So you can really find interesting things at malls.
World’s Oldest Fossil Impression Of Flying Insect Discovered: Found In Suburban Strip Mall
ScienceDaily (Oct. 15, 2008) — While paleontologists may scour remote, exotic places in search of prehistoric specimens, Tufts researchers have found what they believe to be the world’s oldest whole-body fossil impression of a flying insect in a wooded field behind a strip mall in North Attleboro, Mass.
During a recent exploration as part of his senior project, Richard J. Knecht, a Tufts geology major, and Jake Benner, a paleontologist and senior lecturer in the Geology Department, set out to hunt for fossils at a location they learned of while reading a master’s thesis that had been written in 1929. With chisels and hammers, the team reached the shale and sandstone outcropping described in the paper. There they delicately picked away pieces of rock before reaching a section that yielded fossils. Just below the surface, they uncovered a fossilized impression of a flying insect.

A Republican decides to torment his child for life by secretly naming his daughter “Sarah McCain Palin Ciptak” behind his wife’s back. They had previously agreed on the name Ava Grace, but when the wife’s back was turned he went and got other forms and filled them out. See, you can’t even trust a Republican when you are married to one.

Maybe it has something to do with his 14 point lead in the national polls.

Democrat party. The party where cheating is a ticket to stardom. Their moral superiority makes it OK!
Voter fraud alert: Houseful of out-of-state Obama activists registered as Ohio voters, received absentee ballots-
Here’s the stench: An entire houseful of young, non-Ohioan Democrat activists have used the Brownlee Avenue address to register themselves to vote in the Buckeye State and secure absentee ballots under extremely shady circumstances — all while mobilizing a large effort to register thousands of others for absentee and early voting. The activists are leaders of a group called “Vote From Home ‘08.” The group is self-identified as having “extensive experience with political organizing, election administration, and Democratic politics.” They were hailed as the “Justice League” by a Daily Kos blogger. Their Facebook page brags: “Want to turn the Presidential election blue in a key swing state?

really great chart p@rn
Suppression of legitmate votes is okay if you are a republic party member. Their moral superiority makes it alright. QED…
I am shocked that posters on this blog have so little faith in our democratic institutions that they think a handful of miscreants could subvert a national election.
There are many safeguards in place to prevent fraudulent voting. Why don’t you go down and talk to our election commissioner (a Republican) and ask him if the election he is supervising could be “stolen.”
Stop frightening yourself. Halloween is still two weeks away.
DavidB
As the country stands 5000 votes one way or the other in the right place could determine who spends the next 4 years in the White House.
Democrats only worry about vote fraud when they lose. Funny.
Anyone else get “polled” last night? Received my first polling call of this season (for U.S. Senate race in Kansas), just wondering if I was the only lucky one.
The great white north elected a stronger (though not majority) consevative government last night. Lets see, 5 time zones, 308 precincts and they had the results by 11.00 PM EST. They used paper ballots where you mark an “X”. Diebold apparetly sruck out up there. What a backward group they must be!
McCains Killer Question
“If the economy is truly the issue that will decide this election, John McCain only needs to ask one rhetorical question to the American people during Wednesday night’s debate: Are you currently working for, or have you ever worked for, a poor person?
The implication is so obvious but, in today’s liberal-dominated media, a conservative’s first duty is to state the obvious. Jobs are produced by people with money who are trying to make more money. This is why those engaging in class warfare by “sticking it” to the rich are ultimately “sticking it” to themselves. Ask them, “Would you rather ‘stick it to the rich’ or have a job?” ”
http://townhall.com/columnists/FrankTurek/2008/10/15/mccains_killer_question
A touch of clarity that will be wasted on a few around here.
More clarity.
“The same is true for “sticking it” to corporations. In the first debate, McCain said that corporate taxes in Ireland are about 11 percent, but he didn’t drive the point home that higher corporate taxes here (about 35%) drive jobs overseas. Every dollar in tax savings is a dollar of profit to a company. Why would any corporation stay in America if it can increase its profits dramatically by paying lower taxes overseas? Any corporation would be unfair to itself and its shareholders if it didn’t pick up and leave. “
Looks like socialist Canada is moving to conservatism:
Harper leads Conservative party to Canada election win
Date: 15 October 2008
CANADIAN prime minister Stephen Harper, the first major world leader to face voters since the global financial meltdown, has led his Conservative party to victory.
But the party was forecast to fall short of a majority in parliament.
The Canadian election agency reported that the Conservatives had won or was leading in races for 143 of Parliament’s 308 seats in yesterday’s election, an improvement over the 127 seats the party had in the previous parliament.
Based on results obtained from election officials, Canadian Broadcasting Corp predicted the Conservative Party would not win the 155 seats needed to govern on its own.
That would force it to again rely on opposition support to pass budgets and legislation – as it has had to since a 2006 election victory.
Mr Harper had called elections early in hopes of getting his party a majority.
Figures gave the Conservatives 37% of the total vote, the Liberals 27%, Bloc Quebecois 10%, New Democrats 18% and others 8%.

