Things are looking promising in Florida, but too soon to call. Missouri isn’t looking good for Obama. They’ve been right all but once in the last 100 years.

JR, Pennsylvania slapped McCain, but good!

I think the big story tomorrow is going to be this election is proving to be a Democratic landslide.

This is partially because of Barack Obama’s charismatic personality. It is also partially because of the sheer dislike of President George Bush across America and the world because of his frankly destructive foreign policy during his entire two terms.

Big question is what’s the future of Sarah Palin?

Only time will tell how these election outcomes at all levels will serve America and Americans.

Kansas faces deficit in current budget

    By Jessica Oakley

Story Created: Nov 4, 2008 at 6:24 PM CST

Story Updated: Nov 4, 2008 at 6:24 PM CST

TOPEKA, Kansas, November 4, 2008 (AP) – A new financial forecast says the state will end its current fiscal year with a $137 million budget deficit.

And if the state’s budget problems aren’t addressed, the gap between anticipated revenues and spending commitments already made could grow to nearly $1 billion during the state’s 2010 fiscal year.

State officials and economists met Tuesday to draft the new forecast. It is far more pessimistic than the legislators and the governors had been following.

The forecasters slashed $211 million from the projection for revenues during the current fiscal year. They then predicted that revenues would remain flat during fiscal 2010.

Cessna to cut jobs amid financial crisis

Story Updated: Nov 4, 2008 at 4:51 PM CST

WICHITA, Kansas, November 4, 2008 (AP) – Cessna Aircraft Co. says it will cut its workforce levels amid the global financial crisis.

Cessna spokesman Robert Stangarone says the company does not yet know the timing and scope of the job reductions.

Employees were notified Tuesday of the pending cutbacks in an e-mail. The news comes just a day after workers at Hawker Beechcraft received letters telling them the company planned to cut nearly 500 jobs there.

Stangarone says Cessna is adjusting production schedules due to fewer deliveries than expected next year. The company had previously targeted 535 Citation aircraft for delivery in 2009, compared to 475 this year.

The company is not releasing the latest estimate.

Story Updated: Nov 3, 2008 at 4:45 PM CST

WICHITA, Kansas, November 3, 2008 – The slowing economy is affecting the aircraft industry. A company spokesperson tells KSN that Hawker is cutting its workforce by five percent.

In a letter sent to employees, Hawker Beechcraft chairman and Chief Executive Jim Schuster said, “While these reductions are painful, they are absolutely necessary.”

There is no word yet if the five percent, which comes out to 490 jobs, will be cut from the Wichita facility or elsewhere throughout the company.

    Gee let’s see.

Sub-prime loans jambed down the banks’ throat by the government, and forced to give loans to those who don’t qualify, which is the main cause of the financial crises, and pushed heavily by the D’s, IS the cause of what is happening.

And then……… the unions just cap it all off by striking and put everybody in a tail spin because of their selfishness.

Alright, this is pretty cool, we have a black president. It’s kind of a novelty. Hell, Britain has never had a black prime minister. If it makes any of the Republicans in here feel any better. Bush was at the wheel for eight years, and did some unpopular dirty work, which will set Obama up nicely to take a lot of credit for the economic boom we’ll see here in the next year or two. Remember, there’s always an economic boom after a war, ebbs and flows, ebbs and flows, not the end of the world, it’s just cycles, and by the time Obama is done, we’ll all look at his mistakes, and decide to correct the damage he’s done, really the Presidency is a Figure Head job that takes a lot of flak, and a Thankless job at that.

DON’T BLAME ME, I DIDN’T HAVE ANY WHITE LIBERAL GUILT.

Guilt? Hardly, as*shole. Those of us who in Obama’s generation and younger just wanted to throw off that old baggage.

    It is sad.

I don’t think John McCain is a bad man.

I was so disappointed in him when the slime of his party dragged him through the mud and he went right back to being a good soldier.

History will have time to dissect. Just how hard WAS McCain pushed toward Palin? SHE is what sank him.

There is the Senate leadership or a Supreme court position in her future.

More than anyone or anything else, Senator Clinton and her supporters are responsible for this victory. And we will make sure that is not lost on the President elect and his supporters. No one gets left behind.

Going to be hard to live up to his call to put the immaturity behind us that has separated us for the last 8 yrs. But, the adults are once again in charge and we can even accomplish that.
I enjoyed the scene of the crowds amassed at the White House gates (bush we want our country back!)
And the throngs at his speech in Chicago as well as across the oceans.

I think the disconnect comes from the placement of optimism.

Cons see optimism as what one can do for oneself .

Progressives work at what WE can do together.

I never thought I’d live to see the day Americans voted to elect a minority for President, but I am sooo proud right now. I was especially proud and overjoyed to see so many fresh, eager YOUNG faces out there. It soothes my cynical, bitter old heart to see how the youth have come out in force for this election, not to mention the absolutely jaw-dropping voter turnout overall.

Maybe we can finally steer this trainwreck of a country back out of the ditch and get things pointed in the right direction.

    BlueJay,

I see humility in Obama, humility that I haven’t seen for some time. He knows he didn’t do this alone. He knows he can’t make things better alone.

I’m old enough to remember segregation. I’m old enough to have seen the beginning of integration, and now the election of Barack Obama. To steal from another era, We’ve (all) come a long way, baby!”

Barack Obama is not Jimmy Carter. Obama will surround himself with the best cabinet and advisors…from both parties. He’s not out to divide the country. He’s out to bring us all together, no matter what party, race, sex, or orientation. I know that’s hard for some Republicans to understand, but they might want to give it a try.

“you don’t know as much as you think you do about your party” (pertaining to guns)

I think it’s you who doesn’t know as much about your party as you think you do. Ashcroft (or was it Rumsfeld?) has had the list of gun owners in the country for several years. If a fight comes between the people and the government, it won’t be the Democrats you’ll be pointing your guns at.
