Linda,
I certainly have no objection to Imelda Palin keeping the clothes- after all the RNC offered her new clothes without bothering to check out the strength of her shopping gene and without setting limits. They shoulda known better (on a lot of things).

The Empress' Clothes

Let her keep them, for crying out loud.

Word is that a GOP attorney has been dispatched to Alaska to collect Sarah Palin's campaign wardrobe. Thanks, guys. First you use the woman to energize your lackluster campaign, hoping her sex appeal -- enhanced by the wardrobe you had her buy and wear -- would win you votes. Now that you've lost your gamble, you take it all back.

Don't you think you owe her at least the shirt on her back?

Ever since Palin was selected as McCain's running mate, charges of sexism have been spun as suited one's purposes. Any criticism of Palin, which nearly everyone now understands to have been legitimate, was considered "sexist." Or, if you were a woman, "catty." I can't count the number of emails -- thousands, anyway -- that accused me of being jealous of Palin. It's true, I've long coveted a wolf's paw to mount in my moose lodge, but otherwise . . . (That's a joke, PETA fans. Anything with a heartbeat gets a meal at my house. Canine longevity is my speciality, as my 18-year-old Beezie will attest.)

Seriously, the only sexist charge that stands in this context is the one that says women can't question the qualifications of a vice-presidential candidate, who happens to be female, without being accused of some other, jungle-inspired, motive. Men do not suffer such restrictions.

The true act and attitude of sexism in this election was the selection of Palin in the first place. She wasn't qualified and was selected ONLY because she was an attractive female. We can wager safely that an equally unqualified, less-attractive female would not have made the cut. The boys blew it. Big Time. They owe Palin those clothes and a sincere apology for using her the way selfish men have always used women.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/55487.html

Gov. Sarah Palin, the day after coming back to Alaska from her two-month run for vice president, was sorting through which clothes to send back while under attack from anonymous John McCain staffers in a frenzy of finger-pointing.

"It's a circling firing squad," said Meg Stapleton, who is under contract as the governor's campaign spokesman for the next week.

The anonymously sourced salvos are being launched in media including Newsweek, Fox News and The New York Times. The claims include that Palin didn't know Africa is a continent, went on shopping sprees on the Republican Party's dime, and threw tantrums that left staff in tears. Palin supporters said it's just people trying to scapegoat the governor for the unsuccessful presidential campaign

"Phantom" --

Shortly after Shopper-Gate broke out and the Moose-Dresser said it would all be donated to charity, the Salvation Army Thrift Store of Anchorage called dibs.

Let her turn them down!

The Salvation Army -- and every Salvation Army member I've ever known has been smart and dedicated and loving and Christ-like -- said they'd probably not put the clothes in the Thrift Shop but use them in a Fashion Show Fund-Raising Event to support their many missions.

If the Salvation Army of Anchorage doesn't get the Palin family's television wardrobe, she's got some 'splainin' to do.

I look for Franklin to post the entire trade agreement as exhibit 1.

"All the SNL writers had to do was to get a transcript of Palin’s interviews and the rest was SNL’s goldmine of ratings."

Maybe the GOP should deamnd royalties.

Considering the unfair and cruel way she was treated, Sarah’s 15 minutes couldn’t have been much fun. But, it’s over. So why dwell on it.

She is clearly not the future of the Republican party
--

Unfair and cruel? Sarah Palin, herself, told everyone that her life is an open book - so when the media did open the book and started reporting the details - Palin did not like it and thought it violated her First Amendment - yeah right.

Tina Fey put it quite simply last night, every skit Tina Fey did about Palin were with words that came 'directly from Palin's mouth'. All the SNL writers had to do was to get a transcript of Palin's interviews and the rest was SNL's goldmine of ratings.

If the Republican Party wants any chance of getting back into the game (let alone win the next time), then Palin had better NOT be the future of the party.

Personally, I look for Palin to be given a radio talk or television show and become the female Rush Limbaugh. Then we'll see the real Sarah Palin in action.
