First post!
Hey XXX
Wow right outta the box, McCain’s Pennsylvania offensive fails.
Hooray! I just heard Elizabeth Dole has LOST her Senate seat!
I’m not dancing on graves yet.
But I’m tuning up my fiddle.
David Brooks has an sobering and insightful look at what this election means, both historically and practically.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/04/opinion/04brooks.html?ex=1383541200&en=b0c49c3a36b36cd4&ei=5124&partner=facebook&exprod=facebook
Good to see a Dole go down (again).
Just saw with 1% reporting Roberts leading 2to1, hope that changes, but don’t expect Slattery to win.
Sobering, yes. Insightful, once again, hell no, David?
What have you been drinking tonight?
Things are looking promising in Florida, but too soon to call. Missouri isn’t looking good for Obama. They’ve been right all but once in the last 100 years.
JR, Pennsylvania slapped McCain, but good!
Pennsylvania was expected. I want to know about non-Kerry states.
I think the big story tomorrow is going to be this election is proving to be a Democratic landslide.
This is partially because of Barack Obama’s charismatic personality. It is also partially because of the sheer dislike of President George Bush across America and the world because of his frankly destructive foreign policy during his entire two terms.
Big question is what’s the future of Sarah Palin?
Only time will tell how these election outcomes at all levels will serve America and Americans.
Fox just projected Ohio for Obama. McCain is toast.
New Mexico for Obama according to Fox.
We’re up to like 54 Dems in the Senate already.
And Kansans continue to be rather pedantic and hard headed. Kansas will suffer for that in the new Congress.
FOX is calling Ohio for Obama.
It won’t be long now. McCain won’t have to stay up late.
It SUCKS to live in Kansas.
MSNBC called Kansas for McCain less than 1 minute after the polls closed.
MSNBC calls Louisiana for Obama.
It’s over.
Oops I heard that one wrong.
Louisiana goes to McCain.
But that doesn’t help him let alone save him.
Hmm FOX seems to be calling states quickest.
CNN still has not called Ohio.
It’s sucks to have people like you in kansas
OMFG — 66% in Pennsylvania? Per CNN.
I’m in no rush (figuratively speaking).
Hey moron, it does Kansas no good to be taken for granted. See how much Kansas gets out of the next 2 years. It may as well not even exist.
Hey, Jay, want to move to Arizona? We have six-month summers here, but it’ll keep that “FORD1st” one-time poster happy!
Don’t call me your family name move if you don’t like it here , you won’t be missed
McCain is hanging by a thread.
Florida, Viginia, North Carolina will be called soon. If ANY of them goes Obama, it’s mathematically over.
P.S. Hey, Ford1st, I voted for Obama. If McCain loses his home state, you claim blame it on me!
claim blame? Guess I got insurance on the mind. . .
who you voted for is your choice, better sell your guns before he gets in office or he will take them from you.
“claim blame”
Ah, friggin’ health insurance on the mind. . .
Right. The Democrat will take your guns away.
What planet do you as*shole live on?
“Ford” do you know what kind of an idiot you sound like when you post something like that?
Do you not (of course, you don’t!) even comprehend the recent Heller victory?
Of course not!
You have even less ground to stand on now.
The very same one you do. only i am not blind you don’t know as much as you think you do about your party
Rage I have NO doubt that all over this country tonight, people will be burying guns in the damn woods over this nonsense.
like you
Actually, it makes sense. Eight years of a president who ignores, evades, defies, and spits upon Supreme Court decisions. Why should these people expect any different?
This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!
Right, Jay.
It’s weird. They abstractly fear a heavily-armed government (which they, strangely, enthusiastically empower), yet embrace obvious abuses of power that lead to tyranny.
You want to fight off the guvmint with yer shotgun, or even yer illegal Uzi? Good f*uckin luck.
How about not empowering a despotic government in the first place?
Good luck in the Democrat Party controlled Government.
Maybe you can do more with the Senate and the Presidency than you have with the House.
