Obama not making progress with Clinton dead-enders

Barack Obama is still having trouble closing the deal with about a third of Hillary Clinton supporters, even though Clinton supporters say they trust Obama more than John McCain to handle nearly all the top issues. A new poll found that 58 percent of those who backed Clinton during the primaries now support Obama. That’s the same percentage as in June, despite Clinton’s strong endorsement of Obama. As a result, McCain has greater support from his party than Obama, with 87 percent of Republicans backing McCain and 74 percent of Democrats saying they will vote for Obama.

Obama has great message to take this country in a bold new direction.

    the message?

Republicans are bad and their ideas are bad. The End.

Is this even unusual? What percentage of people who supported a candidate who lost in the primary typically don’t support the primary winner?

    A little context Editors.

Or how about some entertainment? After all, since only a racist would not support Obama then 1/3rd of Clinton supporters are obviously racist. Progressive Emotionalism is so fun.

    Biden garbles Depression history

Joe Biden’s denunciation of his own campaign’s ad to Katie Couric got so much attention last night that another odd note in the interview slipped by.

He was speaking about the role of the White House in a financial crisis.

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed,” Biden told Couric. “He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’”

As Reason’s Jesse Walker footnotes it: “And if you owned an experimental TV set in 1929, you would have seen him. And you would have said to yourself, ‘Who is that guy? What happened to President Hoover?’”

Subtract the folks who will never vote for someone so “different,” i.e., not ordinary middle class petite bourgeosie.

But then you have to add all the new voters who finally have a reson to go to the polls . . .

After Howard Dean and Barack Obama, the new Democratic Party is not your dad’s Democratic Party.

It is however a lot more like your grandfather’s Democratic Party.

    Viva FDR. Viva Harry Truman.

I think in the end, we will find that many people expected to vote for Obama will not vote for him.

He is extreme left, even by democrats standards. Many will not like that, and in fact fear the extremism.

And others will follow what history and human nature has shown: will vote with their race.

Sorry on the later, but someone has to be honest. Although I think there are fewer of these as society becomes educated (like not killing Downs babies), I still think many will vote by race.

Not to mention the super hero, the One, with the power to create “change” is rapidly wearing off.

People are tired of it and realize Obama is no more capable of promoting change – as his seasoned VP is.

    Well Phillip,

You Obamaniacs might START by not referring to Clinton supporters as “dead enders”.

Thing that sold it for me?

No way, no how, no Sarah Palin. As more people come to know her, or rather come to know how she and her agenda are being hidden from them, they’ll realize as I did. Sarah Palin and John McCain must NOT win this election. On this, all depends.

My parents who live out in the sticks of Southwest Sedgwick county got a call from Micelle Obama during the primaries. My mom and dad are in their 70’s and they were so impressed by Micelle’s call that they have since been in solidly in the Obama camp. My parents grew up in an era when my father’s father worked for a man in Oklahoma who by law had to leave town by sundown. My grandfather’s boss was so light, he could pass the paper-bag test – and thus he could stay in town. Let’s not perpetrate this crime of race hatred and nonsense for our children. I won’t, I can tell you that.

America, this is our chance to make something of ourselves. Palin/McCain – Thanks, but no thanks!!!

Complimentary “Crazy As A Loon” Ringtone

Back before I was a movie star
    Straight off of the farm
I had a picture of another man’s wife
    Tattooed on my arm
With a pack of Camel cigarettes
In the sleeve of my tee shirt
    I’m headin’ out to Hollywood
Just to have my feelings hurt

That town will make you crazy
Just give it a little time
You’ll be walking ’round in circles
    Down at Hollywood and Vine
You’ll be waitin’ on a phone call
At the wrong end of a broom
Yes, that town’ll make you crazy
    Crazy as a loon

So, I headed down to Nashville
    To become a country star
Every night you’d find me hangin’
    At every honky-tonk and bar
Pretty soon I met a woman
Pretty soon she done me wrong
Pretty soon my life got sadder
    Than any country song

That town will make you crazy
Just give it a little time
You’ll be walking ’round in circles
    Lookin’ for that country rhyme
You’ll be waitin’ on a phone call
At the wrong end of a broom
Yea, that town’ll make you crazy
    Crazy as a loon

So, I gathered up my savvy
    Bought myself a business suit
I headed up to New York City
Where a man can make some loot
    I got hired Monday morning
    Downsized that afternoon
    Overcome with grief that evening
Now I’m crazy as a loon

So I’m up here in the north woods
    Just staring at a lake
    Wondering just exactly how much
They think a man can take
I eat fish to pass the time away
    ‘Neath this blue Canadian moon
This old world has made me crazy
    Crazy as a loon
Lord, this world will make you crazy
    Crazy as a loon