CORPORATIONS DON’T PAY TAXES OR FEES. YOU DO!
“As a “frugal” site, I read often, I think you’d hammer this home.
Corporations are very much like a zero sum game. If they have a cost, they pass it along to the person who buys their product or services. If it’s a widget with a pound of steel in it, your paying for that pound. Price of steel goes up, the corporation marks up the price of their product. Simple enough. If they didn’t they’d go broke.
When the gooferment imposes taxes on Corporations, that’s just another cost that the business pass along to you. EXCEPT now you can’t see it. You don’t know what portion of the cost of a loaf of bread is taxes and what portion is bread.
It gets worse, regulations and laws add costs. They come to you hidden in the cost of the products.
It gets even worse, when the gooferment taxes a product that corporations use to make or deliver other products (e.g., gasoline), that tax is a tax on taxes. And is passed along and even buried further. It has an exponential effect!
I’ve seen estimates that the real tax percentage in products is HUGE! 50 to 75%!! I don’t think anyone can tell. AND that’s excatly the politicians purpose.
Bottom line: Corporate taxes imho should be ZERO!
Let’s put the cost of gooferment squarely out in the open! These bozos are no fools. There’s a reason that Tax Day is a half a year away from election day. That reason is that they couldn’t get it any further away.
So, when either candidate talks about corporate taxes, regulation, and fees, I think they are, possibly unknowingly (But I don’t beleive that) DEFRAUDING us from know the true cost of how badly we are being ROBBED!”
sigh, imho,
wake up sheeple,

Notice, KFG had no comment on the substance of the post. As usual.
Is the truth too difficult heckie? You do whine about huffpo and kos and DU. And then post from townhall.
I think it’s funny as hell.
A vote for any republican is a vote for THAT kind of hypocrisy.
You all sure help the voters see clearly the difference between republicans and democrats. If you didnt exist, the democrats would have to invent you.
Individual Tax Cuts
Senator Obama: “What I’ve called for is a tax cut for 95 percent of working families, 95 percent.”
Score: 3 (Nose is growing)
Details: Senator Obama has proposed a tax cut of $500 for workers and $1,000 for working couples. Notice that this tax cut is for “workers” and “working couples,” not 95% of the population. Senator Obama gets a score of 3 for two reasons. First, according to factcheck.org, Senator Obama’s tax plan would benefit only 81% of workers and working households, not 95%. Second, he neglected to point out that the plan generates less than $42 per month for workers and $84 per month for working couples. As regular readers know, I believe every dollar counts. That said, it’s a bit difficult to get excited over $42 to $84 per month. In fact, I suspect Senator Obama would have looked foolish had he said, “Washington has neglected the middle class over the last eight years. I’ll change all that by giving workers $42 a month.” Tax cuts for “95% of working families” sounds a lot better, but it does not tell the whole story.
Senator Obama has proposed other tax cuts, including a mortgage credit for those that do not itemize their deductions and a college credit, both of which would lower taxes for some, but not 95% of workers.
Source:
Tax Policy Center’s 2008 Presidential Candidates’ Tax Proposals
One of Obama’s fellow Harvard men:
Sunday NYTimes has an interesting commentary from Harvard prof Greg Mankiw on Corporate taxes:
Compared with other ways of funding the government, the corporate tax is particularly hard on economic growth. A C.B.O. report in 2005 concluded that the “distortions that the corporate income tax induces are large compared with the revenues that the tax generates.” Reducing these distortions would lead to better-paying jobs.
Of course, a corporate tax cut would affect the federal budget. And any change in tax policy has to be made against a background of a looming fiscal crisis, which threatens to unfold as baby boomers retire and start collecting Social Security and Medicare. In 2007, corporate taxes brought in $370 billion, representing 14 percent of federal revenue. Cutting the rate to 25 percent would seem to cost the Treasury about $100 billion a year.
Part of that revenue loss, however, would be recouped through other taxes. To the extent that shareholders would benefit, they would pay higher taxes on dividends, capital gains and withdrawals from their retirement accounts. To the extent that workers would benefit, they would pay higher payroll and income taxes. Increased economic growth would tend to raise tax revenue from all sources.
If there is substance in a post, I’ll comment on it. If it’s just a screed from a wingnut watering hole, I think I’ll pass.
Or maybe I’ll post something from Huffpo or Kos to refute it… Just to hear heckie whine, ya know?
Hey heckie, how’s all that “substance” working for mcsame?

