Let Palin sit for the ‘piranhas’

Sarah Palin was conspicuously absent from the Sunday talk shows, the only no-show of the morning among the four nominees across both tickets. At least the campaign has booked her first interview as John McCain’s running mate for later this week with ABC News’ Charles Gibson. On Sunday, McCain campaign manager Rick Davis acted like interviews would only be done with strings attached, if at all, asking: “Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children? So until at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference, I think it would be foolhardy to put her out into that kind of environment.” Media bashing plays well with Republicans, but it’s not too much to expect a would-be vice president to take questions, hard and soft, from reporters.

The one where SNL pokes fun at the media, for being so PRO-OBAMA! It is really funny.

The media IS biased. Repubicans SHOULD control the media access and availability.

There is no good reason to let the leftist, biased media control events.

    The public understands this, perfectly.

BTW, as far as the “fairness doctrine” is concerned? How about Palin going on Oprah?

The Moose-Dresser: The Gaffe that Keeps on Giving

Gov. Sarah Palin made her first potentially major gaffe during her time on the national scene while discussing the developments of the perilous housing market this past weekend.

Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had “gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers.” The companies, as McClatchy reported, “aren’t taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization.”

Well said. Well reasoned. There is no reason to expose Ms. Palin to the leftist “journalists” who are bent only on bringing her down. Sorry, she is the story and the media reaps what it sows, in this case suspicion and mistrust.

Capn you are an example of the competence of the liberal media. Who cares about her qualifications about national security, the economy, plans to help special needs children, education, health care – no we need her to take a DNA test, dish the dirt about her husbands 22 year old DUI, who all has she had an affair with, was baby Trig actually her baby, why didn’t a 43 year old woman know how to not get pregnant, why didn’t she abort this ‘damaged’ fetus, can a woman with 5 children actually handle the VP job especially if she is a ‘conservative’, should her daughter have an abortion, will she marry before the baby is born, and last but not least has she hung from the chandeliers, played with snakes or spoke in tongues in her house of worship. You know the REALLY important questions.

Way to go McCain. Unless the press learns how to treat a woman who is a candidate for VP of the US I agree they shouldn’t be allowed in.

This is really rich: We got the governor of Alaska, a state known for its rugged people; a woman who was known as barracuda during her school days; a mother of five, one of which has downs syndrome; a mother handling her seventeen year old daughter’s pregnancy quite admirably; a woman who hunts moose, and her “handlers” think she can’t handle the press?

Give me a break. If they think she can’t handle something as necessary as the press, just what exactly, do they think she can handle? She’s on tap for the Vice-President of the United States. Just what do the handlers think she’s made of, and/or what are they afraid of? That she’s made of Swiss cheese, that she’ll start crying on stage?

This whole Palin selection smacks of a weird side-show. And I doubt a side-show can run this country. The bush administration proved that in their eight years of mismanagement.

If the Democrats lose this election, it’s because they’re too stupid to take advantage of this situation.

Palin’s family and personal “problems” make for a good excuse to avoid more gaffes. Look for a demand for seeing the questions beforehand where the ABC/Charlie interview is concerned. The answers will be formulated and memorized. This way there can be NO gaffes.

And you call Palin a VP candidate?

I guess we’ll see just how gullible the American public is.

If Palin is elected VP it will be the biggest farce in American politics since GWB’s war in Iraq.

I can’t believe anyone would have the audacity to suggest that a VP candidate, or any candidate for any office, should go unscathed. If you really believe in your candidate, let her answer the hardest, most difficult questions. If she’s as good as you say she is, she’ll win the debate and will be the convincing choice. As it is, she’s being kept in secrecy and that is a very dangerous thing we all ought to be concerned about.

But we won’t be. We’ve got other things to worry about including telling everyone else how to live their life.

The people of this country have been voting against their own self-interest since the 1980s and look at where it’s gotten us. The moral issues mean nothing if we’re broke, unemployed, hungry and homeless.

And with the way the price of everything is going up and up and up right now, that day isn’t too far off.

What’s great is the “what the f*ck” look on McCain’s face when Stalin–sorry, Palin–claims that the Fed is taking over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac because they’ve “gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers.” It’s all McCain can do to keep himself from hitting her.

As good as the gaffe, though, is Sarah Palin’s forced delivery on the “we feel your pain!” part of the stump speech. After detailing the litany of pressures and obstacles facing the middle class, he pivots and says “and that’s why John McCain has been calling, for years, to…reform things, to cut bureacracy.”

