How remarkable that many of those most excited about John McCain’s choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate seem even more enthusiastic since Monday’s revelation that her unwed 17-year-old daughter is pregnant. Focus on the Family’s James Dobson, for example, praised the family “for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.” Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council congratulated the Palins for “choosing life in the midst of a difficult situation.” Did they feel the same way about “Juno” or Jamie-Lynn Spears? Why should unplanned teen pregnancies reflect well on family values in some families but not others?
At least the news could be expected to spotlight McCain’s record on reproductive issues beyond his opposition to abortion, including his votes not to fund teen-pregnancy prevention programs and not to require insurance companies that cover Viagra to also cover contraception.

Hope some enterprising journalist asks her “Have your views on Abstinence Only changed in light of recent developments?”
Would Palin have made her daughter ‘grow up too soon’ if she’d of been 13 instead of 17?
My wife was 17 when we married, and no we didn’t have to.
A thread for the Liberal perverts and their unhealthy attraction of underage girls – how nice.
“Hope some enterprising journalist asks her “Have your views on Abstinence Only changed in light of recent developments?””
Why would they change?
Because she’d know first hand that the ‘Promise ring’ does nothing to prevent pregnancies, unless she’s a total moron.
Interesting quote:
“Instead of just flat-out making a hypocrisy accusation against “the
social conservatives” who “are rallying behind” Republican vice
presidential nominee Sarah Palin following news her 17-year-old daughter
is pregnant, CBS’s Jeff Greenfield suggested “very conservative
Republicans” may be hypocrites based on how they might have reacted eleven
years ago. On Monday’s CBS Evening News, Greenfield, at the site of the
delayed Republican convention, felt compelled to share: “The one question
that occurs to me is if 17-year-old Chelsea Clinton had become pregnant
while living in the White House, would the reaction on the part of the
Family Research Council and other very conservative Republicans been the
same? Maybe it would have been, but it’s a question worth asking.”
If it were the daughter of the liberal naysayers, they would probably have the baby aborted.
As far as “making her daughter grow up too soon”, if she were 13 instead of 17 I suspect they would either adopt the baby themselves (the Palins, that is) or get her to put it up for adoption.
Abstinence? It’s the only thing that works 100 percent of the time it’s applied. Obviously it wasn’t applied here.
““Hope some enterprising journalist asks her “Have your views on Abstinence Only changed in light of recent developments?””
Why would they change?”
Maybe because here is proof that abstinence only is not realistic?
Consider this family.
Better yet, go rent the movie “Nice Girls Don’t Explode” and get an idea of the dynamic of this Palin family.
I bet mom was drilling Bristol from the time she was 3. “Save yourself for the wedding night!”
Poppa Palin the snow machine racer probably cleaned his guns when boys came calling.
But still, Bristol does what teens do and rides the hobby horse.
“didn’t have to.” — Phantom
Yes you did.
This is a typical Republican double-standard.
If Obama had an unmarried, teenage, pregnant daughter, I can only imagine the howls from the lunatic right-wing fringe.
Only the most cynical, craven conservative would give a free pass to the Palins and couch it as “conservative family values at work”.
But after 8 years of Republican lies, deception and lawlessness, they have had plenty of practice.
As a pro-choice liberal, I heartily applaud the Palin family for choosing life.
Contrary to conservative lies, most of us on the left also hate abortion.
I hope for a future USA where abortions are legal and extremely rare.
“Abstinence? It’s the only thing that works 100 percent of the time it’s applied. Obviously it wasn’t applied here.”
Interesting how the very same people who tout abstinence as preventing pregnancy 100% of the time seem to be the very same ones who base their religion on an absolute belief in virgin birth! Make up your minds, folks.
I went to High School in the 80’s and still knew where to find birth control and it wasn’t the school nurse.
If Obama had an unmarried, teenage, pregnant daughter, I can only imagine the howls from the lunatic right-wing fringe.
Yep. It would be something like “How can we trust him to run the country when he can’t even raise his own kids to obey basic moral standards!”
How different things are when the shoe is on the other foot.
I agree with Obama: let’s take this opportunity to kill that kind of demagoguery once and for all.

Heh, in the age of tabloid media, who do we turn to for common sense?
Why, of course. . . . Lindsay Lohan!
What do you think? Does the fact that her daughter is pregnant at 17 influence your impression of Gov. Palin as a mother or a vice-presidential candidate?
Or do you feel, like Lindsay Lohan does, that talking about this issue only detracts from having an important discussion about Palin’s qualifications and her leadership capabilities?
Keep reading to see what LiLo wrote about this issue on her blog — and no, we’re not kidding.
Lindsay Lohan wrote in her blog this week:
“I think the real problem comes from the fact that we are taking the focus off of getting to know Sarah Palin and her political views, and what she can do to make our country a less destructive place. Its distracting from the real issues, the real everyday problems that this country experiences.”
She goes on.
“I get Sarah Palin’s views against abortion, but I would much prefer to hear more about what she can do for our country rather than how her daughter is going to have a child no matter what. Maybe focus on delivering some words and policy with stronger impact like Joe Biden.”
She keeps going on about how important sex education is:
“I think that parents need to recognize how important it is to talk to their children about the things that can result from being sexually active if they aren’t protecting themselves (birth control, condoms, etc.)”
What has the world come to when LiLo starts to make sense?

Well, she was McCain’s third option, right behind Paris.
“If this would have happened to the Clintons….”
psssst!…Well why don’t the liberals demonstrate for the whole country how the Conservatives “would have reacted”? How about making this a campaign issue and attack Palin and her daughter? If I could whisper anonomyous advice into the ear of the Obama campaign, I would urge the campaign to use this to political advantage.
Unfortunatley, Obama himself is smarter than that. Obama’s supporters however, like the Wichita Eagle, will predictabley fall right in line with the strategy to exhibit how intolerant they really are. The fact that millions of families can relate to the Palins will be lost to the Obama’s shameless supporters.
Folks, when Clarence Thomas was up for the Supreme Court, the good Senators had no choice but to consider Anita Hill’s disturbing allegations.
But the fact is, the controvsrsy over that masked the more relevant reasons to oppose Thomas: his decidedly odd views on the Consitution and the republic.
I think there’s an object lesson in that. Ask Lindsay.

How do we know that Chelsa didn’t vist Tiller?
The space aliens, under the direction of Elvis, watch her every move.
Oh for GOD SAKE. Since your goddess went and got pregnant now you have to project that onto Chelsea? Give me a freaking break.
And you know, if Palin’s daughter had gone to any clinic to get birth control it’d been front page news. In Alaska.
The hypocrisy is astounding from the religious right. I don’t want to demonize the girl, or make her feel responsible for her mom getting beat up.
Of course, the parents of teens who have gotten pregnant and opted to keep them, have often gotten beaten up for their kids being promiscuous, from calling them dirty names, to blaming the parents for not parenting.
If Palin really wanted to win over some voters, she’d come out against this for everyone, not just her family. Have a real discussion on how to prevent pregnancy in teens, from abstinence to preparing them for when they are going to do it.
I remember having this discussion when Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant and they were going to kick her off the air. The religious right were foaming at the mouth over her mother’s parenting- over Nickelodeon’s decision to continue to air the program. so yeah, I’m all for pointing out their hypocrisy.
How about making this a campaign issue and attack Palin and her daughter?
Considering everything going on, I think the left on this blog has done a fairly good job of not focusing on this subject. Yes, one or two have posted on it today (Open Thread), but 3 or 4 (if even that) posts in 181 shows we posted about other things a lot more.
Regular seems to like to discuss it more than the left does, hoping, I’m sure, to taunt us into getting a case of the nasties.
Raptor chose to scold us for the few posts, or was it because there were any posts at all on Sarah Palin’s past political history? What? The VP nominee is off limits, too, because her daughter happens to be pregnant?
If this can be discussed reasonable, without name-calling and finger pointing, what’s wrong with doing so? Oh, wait, that means all posters here would have to behave like adults.
Never mind.
Millions of Americans in the same situation Can’t identify with the relatively, financially secure position of Sarah Palin.
Don’t know much about the father of the baby but if he’s like most kids their age, he prbably has never held a job of any significance or duration, but will soon find himself getting a better position than those who’ve worked hard at trying to reach.
I wish all you MSM scumbags would take a minute and think about what if it were you (or your daughter) in the spotlight, instead of a 17 year old girl, who’s probably dealing with the huge changes in her life as best she can right now. But anything for a story, right!!! I really hope her world will come together, supported by loving families, in spite of all the blood-sucking vampires out there trying to destroy her.
C’mon people…get real, will you? Imagining things to criticize now? You have really hit a new low, saying that if it had been Chelsea, then the “rw would have gone nuts”
You are inventing things, Chelsea didn’t get pregnant, so it is a ridiculous comment. Just another imaginary thing to criticize. Like the comment:
“I bet mom was drilling Bristol from the time she was 3. “Save yourself for the wedding night!” You have no basis for even suggesting such, and are way out of line.
And….for a biblical reference…let anyone here who has EVER had unprotected sex without being married be the first to cast stones. Otherwise, your judgments are hypocritical.
*sigh*
As I’ve posted before, this has nothing substantive to do with Bristol. But her mother is a rabid opponent to reproductive rights and that includes avid opposition to contraception and vehement promotion of “Abstinence Only” sex education.
And that apparently is the primary reason the twice-born pressured John S (for Senile) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) to pick her when he really wanted ol’ Joe Lieberman as his running mate but Karl Rove vetoed it.
As much as the RepubliCONs try to twist this issue off on tangents about teenage loose women, the real issue is McC*nt’s judgment.
If you’re in a tight race for the most important job in the world, do you demonstrate your wisdom for leadership by tapping the GILF who doesn’t even know what the job of Vice-President entails?
That’s not leadership. That’s a sit-com premise.