You ever had a good job working for a poor person?
Some posters here who still hang on bush’s every word are taking his advice to heart!

Bush Calls For Panic
“For those of you who have remained resolute in your belief that things will turn around eventually, I urge you to close your eyes, take shallow rapid breaths, and begin freaking out immediately,” Bush added. “At this point, anyone who isn’t scared to death needs to wake the f**k up—because we’re screwed here.”
During the address, Bush laid out a historic five-point plan for panic that he hopes will help the American people fall apart as quickly as possible. The plan—which many are calling Bush’s most well-thought-out proposal to date—calls for citizens to abandon their daily routines entirely, and engage in a weeklong period of bloodcurdling screaming, arm flailing, dry heaving, and gnawing on one’s fingers while rocking back and forth in alternating bouts of maniacal laughter and gentle sobbing.

You practicing for a job at CNN?
Consider the costs…
* $4,681 per household.
* $1,721 per person.
* $341.4 million per day.
One thing americans do not seem to comprehend is the amount of money being spent on the mideast invasion. It is my assertion that other nations are very much concerned as to how the USA spends its’ money in ways that do not invest only create liability. Yes the rest of the world is very much aware that spending $341,400,000 a day on a money hole is not fiscally responsible. Wonder why the rest of the world has no faith?
Face it war is not investing. The world is now hearing that our politicans want to expand the war back into Afghanistan plus Pakistan. Is there no end? Where is the money?
The USA is spending $341,400,000 a day on war when our economy has been going downhill. This is really quite stupid.
Help for Main Street, Reform for Wallstreet
The Magnitude and Meaning of the Proposed Bailout:
What $700 Billion for Wall Street means on Main Street
NPP Provides Analysis of $700 Billion for Taxpayers
The plan proposed by President Bush and Secretary Paulson for a $700 billion bailout of Wall Street is difficult for most people to comprehend. At NPP, we’ve been crunching the numbers and offer this analysis of what $700 billion means to taxpayers.
A healthy and productive economy requires substantial investment in affordable housing, health care, education and renewable energy. Taxpayers in the United States will be required to pay $700 billion for the Wall Street bailout. They should also know that for the same amount of money, they could secure the following:
*51.6 million people with health care for four years OR
*181.2 million homes with renewable electricity for four years OR
*2.9 million elementary school teachers for four years OR
*27 million four-year scholarships for university students
$700 billion is more than what is currently allocated for the U.S. war in Iraq. This amount would allow us to repair all of our nations 77,000 deteriorated bridges and still have $519 billion to spend; or it would allow us to rebuild all of our nations 33,000 deteriorating schools and still have $664 billion to spend.

Fla. Congressman said to be involved in 2nd affair

(AP) In this Oct. 26, 2006 file photo, Democrat Tim Mahoney waits for the start of a debate, at a West…
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – A married congressman who faces accusations that he had an affair with a former aide and paid her to keep quiet about it also was having an affair with a second woman around the same time, a person close to his campaign told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Details of the second affair came hours after Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney held a news conference to address a story, first reported by ABC News, that he had been involved with the former aide. Mahoney acknowledged he had caused “embarrassment and heartache” to his family but denied doing anything illegal.
Mahoney, 52, won his seat in 2006 while promising to return morals and family values to Washington in the aftermath of the resignation of former Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Foley. Foley stepped down when it was revealed he sent lurid Internet messages to male teenage pages who had worked on Capitol Hill. Foley was later cleared of criminal wrongdoing by state and federal authorities.

Bush administration gave nod for CIA waterboarding
WASHINGTON (AFP) — The administration of US President George W. Bush authorized the CIA to waterboard Al-Qaeda suspects according to two secret memos issued in 2003 and 2004, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.
The memos were issued at the request of intelligence officials who were “troubled that White House policymakers had never endorsed the program in writing,” the newspaper said, citing four administration and intelligence officials familiar with the documents.
“The classified memos, which have not been previously disclosed, were requested by then-CIA Director George J. Tenet more than a year after the start of the secret interrogations,” the Post said.