Bottom line, Repukes: you want to foist THIS trainwreck of a ticket on the American public? Sorry. No. Enjoy your convention bounce: if this is what we can expect of the A-game from Stalin–sorry, PALIN–it’s all downhill from here.

In Rescue to Stabilize Lending, U.S. Takes Over Mortgage Finance Titans
By STEPHEN LABATON and EDMUND L. ANDREWS
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration seized control of the nation’s two largest mortgage finance companies on Sunday, seeking to shrink drastically their outsize influence on Wall Street and on Capitol Hill while at the same time counting on them to pull the nation out of its worst housing crisis in decades.

The bailout plan for the companies, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, a seismic event in a year of repeated financial crises followed by aggressive federal intervention, places the companies in a government conservatorship, much like a bankruptcy reorganization. The plan also replaces the management of the companies.

This is so stupid. What has it been, about 10 days since she was picked as VP candidate? She was the governor of friggin’ Alaska. McCain picked her for personal qualities not for her knowledge of national issues.

But she is obviously a very bright lady and will be up to speed soon on all the national issues and ready to clean the left’s clock. I look forward to it.

Until then, they will just have to wait.

Not because she’s stupid (we underestimate her at our peril), but because she’s unapolegetically extremist, mean-spirited, stubborn, and has a temper that easily rivals John McCain. I’d love to see her “go off” on Tom Brokaw!

    From CF2K’s link:
“You would like to think that someone who is going to be vice president and conceivable president would know what Fannie and Freddie do,” said Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. “These are huge institutions and they are absolutely central to our country’s mortgage debt. To not have a clue what they do doesn’t speak well for her, I’d say.”

Added Andrew Jakabovics, an economic analysts for the progressive think tank, Center for American Progress: “It is somewhat nonsensical because up until yesterday there was sort of no public funding there. Even today they haven’t drawn down any of the credit line they have given to Treasury. ‘Gotten too big and too expensive’ are two separate things. The too big has been a conservative mantra for a while and there is something to be said of that in that they hold about half of the mortgage guarantees that are out there. And in the last year they have been responsible for roughly 80 percent out there. The ‘too expensive to tax payers,’ I don’t know where that comes from.”

Even conservative analysts acknowledged that the statement simply did not hold true.

“Heretofore, if the treasury had a balance sheet there would have been a liability but there was never a taxpayer payment before [the bailout],” said Gerald P. O’Driscoll, an economist with the Cato Institute. “[Fannie and Freddie] were not taxpayer funded. They had taxpayer guarantee, which is worth something, especially in the stock market…”

The Palin misstatement comes as Fannie and Freddie are set to be placed under control of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, created by President Bush in late July to help regulate the two housing giants. Both presidential candidates have been critical of Fannie and Freddie but neither is opposed to the government’s plans for the companies. The treasury is hoping that the government’s role will help stabilize credit markets and incentive more mortgage lending.

“With the takeover they will be taxpayer funded,” said O’Driscoll. “As I understand it they get to withdraw funds with permission going forward.”

How politically significant a “gaffe” it is remains to be seen. The major concern about Palin’s position on the ticket is that she lacks the economic and foreign policy wherewithal to serve as vice president. This certainly doesn’t help on that front. At the same time, the remark went almost entirely unnoticed over the weekend and discussions on the developments of the housing market can be difficult to process for even the most attuned voter.

There are varying explanations that could be offered for Palin’s defense. As O’Driscoll noted, both Fannie and Freddie “were hybrid institutions because they had private ownership but… an implicit government guarantee which people thought at the end of the day was explicit.” Meanwhile, as Baker noted, as of July the two lenders were being offered low market interest rates by the fed again, theoretically, at the taxpayer’s expense. But, he added, “I kind of doubt she had any sense of that.”

    Ready from day one?

BTW, how is Palin going to respond to the threats of China, Russia, Iran or North Korea if she winds up being president? Is she going to say ‘but boys I am only a woman – so you can’t be mean to me’?

I think this whole media circus is designed to keep the voters’ minds off the real issues in this election. And wasn’t that what McCain’s campaign manager said – this election is not about the issues?

Will Palin continue pushing her obvious falsehoods/lies about the Arctic Refuge?

The 2,000-acre “limit” in the legislation does NOT refer to one contiguous area.

    From the U.S. Congress:

“SEC. 7. COASTAL PLAIN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.
    (3) ensure that the maximum surface acreage covered in connection with the leasing program by production and support facilities, including airstrips and any areas covered by gravel berms or piers for support of pipelines, does not exceed 2,000 acres on the Coastal Plain.”

