Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is testing Kansans’ patience with her frequent campaign trips for Barack Obama. Or at least that was one interpretation of the one-month drop of 7 percentage points in her approval rating among those Kansans surveyed by Rasmussen Reports. As we argued in our Monday editorial, it’s natural for Kansans to feel slighted by her travel, which has been via planes paid for by the Obama campaign. Another concern is “Sebelius’ newly unabashed partisanship, which clashes with the best of her six-year record as a Democratic governor of a heavily Republican state.”
Last week she was in Nevada. And today, according to the Washington Post, she is in Arlington, Va.

Shouldn’t she be helping her candidates in Kansas?
If she can swing her old home state of Ohio I will be happy.
And, of course, she denies that she is angling for a cabinet position. She ignores the state that elected her to do a job and is not expecting anything in return? Riiiiiight.
“Trust me….”
If she is offered and does accept a cabinet position, what is the procedure for replacing her as Governor of Kansas?
It’s obvious that Kathleen has retired as the KS Gov. and is working her cabinet position. More power to her.
Mark Parkinson would become governor.
Who cares. She can campaign for whomever she wants.
I seriously doubt that the
“Last week she was in Nevada. And today, according to the Washington Post, she is in Arlington, Va.”
kept her from doing The business of the state of Kansas.
OH HO! Another “common-sense from the Heartland” thread by Rhonda.
This is the same person who gave us our daily Brownback report.
Yawn . . .
Thanks, Mr. C. I thought probably that was how it would work, but wasn’t sure.
I call dibs on Parkinson’s job!
(that is the official method it will get filled)
Sure glad I did not vote for little Queen Kathy, that way I don’t have to make any excuses for her.
Who’s running Alaska since THEIR governor has been MIA?

Perhaos she recognizes that if she can exert some influence in an Obama administration she can more effectively lobby for KS interests.
Who really cares?
She ain’t hurting Kansas and she’s no help to Obama.

I agree with you on that
Thankyou brian,
We should do lunch sometime and build on this foundation of mutual aggreement!
I don’t know if she helps or not. Perhaps in a state like OH where she has roots she can. I agree with HLP – it doesn’t hurt KS with her campaigning.
HLP,
Maybe I could convince you not to vote for McCain :)
The problem is, she keeps coming back.
At least Sebelius unlike Palin isn’t dragging along the kids and expensing it to the state, sometimes going back and adding the kids were invited!http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081021/ap_on_el_pr/palin_family_travel_4
If we get the tanker contract it’ll have more to do with her activities than with our repub so called leaders.
The way Boeing is screwing around the tanker contract will go to Tupolev.
What’s the point of pretending that a partisan election isn’t going on? I can’t even go to the gym without having the candidates up on the telly in the locker room, and the experience is not complete unless the guy on the bench in the corner (maybe he’s resting from a rigorous workout?) somehow fails to point to the screen and confide that voter I.D. should be a requirement because, like, man, there’s a ton of fraud going on out there. See?
If a sampling of Kansans have expressed that it tests their patience to see Sebelius campaigning for Obama, then it might be fair to mention that the administration put in the White House by a significant sampling of Kansas voters in 2000 and 2008 has tested the patience of a few of the rest of us. In addition, a compelling case can be made that the aspiring Nixonian nexus gives every indication of being a challenge even for the virtuous.
If Republicans don’t want to be campaigned against in a partisan fashion, maybe they should have done a better job of running the country the past eight years.
Here’s a better question for Kansans and Americans everywhere: when you wake up on November fifth, will you be able to say to yourself that you did your best? Did you argue on behalf of your candidate? Did you explain, with no apologies, why the opposition is unfit? Elections go through cycles, and sometimes, even if you argue well, the fair winds don’t blow.
Sebelius is serving her country. She’ll wake up on November fifth and know that she did her best. Will you?
Well, the pure joy of being a blogger: I wrote “a significant sampling of Kansas voters in 2000 and 2008″ when I meant 2000 and 2004.
The best thing about this is that she’s not in Kansas!
I have researched the flight records (through mid-May) of the Governor’s Executive Airplane from the Kansas Highway Patrol, and Sebelius has NEVER used the state plane for Obama campaign trips.
I wonder what Kathleen is wearing to the rallys? Maybe a dress made from a Kansas flour sack? I wonder what she paid for it? Maybe she and Obama got their clothes at the K Mart Blue Light Special?