Correct, Jayhawk.
Rush Limbaugh: Chelsea Clinton is the White House dog.
John McCain: Chelsea is ugly because Janet Reno is her father.
John Derbyshire from the hideous National Review: Truth will out, I will be heard. Brace yourself: I hate Chelsea Clinton.
More than anything, I admit, I hate Chelsea because she is a Clinton. Not just genetically a Clinton, but in spirit and habit and manner.
Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past — I’m not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble — recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat. In Stalin’s penal code it was a crime to be the wife or child of an “enemy of the people”. The Nazis used the same principle, which they called Sippenhaft, “clan liability”.

Few outside their home town / state would ever have known anything of this personal situation IF her own Mother hadn’t decided to make it very public. Sarah Palin made this decision and if she is naive enough to think it wouldn’t be made public when she accepted McCain’s offer, she is definitely too naive to hold the office of VP.
“News that Palin, a conservative Christian, is running for the country’s No. 2 office while parenting both an infant son with Down Syndrome and a 17-year-old pregnant daughter has sparked both condemnation and commendation.
Should a 44-year-old mother of five, including a newborn with special needs and a pregnant teenager, take on a job that will keep her away from her home for much of the next two months to eight years?
”
Looks like some of the RWers aren’t too convinced.
Remember how Clinton’s “example” of his affair with Monica meant that parents all over the country despaired of ever teaching their kids right from wrong, according to Rush O’Hannity?
And Sarah Palin’s daughter’s “example” would be different exactly how?
Does it speak to family values when a Mother puts her own ambitions above the country knowing private matters about her underage daughter? Yes, it does! Her ambitions were more important to her than her daughter’s privacy. Extremely poor judgment on her part.
As McCain said, he and Palin are soul mates — they both have greater ambitions than judgment.
Oh, and by the way, while McCain is trying to convince people to vote for him, the media is glued to Palin’s many scandals.
Thank you, John McCain.
People make mistakes. Hopefully they learn from those mistakes. Leave it alone.
Go after Palin for the bridge, that wierd secessionist party in Alaske, etc but leave the daughter out of it.
Of course, I do seem to recall a certain presidential candidate’s tasteless joke about Chelsea Clinton …
“Being a bastard himself, The One is not going to comment on this, only his rabbid followers.”
Righties, you gotta love them.
On one hand they cherish the pregnant teenager’s decision to have the baby. On the other they call the child a bastard!
Admittedly, Chelsea ain’t pretty.
She’s a very attractive young woman.
And, remember those ridiculous claims that Clinton had spoiled the morals of young women, even as young as grade school, because he popularized the b.j.?

Typican wingnut BS.
I could see how the Palin family might have thought this would not have come out; Bristol appears only at the convention, shielded by the youngest; then isn’t involved in any campaign appearances (hey, she’s in school, right) through the election, quietly marrying Levi. Naive, perhaps, given the media feeding frenzy that was sure to follow the announcement of Gov. Palin’s selection. To that extent, someone needed to educate the Governor on how this was going to play.
That said, I for one wish this frenzy over a 17 year old girl who is pregnant “out of wedlock” would cease. To the extent her mother’s positions on the topics pointed out on this thread and elsewhere are antithetical to others, the political points may be made without invoking Bristol as an example. FWIW, I’m leaning towards a belief that this will create a sympathy backlash in favor of the Governor.
Heh, this is what I mean about all fair now. Cons, you lowered the bar. And I WILL go there.
I’m so tired of the dems playing decent while you redefine the rules for the political games.
This is what I meant by Obama- he needs to sling some mud.
I’m a Mother and I know what Mothers do to protect their children.

I just saw some photos of Wasilla, AK, taken by a native Alaskan. It appears to be a typical small town and is obviously supporting its native daughter. Lots of trees, with beautiful mountains in the background. I’m sure it’s inhabitants are proud of it, as they should be.
BTW, Wasilla is big enough to boast a Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and a Lowe’s, or at least that’s what the photographer mentioned he/she left out of the photos. (They must do a lot of building there.)
Course Obama wouldn’t PUNISH his daughters with a baby.
Obama would make sure his daughters get all the abortions they need.
BRINGING HOME THE BACON…. To hear John McCain tell it, one of the biggest problems with the political system in Washington is the way in which the federal government spends money. Special interests hire lobbyists, quietly secure lucrative earmarks, and tax dollars are wasted on pork-barrel projects.
The problem, though, is that McCain’s running mate has hired lobbyists to quietly secure lucrative earmarks, receiving millions of tax dollars on pork-barrel projects.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor, according to an analysis by an independent government watchdog group.
There was $500,000 for a youth shelter, $1.9 million for a transportation hub, $900,000 for sewer repairs, and $15 million for a rail project — all intended to benefit Palin’s town, Wasilla, located about 45 miles north of Anchorage.

“And, remember those ridiculous claims that Clinton had spoiled the morals of young women, even as young as grade school, because he popularized the b.j.?”
Who said they were ridiculous? “I don’t want my child punished with a baby” Obama?
Palin’s small town secured big federal funds
Palin has also railed against earmarks, touting her opposition to a $223 million bridge in the state as a prime credential for the vice presidential nomination. “As governor, I’ve stood up to the old politics-as-usual, to the special interests, to the lobbyists, the big oil companies, and the good-ol’-boy network,” she said Friday.
As mayor of Wasilla, however, Palin oversaw the hiring of Robertson, Monagle & Eastaugh, an Anchorage-based law firm with close ties to Alaska’s most senior Republicans: Rep. Don Young and Sen. Ted Stevens, who was indicted in July on charges of accepting illegal gifts. The Wasilla account was handled by the former chief of staff to Stevens, Steven W. Silver, who is a partner in the firm.
Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla in 1996 on a campaign theme of “a time for change.” According to a review of congressional spending by Taxpayers for Common Sense, a nonpartisan watchdog group in Washington, Wasilla did not receive any federal earmarks in the first few years of Palin’s tenure.
Senate records show that Silver’s firm began working for Palin in early 2000, just as federal money began flowing.
In fiscal 2000, Wasilla received a $1 million earmark, tucked into a transportation appropriations bill, for a rail and bus project in the town. And in the winter of 2000, Palin appeared before congressional appropriations committees to seek earmarks, according to a report in the Anchorage Daily News.
Palin and the Wasilla City Council increased Silver’s fee from $24,000 to $36,000 a year by 2001, Senate records show.