Gravel roads and gravel mines are not included in the “maximum surface acreage covered”.

    http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/content/aug2008/db20080829_272692.htm?chan=top+news_top+news+index_news+%2B+analysis
When you talk about ANWR and the area that needs to be unlocked so that we can explore more and develop these billions of barrels of oil, it’s a swath of land that’s about 2,000 acres in size—and that’s out of a 20 million-acre plain that has been set aside. So 2,000 acres, that’s like a postage stamp on a football field.”
    ————-

“swath” = the width covered with one cut of a scythe or other mowing device

The [coastal] “plain” is about 1.5 milion acres, not “20 million-acre”.

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/015/427xjuoj.asp
“One of the pieces of a solution is allowing exploration on that little 2,000 acre plot of land out of the 20 million acres up there in the coastal plain.”

“plot” = an area (contiguous, singular)

“Let Palin sit for the ‘piranhas’”

Be careful what you ask for……

Palin was nominated to be VP just 10 days ago. 10 days ago nobody outside of Alaska even knew her name.

She had the anouncement speech in Dayton and then the big speech at the RNC last Thursday. She will be interviewed in due time. Every word of hers will be carefully scrutinzed and maligned by the left.

But she is undeniable a smart, accomplished, articulate successful female who many Americans can admire for just that.

No amount of “piranhic” press treatment can hide that in fact it will only serve to embellish it.

She is not a polished politician that has years of experience dealing with pressure packed press confererences, debates and savvy reporters. But the people have a pretty low approval ratings for the current crop of politicians who are hardened with many years of national campaigning. She will be something new and fresh and different and a ratings boost for any network.

Her interview this week is her next test. If she passes with poise, the gap between McCain and Obama gets wider.

The whole country will be watching to see if she can take it. She will do just fine, IMO but it will take some careful preparation to get used to being under so much scrutiny.

It’s all a part of Politics and makes for a very interesting story.

One Thing Obama did in Chicago:

    http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/06/27/grim_proving_ground_for_obamas_housing_policy/?page=full

As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.

But a Globe review found that thousands of apartments across Chicago that had been built with local, state, and federal subsidies – including several hundred in Obama’s former district – deteriorated so completely that they were no longer habitable.

Grove Parc and several other prominent failures were developed and managed by Obama’s close friends and political supporters. Those people profited from the subsidies even as many of Obama’s constituents suffered.

Tenants lost their homes; surrounding neighborhoods were blighted.

Some of the residents of Grove Parc say they are angry that Obama did not notice their plight. The development straddles the boundary of Obama’s state Senate district. Many of the tenants have been his constituents for more than a decade.
“No one should have to live like this, and no one did anything about it,” said Cynthia Ashley, who has lived at Grove Parc since 1994.

Biden is a liberal – one of the most polarizing figures in politics in this country. The bias in the media is obvious when this is not brought up in a campaign whose entire platform is “change.”

Obama is an radical American hating liberal. – I don’t buy into American hating. Demcracy hating quite possibly. Sincere in his beliefs, though I find them slightly to the right of Marxism.

McCain is a luke warm liberal. – Hasn’t toe’d the party line his entire life in Washington. That’s appealing.

Palin is a conservative. – A conservative not in Washington’s pocket. The best kind.

Would you say that the people who disagree with this Hate America or just love our enemies?

    ====================================================================

Those who oppose drilling in America are the same ones who btich the loudest about $4/gal gasoline.

They just live in Fantasyland, and think Obama waiving a magic wand will create energy outta think air (in 10 years!)and we will drive cars that fart clean fairydust.
    ———-

Actually, our enemies (OPEC, et al) would love for the U.S. to do more domestic drilling.

It would have no significant impact on world oil prices — and if it did OPEC could easily countermand it by cutting their production.

So oil prices stay high, and OPEC gets richer. The U.S. depletes our small reserves, and we become more dependent on imported oil.

Our only viable solutions are higher energy efficiency and alternatives.

    You Can’t Fake Authenticity

    Cal Thomas

What is it about Sarah Palin that has gotten the liberal media’s knickers in a twist? Why are they criticizing, even mocking, everything from her hair to her faith?

She is exactly what the feminists claim to want and admire in women: strong, self-assured, a working mom, a political leader. But wait, she is a conservative Republican and because of that they hate her for displaying all of the aforementioned characteristics.