Let me qualify that. Got anything rational or substantive to say today?
I am so amazed at the R’s here who think they’re so rich that someone is going to take their money. As if they have enough to take. Yet they praise those who ARE taking their money.
Welcome to the middle class, boys.
You could make money if you were a relative or family member of Biden. All politicians of all parties somehow have a way of passing on cash or benefits to family or relatives. Another good job would be with some foundation with a lot of bucks.

Illinois State Rifle Association
Dedicated to education, safety training and support of Illinois firearm owners
October 10, 2008
Fellow Sportsman,
Hello, my name is Rich Pearson and I have been active in the firearm rights movement for over 40 years. For
the past 15 years, I have served in the Illinois state capitol as the chief lobbyist for the Illinois State Rifle
Association.
I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama’s attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone.
The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than Barack Obama.
Although Obama claims to be an advocate for the 2nd Amendment, his voting record in the Illinois Senate paints a very different picture.
While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners and forcibly confiscate banned guns. Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer. Obama also voted for a bill that would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month.
Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law abiding firearm owner. At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and family. Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a “friend” of the law-abiding gun owner?
And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger – a renegade Chicago priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun legislators. Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And let’s not forget Obama’s pal George
Soros – the guy who has pumped millions of dollars into the UN’s international effort to disarm law-abiding
citizens.
Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people’s money to fund his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a “friend” of the law-abiding gun owner?

I have often wondered why conservatives pee in their panties at the very thought of liberal viewpoints.
Well Steven. The truth hurts. They dont like pain.
Ooooooo.
Berkley style.
Alice Waters where are you?
She must be on the Group W bench….
Steven,
I don’t see Conservatives pushing for the “fairness doctrine” against papers and the other forms of broadcast media controlled by the left like the liberals are crying for against Radio.
Some Conservative might indeed be fed up with what they see as liberal bias.
But you don’t see us pushing for government control and forcing the paper or news to be “fair”
The difference between Conservatives and Liberals:
When confronted with Liberal bias Conserviatves simply go somewhere else for their news.
When confronted with Conservative bias Liberals demand that the government shut it down in the name of “fairness”
Nevermind the fact that you liberals have been crying like little babies about Fox News since it started.
You still do.
Nathan, do you need the waaaaaaaaahmbulance?
KFG,
One of my best friends went to school at Berkley. She passed away a couple of years ago. She was living in Lawrence at the time, so she died happy.
Nathan,
I don’t believe I have ever posted support for the fairness doctrine. Don’t listen Rush, don’t feel the need; everything is cool with me.
Don’t watch Fox, unless I need some laughs.
More Democratic vote fraud (is this a surprise, coming from an organization funded in part by the Chicago Mafia – er, Obama campaign?):
Late in the day – in a victory for Republicans – the full Cincinnati-based 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a decision made last week by three of its members. The result: Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner must create computer programs to cross check all new voter registrations so that county boards of elections can doublecheck new registrants.
The Secretary of State will now have to verify new registrations by comparing information on them with data from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles or the Social Security Administration.
“As far as we can tell, the problem with the current system (of cross-checking) is not that it is insufficiently user-friendly, but that it is effectively useless,” wrote Judge Jeffrey Sutton, writing for the majority.
. . . .
• The Hamilton County Board of Elections is checking whether ACORN fraudulently submitted multiple voter registrations for people who don’t exist; The board has received at least 10,000 duplicate voter registrations this year and possibly thousands of fictitious ones, deputy director John William said earlier. Julie Wilson, a spokeswoman for Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, said Tuesday she could not comment on cases, but said, “Any violation of Ohio law Joe is going to treat seriously.”
. . . .
Read for yourself. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20081014/NEWS0106/310150008
I wish I could say I’m surprised by these sorts of shenanigans. But given Chicago’s history of massive Democratic machine voter fraud (and Obama’s a product of that environment), I’m not.
Will it get reported in the wider MSM? I laugh at even the thought. No, they’re too deep in the tank for Obama.
“She was living in Lawrence at the time, so she died happy.”
Heh. Good. Reminds me of Prine.
“my foot fell asleep and I swallowed my candy knowing (s)he was in heaven, be-fore she died”.
“If not, then what was your point in posting it?”
As I clearly stated, an example of comments from foreign newspapers. It matters to me (A LOT!) that America isn’t well thought of. It matters to me (A LOT!) that bush has made new and worse enemies of our country. America used to be able to hold her head high and truly be better than terrorists. bushco have made our beloved country no better than anyone else when it comes to stooping to the lowest levels of torture. It matters to me that we live in MORE danger than before because of bushco. It matters that Americans elected bush TWICE. We should pay attention to what is going on, what is being said, what is happening in the world! It matters!