You can call me a “lib” if you choose. I get called a heckuva lot worse every day.
This whole thing makes me sick.
How about a little compassion for a 17-year-old girl who had something happen to her she likely never anticipated?
I’ve worked with too many teenage girls over the last 35 years to feel anything but compassion for Bristol Palin.
Thank God she at least has a guy who’s willing to own up with her. Doesn’t happen very often any more.
I lived in Herington back in 1980, when that small Kansas town led the nation in per capita teenage pregnancy. It was a shock… IIRC, it was like all but one or two girls in a whole class at the high school were pregnant.
We need to get past the whole abortion v. abstinence thing and get to the root cause of the problem–a society that tells young people, especially young women, that they are nothing without a person of the opposite sex in their lives, and that must be attained at all costs… just to be considered “normal”.
Until we deal with the issue of self-esteem in young women, we will never be able to deal effectively with the issues of teenage sex, preganancy or abortion.
I, for one, wish we could take this as an opportunity to reach across the aisle and work for real solutions.
But hey, it’s an election year.

Come on Eagle do some fair reporting.
How many abortions has “I’m not proud of my country Michele Obama” had?
MrC – I would add another factor that I have seen: girls deliberately getting pregnant because they believe the baby will love them without reservation. Makes me wonder just what else is missing from their lives.
Come an Kandisue – I’m sure you can make up an imaginary answer to that and then swear it is true.

Thank you.
MrC – well said.
So Sarah thinks it’s just keen to get on a 12 hour flight from Texas to Alaska after her water breaks, then land in Anchorage to take a road trip to Wasilla to give birth in a hospital which never recorded Sarah giving birth.
Never mind if her story is true that such an act is of a woman who acts like she wants to give a miscarriage. She never told anyone on the Alaska Airlines flight she was in labor (and willing to put other passengers through a possible emergency landing). And why the road trip? Anchorage has top notch facilities for premie births.
I suppose Sarah thinks lying is a family value as well.

BULLSH**.
The only hypocricy here is on the left. NO ONE is “for” unwed pregnancy; the only differences between the sides are relatively minor ones over the best way to prevent same.
And neither “side” has a claim to moral perfection, nor claims same.
No, what has the left’s panties in a wad is that a woman is daring to make HER choices; apparantly, both mom and daughter. And they are not the choices that a good feminist “should” make.
When a “feminist” chooses to advance career and childrearing, they should be supported. Fair enough. Here, however, a conservative woman (and there’s more of those than our resident self-described “feminists” would like to admit) has chosen to do the same. And it has our hypocritical “feminists” all up in arms.
How dare she!!!
Moreover, a young girl has gotten pregnant out of wedlock despite her parents’ best attempts to instill good choices (well gosh, that never happens!). Criminee, if you have a perfect and foolproof child-rearing plan, please publish same and enlighten us, oh most wise ones!
Yeesh.
There’s no principle at work here. This is all about politics masquarading as principle. It’s in the left’s political interests (or at least, it suits the lowest intstincts of the Kos/DU moonbats) to trash Palin, and her daughter. So they will. Case closed.
MH and Capn railing about “hypocricy” is rich. They ought to know it best, having practiced it so much.
BTW – go ahead and beat up on a 17 year old girl. Yea, that’s a great political strategy . . .
Oh, P-mom: Please don’t insult my intelligence by imagining that the Dems have ever “played nice.” They haven’t. There’s plenty of mud on both sides; always has been.

Ok, technically that’s not T W O attacks on Sarah Palin today.

O N E attack on Bristol Palin.
I stand corrected.
“mrcontroversy” –
It’s not about Bristol Palin. The only people who’ve attacked Bristol Palin are CONs such as “MaxGrobnik” who throw her out as a straw man distraction from the real issue at hand.
Anybody, of any political persuasion, should be able to figure out if you’re gonna reach down into the ranks of small-town mayors and neophyte small-state governors as your selection for the second-best person in America to lead the free world should have done his homework first.
John S (for Senile) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) simply didn’t base his Vice-Presidential pick on anything but his gut. The GILF is cute. She’s pert. She’s got a little Sally Field action going. And Karl Rove wouldn’t let McC*nt pick his first love — Joe Lieberman — as a running mate.
All of the stuff swirling the GILF around the political toilet is more-or-less trivia. But that McShrub didn’t see this coming, didn’t bother to find out or even ask some questions (or, if the GILF misled him and told the campaign there were no skeletons in her political closet), speaks volumes about how McSame’s mind works and how he makes critical decisions.
In one swell foop it points out that the Li’l Admiral’s vaunted “experience” doesn’t seem to result in good decisions.
“MrC – I would add another factor that I have seen: girls deliberately getting pregnant because they believe the baby will love them without reservation.”
That may be in play here.
Older brother is probably the star child of the family. Mom and Dad are busy doing their own things.
Maybe a desperate plea for attention?
Yeah, I’m sure that if we were talking about the family of a liberal Democrat politician, Dobson and company wouldn’t be ranting that this sort of sexual irresponsibility is just what you should expect from the immorality of the Liberal worldview.
Sure they wouldn’t.
Mr. C – Awesome post. You hit the nail on the head.
GMC–
I’ll let this professional writer say it again for you:
What’s galling is this: When the subject is a pregnancy to an unwed, minority teenage mother growing up in some (presumably Democratic) urban area, that pregnancy becomes fodder for lectures from conservatives about bad parenting, the perils of welfare spending and so on. But when the subject is a pregnancy to an unwed, white teenager from some small town in a Republican state, that pregnancy is…a celebration of the wonders of God’s magnificence–and choosing life!

Well, I guess since Bristol Palin is going to marry her baby daddy that makes it “all better.” I say, why compound one mistake with another?
Amazing how the liberal media attack the conservatives over something that they would support their liberal politicians on. What hypocrites.
It is so obvious why the libs don’t get it. Here is a 17 year old that may have made a bad decision but she is willing to take responsibility for her own actionsf. And what is really ironic, is here is a mother who is willing to support her daughter in raising her child. Now that is a candidate who “teaches what she preaches.”
Believe it or not, but when the media attack a 17 year old child, they are the ones who are going to look bad. How low can they go?! No one has ever attacked one of the children of a candidate before. It just goes to show you how desperate the left are.
I think they have realized that they have failed. First, they picked Obama over Hillary. Even tho the conservatives disliked her more, they know that they would have had a better chance with Hillary. Then they chose Biden over Hillary. Bad choice again.
But what it comes down to, is that McCain was already too far to the left for most conservative republicans. About the only thing saving him was his stand on abortion. Then he chose Palin, who is all about what the conservative base wants. Then immediately the media tell us about her daughter who is pregnant and then they further tell us how her and her family have decided to keep the baby and raise it. Get it? It is the greatest example to show your constituents that you really say what you mean.
Mr.C.–
I basically concur.
But I’m guessing that all those knocked-up girls in Herington didn’t have low self-esteem.
They also didn’t know how to put on a condom or take birth control pills.
The proof is (Godless) Europe. They have comprehensive science-based sex ed and access to contraception. We have faith-based abstinence only BS and make contraception difficult for teenagers to get.
Result–our girls get pregnant ten times as much as Europe’s.

No, they have legal prostitution in a lot of countries in Europe.
It has nothing to do with sex education.
Hey, Borg?
Checked the polls lately?
Hehehehe, resistance is futile.
“Kandisue” elevates the discussion with –
“How many abortions has “I’m not proud of my country Michele Obama” had?”
I hope the rest of you CONs have the common decency to have cringed when you read that from one of your cohorts.
I’ve been posting off-and-on most of the day on the issue — that it’s not about the GILF or her daughter, but about the decision-making of John S (for Senile) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term).
But the CONs keep coming back trying to exploit Bristol Palin and attack Democrats for it.
And in a desperate act of pull-it-out-of-your-ass desperation, “Kandisue” conjures up, “How many abortions has “I’m not proud of my country Michele Obama” had?”
How proud you CONs must be of your fellow-travelers.
Please do NOT discuss EXPERIENCE on the WE Blog.
Experience is overrated.
HELP WANTED. PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. No Experience Required, Will Train.
How could John Edwards use the word “lesbian” on TV in front of poor, old Dick Cheney?
It’s the same deal, MH. We’ve seen it a million times.
The right-wing demonizes homosexuality. Then when a Lib says, “what about Mary Cheney?” they scream themselves hoarse about “scurrilous attacks on homosexuality!” and “keep the kids out of it!”
Unbelievable.
The Libs answer:
“Just Kill It!”
Max, being a true CON, wants someone with experience in government so that he might destroy government.

