John McCain’s reference to Barack Obama as “that one” during Tuesday night’s debate has led to buzz and even T-shirts. Discussing a goody-stuffed energy bill, McCain said, “You know who voted for it? You might never know. That one.” Obama campaign staffers variously termed it an “odd” moment that showed McCain’s disdain for his opponent, while a McCain spokeswoman said “they are again proving to be the fussiest campaign in American history.”
On CBS’ “The Late Late Show,” host Craig Ferguson had trouble thinking of when it would be appropriate to refer to a senator in that way. “Maybe if you had to pick a U.S. senator out of a lineup,” Ferguson said. “‘Which one of these senators tapped your foot in the bathroom?’ ‘That one.’”

I think anyone watching the debate realized that McCain wasn’t all there that evening. So if McCain said “that one” which really is being overblown, c’mon, the codger was wandering the stage in a daze. We should be impressed that McCain remained coherent for most of the debate.
John S (for Senile) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) looked like Admiral Stockdale in a debate forum that supposedly his strength.
McCoot is three years older than Stockdale was that night of “Who am I? Why am I here?”
Michael Kinsley reports a 2005 incident at a casino where McCodger was pursuing his passion, craps:
“Apparently there is some kind of rule or tradition in craps that everyone’s hands are supposed to be above the table when the dice are about to be thrown. McCain—“very likely distracted by one of the many people who approached him that evening,” Jeff says charitably—apparently was violating this rule. A small middle-aged woman at the table, apparently a “regular,” reached out and pulled McCain’s arm away. I’ll let Jeff take over the story:
“McCain immediately turned to the woman and said between clenched teeth: ‘DON’T TOUCH ME.’ The woman started to explain…McCain interrupted her: ‘DON’T TOUCH ME,’ he repeated viciously. The woman again tried to explain. ‘DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU’RE TALKING TO?’ McCain continued, his voice rising and his hands now raised in the ‘bring it on’ position. He was red-faced….”
It’s like that (lame) joke about the Alzheimer’s ward where a guy says, “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?”
And a fellow patient responds, “No. But the nurse at the front desk can tell you who you are.”
Kinsley. teeheeed.
Where can I buy one of those T-shirts?

Too bad they don’t have one that says “ME” with the ugly bastard’s face with that gritted smile.
Petty.
Contemptibly unimportant and picayune.
Petty.
Contemptibly unimportant and picayune.
And maybe a few puss cancers popping out like the guy in DUNE.
You betcha!
That one is mild compared to what the Osama Obama supports call McCain.
Get over it.
WAUKESHA, Wis. — Senator John McCain joined in the attacks on Thursday on Senator Barack Obama for his ties to the 1960s radical William Ayers, telling an angry, raucous crowd in Wisconsin that “we need to know the full extent of the relationship” to judge whether Mr. Obama “is telling the truth to the American people or not.”
……
What about the issues, John-Boy? The stock market falls, affecting the entire world, but you’re stuck on Ayers. What about your promise to run a clean campaign?

McCain should also have added that one with the big ears. Better for the stupid news media to talk about that “One” than how bad everything is out there and not just the economy. Then of course you can also get a Palin t-shirt with the lips.