They are appalled that she would keep a Down Syndrome child when she could have aborted him. They are outraged when she speaks of God as if she knows Him, when their only acquaintance with the name is as a curse word, followed by “damn.” They are even disgusted that she has five children, as they think one (or two if you are Obama) is enough.

Sarah Palin is to the left what sunlight is to a vampire. Her high heels have knocked them back on the heels of their comfortable shoes.

    Feminists Flip Out Over Palin

    By Betsy Newmark
High School Government and History Teacher/Blogger

Michelle Cottle has an essay in the New Republic that is really a cri de coeur about the failures of feminism. First she views the Hillary Clinton campaign, which was supposed to be such a high water mark for feminism degenerate into the same sort of complaints of the Obama campaign and media being unfair to the girl:

Then, amid the snows of Iowa, it all fell apart. To be fair, New Hampshire may be more to blame. Iowa was where Hillary’s inevitability narrative unraveled, but New Hampshire was where she got the idea that redemption lay in the legions of gals who rallied ’round when the (mostly male) political establishment and punditocracy began salivating at the thought of her imminent demise. That much of the animus toward Hillary had more to do with her last name than her chromosomes did not matter; women objected to seeing one of their own kicked to the curb with such haste. Hillary’s now famous moment of teary-eyed vulnerability fueled their fury. Sisterhood is what resurrected Hillary in New Hampshire.

The nomination fight degenerated into which candidate would become the tradition-busting first in our history: an African-American or a woman? And the woman lost.

Now the feminists have to deal with Sarah Palin.

Obama, McCain Camps Fight for Women Voters

McCain Campaign Says Their ‘Women for McCain’ Volunteers Have ‘Doubled’ Since Sarah Palin Pick

    By JENNIFER PARKER
    WASHINGTON, Sept. 8, 2008

RSS With 57 days left until Election Day, the campaigns of both Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain are sprinting through key battleground states this week, vying for women voters who widely supported Sen. Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primaries.

(ABC News Photo Illustration)Clinton — who won 54 percent of women voters in the primaries — campaigned for Obama today in Florida, a key battleground state. The Obama campaign plans to send Democratic women governors and senators, such as Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, to other battleground states.

Obama held a campaign rally on the economy in Flint, Mich., while Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden toured Wisconsin and Iowa.

McCain and his vice presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, campaigned today in suburban Kansas City, Mo., where 5,000 people showed up at a campaign rally to see the running mates — 3,000 more than could fit inside the hall where the event was held.

Palin Power? Veep Pick Drives McCain BoostWATCH: Political Throw DownPalin Power? Convention Bounce for McCainMcCain is keeping Palin with him on the campaign trail for the first part of this week, clearly enjoying the larger-than-usual crowds energized by Palin’s conservative credentials and fiery speech at the Republican convention last week.

With Palin’s pick, the McCain campaign is hoping to peel away independents and women voters who identify with her “hockey mom” appeal.

Both the Obama and McCain campaigns argue they have been targeting women voters since the beginning.

However, the McCain campaign says Palin’s pick has given a “shot in the arm” to their effort to recruit women volunteers — doubling their “Women for McCain” grassroots volunteer lists since her acceptance speech.

“She’s a daring and exciting pick that has really rejuvenated support and respect for Sen. McCain,” McCain spokeswoman Crystal Benton said. “When she said she’d ’stand up to the ol’ boys network in Washington,’ that really inspired a lot of women.”

Now, the McCain campaign will begin holding “Mondays for McCain,” when women surrogates and women volunteers in battleground states call women voters, urging them to support McCain.

    Now outlander?

You USED to be better than that.

“Sarah Palin never sought to have any books removed from any library.”

Yes, that is true. Acrobatic as hell, but true.

Sarah Palin DID ask the town librarian if she would have a problem with certain books being removed from the library. When the librarian said she would not allow that? Sarah Palin threatened to fire her.

That’s actually MORE disquieting than if she had named a list of books.

Did Sarah Palin want ongoing up or down on what the community read? Would each new addition to the library have had to meet with HER approval?

    ——————-
Garbage BJ just some more of your hateful lies. The left loves to call me a liar because they lie so much they just assume everyone does.

Asking about the method used to remove books from the library is ‘more disquieting that if she had named a book’. You are truly a moron with delusions of grandeur.

“If I decide I want some books out of the library, do you have a problem with that?”

    What don’t you understand about,

    * Oil is basically fungible, and trades on a global market. We can’t reduce exports only from a specific country or region.

    * We have only a tiny 2 to 3% of the worlds oil reserves, and have already depleted much of our lower-cost oil.