Any of you don’t like the way Kansas went, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
“Eight years of a president who ignores, evades, defies, and spits upon Supreme Court decisions. ”
True dat Rage. For 8 years the cons stood by and CHEERED the unitary executive. NOW they will spend every waking hour wetting their pants over it and sleep will bring them MOST unpleasantly fevered dreams.
And it is SO moronic, the guns thing. Their are tools and technology that make an ARSENAL almost irrelevant.
After Ks. is ignored for the next 4 yrs. in congress, maybe Kansans will vote with the dem majority of the country in 2012!
How is the presidential endorsement going for the Eagle??
Heh, CNN just reported Kansas.
52% McCain
46% Obama
Chew on “that one” a moment.
Oh, I’m almost sad, John is so screwed!
FOX has been leading the calls all evening.
Will it be FOX that calls the Presidential contest for Obama?
KIA — I remember ‘93.
That’s all I’m going to say at present.
When is linda and the election party going to check in?
I was supposed to be there but got home late. They must be having too much fun to post.
Kansas faces deficit in current budget

TOPEKA, Kansas, November 4, 2008 (AP) – A new financial forecast says the state will end its current fiscal year with a $137 million budget deficit.
And if the state’s budget problems aren’t addressed, the gap between anticipated revenues and spending commitments already made could grow to nearly $1 billion during the state’s 2010 fiscal year.
State officials and economists met Tuesday to draft the new forecast. It is far more pessimistic than the legislators and the governors had been following.
The forecasters slashed $211 million from the projection for revenues during the current fiscal year. They then predicted that revenues would remain flat during fiscal 2010.

Better have voted no on the school bond issue!
Cessna to cut jobs amid financial crisis

WICHITA, Kansas, November 4, 2008 (AP) – Cessna Aircraft Co. says it will cut its workforce levels amid the global financial crisis.
Cessna spokesman Robert Stangarone says the company does not yet know the timing and scope of the job reductions.
Employees were notified Tuesday of the pending cutbacks in an e-mail. The news comes just a day after workers at Hawker Beechcraft received letters telling them the company planned to cut nearly 500 jobs there.
Stangarone says Cessna is adjusting production schedules due to fewer deliveries than expected next year. The company had previously targeted 535 Citation aircraft for delivery in 2009, compared to 475 this year.
The company is not releasing the latest estimate.
http://www.ksn.com/news/local/33849899.html
Gee, Obama, see what you are causing now?
Murtha re elected.
Sorry cons.
And MSNBC also reports Christopher Shays has lost.
There are now NO Republican representatives in New England.
Hawker to cut nearly 500 jobs

WICHITA, Kansas, November 3, 2008 – The slowing economy is affecting the aircraft industry. A company spokesperson tells KSN that Hawker is cutting its workforce by five percent.
In a letter sent to employees, Hawker Beechcraft chairman and Chief Executive Jim Schuster said, “While these reductions are painful, they are absolutely necessary.”
There is no word yet if the five percent, which comes out to 490 jobs, will be cut from the Wichita facility or elsewhere throughout the company.
http://www.ksn.com/news/local/33788384.html
Hey Obama, please quit while you are ahead. I guess you will not be able to spend all that money you wanted to.
“Hawker to cut nearly 500 jobs”
Explained on the thread dedicated to it by me who used to work there.
Short story? No story.
Boeing 787 Dreamliner delayed due to union strike
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27540726/
Now that strike was really effective, wasn’t it?
Hey BlueBird,
Move to some other state, will you, since you hate it in Kansas!
Roberts is talking about the young people who worked for him.
SHEEESH if you are young, how do VOTE for Roberts let alone work for that old fossil.
Kansas the place that is farthest from the bright center of the universe.
Hey BlueBird,
Why did you used to work there at HBC?
Quit?
Layed off?
Fired?
Quit. And I’ll quit Kansas too when my familial obligations are taken care of.
Why did you quit BlueBird?
Al Franken is leading in Minnesota!
IF he wins? Bill O’Reilly will spontaneously combust!
Roberts was able to outspend Jim Slattery by 3 or 4 to 1. Roberts is bought and paid for. I hope he can deliver for them now that so many of his buddies are fired.