________________________________________________
Pre, the McCain camp says that if they campaign on the issues, they’ll lose.
I predict that we’re about to see the dirtiest campaign in American history. McCain’s ads are 100% negative compaired to 30% of Obama’s.
For the next 4 weeks, all we’re going to hear from McCain is negative crap. He has no issues; he has no point.
Does anybody recall how McCain said that his campaign would never take the low road?
Obama is distraught with the whole Black church scene
“Black nationalism is everywhere that African Americans exist. It’s the bond that makes perfectly sane people collectively embarrassed by the antics of Michael Jackson. In 2008, it causes millions of normally sober African Americans to binge on Obama’laide, to drink constantly to the political health of a man who gives not a damn about them, and who actually flees from their presence like a plague.
Black nationalism has scared Obama at least temporarily out of The Church!
In his ceaseless attempts to meld Black realities and white illusions, Obama tries to marginalize Rev. Wright by calling Wright’s belief system “generational” – another word for outdated – only to have Wright replaced in the pulpit by a “hip hop pastor” whose politics is perfectly compatible with Wright’s, and with the radical white clerical elder, Rev. Pfleger. At that point, Obama must head for the door, family in tow, never to return.
University of Chicago Black political scientist Michael Dawson writes that “the black movement that is developing in support of [Obama's] campaign has some of the markings of black nationalism.” Specifically, Obama is buoyed by a “middle-class” type of Black nationalism – the kind that is more common in politicized Black Christian churches and professional groupings than Nation of Islam circles. Obama’s lurching exit from Trinity Church shows that he can’t tolerate Black nationalism of any kind, if it gets in the way of white outreach.
In the end, Black people’s one-sided love affair with Barack Obama can never be consummated. He recoils at every stage, answering love with unconcealed revulsion. One day soon, we’ll take the hint.
Of course, the real deal is former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, presidential candidate for the Green Party ticket. McKinney reports she’s leading in the Greens’ delegate count. Unlike Obama, whose politics is substantially to the Right of most Blacks, Cynthia McKinney loves you back.”

If McCain and Republicans continue on this race baiting game and negative attack ads, they will be responsible for their party to have a very hard time in future elections.
The majority of American voters have already caught on to Bush and Cheney that has played the class warfare card the last 8 years and now McCain/Palin are playing the race and fear cards.
It does not look good to be this desperate and McCain is not a lovable personality. It is widely reported about McCain’s temper and nasty remarks – most people I know don’t want those traits in their leaders.
The Black Agenda?
I thought there was only The Gay Agenda?
I think it’s the CON agenda to play the fear card for any “agenda” that isnt White Supremicist.
…and let’s not even talk about the Dominionist Agenda…
Obviously, mccain couldn’t remember Obama’s name, so he pointed and said ‘that one’.

Donna Brazile Is Not Going To The Back of The Bus

Phantom,
McCain probably doesn’t realize that his cute trick has been turned to a positive for the other side. :)
Thank you, Pre. I hadn’t heard Donna Brazile say those words and it would be good if everyone listened and really heard what she had to say. Actually made me teary eyed.
I think ‘Obama Nation’ is another good slogan the dems should capitalize on. Much better than ‘Bankrupt Nation’.
Every Black person who grew up in the South knows what “that one” refers to. I know people from the Midwest and other areas of the country may not be aware of the reference and may be hesitant to grasp the real meaning of those words and it’s connotation. Mr. McCain, your generational anger and bigotry and disdain for a Black man opposing you in a Presidential election, has finally shone through. Thank you for helping this Independent voter make up his mind!!!!!!!!

================================================
Being as the McCain camp is afraid of heights, the low road is all they can take.
Pre,
Thanks so much for the linky.
Donna Brazile is one of the most inspirational, can-do people I’ve ever had the honor to meet. (A certain person I’ve talked to you about reminds me of her;) )
Whether McCain meant the phrase ‘that one’ as racial or not, just using that phrase in that context made McCain look unpresidential and condescending.
Maybe McCain thinks he is a funny man because he did try to inject humor into the debate throughout the night and got nothing but blank stares back at him. If I was him, I would have taken the hint the first few times and stopped trying to be funny.
As I have stated before, McCain is not a lovable personality and any hint of condescending attitude will bring him down even further in the eyes of the voters.
Maybe McCain should have not ditched David Letterman that night and have Letterman help him with a few funny jokes!
mommy- As I have stated before, McCain is not a lovable personality and any hint of condescending attitude will bring him down even further in the eyes of the liberal voters that are already drunk on Koolaid.

Did McCain “grow up in the South?”
Well, I guess the canal zone IS south.

“Independent voter” yeah.

Would you consider the following statement to be bigoted or racist.
“My Grandmother was a typical white woman.”
I mean, being from the south and all, it probably doesn’t mean a thing…..does it?