Hey, Borg?
Checked the polls lately?
Hehehehe, resistance is futile.
———————-
I wonder how many were polled in the South during Hurricane Gustav?
Oh yeah, polls are mainly done in Liberal populated areas.
Some realism huh?
That’s not how I see it, MH.
Does anybody care what this young lady must be thinking right now?
Can anyone imagine the depth of guilt she must feel, with her mother in this kind of a spotlight, and a likely unintended action on her part detracting from it? And that her unintended consequence is now calling into question the integrity of her mother… and the judgement of leader of her mother’s party?
At this moment, she probably feels not just the weight of the whole world, but probably the whole galaxy, on her shoulders. What a horrible, empty feeling that must be.
I’ve met more than my share of young women who have befallen the same fate. It can get worse… the “father” can deny the baby; he can say he wants the kid, but doesn’t want her; the parents can throw her out in the street. At least, unlike a lot of third world countries, she won’t be permanently consigned to a life as a sex worker.
There are probably some other issues here, but I don’t think any of them are as immediate as the pysche of a girl who has made a life-altering unintended error.
I really wish we all would give this a rest for a few days.
From the National Enquirer (No, I’ve never visit their website. I don’t even bother to read the headlines while standing in line at the grocery story, but I thought this was amusing. True? Well, it IS the Enquirer…)
The ultra-conservative governor’s announcement about her daughter’s pregnancy came hours after The ENQUIRER informed her representatives and family members of Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol’s child, that we were aware of the pregnancy and were going to break the news.
In a preemptive strike Palin released the news, creating political shockwaves.

” the GILF”
Yea, MH, Kandisue’s stupid comment was out of line. True enough.
But just how do you point that out while using the acronym you use?
Naw, no hypocricy there . . . .
Please don’t pretend there’s any principle invovled here; there’s not. Your trashing of “the GILF” (your term, not mine), and her daughter, is pure politics, nothing else.
And let’s not pretend that choosing a VP is about getting the “most qualified” person, either. It’s not. Not for McCain, not for Obama. It’s about getting elected. Period.
Mr.C –
I hear you. But you don’t really think the left will do so when there is political hay to be made, do you?
the “father” can deny the baby; he can say he wants the kid, but doesn’t want her; the parents can throw her out in the street.
Thank goodness this isn’t happening in Bristol and Levi’s case!
Photos on Levi Johnston’s sister’s MySpace pretty much wipe out the idea that Levi might deny the baby. Little sis is calling Trig Palin her baby brother, Sarah her mom-in-law, and the Palin daughters her sister-in-law. (Hey, you know how teenagers are.)
No sense trying to locate the MySpace or Levi’s either. They’ve both been locked to uninvited visitors. But yes, I have seen the pics.
My late grandmother, who was born in the Victorian Era, used to refer to this type of behavior by an unmarried girl as “Living in sin.”
I wonder why the UltraCons, like Dobson, don’t still use this term? Certainly it would appeal to the so-called “Christian Right.”
Some of the pics are available elsewhere on various blogs, Pre; and yes, both Levi’s and his sister’s pages have been locked to uninvited visitors, as I found out trying to see if the allegation made in an article I read earlier that the page contained the statement that Levi “wants a relationship but not children” was true, and to see if he really was as foul-mouthed as a quote apparently taken from the same made him appear.
Free Speech? Or no Free Speech? (Watch out, Regular!)
John McCain has made clear that he doesn’t like the blogosphere.
Now he has introduced legislation that would treat blogs like Internet service providers and hold them responsible for all activity in the comments sections and user profiles. Some highlights of the legislation:
– Commercial websites and personal blogs “would be required to report illegal images or videos posted by their users or pay fines of up to $300,000.”
– Internet service providers (ISPs) are already required to issue such reports, but under McCain’s legislation, bloggers with comment sections may face “even stiffer penalties” than ISPs.
— Social networking sites will be forced to take “effective measures” — such as deleting user profiles — to remove any website that is “associated” with a sex offender. Sites may include not only Facebook and MySpace, but also Amazon.com, which permits author profiles and personal lists, and blogs like DailyKos, which allows users to sign up for personal diaries.

On the pinhead front, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. The sister of Britney says she is shocked. I bet.
Now most teens are pinheads in some ways. But here the blame falls primarily on the parents of the girl, who obviously have little control over her or even over Britney Spears. Look at the way she behaves.- Bill O’Reilly.
Oh we know how the right reacts.
“mrcontroversy” –
The GILF herself issued the press release yesterday about Bristol’s pregnancy.
That was an upshot of small-town gossip from Wasilla and Juneau and a lot of people wondering why a woman 8 months pregnant would fly from Texas to Alaska after he water broke.
Decision-making is at the core of all these threads.
Part of the GILF’s redeeming qualities — according to the CONs — is her role as poster-girl for illegal abortion and against anything beyond Abstinence-Only sex education. That the natural consequences of the Snow Bunny’s ideology, her 17-year-old daughter did (as the CONs have reminded us all day) what teenagers tend to do.
I know a lot of mothers of daughters. The vast majority of them have tried to tell their girls their lives will probably be better if they refrain from sex outside of marriage. But to a one, they’ve also said, “If it comes to that, PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS!”
That apparently wasn’t an option the GILF offered to her daughter. And that’s a pity.
But what’s worse, that’s why John S (for Senile) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) chose her without adequate vetting of Palin’s record and history.
Yeah, McBush has experience. Experience making bad decisions.
Four More Years!
http://www.nypost.com/seven/09012008/news/nationalnews/palin_admits_her_17_year_old_daughter_is_127025.htm is the article containing the alleged quotes I was attempting to verify.
If true, I fear the marriage will not be long lived.
Oh God. Now I have to go actually BUY a National Enquirer.
Did I just say that?
God, now we’re worried about the Marriage of Bristol Palin not lasting!
You Libs are pathetic. Nuthin short of killing the baby is acceptable to you.
TBH- its the hypocrisy. That is what it is all about.
Sounds like they have a winner:
“On his MySpace page, Johnston boasts, “I’m a f – - -in’ redneck” who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.
“But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- – - and just f – - -in’ chillin’ I guess.”
“Ya f – - – with me I’ll kick [your] ass,” he added.
He also claims to be “in a relationship,” but states, “I don’t want kids.” “
Nope, Max, just an observation based upon the alleged comments of the young man coupled with the experience one gains from seeing how long most “shotgun” weddings do last; nothing more.
If the father, as quoted said “I’m in a relationship, right now, but don’t want kids.” What kind of Grandparents would be pushing for a shotgun wedding?
Sounds like they are just making a bad situation worse.

Karma can be a bitch …
If Sarah Palin had worried as much as Mr. C about her daughter we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Mothers sacrifice for their children every minute of every day. Those who don’t allow ambitions to mean more than their children.
Oh God. Now I have to go actually BUY a National Enquirer.

My thoughts, exactly, P_mama. LOL
The pool is open on guesses how long Sarah Palin remains the VP nominee.
I give her a week.

I don’t think McCian will change his mind about his VP pick…that would mean he’d have to admitt he made a mistake and he’s as stubborn as Bush. The only way it will change is if she chooses to step down.