The cons do alright when they go to rw sites and get their conservative view news. They just encounter a problem when they try to use it on a main stream media, and get their butts handed to them every time.
Guess I’d whine too, or just stay off of the mainstream media with my RW drivel.
Steven said all is good with him. He’s always been trustworthy so I don’t think he needs anything he doesn’t already have.
Excuse me, I scrolled back and found that actually what Steven said was that everything is cool with him. ;-)
Linda,
So you post a random comment from Al Jazeera to prove that point?
Are you saying that America is not better than terrorists now?
Only in your mind would using waterboarding on less than a handful of people make us as bad as the terrorists.
Nathan, I think “everything is cool” hardly represents a need for the waaaaaaaambulance.
And you?
That is exactly what I’m saying! bush trashed America’s honor and dignity!
I wouldn’t care if someone registered me three times, I’m only going to show up to vote once, no harm would’ve been done.
So, if you have winos going down a phone book taking down names to register (either they’re going to get thrown out, or the person isn’t even going to know they’ve become registered-in which case they’re not planning on voting anyway) don’t see the harm done except to the voter verification system.

Nope, but we shouldn’t have felt relief on Monday. Some of the biggest one-day gains in the history of the stock market happened during The Great Depression. Our economy, like other areas entrusted to bushco, has been trashed.
Want more of the same? Vote McCain.
Linda,

You are nothing more than a Partisan Hack.
This economy will never be fixed when people like you can do nothing more than say it was all Bush’s fault.
America is now taking a back seat in world leadership in the areas of human rights, finance and banking, several areas of technology.
With the will power and wisdom of some younger leadership here, we can get back on track.
Perhaps some do not need to get along with their neighbors, but America does…

I’ve never said most of the things you attribute to me, Nathan. There is much blame to go around. I’m ready to move forward, as most Americans are. Now, I’ll leave you to continue to denigrate me as usual.
The only thing you liberals have is to hope for doom and gloom in the economy to have a chance in this election.
It is rather sad to watch how you all flock to the bad news and run away from the good news.
It is interesting, is it not, that the actions taken by the various governments to help the credit markets are not, seemingly, helping in any meaningful way, the stock markets. Of course, these actions should not be expected to directly help the stock markets on any immediate basis; they were not so designed.
Seems to me that the traders in the stock market (and in particular the DJIA) are contemplating the generally not-so-good economic news that is being revealed through a variety of reports (and likely pricing based upon more “bad” news expected later in the week). Which, of course, has little to nothing to do with what is currently happening or not happening in the credit markets.

Nathaniel, I hate to ask a direct question. I do not like to personalize this blog, but…
Are you pleased with the way the eight years of Bush has turned out? Did you vote for him? Once? Twice?
Are you satisfied with the direction our country is headed?
Senator McCain is presenting solid plans to protect American families and to turn out economy around with 21st Century jobs and technologies…
I have every right to comment about Linda’s attacks on Bush. I never expected her to present her own global financial recovery plan.
Linda, hazarding a guess, “officially” the third quarter, 2008, if, as I expect, there is a GDP contraction in said quarter when the final figures are released; this will, I opine, continue through the fourth quarter, 2008, and into at least the second quarter, 2009.
As someone posted on the WEBlog today (I think on a different thread) there are some former Fed governors who believe that the U.S. economy became recessionary in the second quarter, 2008 (using accepted, but different from the “textbook”, definition of a recession).
DavidB,
I am not pleased with the way things turned out after 8 years. Not for the same reasons many of you have though.
I voted for Bush both times.
No I am not satisfied with the way our country is headed. Not with the Democrats in control of Congress anyway.