Some dinosaurs outlasted others by millions of years.
Dreamliner delayed? Too bad management was willing to hurt the production by not dealing fairly with their # 1 SUPPLIER: their supplier of skilled labor, the Unions.
Stay tuned for layoffs at Boeing!
Like I say. it’s the perfect Republican plan. Bankrupt the country and hand it over to the Democrats…
Anybody who thinks Al Franken is a viable candidate for Senator is not living in reality!
FOX projects Virginia for Obama.
I wonder when McCain first sensed that something was wrong.
Oh my God. I still give Campbell Brown kudos for trying to do real journalism.
But John King (Mr. Vapid) knew that Bill Clinton had a Dem majority Congress, and she didn’t.
She’s 40 years old. A journalist. That’s disturbing.
Already Amerikan is blaming Senator Obama for the wreckage of his Bushies dirty work… prepare for years of this crap from the stuffed suits on radio and tv
Gee let’s see.
Sub-prime loans jambed down the banks’ throat by the government, and forced to give loans to those who don’t qualify, which is the main cause of the financial crises, and pushed heavily by the D’s, IS the cause of what is happening.
And then……… the unions just cap it all off by striking and put everybody in a tail spin because of their selfishness.
Do you agree that aircraft workers make more in Wichita than anywhere in Kansas and is the economic engine for this entire area?
I’d take one Al Franken over ten Sarah Palins any day. Some people believe intelligence, thoughfulness and knowledge is a good thing in a lawmaker.
Jingoism only goes so far. Then the lipstick rubs off.
American I fear you are talking to the choir and BJ who thinks unions walk on water. Well I hope I am wrong about the next four years. I would love for BJ to be able to say ‘I told your so’. Somehow I don’t see how that will happen. I lived through the Carter years and fear we will see a repeat if Obama has his way.
Who do you think was a big proponent of the sub-prime loans?
Answer……………Barry Soretero AKA Barack Hussein Obama!
Were you aware that 10-20% of the earnings of the first bailout bill (700 B) were to go to associations like ACORN?
“forced to give loans……” Jingoism only goes so far. Then the lipstick rubs off.
FOX calls Virgina for Obama.
All it takes now is Florida or Indiana and John McCain can concede and go to sleep.
The fun to come is to watch the Republican Party fight-fighting internally – ‘cleaning house”, to find a way to seem relevant to the needs of the American people.
It’ll be a bloodbath. I wonder if local Republicans will kick out the wife-beating extremists who highjacked the grand old party machine here so many years ago.
CNN confirms Virginia.
BlueJay sings….
Tonight’s the night we make history
Yes forced to give loans!
Banks were required to give a percentage of loans in certain demographically red-lined areas and the applicant’s qualifications were OFTEN not considered as or minimized as was required by the CRA
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Reinvestment_Act
And MSNBC also reports Christopher Shays has lost.
Unfortunate. It would be nice to see some moderate Republicans left.
ABC just called Obama as president.
Congratulations, America.
Senator Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States.
CNN, FOX, MSNBC confirm.
NBC confirms.
American, cry us a river.
CNN just called it for Obama. The next president will be a Democrat.
Cspan
“News organizations declare Obama President elect.
“applicant’s qualifications were OFTEN not considered” !!! the law required sound banking practices… put the koolaide away… You can’t FORCE a banker to make a bad loan… jesus christ!
Good night, all.
Congratulations again, and tomorrow the whole world will rejoice with us,.
Were you aware that 10-20% of the earnings of the first bailout bill (700 B) were to go to associations like ACORN?
Care to prove that claim that Bush wanted 10-20% to go to ACORN?
Obama won the election without the help of the boring, conservative, red state of Kansas!
Great news!
Sign seen on NBC
“Obama/Biden
Thanks Hillary!”
You better believe it.
Tiahrt wins and Kansas will continue to be irrelevant.
Good Night all,
I still love America and will respect the next President of the USA.
I hope and pray that we can resolve some of the issues in this city, stae and country.