Gambling, from the guy who can’t afford health insurance….
A Vice Presidential nominee’s job in a campaign is to be the attack dog.
Sarah Palin is one, big, expanding target.
Lost in the soap opera of her family is the ALSO evolving troopergate.
She cannot be an effective attack dog constantly defending herself.
She’s done.
I wonder if Bristol will wear white?
So do you think she’s a good pick, Max?
Ya think they will video tape the wedding?
Will she be able to get married in the Church?
Will she alope?
TUNE IN TO MAIN STREET MEDIA for the LATEST UPDATES OF THE “”NEWS”"!!!!!
Sarah or Bristol?
Off course she’ll wear white…hypocrisy is what being a fundamentalist, right wing, Republican is all about.
Palin is inexperienced, and I HOPE the Dems make a big deal out of that! It only serves to highlight how inexperienced Obama is! “You want to talk experience, I’ll talk to ya about experience!”
And Sarah should be THE choice for some of the disgruntled Hillary feminists, though her pro-life stand will turn some away. Her pro-oil Drill Here Drill Now position should help strike at the nerve of some moderates and some Dems as well.
Also, Sarah has the following credentials:
1. 2nd Place in the Miss Alaska beauty contest.
2. A woman.
3. A hunter.
4. 2nd Place in the Miss Alaska beauty contest.
5. A fisherman.
6. NRA Life Member – she believes in the 2nd Amendment!
7. 2nd Place in the Miss Alaska beauty contest.
8. Governor of Alaska. (Nice title, almost as good as “Community Organizer” and “Senator”)
9. Pro-life.
10. 2nd Place in the Miss Alaska beauty contest.
11. Conservative on her RECORD.
12. Fresh.
13. Young.
14. Clean.
15. Articulate.
16. 2nd Place in the Miss Alaska beauty contest.

Thanks for the links, VT, but the photos I was referring to are photos of Levi’s sister, Sarah, Bristol, Willow, and Trig together.
Bloggers had infuriated the McCain campaign over the weekend after airing rumors that Palin’s 4-month-old son was actually her daughter’s baby.
McCain campaign officials said Bristol’s pregnancy was made public in order to counter what one aide called “mudslinging” that has circulated on blogs like Daily Kos.
The first paragraph isn’t completely factual. That was the original “rumor” that sent bloggers searching for information. By late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, it was pretty much determined on another blog (I never did get back to DK) that Bristol was pregnant. That was at least a day before the official announcement was made.
As for the “mudslinging”, well, yeah, there was some, but most of it was more digging for facts. There was a lot of conjecture, but that happens when the facts aren’t presented when they should be known, instead of after the fact.
BTW, Meghan McCain has her own blog, with photos from the campaign trail. From those, it was pretty clear that Bristol was expecting, which is why I’m surprised this wasn’t announced from the beginning. They could have saved themselves a lot of trouble and “rumors” by being upfront about it. Funny thing was, photos were disappearing from many “official” websites as fast as a person can blink.
The original DK blog posts are gone, probably removed by DK admin.
And for those interested, here’s Meghan McCain’s blog. She’s a cute girl. I don’t know how old she is, but she seems to be enjoying herself.
http://www.mccainblogette.com/photos/
And Sarah should be THE choice for some of the disgruntled Hillary feminists, though her pro-life stand will turn some away.
“Some” is stretching it. Hillary backers are not happy with Sarah’s earlier comment about Hillary’s “whining”. Now she’s trying to make nice. Too little, too late? We’ll see.
Frankly, I expect it will shore up McCain’s numbers a little. But will it be enough?
I can see the Natl. Enq. headline tomorrow “It was Johnston, or the Hockey team!”
If I were Johnston, I wouldn’t be talking either, unless it was to an atty. requesting dna testing.
I wonder if Obama’s kids are his?
Did Biden have any children who he didn’t kill?
Was the release really an effective counter to the question of whether Sarah was really pregnant? From what little I know, pregnancies are at best estimates of conception, born out by delivery time.
Why didn’t she just release a birth certificate and leave her daughter out of it. By the time anyone knew her daughter was p.g.(if she kept her out os sight, the election would’ve been over.
The truth will out all.

Comrade
Let’s just talk about the 17 year old daughter and the fact that she doesn’t want to kill her baby and hide it like a good democrat.
Ok so let’s find out if Michele who supports abortion had one. If you support it why be ashamed to let the world know if you had one?
Where are they reporters on this? Maybe the NY Times could run 3 front page stories on it.
Why the offense at asking about baby killing? I mean is this not something that seperates Democrats from Republicans?
Or is it maybe if the truth be known alot of people might be horrified?
Cheers
Because the birth certificate may actually be fraudulent as well?
Why would Hillary feminists go with the anti-Hillary? Do you think women just vote for women just cause? Even if they stand on polar opposite platforms?

Listen here “kandisue”, women don’t just choose an abortion because its an afternoon of fun and frolick with the good Dr.
They do it for very serious reasons. They take it seriously. For you to make light of it as if they’re just walking down to the ice cream store is hateful and cruel.
Jamie Lynn is a prime example of how she and her mother were utterly shredded by the right when she announced her pregnancy. That is one reason why women get abortions. I’m glad Bristol didn’t opt for an abortion. But her family deserves the same mean spirited discussion that they would have so graciously thrust upon others in the same situation. That’s what good right wingers do.

VT,
I meant to tell you that, unfortunately, Levi sounds like a typical 19-year-old. :(
Personally, I preferred Chris, who LOVES Bristol with all his heart.
The last thing I give a s**t about this election is some minor having a kid, regardless of political persuasion. There are morons on both sides wasting what little brain cells they have left, calling each other hypocrites.

Levi Johnston to join Palin family at convention
WASILLA, Alaska – The boyfriend of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s unwed, pregnant daughter will join the family of the Republican vice presidential candidate at the GOP convention in St. Paul, Minn.
Levi Johnston’s mother said her 18-year-old son left Alaska on Tuesday morning to join the Palin family at the convention where Sen. John McCain will officially receive the Republican nomination for president. The boy’s mother, Sherry Johnston, said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.
“This is just a bonus,” Johnston said.
The young man’s presence could set off a media frenzy around the young couple as photographers and cameramen scramble for pictures of the two teenagers. On Monday, Palin and her husband, Todd, said their 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, planned to have the baby and wed a young man identified only as Levi. The family asked the media to respect the young couple’s privacy as has been the tradition with children of candidates.
Sarah Palin is scheduled to address the convention Wednesday night and traditionally her family would join her at the conclusion of her speech.
Sherry Johnston said she was worried about her son dealing with all the attention. She said it was difficult enough for teenagers to deal with any pregnancy, having the entire nation watching made it worse.
Levi Johnston, a high school hockey player for Wasilla High School, is not listed on the team roster for 2008-2009, and his mother wouldn’t say if he graduated. She said simply he’s no longer a student and any further information would have to come from him.
The intense media scrutiny has stunned this suburban community about 40 miles north of Anchorage, with reporters camping out near the Johnston home.
“This is out of my league,” Sherry Johnston said. “I’m just a country gal and I want to keep it that way.”
She spoke Tuesday while standing in the driveway leading to her pale gray, two-story home situated on a densely wooded country lane. The home, like many in Alaska is adorned with moose and caribou antlers outside.
Many social conservatives have rallied behind Gov. Palin and her family’s troubles. The McCain campaign has said the Palins are like any other American family and that “life happens.”
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said that Palin’s family and her daughter’s pregnancy were not relevant to her potential performance as vice president. “I think people’s families are off limits,” Obama said. “And people’s children are especially off limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics.”
Just days after she was picked as McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin has become a lightening rod for attention. Aside from her daughter’s pregnancy, it was disclosed that a private attorney has been retained for her in a legislative ethics investigation for her dismissal of Alaska’s public safety commissioner. It also was disclosed that Palin’s husband had been arrested on a drunken-driving charge two decades ago.

This is my favorite from the above article.
The family asked the media to respect the young couple’s privacy as has been the tradition with children of candidates.
Uh huh.
As for Todd’s DUI, oh, come on! Two decades ago? He was probably in his 20’s. And as they say about Alaska and those looooooong nights, there’s not a whole lot to do except drink and…um, uh…cuddle. :)

JM & Max agree for the very first time.
“The evil left started it – but they cry like babies when a little of it is fed to them.”
Sure – with the Chelsea/Reno joke?
Attacking Bristol and Levi? Hardly. Attacking Sarah Palin’s dishonesty and hypocrisy? Yup, guilty as charged. The Republicans were all over Chelsea Clinton simply for being seen with her boyfriend at a baseball game. Nah, going after kids is still the domain of the Republicans.

