Slattery ads edgy or in poor taste?

Jim Slattery’s new “Hosed” campaign advertisement leads you to think that little Kansans are being urinated on by a giant Wall Street executive. The ad shows a yellowish fluid splashing them from above while the giant executive looks down and smiles. It isn’t until a few seconds later that you see the executive holding a gasoline hose. Slattery created a stir with an earlier campaign advertisement that showed uninsured people wearing half-closed hospital gowns (with the revealing parts digitally blurred). Slattery said the ads are aimed at cutting through the clutter. But his opponent, Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., responded: “There’s a difference between edgy and poor taste, and I think these are in poor taste.”

To those rich execs we are all just a bunch of peons. Or is that pee ons? I think Senator Roberts policies over the years that resulted in the problems of deregulation, an illegal war, support for torture, tax cuts for the wealthy, etc. are in worse taste.

    Yeah.

Like I turn to Pat Roberts to dictate “taste.”

Roberts has millions to run pablum. Slattery cuts through the clutter of commercials to make his points.

    Eh.

Roberts supported our government illegally spying on Americans. The NSA admits that they listened into thousands of phone calls without a warrant.

That’s just one of the many ways Roberts pissed on us.

I love it, I think its quite an effective and accurate comparison. And pretty cute. Conservatives have no sense of humor.

Well what do you expect? He’s a Democrat and he’s got all that “move along.org” and George Soros money. Like most Democrats, he has nothing to offer but lies and promises he can’t keep.

In Senator Roberts’ world, I guess “edgy” is when the Co-Chair of a Republican Presidential campaign refers to the African-American candidate of the Democratic party as “a man of the streets.”

In Repuke world, racism = OK, scatology = bad.

As for Slattery’s ad, haven’t seen it, but it sounds funny as hell. No surprise that ‘ol Pat doesn’t have much of a sense of humor.

What a stretch CF2K. I suppose if McCain mentioned bananas on the same day he was to meet Obama, that would be racist as well.

I would say bad taste. However, in view of what the Repukes are doing – they deserve it.

Unfortunately Phantom, both Roberts and Tankerless Todd will get re-elected.

    Other predictions:

    259 bond will lose.
    Peterjohn will win
    Gabel will lose
McCain will carry KS – but lose big nationally
Democrats will gain in Congress but not quite filibuster-proof in Senate
The national mood just might save Boyda’s seat – that will be close.

George W. Bush reminds me of the boy that cried wolf one too many times and nobody believes him anymore.

Is this what Bush meant by restoring honesty and ingtegrity to the White House?

And, bth and mom, having the President make yet another statement on the economy surely doesn’t sit well with the McCain-Palin campaign’s desires to have the issue of the economy off the front page.

  29. Posted October 10, 2008 at 4:07 pm | Permalink

vt – even if it gets off the front page it will be in people’s mailboxes – with their 201k statements. And that will likely hit especially hard among older men.

Every mortgage company that trades its shares on Wall Street gave more financial contributions to Democrats than to Republicans.
Wall Street and the mortgage industry are piggy banks for the Democrat Party.

Nearly every mortgage industry CEO who has been in the news, lately, is a DEMOCRAT!

That’s what I’m thinking they get their 401k statements, and if they don’t flat out have heart attacks or suicide themselves, they might not still be able to bring themselves to vote against the R brand, but they very well may cop out by staying home and not voting.

Obviously P-Momma, you have not gone and seen “An American Carol”. Too bad. Thats gooooood movie making. Kelsey Grammar should win an academy award for his portrayal of General George S. Patton. He does a better Patton than George C. Scott.

I would be just fine without Rush, who by the way does not tell me or anybody else for that matter, what to say. You on the other hand would be totally lost and befuddled without your daily talking points from dailykos, D.U., Thomas Friedman, Ellen Goodman and the all the other gas bags who feed the Borg Collective.

Couldn’t believe that with Europe, Asia, and most of the world facing a global financial meltdown, and all the financial experts stating that ‘time is of the essence’ on dealing with the frozen credit and lack of confidence and concrete action, Sen. Roberts is actually boasting about trying to block the Economic Rescue effort.
Wake up Slattery, you should be all over him for his lack of leadership and for putting his re-election above country!
You’d only alienate those RW’ers who aren’t going to vote for you anyway but liberals and moderates would appreciate Roberts being taken to task.
