auto Workers union said on Sunday.

On CNN’s “Late Edition,” UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said carmakers only need a loan to tide them over a tough period and insisted high union wages were not the key cause of waning sales at General Motors Corp, Ford Motor Co and Chrysler LLC.

“They need to establish that executive compensation is something that they’re willing to curtail, as well as bonuses and ‘golden parachutes’ on exiting the business,” Gettelfinger said. “They can also give the government an equity stake in the business.”

The automakers received a rough ride from lawmakers earlier in November after flying to Washington in corporate jets asking for help. House and Senate Democratic leaders, in a letter to GM, Ford and Chrysler executives, said the companies must submit a “credible restructuring plan” by December 2.

I am so inspired and filled with optimism at the hope the future now brings.

Everynight before I go to sleep, I read this. Obama inspires me oh so much!

“I should like to help everyone if possible; Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, black men, white, red, and yellow. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each others’ happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men’s souls; has barricaded the world with hate; we live in misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Industry that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge as made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than wealth we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.

Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. Modern communications and technology have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in man; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all.

Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say “Do not despair.” The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.

Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! In the seventeenth chapter of St. Luke, it’s written “the kingdom of God is within man”, not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people, have the power, the power to create prosperity, the power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy, let us use that power.

Let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men and women a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfill their promise. They never will! Evil rulers free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfill that promise!

Let us fight to free the world! To do away with national barriers! To do away with greed, with hate and intolerance! Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness.
Citizens of the world, in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

People can you hear me? Wherever you are, look up! The clouds are lifting! The sun is breaking through! We are coming out of the darkness into the light! We are coming into a new world; a kind new world, where men and women will rise above their hate, their greed, and brutality. Look up! The soul of mankind has been given wings and at last he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow. Into the light of hope! Into the future! The glorious future! That belongs to you, to me, and to all of us. Look up, everyone! Look up!”

Republicans are fighting back. Even though the income has gone “underground” with evil employers paying illegals in cash – the STATE SALES TAX IS EXPLODING!!! As illegals have more income to spend, they are buying more.

Always a silver lining to doing the right thing.

Funny thing was – I had family from Reno, NV there. They flew home to buy guns in NV – before the new Prez is annoited.

What’s funny? That entire part of the family voted for Obama!!

” . .and did you ask them why? Hmmmm???”

Why would I do that? They are libs on koolaid.

But they are sure buying semi-automatic guns before their savior bans them.

What’s that tell you about liberals? Says much more than asking them why they voted for The God Obama.

Say AW, heard a news story on the radio saying that Guns & Ammo shortages right now are normal – during the hunting season this always happens.

Must be a helluva lot of hunters using AR’s and Pistols!

And I notice no shortage in shotgun shells, slugs, or 30-06.

Hollow-points, 9mm, 40, 44, 45 are hard to find now, and twice the price when you can find them!
And for some reason, .223’s (or 5.56)are in short supply. Must be a whole new group of deer hunters using these calibers.

Tell us WHO the U.S. government took the computer, Internet, Mosaic web browser, etc, FROM?

Ah yes, cosmos, isn’t deliciously ironic? Nearly every link in the technology chain–from the computer, the browser, the socket interfaces, the the ethernet standard, communication protocols, to the Internet itself–was due to overnment research, or funded by government dollars.

It reminds me of someone railing against the evils of newspapers on the editorial page of one.

We were a little early for the good oranges. Navel’s were all that were in season. The AZ sweets are about a month behind.

It was a nice visit in the warm sun and time spent solving the worlds problems with some good conservatives poolside, drinks in hand. Far outweighed the blacksheep of the family on the government tit from Nevada.

Gotta run. Have to put some burn pain lotion on before going to bed. Gotta make lots of money at work tomorrow for Obama Christ.

Ok you all have freaking lost your mind. No I’m not an eeevil boss. I have expectations that I have always had. I have no issues with employee protections. They deserve them because too many were taken advantage of.

They’re the same ones that protect you from getting canned when you earn too much and they can replace you with someone cheaper.

However, I won’t have people who are downright bad employees. That’s bad for the company, bad for the clients, and bad for morale of the company.

I also know that a company has to be profitable in order to work. Now where that line is on profitability vs quality, that’s where I’m coming in, right? That’s my job. Trying to keep everyone happy and move the company forward. Not as easy as it may seem, and there are a lot of growing pains.

For the most part I have really good employees. I like my job.

“The $700 Billion bailout is free printed money. Sure it increases the National Debt, but nobody will be paying that back – ever.”—JimJohnson,

Surely you jest! We, or our grandkids, will surely pay it all back, whether in taxes, or due to the devaluation of money due to inflation from the printing of the money.
Again I say, surely you jest…no one can be that stupid, unless they are a DimLib or simply ignorant.

I have read that the ENIAC computers took up a high gym sized space. But recently the memory of that large computer could be put on a chip the size of a single piece of confetti. We’ve come a long way.

    Rage,

You need to read Rapture for the Geeks: When AI Outsmarts IQ. The historical trivia on computers alone make it worth the effort.

Have you ever worked with the Python language? I had used Liberty Basic to program an “effect size” calculator (Hedges’s G was what I was interested in). I was able to come up with a suitable program without too much code, but I think Python may be a better language for me. NASA uses it too, so it can’t be all bad + it’s open source and free. Python 3.0 is coming out in December and a book will also be published in late December on this version.

Have you ever worked with the Python language?

Not really–I’ve played around a little bit, but done nothing serious. Kinda like the “try Ruby in your browser!” experiments. Kid stuff.

ou need to read Rapture for the Geeks: When AI Outsmarts IQ. The historical trivia on computers alone make it worth the effort.

As I also have an active interest in AI (which, at this point, hasn’t even achieved “AS”), that sounds interesting. Regarding ENIAC, I highly recommend this short, fascinating book:

ENIAC: The Triumphs and Tragedies of the World’s First Computer (Hardcover)
    by Scott McCartney

    http://www.amazon.com/ENIAC-Triumphs-Tragedies-Worlds-Computer/dp/0802713483

True to its title, it is both inspiring and depressing. Few people could name the two quirky geniuses who invented the first modern computer (John Mauchy and J. Presper Eckert).