Time for Bush to stay the heck off TV.
Got this in my email today:
“Washington D.C. – In what supporters of the President have dubbed his “legacy year,” Americans United for Change, the progressive issue-advocacy group best known for leading the successful fight to beat back President Bush’s effort to privatize Social Security in 2005, has hit the road with its latest effort, the Bush Legacy Bus: a 45-foot long, 28-ton, clean bio-diesel powered museum on wheels featuring several interactive exhibits on how two terms of failed conservative policies supported by Bush and his allies – including Senators John McCain and Pat Roberts – have weakened America’s security abroad while neglecting and undermining important priorities here at home.
On Thursday, Oct. 16 the Bush Legacy Tour will make its latest stop in Wichita at 12 PM at 1330 E. 1st Street N, where the people of Kansas will be given an opportunity to reflect on how 8 years of failed Bush/McCain/conservative policies have left an economy in shambles, millions more without health insurance, an endless and mismanaged war in Iraq that has stretched our military to the breaking point, and thousands each day losing their jobs, their homes, and their dignity. AUFC will hold Sen. Roberts accountable for voting in lockstep with Bush’s failed policies 90 percent of the time, according to Congressional Quarterly.
Kicking off across the street from the White House on June 24th, the National Bush Legacy Bus tour has visited more than 40 states – from New Hampshire to New Mexico – and will continue making nearly 150 stops in the hometowns of Bush’s enablers in Congress and symbolic locations like the President’s home away from home in Crawford, Texas. Click here to visit the Bush Legacy Tour homepage: http://www.bushlegacytour.com“
Ben,

Here you go:
Most Americans disagreed with you when they supported enough electorate votes to elect Bush twice.
My goodness. Happy now?
Nope, AmericanWay, the perceived responsibilities of the office of the President will cause President Bush to take to the air again soon. Probably not until tomorrow, what with the debate tonight; most likely, pre-market open tomorrow morning.
“Speaking of missing, has anyone heard from BlueJay?”
I wondered the same thing today.
he’s missed
No – because it is not true that ‘most Americans’ supported it. Only that a large enough minority was distributed in such a fashion as to get a majority of the electoral vote did so. That is a very different thing entirely.
Every time he opens his mouth the market drops.
Bush says:
“Don’t worry. Be happy”

Then they realize throwing money at this huge problem is not going to make it go away:
Investors say, “SELL! SELL!”

Ben,
Well, how about this:
Even after only enough Americans voted for bush to give him the electoral votes needed to win his first term, a majority of Americans did support him again for President a 2nd term.
Happy now?

Ha-ha, like thats going to happen. Kansas will stay red.
Besides, you better be bashing all those democrats who voted AYE!
Like on the vote to go to war in Iraq.
I should have stated “Semi-Global Cooling”, I was avoiding the southern hemisphere..
O.K., I have to admit it, for the first time I had to really really try hard to find a new news article on ACORN committing fraud. So, for the 15th of October, I have no real new reports of fraud.
So a recap?
“Much has been made of the Democrats 50 state strategy to win the election. Who knew there was a fall back 15 state strategy to steal it if they couldn’t win it?
Americans who haven’t heard about ACORN and voter fraud haven’t been paying attention. Some have been hearing about it for years. Others are just now hearing after waking up to find elections upon us once again. Seems like every couple of years there’s an election and whenever there is, there’s talk about people trying to steal it.
This year is no different. But for the first time, the fraud seems massive and everywhere. And most all the fingers are pointing at ACORN. They are political activists, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. According to Wikipedia, ACORN ” … is a community-based organization that advocates for low- and moderate-income families by working on neighborhood safety, health care and other social issues.” Wikipedia has frozen further edits to ACORN’s page because people can’t agree; according to others, ACORN is a Liberal group committed to electing Democrats by any means possible, legal and illegal.
Prior to 2008, while ACORN was a player in terms of voter fraud, there wasn’t much to report. My first memory is South Dakota from 2002. This year ACORN is under scrutiny in over a fourth of America’s 50 states.
According to the New York Post and numerous other sources, 15 states are looking into ACORN for possible voter fraud. There’s just one problem, I can’t find 15 from this election cycle. I can only find 13! I looked but no one reporting the 15 state figure backed it up. A bit of light was shed when I found a comment making the tally 15 “since 2004?. Not quite the felonious total first reported, but why quibble over a couple of states. A count of 13 still means in 2/3 of the states in which ACORN ran registration drives this cycle, there were problems. If anyone knows the other two states, let me know and I’ll issue an update. If problems turn up in any of other states, let me know as well.
The 13 instances noted below are all from this election cycle. All but the Washington case are from 2008.
Connecticut – falsifying/forging voter registration cards;
Florida – falsifying voter registration;
Indiana – falsifying/forging voter registration cards;
Michigan – dozens of fraudulent forms;
Missouri – falsifying voter registration applications;
Nevada – fraudulent registrations including two for Tony Romo and Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys;
New Mexico – hiring felons to work on registration drives;
North Carolina – fraudulent registrations submitted;
Ohio – one man ACORN registered to vote over 70 times;
Pennsylvania – $2k reward offered for ACORN temp charged with perjury, identity theft and vote fraud;
Texas – 40% of 27K registrations from Houston rejected;
Washington – worst case of registration fraud in state history;
Wisconsin – hiring felons as “special registration deputies” and falsifying registration forms.
The links above are just one link to the state’s story. In several instances there are multiple reports on the same case and in a few instances, there are multiple cases of fraud in a single state. The point is, this isn’t made up. ACORN’s standard response seems to be the “We can’t be made to pay for what others do!” defense. But they don’t seem to mind if we pay in their place.
With the news out the Obama campaign hired ACORN, paying them $800k for voter registration it seems likely the heat is not going to do anything but increase. Stay tuned and stay informed. Alert and knowledgeable citizens outflank 15 state strategies every time!”

