How many Clinton staffers, friends and associates refused to testify, in order to protect Clinton?

Palin will be fine, in this case.

Nobody will care that she was curious about a man who tasered her own nephew.

On the other hand?

The Rezco case, the William Ayers case, and other cases, might hurt Obama before November:

Subpoenas to be issued for Palin-trooper probe

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Legislature is hastening its ethics investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner, making it far more likely it will be completed before November's election.

State Sen. Hollis French said Friday that seven witnesses told the Legislature's investigator they will refuse depositions and canceled their meetings. French, who is overseeing the investigation into whether Palin abused her power, said the Legislature will subpoena these witnesses, who do not include the governor.

Lawmakers say they have put the investigation on a fast track now that Palin is Republican John McCain's running mate. The investigation previously was expected to end on Oct. 31. French said the new target date for investigator Stephen Branchflower to complete the report is Oct. 10.

"It's just basic fairness to the governor," said French, an Anchorage Democrat who heads the Senate Judiciary Committee. "We started to focus on Oct. 31 because that's the end of Mr. Branchflower's contract, but our motion says prepare a report in a timely manner."

In July, a state oversight committee approved $100,000 for an investigation into whether Palin fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan because he would not dismiss a trooper, Mike Wooten, who went through a messy divorce with her sister before Palin's election as governor.

"I would like to put this behind me and move on with my life," Wooten said in an interview with The Washington Post, published on its Web site Friday night. "I don't wish ill will on anyone. I think that the nomination that Sarah got is great for the state of Alaska. I wish her good luck and the family good luck. I honestly think that everyone involved in this wanted to put this beyond us."

Wooten said he was proud he had once been part of the Palin family, but he contradicted Palin's statement that she overheard him in 2005 threaten her father during an argument with Palin's younger sister, Molly McCann, Wooten's wife at the time. Wooten noted that an internal investigation failed to sustain the death-threat allegation.

"That did not happen," Wooten said. "There was obviously arguments between Molly and I, but there were no confrontations where I threatened to kill her father. I haven't threatened to kill anyone in that family."

Wooten said he had no direct information about efforts to have him fired after Palin became governor in 2006.

French and Branchflower, both former Anchorage prosecutors, said the state's Legislative Council has the right to authorize the investigation.

But Palin's state-hired attorney Thomas Van Flein said the matter should be taken up by the state's personnel board, made up of three people appointed by former Gov. Frank Murkowski. Van Flein and Palin have asked the three members to resolve the dispute over the firing.

In the meantime, several state employees working for the governor or her administration and deemed crucial witnesses by Branchflower have canceled appointments to give depositions. All potentially could be subpoenaed.

jjj,

To be fair, I checked out your link. I had no idea who Jann Wenner was, so I check her out, too.

Yes, US Weekly did a huge cover story on Palin. From what I heard, it was a bit of fluff to draw people to continue to buy the magazine for "more news" as the next 2 months go by. Typical. Leaning right? Maybe. I don't buy gossip magazines, even with all the "juicy" stuff about Saracuda. I don't buy magazines at all.

Men's Journal is owned by Jann Wenner also. Not sure it has any leanings, but if it's the magazine I'm thinking of, it has some hot guys on the cover.

Rolling Stone Magazine, also owned by Jann Wenner, is, I would say, left-leaning. I'm almost certain it's the magazine that interview Robert Kennedy Jr. on the Ohio election mess. Or was it Florida? Either/or. I'm sure it got its fair share of "boycott the advertisers" from the right for that one.

So it appears Jann Wenner likes working both sides of the political aisle, and I'm sure she (and the advertisers) enjoy the money they all make.

Here is one example of properly citing a work from the Web on a discussion list.

.

Of course, I myself didn't attribute the Website I received that information from, so it would be a fair accusation that I plagiarized the example.

Leading by example, no matter how many stab wounds I take. :D

Linda a little snideness showing from those 'holier than thou lips'. I merely pointed out that you and Pmom have used the same accusations against many, many, many times. They have never been proven to be accurate despite your claim that they have.

But thats ok I don't hold grudges so if the left needs to feel warm and fuzzy by trying to run down the GOP candidates go for it. I can see the insecurities are strong in the left zone today.

Why, okob, what happened to that ability to turn off, not watch, not read, not listen that you were lecturing about?

Everything I posted was properly cited. You have objections with any one of the quotes, and are unable to follow your own advice, maybe you could object to the quotes authors.
-----------------------
Actually, you didn't properly document the source, you attributed the quotes to an entity or a speaker.

Why, okob, what happened to that ability to turn off, not watch, not read, not listen that you were lecturing about?

Everything I posted was properly cited. You have objections with any one of the quotes, and are unable to follow your own advice, maybe you could object to the quotes authors.
———————–
Actually, you didn’t properly document the source, you attributed the quotes to an entity or a speaker.

Linda could you find some new material. These are getting old. McCain may or may not have said them. If he did it was poor taste and really not funny to most people. As an avid reader I am sure you know that sometimes authors stretch the truth and just outright lie on ocassion.

Paul:
Your comments on last night’s ratings were correct… on their face.
However, according to TV Week, the majority of viewers for McCain’s speech came from NBC, where they went immediately to the RNC from a football game.
CBS’ numbers were up 3% from Obama’s speech, but ABC was down 2%.
Definitive cable numbers will be out this afternoon.
But, as anyone in television can tell you, the retention rate for anything aired after an NFL game is next to nothing. The TV set may be on, but people are likely getting up, going to the bathroom, et.al.
--------------------
Didn't realize your station's coat hanger antennae could pick up cable. :D

"lindainks55" cites Leno --

<i>"[McCain... didn’t want to have to be in a position to have to get CPR from Mitt Romney.”</i>

I'm not a big Leno fan, but that's pretty funny.

We're getting a lot of back-hall reports of how the delegates to the Republic Party Convention were mostly red-meat twice-born evangelicals, and how lukewarm they were about McCoot as the nominee, and how the Trophy Veep got them interested again.

Among those disgruntled Veep candidates who are really pissed in private are Joe Lieberman, Tom Ridge, Minnesota's Pawlanky (something like that), and Mittens Romney.

As a matter of practical politics, when as a major political party's convention ever before been considered a "success" when all it's achieved is solidifying the party's *BASE?* And not with the nominee for President but for the Vice-Presidential pick?!