May God give Obama wisdom, understanding and knowledge that only He can give.
This goes for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the Republican minority also!
McCain just called Obama to congratulate him on his victory.
CNN says that McCain already called Obama and conceded.
Florida went to Obama!
Whoo Hoo! I’ve held my breath (most of the day) and this is an amazing moment!
Ah, it is soooo good!
We missed you BlueJay.
Well, it’s over. I guardedly expected what happened.
What I didn’t expect is this: the significance of it hit me. A black man was just elected president of the United States.
It’s an emotional moment for me. I really didn’t expect to see this so soon. And I’m very glad to be proven wrong.
The 8 year nightmare is over! Now maybe we can have some humanity in government.
I was sorry not to be there Linda. I got home late and had to feed the kid.
McCain is conceding now.
Free at last! Free at last! Thank God We’re Free at last! (Even though Kansans prefer the yoke of republican oppression)
A decisive victory! One that is too great to be contested. It was my greatest hope.
OK, the work begins and we are up to it!
The cons will NOT suffer this willingly.
Let Freedom ring!
Let the white dove sing!
Let the whole world know that today is a day of reckoning.
Now the weak are strong. And the right’s still wrong.
Roll the stone away
Make the guilty pay
It’s independence day!
Notice that Arizona is still too close to call.
Who did ya have there linda?
I’ll email.
It’s not over.
There are still Senate and Representative races.
McCain is being most gracious. His supporters somewhat less so.
I guess there wasn’t any voter fraud this year either.
I can only hope this is another, we have to suffer through 4 years of jimma carter to get a TRUE conservative, I just hate to think what it will cost us.
Also it will be nice in a year or so that I can get a bumper sticker that says;
DON’T BLAME ME, I DIDN’T HAVE ANY WHITE LIBERAL GUILT.
I had text messages from my son in Boston, my grandsons in Washington and Oregon. We’re all happy campers!
Arizona went for McCain. That would have been icing on the cake. Oh well, it was really close there.
The Wichita school bond issue has passed.
Good.
Ick. Peterjohn won.
Well at least I don’t live out there.
Alright, this is pretty cool, we have a black president. It’s kind of a novelty. Hell, Britain has never had a black prime minister. If it makes any of the Republicans in here feel any better. Bush was at the wheel for eight years, and did some unpopular dirty work, which will set Obama up nicely to take a lot of credit for the economic boom we’ll see here in the next year or two. Remember, there’s always an economic boom after a war, ebbs and flows, ebbs and flows, not the end of the world, it’s just cycles, and by the time Obama is done, we’ll all look at his mistakes, and decide to correct the damage he’s done, really the Presidency is a Figure Head job that takes a lot of flak, and a Thankless job at that.
DON’T BLAME ME, I DIDN’T HAVE ANY WHITE LIBERAL GUILT.
Guilt? Hardly, as*shole. Those of us who in Obama’s generation and younger just wanted to throw off that old baggage.
Amazing, they let the old honorable McCain out and destroyed his evil clone!
The youth DID turn out! Of course this election could have been won without them. But they did their part! And since they are now participants, voters — maybe it will become a habit!
. . .and also sad, David.
It is sad.
I don’t think John McCain is a bad man.
I was so disappointed in him when the slime of his party dragged him through the mud and he went right back to being a good soldier.
History will have time to dissect. Just how hard WAS McCain pushed toward Palin? SHE is what sank him.
Know what I would like to see?
An angry throng of thousands yelling at the Naval Observatory for Dick Cheney to get out of Joe Biden’s house.
I’m proud that we did elect a black person. If only he had chosen Hillary, we could all be so happy.
I want no angry crowds of any kind. Haven’t we had enough of those in Iraq? Americans are ready for peace. Ready for the intelligence it takes to be diplomatic.
Let’s hope the neo-cons died a slow death tonight.
OUR FIRST FAMILY!
I am so proud!
Senator Clinton is going to do just fine political mama.
There is the Senate leadership or a Supreme court position in her future.