Cosmos,
There lies the problem.
You stated that I “basically said” which involves an assumption on your part and your opinion.
Again, this is that tortured logic I was talking about.
The simple truth is that I never said that the difference between the electoral college and polular vote is a semantic nor was that ever what I meant to say either.
The only way you can arrive at such a conclusion is by using assumptions on your part which are not true nor proven.
You have no trouble attacking Bush as a person.
More like attacking Bush as a president, but hey, it’s all semantics anyway.

He promises to “kick Senator Obama’s you-know-what.”
Will he or won’t he?
Here where I work they have voter registration forms at reception. If an individual person filled one out with “Donald Duck at 1 Quack Lane” would that make my company guilty of voter fraud? Apparently according to the McCainiacs it would.
And if some Republican black bag guys sign up to work for a community activist groups and submits hundreds of bad applications…
(Note: Read up on Carl Rove’s first political activities in Illinois…)
LOL.. cons are quiet now.. they are getting their talking points on Fox…
Pssst…David, so are the libs….
Commentary: Palin should read troopergate report
Sarah Palin’s reaction to the Legislature’s Troopergate report is an embarrassment to Alaskans and the nation.
She claims the report “vindicates” her. She said that the investigation found “no unlawful or unethical activity on my part.”
Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian.
Page 8, Finding Number One of the report says: “I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.”
In plain English, she did something “unlawful.” She broke the state ethics law.

A great analysis of McCain’s campaign, and Palin, by Robert Shrum.
‘McCain’s unraveling began with Palin‘

“But mixed messages are the essence of McCain’s exertions. The candidate suffers grievously from a dual sense—first that he has no credible plan to deal with the economic issues he’s said he doesn’t understand and, second, that he’s not steady, but erratic, irascible, lurching from position to position as he wanders around the stage.”
Report: Taxpayers paid for GOP politicking in 2006 elections
WASHINGTON — The White House dispatched cabinet members and other agency officials to more than 300 events nationwide to help Republican candidates in the run-up to the 2006 midterm elections, according to a House of Representatives committee report.
Taxpayers paid for more than half of the events, the report said.
The draft report, issued Wednesday by California Rep. Henry Waxman, the Democratic chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, accuses the White House of requesting the travel to save money for the Republican congressional campaigns.
The administration also authorized mandatory political briefings for agency political appointees with the aim of helping Republican candidates, the report charges.
From Jan. 1, 2006, to Election Day in 2006, administration officials made 326 appearances with Republican candidates, with 185 of them at taxpayer expense, the report said.

duh! The POTUS is required to fly on Air Force One.
I really don’t think “Huge Nostrils” Waxman wants to go there.
Ummmm Regular??? That article above does NOT say that the POTUS made trips to help candidates… It says “Administration Oficials”
It ALSO does not say anything about Air Fore One….
It DOES say at “taxpayer expense”
Dont use your now infamous red herrings… they wont work anymore!!
From the Sports section of the L.A. Times, I thought this was a fun comparison.

John McCain and the Dodgers find themselves in the same pickle.
Both ”teams” have to climb out of a big hole of their own digging.
The Dodgers start their shoveling an hour earlier than the Republican presidential candidate does; the Dodgers game begins at 5 p.m., the final presidential debate between McCain and Barack Obama at 6 p.m.
In the championship series, the Dodgers trail the Phillies 3-1; and in the presidential debates, McCain is behind Barack Obama 2-0. And both have been drawing huge TV audiences. The difference is, if the Dodgers win, they get to play the Phillies again. Even if McCain wins this debate, it’s his last matchup with Obama.
My prediction: a lot of swinging for the fences. Oh, and I expect the Dodgers will try that, too.