Probably similar to how I would react to John McCain’s joke or Limbaugh’s joke or the attacks on Al Gore’s son.
Chelsea was 13 and Rush Limbaugh referred to her as the “white house dog”.
Meanwhile – how about some more McCain family values:
“1976 he became commanding officer of a training squadron stationed in Florida.[53][56] He turned around an undistinguished unit and won the squadron its first Meritorious Unit Commendation.[54] During this period in Florida, McCain had extramarital affairs, and the McCains’ marriage began to falter,
In April 1979,[54] McCain met Cindy Lou Hensley, a teacher from Phoenix, Arizona, whose father had founded a large beer distributorship.[58] They began dating, and he urged his wife Carol to grant him a divorce, which she did in February 1980″

A Vice Presidential nominee’s job in a campaign is to be the attack dog.
Sarah Palin is one, big, expanding target.
Lost in the soap opera of her family is the ALSO evolving troopergate.
She cannot be an effective attack dog constantly defending herself.
She’s done.
——————
If Bill Clinton could survive his own troopergate, a rape allegation, sexual harrassment charges, a long time mistress exposing him – and he was running for prez. She is only running for VP which many on the left seem to be missing.
Even Obama is saying:
“In an interview on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 Monday night, Obama was asked about whether his experience in the U.S. Senate dealing with weather-related situations compares to Palin’s executive experience running the state of Alaska and as the small town mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.
“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We’ve got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month,” Obama responded.
Our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the past couple of years and certainly in terms of the legislation I’ve passed in the past couple of years, post-Katrina.”
He seems to think he is running for the VP too. Could someone clue him in that he is running for the big office.
You know Ben it’s ironic that the left is more outraged about his first wife than she is. I have heard her talk and she said they grew apart. He wanted to be 25 and not 44. He took good care of her and his family financially. They have remained friendly. Maybe it is time the left got over it and moved on. The McCains seem to have done this.
Boy, is there some cluelessness here, and I must say most of it, on this topic, is coming from some leftward posters, including some people who, while often snarky, often post quite intelligently.
Anyone who thinks that the Palin family situtation being in the news is a result of McCain not adequately vetting his VP candidate is just not getting it. Monkeyhawk, that means you.
This was a perfect setup.
The conservative Christians are happy because Sarah Palin’s daughter is making the “right” choice, even if she first made the “wrong” choice. That resonates with a lot of social conservatives who see the Palins as living their values even through times of adversity. Probably, Sarah Palin was more than aware that this would come up, and sees this as a way to connect with her base, many of whom have probably lived through similar situations (some of the most stridently “pro-life” activists I have known have included people, including women, with teenage mothers for daughters).
And this is also a situation that a lot of people (most who have raised teenagers in fact) can sympathize with. Those who think this is an opportunity to get back at the right for their borish behavior towards their candidates or people in similar situations don’t seem to get the point. When the right shows their fangs (e.g., the personal insults directed towards Chelsea or even Hillary Clinton) it didn’t work, because it made them look petty and mean. It backfired on them. It even backfired on them with the whole Monica Lewinsky mess, and that was a less sympathetic situation. And make no mistake, the danger of trying to make a big issue of this to use against Palin will backfire on those who try it. Those who want to point to the hypocrisy of the right don’t get it. It’s not an excuse, no one cares. It’s when the right takes the low blow shot that they do harm to themselves. Not when they get hit. Not on something like this.
All that being said, while I agree with Mr. C. that we need to remember that the center of this frenzy is a 17 year old girl, let’s keep in mind that the campaign seems to be actually putting her out into the spotlight. I now understand that the father is coming to the convention. I think the family needs to think long and hard about putting this girl out like it appears like they may want to do. It’s one thing not to hide it, it is another thing to wallow in it. This is still a child here, and respecting her privacy is not something that is just the responsibility of “the media”.
Valid point okob. Just like the right was so much more incensed about Clinton’s blowjob than his wife was. And we STILL hear about that from the right.
Like McCain’s and Limbaugh’s HATEFUL jokes about Chelsea when she was 13 are OK but when anything REMOTELY similar is returned the right whines.
Like I noted to MrC – I tend to agree that we should not in this arena. But too much mus slung by the likes of Rush and McCain have led to this. Yep, Karma can really be a bitch.
Agnatha, I disagree. I enjoy rubbing their evil little noses in doing unto others as they have done unto.
How many of you who say ‘leave it alone’ now were part of the ‘family values voters’ crowd in the past two elections?
Show of hands? Anyone gonna fess up?
Because we already know who you are.
Agnatha, the jawless fish, again offers another asinine ending to a reasonable beginning.
“I think the family needs to think long and hard about putting this girl out like it appears like they may want to do. It’s one thing not to hide it, it is another thing to wallow in it. This is still a child here, and respecting her privacy is not something that is just the responsibility of “the media”.”
But it is the media that is making a situation out of it….more specifically it is the damn Dems that are doing so.
This family is doing the what they feel is right after a bunch of jackals group to attack.

Dems love attacking 17 year old kids of Republican candidates.
Crucify her!
Say Pmom, you were punished with a baby weren’t you!
Is she an ugly btich just like you?
Melt down much Max?
Save it. Store it up for when we REALLY vet Sarah Palin and her modern stone age family.
No JR, not melting or even close.
Just wondering if PMom likes it when her daughter is personally attacked.
Pmom has no problem dishing it out.
Oh Max, you hurt my fweewings.

Palin’s family should not be discussed by the news media. If I was running for an office my private family life would be none of your darn business. Should we talk about Biden son’s problems or Obama’s Muslim brother here.
Drinking, kids, and guns…that says responsible and smart to me!
We know how you CONs play it, Max.
When the girl is poor and urban (and unmarried and pregnant), then she’s the result of permissive liberalism and the welfare state.
When the girl is the very white daughter of a prosperous Republican Governor, why then “it’s a celebration of life” don’t you know.
Mein Gott in Himmel! The hypocrisy is physically crippling.
“Palin’s family should not be discussed by the news media.”
I’m sorry george, I am afraid you missed it.
The McCain/Palin campaign released the facts on the Palin family to the media.
Well, the ones they knew anyway.
Source: Washington Post
ST. PAUL — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live.
After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation — “SP” — Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.
According to Passage House’s web site, its purpose is to provide “young mothers a place to live with their babies for up to eighteen months while they gain the necessary skills and resources to change their lives” and help teen moms “become productive, successful, independent adults who create and provide a stable environment for themselves and their families.”
—–
Earlier today the Associated Press reported that Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, opposed funding to prevent teen pregnancies, a position that Palin also took as governor. “The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support,” she wrote in a 2006 questionnaire distributed among gubernatorial candidates.
President Palin.
Think about how stupid that is.
PMom, is that for real? That iReport?
Yes.
I just read this article about Obama mother’s. Looks like she was 3 months pregnant before she Married Obama’s father. Explain that one finger pointing libs & dems.

Pmom do you know a doctored photo when you see one? Where is the proof that this wasn’t photoshopped? Who are the kids in these pictures?
A lot of questions. Before posting them as truth you should verify that they are. You seem to have a problem with proving things. Such as the statement you profess that McCain made but there is no proof.
P_Mom–
This is on video?! Serving booze to kids?!
She is so dead . . .
Linda,
I’d seen the drinking pix before. They were in the mix that was on “Sadie’s” MySpace. It was nice of someone to put them together in a video. :)

oko,
I think I just answered your question. Posted on MySpace by Levi’s sister.
Well, george, as I pointed out earlier, Todd and Sarah Palin had an “early” baby, too, after eloping.
I really don’t understand. Honestly. Why is she still in office — any office? Adults go to jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Hilarious.
The song that popped into my mind perfectly describing all these liberal democratic bitches here on the we blog is “Harper Valley PTA.”
I call them bitches, because that’s exactly what they are behaving as.
Yeah I know a doctored photo, I can doctor them quite nicely. Those are not doctored.
I guess you find them to be just as damning huh Granny?
Just so you know, I’ve got plenty of good party teen pics when I was a teen too. But my mother wasn’t IN THEM nor were they at HER HOUSE.
I just want to get the whole family values crowd to know what family values they’re getting. Consider it a service to the god crowd.
I can’t get any iReports now. I get page errors. Is it me? PMom, your link no longer works (for me). Does it for you?
Here you go bitches.