More than anyone or anything else, Senator Clinton and her supporters are responsible for this victory. And we will make sure that is not lost on the President elect and his supporters. No one gets left behind.
The nation’s next first lady — that one got me!
A puppy! ohhhh… I’m a sucker for puppies.
The guy is good.
he is good, let’s help him. America can be great again.
“The guy is good.”
I do hope so.
I hope in his eagerness to reach out to enemies, he does not forget his friends.
As much as I am enjoying this speech?
I want to know what is going on in the Senate races.
I want to know how California votes on proposition 8.
I want to hear from my friend farngrrl
Well now his supporters must answer his call vs. having their hands out.
Yeah, I want to hear from farmgrrl too…
a lot
Children in the White House. I’m going to enjoy this so much!
My daughter was even crying. Its just such an inspirational moment.
He’s going to be a fabulous president.
From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs!
I’m so inspired I could cry!
Going to be hard to live up to his call to put the immaturity behind us that has separated us for the last 8 yrs. But, the adults are once again in charge and we can even accomplish that.
I enjoyed the scene of the crowds amassed at the White House gates (bush we want our country back!)
And the throngs at his speech in Chicago as well as across the oceans.
America will reclaim her glory and righteousness.
Mr. Kia,
You are stupid. It’s the worst word I could ever call anyone.
Americans are up to the challenge! YES, we can!
We are into a strange and new land.
The President of the United States is only a few years older than me.
His vision and optimism will not be constrained by political division. He will have the wind at his back in the House and the Senate.
Some Rwe or skinhead may get to him before he gets too much done. Going to need alot of S.S. and prayers.
We are definitely up to the challenge!
We are Americans!
Here’s to Republicans acting as unifying as you all have the last eight years!
Cheers!!
AND! The two or possibly three Supreme Court Justices… Ah, it was a good election!
We are definitely up to the challenge!
We are Americans!
That’s the idea. Contrary to Kia’s stupidity, it’s about working together for the good of all.
Whether that will happen, eh, I dunno. But how many people would have predicted this moment?
Dining on ashes Kia?
Quite right so you should.
I think the disconnect comes from the placement of optimism.
Cons see optimism as what one can do for oneself .
Progressives work at what WE can do together.
I never thought I’d live to see the day Americans voted to elect a minority for President, but I am sooo proud right now. I was especially proud and overjoyed to see so many fresh, eager YOUNG faces out there. It soothes my cynical, bitter old heart to see how the youth have come out in force for this election, not to mention the absolutely jaw-dropping voter turnout overall.
Maybe we can finally steer this trainwreck of a country back out of the ditch and get things pointed in the right direction.
YES WE CAN!
YES WE CAN!!!
I DON’T hate to rain on the parade.
I want to caution to beware of this. Obama in the last hours is sucking up all the notice and attention.
That is not healthy. Not for him and not for us.
There are still Senate and House races. One man cannot summon the future.
BlueJay,
I see humility in Obama, humility that I haven’t seen for some time. He knows he didn’t do this alone. He knows he can’t make things better alone.
I’m old enough to remember segregation. I’m old enough to have seen the beginning of integration, and now the election of Barack Obama. To steal from another era, We’ve (all) come a long way, baby!”
Barack Obama is not Jimmy Carter. Obama will surround himself with the best cabinet and advisors…from both parties. He’s not out to divide the country. He’s out to bring us all together, no matter what party, race, sex, or orientation. I know that’s hard for some Republicans to understand, but they might want to give it a try.
“you don’t know as much as you think you do about your party” (pertaining to guns)
I think it’s you who doesn’t know as much about your party as you think you do. Ashcroft (or was it Rumsfeld?) has had the list of gun owners in the country for several years. If a fight comes between the people and the government, it won’t be the Democrats you’ll be pointing your guns at.
Watch out, Republicans. Kansas might just turn blue before too long.
The far right has taken over the Courts in Sedgwick County. This will not be good.

—————————————————-
I actually did two years ago plus a couple months.
I said if Oprah threw her weight (no pun intended) behind Obama, he’d be President.