50 million abortions in the USofA since 1970 have cost the American economy $35 trillion. That comes in the form of lost productivity by having fewer workers contributing to society, not to mention the devastating physical and psychological impacts on millions of mothers, often shared by their families and close friends. If you include all the babies lost to IUDs, RU-486 abortions, sterilization, and abortifacients, the number climbs to $70 trillion.
An Obamanation administration would surely shove America into the dismal economic and population decline that we now see in Russia.

Five years ago today, Florida quacks removed the feeding tube of Terri Schiavo, a woman who was conscious and not terminally ill, but permanently and inconveniently disabled by brain damage. (The tube was reinserted six days later after the Florida Legislature rushed through “Terri’s Law,” which was later struck down by the leftist, activist Florida Supreme Court. Terri Schiavo was then slowly executed by a horrifying 13-day starvation and dehydration.)

William Edward Allen, 23, of Orlando, FL faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated child neglect and several other felony charges in the abandonment of his newborn son, found in a garbage bag Monday with the top folded over to prevent air from entering. The infant was returned to his mother. Mr. Allen claimed he wanted to keep rain off the baby, and didn’t remember where he left him.
Oh thank you parkay. There must be a labor shortage, we better encourage more immigration from Mexico. I guess the labor shortage is why everyone has such huge salaries and unemployment is non-existent.
Now go back to huffing your fetus dust.
“Terri Schiavo, a woman who was conscious and not terminally ill, but permanently and inconveniently disabled by brain damage”
Why didn’t you offer her a place to stay Parkay Cheesedick?
Your Dudley Do-Right stance only goes so far?
I guess golfnuts must be busy buying more stock?

Yes, Terry’s brain was the size of a walnut, the poor thing. But that is vice-presidential-quality by current standards….
Oh yes, now I remember. The court ruled that the government had to get out of the way of the husband and wife’s end of life decision.

So the RNC is ditching McCain and just trying to hold on to the seats that they are in danger of losing.
I wonder if he lets Bill Frist treat him via telephone when he’s sick?
Who you gonna believe. Frist? Or those lying eyes of yours.
And the autopsy.
What do the top ten cities with the highest poverty rate all have in common?
Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1961;
Buffalo , NY (2nd) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1954;
Cincinnati, OH (3rd)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1984;
Cleveland, OH (4th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1989;
Miami, FL (5th) has never had a Republican mayor;
St. Louis, MO (6th)….hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1949;
El Paso, TX (7th) has never had a Republican mayor;
Milwaukee, WI (8th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1908;
Philadelphia, PA (9th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1952;
Newark, NJ(10th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1907.
Einstein once said, ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’
It is the disadvantaged who habitually elect Democrats — yet are still disadvantaged.
And this is what we want for the entire country.
WHAAAA??? ACORN IS REQUIRED TO TURN IN ALL APPLICATIONS
“statutes of at least nine of those 11 states require third parties registering prospective voters to submit to election officials all registration forms they received — even those they believed to be false or duplicate applications.”
mediamatters.org/items/200810140021?f=h_top
2 EXAMPLES:
Indiana Code 3-14-2-5, “A person who recklessly destroys or fails to file or deliver to the proper officer a registration affidavit or form of registration after the affidavit or form has been executed commits a Class A misdemeanor.”
Section 115.203 of Missouri election law, “No person who agrees or offers to submit a voter registration application for another person shall knowingly destroy, deface, or conceal such voter registration application. … Any person who accepts or receives a voter registration application from another person and agrees or offers to submit such application to the election authority for the registrant shall deliver the application to the election authority within seven days of accepting or receiving the application.” Further, “[a] violation of this section is a class four election offense.”
Nathaniel,
And what you “meant to say” is . . .?
http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2008/10/open-thread-1015/#comment-447877
Okay, then tell us exactly what you “meant to say” when you used “semantic”.
Otherwise, my “assumption” seems to be accurate.
Bush just doesn’t want to leave, does he. Blackwater had to have full immunity, but not the troops?
The bilateral pact replaces a U.N. Security Council resolution enacted after the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003 and will give Iraq’s elected government authority over the U.S. troop presence for the first time.
Iraq said it had secured the right to prosecute U.S. soldiers for serious crimes under certain circumstances, an issue both sides had long said was holding up the pact.