Bill O’Reilly was saying today that if one more distraction comes up for Palin she becomes a liability to the ticket.
Seems like there are about 5 distractions working and more coming to light all the time.
Buh bye Sarah.

This has been a life long endeavor for the both of you. Aren’t your ‘thangs’ worn out and dragging the floor by now?
Linda, whenever something like that comes out, the republicans like to flood the site and crash it.
My guess is cramming. She can’t deliver the same speech at the convention she has already given twice. She has to know some facts, a few, more than she knows now. Since she and McCain appeared in Mississippi I haven’t seen her interviewed or even pictured. I just guessed she was cramming big time!
I’m feeling mightily smug Regular I agree. Lets see how many put downs of the sort you’ve hit our side with. Nope, not feeling bad about it. But you are, aren’t ya.

What DOES Sarah have questions about now?
Trooopergate?
Nutcase religion gate?
Daughtergate?
Traitorgate?
Just handing back to the blog sluts what they are handing out.
Apparently the photo of Palin with the gun is fake. Now the others with the girl drinking have come into question.
I really don’t know who keeps putting fake stories out there, perhaps to distract or make us look dumb for passing them on.
Could it be republicans putting these stories out to hurt democrats who lap them up?

They are whoring out their sensible behavior for political motives and ideology with false accusations and stuff they cannot or could never prove to be true.
Instead of selling their bodies they are selling their reputations.
It is no different.
They are ideological sluts.

Aside from the ideological whore Franklin aka Econ 101 aka Paul who do you imagine has a lower reputation here than you James?
Multi-nic’d Regular,
Have you FOUND those non-existent Justice Dept. and Congressional links re the Sierra Club and the New Orleans levees yet?
Maybe you should add a bogus, fictional paragraph to a copy/paste post again, to prove your “ideology”?

No you justify the things you do because of your inadequacies and unfulfilled life.
For the first time in your life, you can use a political ideology to supplement your shortcomings. It makes you feel good. You will get that feeling if you cheer lead the taunts and the mocking of others that you would never do in real life.
You will use your new ideological position as one to gain you popularity in a limited crowd here at the WE Blog, not realizing that 250,000,000 other Americans could give a crap what you do and could care less who you are.
You are selling your soul to indulge in the delusional induced mindless as a substitute for proper judgment and fair evaluation.
You are mixing up behavior of a mature woman with that of a school yard bully.
You are thinking that a rating for you on this blog is something to be admired.
You premise the future by digging up deceit and selling it as political elixir.
You will turn old one day and wonder what happened and where everyone went. Those who you could have treated decently, you turned your back on and blamed them for your shortcomings.
When your hand trembles and your eyes fails you, you’ll look around for someone to care, someone to lead you. Don’t look around here with your fellow ideologues. They won’t be there for you.
Of course, when you ask for help, you will do so with a bitter tenor to your voice, because you trained yourself to speak that way. You will be served last. You will be served least. You will know that you caused this harm to yourself and further anguish your remaining moments on this planet.
Only then will you realize that you have managed to put yourself truly alone and the only hope is left abandoned in your past.

Jesus, you really don’t get it do you? Do you want to “get back” at the right, or do you want to win? You can’t do both (and you and Bluejay are deluded if you really think that you can). Where is Phill Kline now? Where are the wacko KS School Board members who were sent packing (even though it looks like a Christian Right individual might sneak back into the Board this election, mark my words, if they cause too much trouble again, there will be yet another purge, electorally speaking). When the right goes on the attack, it comes back to bite them. The 2006 election was not just about the Iraq War, it was about the excesses of the right, particularly Christian Right coalition conservatives, irritating the foul weather voters. And that danger still exists for the Republicans in 2008.
But, if the Democrats were to give into their urges for payback, like you did in this thread (that picture, come ON, wait for confirmation from established, respected sources before passing crap like that on), then the foul weather voters will simply decide “well, a pox on BOTH their houses”, and they will either not vote, or vote the same way that they voted in previous elections.
You should know that the McCain Campaign understands this. Why else do you think that Brownback was PULLED from giving the introduction speech for Palin. Because when you are talking with Boxlock or Borghunter or Chris or even okobserver, you are talking to the republicans that the Party as a whole knows is a liability in this election. When the McCain selected Palin, I wondered if he had made a blunder (making a grab for disgruntled Hillary supporters with a Christian Right female whose “maverick” status comes from the sort of things pretty much all western governors (Republican or Democrat) do. But the revelation about Palin’s daughter couldn’t have worked better for the McCain campaign if it had been scripted that way.
And then there was Boxlock’s truly clueless rejoinder to my post:
“But it is the media that is making a situation out of it….more specifically it is the damn Dems that are doing so.
“This family is doing the what they feel is right after a bunch of jackals group to attack.”
Uhm, OK. If my beginning was “reasonable” but my conclusion was “asinine”, it was clear that you didn’t understand the beginning of my post.
The media loves scandal because scandal sells (and it is truly bipartisan in its love of scandal, by the way). The idea that the Palins or the McCain campaign didn’t anticipate what would happen is simply ludicrous. Therefore, the claim that they are simply responding by “doing what is right” in response to “a bunch of jackals” is truly and pathetically absurd. Not only was this response anticipated, it was INVITED. And while I don’t think Palin’s daughter’s situation IS a reason for Palin not to run (isn’t Dad stay at home?), there is a fine line between having no secrets about the situation and parading it out for political advantage. Palin and the McCain campaign are arguably on that line.
That being said, the only legitimate line of attack regarding Palin’s daughter is to point out the candidate’s behavior on isues relating to teenage pregnancy (as Capn America did). In fact, if Democratic activists want to do something useful, go to the shelters that Palin cut funding for. Let people see the face of those hurt by her actions. But passing on questionable photographs and rumors? Playing into the Republican’s hands. Period.
I stand by my previous post. All of it.
Did Michele Obama have an abortion? Has she killed any children? Why hide it liberals? Do we really want somebody who has killed a child that close to the White House?
I agree Ag! Well said! It is an election where the Republican candidates will be their own undoing — we should criticize the many areas they would rather we not pay attention to. They are inviting attention to this and hoping it stays off some facts they can’t defend. Vaughn alluded to the same when he posted about the difference in “experience” and “knowing.” There are many areas Palin doesn’t “know.” The next president of the U.S. also gave us this excellent advice. So, lets pull on our adult reasoned attitudes. We KNOW what is potentially disastrous to our country and must fight against the McCain / Palin ticket effectively.
Did you see the interview with Tucker Bounds? The reporter asked about Palin’s foreign policy background. He went off on administrative experience. She calmly asked again, more clearly and again he had no answer. This went on for about five or six questions and the reporter remained calm, polite but firmly requested an answer to the question asked. He never could. There is no defense of the indefensible.
When we point out anything about Palin’s family, we are playing into the Republicans hands. They can defend that! There are so many areas they can’t. Palin began her political career with questionable firings when she was mayor, she loves ear marks, she is being investigated after a very short time in the governor position. There is her membership to an organization all about Alaska succeeding from the union. The speech she gave at her church to graduates. The recorded sermons of that church’s senior pastor. Her above mentioned lack of support for everything that might help a young girl out of a bad decision. Her attacks on science. Her limited and slanted (to bring Alaska great wealth) knowledge of drilling in ANWR. The list is very looooong. And the negatives on the list of warmonger McCain is equally long or greater.
What facts and policies do either McCain or Palin bring to our troubled economy? Where have either one demonstrated an ability to be a diplomat in dealing with foreign powers? Let’s concentrate on what are the ways they see changing what they say needs to be changed? Change what and how?
So, I second Agnatha in that there are many really great reasons this ticket shouldn’t be elected without ever mentioning anything personal.
If personal is damning, it won’t need our help.
Gee,
Anyone who nics herself Kandisue has so little (probably justified)self esteem that she can envision no future except to get married to an abusive fundamentalist control freak. When someone as well educated, confidently itelligent and obviously loved as Michelle Obama shows up, Kandisue sees all the future she was unable to rise to, and her only reaction can be to pile as much hatred as she can on the Woman, to attempt to pull her down to her level.
So Kandisue, either stay in the hole you’ve dug and accept the inevitable or have the courage and motivation to rise up, get an education and a life and become a real woman. Your children will thank you!

John McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, as his running mate finally gave Republicans a reason to vote for him – a reason, that is, other than B. Hussein Obama.
The media are hopping mad about McCain’s vice presidential selection, but they’re really furious over at MSNBC. After drawing “Keith (plus) Obama” hearts on their denim notebooks, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews stayed up all night last Thursday, writing jokes about Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, the presumed vice presidential pick. Now they can’t use any of them.
So the media are taking it out on our brave Sarah and her 17-year-old daughter.
They claimed Palin was chosen only because she’s a woman. In fact, Palin was chosen because she’s pro-life, pro-gun, pro-drilling and pro-tax cuts. She’s fought both Republicans and Democrats on public corruption and does not have hair plugs like some other vice presidential candidate I could mention. In other words, she’s a “Republican.”
As a right-winger, Palin will appeal to the narrow 59 percent of Americans who voted for another former small-market sportscaster: Ronald Reagan. Our motto: Sarah Palin is only a heartbeat away!
If you’re going to say Palin was chosen because she’s a woman, you’re going to have to demonstrate that the runners-up were more qualified. Gov. Tim Pawlenty seems like a terrific fellow and fine governor, but he is not obviously more qualified than Palin.
As for former governor of Pennsylvania Tom Ridge and Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, the other also-rans, I can think of at least 40 million unborn reasons she’s better than either of them.
Within the first few hours after Palin’s name was announced, McCain raised $4 million in campaign donations online, reaching $10 million within the next two days. Which shortlist vice presidential pick could have beaten that?
The media hysterically denounced Palin as “inexperienced.” But then people started to notice that she has more executive experience than B. Hussein Obama – the guy at the top of the Democrats’ ticket.
They tried to create a “Troopergate” for Palin, indignantly demanding to know why she wanted to get her ex-brother-in-law removed as a state trooper. Again, public corruption is not a good issue for someone like Obama, Chicago pol and noted friend of Syrian National/convicted felon Antonin Rezko.
For the cherry on top, then we found out Palin’s ex-brother-in-law had Tasered his own 10-year-old stepson. Defend that, Democrats.
The bien-pensant criticized Palin, saying it’s irresponsible for a woman with five children to run for vice president. Liberals’ new talking point: Sarah Palin: Only five abortions away from the presidency.
They claimed her newborn wasn’t her child, but the child of her 17-year-old daughter. That turned out to be a lie.
Then they attacked her daughter, who actually is pregnant now, for being unmarried. When liberals start acting like they’re opposed to pre-marital sex and mothers having careers, you know McCain’s vice presidential choice has knocked them back on their heels.
But at least liberal reporters had finally found someone their own size to pick on: a 17-year-old girl.
Speaking of Democrats with newborn children, the media weren’t particularly concerned about John Edwards running for president despite his having a mistress with a newborn child.
While the difficult circumstances of Palin’s pregnant daughter are being covered like a terrorist attack on the nation, with leering accounts of the 18-year-old father, the media remain resolutely uninterested in the parentage of Edwards’ mistress’s love child. Except, that is, the hardworking reporters at the National Enquirer, who say Edwards is the father.
As this goes to press, the latest media-invented scandal about Palin is that McCain didn’t know her well before choosing her as his running mate. He knew her well enough, though admittedly, not as well as Obama knows William Ayers.
John F. Kennedy, who was – from what the media tell me – America’s most beloved president, detested his vice president, Lyndon Johnson.
Until Clinton interviewed Al Gore one time before choosing him as his vice presidential candidate, he had met Gore only one other time: when Gore was running for president in 1988 and flew to Little Rock seeking Clinton’s endorsement. Clinton turned him down.
To this day, there’s no proof that Bill Clinton ever met one-on-one with his CIA director, James Woolsey, other than a brief chat after midnight the night before Woolsey’s nomination was announced.
Barring some all-new, trivial and probably false story about Palin – her former hairdresser got a parking ticket in 1978! – the media apparently intend to keep being hysterical about McCain’s alleged failure to “vet” Palin properly. The problem with this argument is that it presupposes that everyone is asking: “HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?”
No one’s saying that.
Attacks on McCain’s “vetting” process require the media to keep claiming that Palin has a lot of problems. But she doesn’t have any problems. Remember? Those were all blind alleys.
Unfortunately, for the ordinary TV viewer hearing nonstop hysteria about nonspecific “problems,” it takes a lot of effort to figure out that every attack liberals have launched against Palin turned out to be a lie.
It’s as if a basketball player made the winning shot in the last three seconds of the game and liberals demand that we have a week-long discussion about whether the player should have taken that shot. WHAT IF HE MISSED?
With Palin, McCain didn’t miss.
How many abortions has Kandisue had? How many children has she killed? Why hide it Kandisue?

If it was up to me Tiller would be in jail for life. But one things for sure I would not want to be him in 50 years.
Now how many abortions has (I’m not proud of my country Michele Obama) had?

I think you just illustrated a number of points in the article.
Thanks bth.
Kandisue,
“I take it that you are a homosexual.”
Whatever my sexual orientation might or might not be, you don’t have a thing to worry about. I wouldn’t sleep with you on a bet, not because of what’s between your legs, but what’s between your ears!
“But at least liberal reporters had finally found someone their own size to pick on: a 17-year-old girl.”
But when CONS like John McCain and Rush Limbaugh pick on a 13-year-old girl that’s OK?
“Off course she’ll wear white…hypocrisy is what being a fundamentalist, right wing, Republican is all about.”
So Mary- you have never had any one in your family “have” to get married? You yourself have not “had” to get married? Did you yourself wear white to your wedding? I would re-think your “hypocrisy” statement.
K-queen,
Mary isn’t the one preaching about other women’s sex lives. Besides, “have to get married” is probably the second worst reason in the world to get married. As far as what color a woman chooses to get married in, it’s her own choice, and I can’t see any possible reason it should concern you unless you’re the bridesmaid. Mind your own karma!
Kandiesue, go take some nerve pills. They’ll help calm you down. Or, better yet, go get laid. That’ll make you feel even better.
I don’t think she should cast stones when she is at fault of the same thing!
Bee,
“Or, better yet, go get laid. That’ll make you feel even better.”
I wouldn’t count on that- her choice of partners is substantially limited by her mouth defect, although being a good fundie christian, all that delicious guilt might at least partially make up for whatever her partner lacks.
K-queen,
Mary isn’t casting stones, she’s returning fire. If you don’t like return fire, don’t go casting the first stone- the second might be better aimed.
Maybe a vibrator?
Returning fire? Ridiculous!
K-queen,
“Returning fire? Ridiculous!”
Yeah, that’s what you all say immediately after attacking someone (out of all that good christian love, no doubt), but Karma’s a bitch, isn’t she?
bth,
“Maybe a vibrator?”
She won the Energizer Bunny Award three years running.
Oh yes- I can see that’s what EVERYONE says~
Tell me karma – when McCain was making those jokes about Chelsea Clinton did you call him for his hatefulness?
I don’t recall those comments. I think we women have waited far too long to be treated as equals, and now that we have a woman finally on the ticket, all we can do is question her motives and her abilities?
Karma – you don’t recall McCain saying Chelsea was ugly because Janet Reno was her father (also making fun of a woman AG)? Or Rush Limbaugh saying she was the White House dog?
Selective memory?
Well I guess all these wrongs make a right then eh?
K-queen,
Sorry, but this is a presidential election, not the Miss Alaska competition. We the voters have not only the right but the duty to question the motives and abilities of the candidates, regardless of race, gender, religion or any other distraction. If the ‘publicans want to nominate the geriatric models of GI Joe and Barbie, they can, but they don’t get passes on the tough questions because of their past lives as glamour dolls. Sorry baby, but that’s democracy for you. If you don’t like it, there are plenty of other countries to choose from.
I guess we’ll see what the debates hold!
I don’t like her because she’s a beauty queen, I happen to agree with her on her pro-life, pro-gun ownership, pro-drill at home, etc policies.
K-queen,
Then you’d like any faithful republican equally well, since they all read from the same list of talking points.