    * We can impact world oil demand (and prices) many times more with higher energy efficiency than with more domestic drilling.

    * “Producing” oil with higher energy efficiency is much cheaper than buying oil.

    http://www.oilendgame.com/ReadTheBook.html
Double the efficiency of using oil. The U.S. today wrings twice as much work from each barrel of oil as it did in 1975; with the latest proven efficiency technologies, it can double oil efficiency all over again.
The investments needed to save each barrel of oil will cost only $12 (in 2000 $)…”

    * Unlike very risky drilling, higher energy efficiency is guaranteed to reduce oil demand.

Do ya think this will shut up the left’s yappy little dogs? Nah, me neither.

    ———————–

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will speak at her son’s Army deployment ceremony on 9/11 and spend two days with ABC News crews later this week as part of a McCain campaign plan to increase Americans’ comfort with her as a leader.

Campaign and network officials had said on Sunday that her first television interview would be a sit-down with Charles Gibson of ABC’s “World News.”

But it turns out that she is spending much of Thursday and Friday with Gibson — at the ceremony in Fairbanks, Alaska, and at her home in Wasilla, Alaska.

Campaign aides said the anchorman will get extensive, repeated access to Palin throughout her first trip home since becoming the nominee.

“ABC News will have plenty of time to question her and examine her and spend time with her,” a campaign official said. “They’ll do multiple interviews over two days. No topics are off-limits – there are no ground rules. There’s tons of time to talk to her about every topic.”

The remarkable rollout reflects new confidence in Palin by her handlers, who initially had suggested it would be a while before she did interviews. Now, there will be several.

Until now, Palin has been “sequestered,” as Sen. Joseph Biden (Del.), her Democratic counterpart, put it on NBC’s “Meet the Press” — delivering rousing speeches, but not giving interviews or holding news conferences or answering questions on the fly. She was the only one of the four national candidates not to appear on a Sunday show this weekend.

“Once you start, you don’t stop,” a Republican official said with a chuckle. “That doesn’t mean you run the faucet on high. But once you turn it on, you don’t really ever turn it off.”
    See Also

The strategy carries risk. ABC is war-gaming tough questions – not gotchas, but some requiring policy knowledge — with the thoroughness that a network prepares for a debate.

The remarkable offer to ABC, made last Friday, is part of an ambitious project to sell Palin well beyond the right — to a broad swath of women and independent voters, including former supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).

“I see women right at the forefront of that, but not exclusively,” a campaign adviser said.

The official said Gibson will have the chance to “speak to her on 9/11 about her ideas for keeping America safe in the future; to speak to her as she goes back to Wasilla, where she grew up, about her life and her views and her vision for the country.”

Two interviews with Gibson are planned for Thursday, including a conversation about her support for a natural-gas pipeline – a key applause line in her convention speech. Then on Friday, Palin will spend “as much time as both parties need” in Wasilla and Anchorage, the official said. She will fly into Anchorage and then drive to Wasilla.

Palin riveted last week’s Republican National Convention with a witty, rousing speech, and has injected huge excitement into the party’s ticket in the 10 days since Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) named her as his surprise pick for running mate.

“People don’t understand how to cover women politicians in a way that is completely fair and enlightened yet,” the official said. “And somehow, she has managed to transcend that.”

Christian conservatives were immediately thrilled by McCain’s choice, and his events took on new electricity.

Asked to describe her appeal, one official said: “I think she is accessible. I think she is honest. I think she is real, and I think she is fearless. In Alaska, she has been such a target because she has always fought for the interests of her constituents, because they’re her neighbors.”

The campaign adviser said: “She’s just this real, identifiable, approachable, funny, smart woman.”

Officials wouldn’t say how the ABC anchor was chosen. “There were lots of tremendous and credible and fair journalists to choose from,” an aide said. “Somebody had to go first.”

“Moreover, although Palin fired Emmons as part of a “loyalty” purge, she rehired Emmons the next day, and Emmons remained at her job for two-and-a-half more years. Actually, Palin initially requested Emmons’ resignation in October 1996, four days before the public discussion of censorship. That was at the same time she requested that all four of Wasilla’s department heads resign. Palin described the requests as a loyalty test and allowed all four department heads to retain their positions. But on Jan. 30, 1997, three months after the censorship discussion, Palin informed Emmons and Wasilla’s police chief, Irv Stambaugh, that they would be fired. According to the Chicago Tribune, Palin did not list censorship as a reason for Emmons’ firing. Palin rehired Emmons the following day. Emmons continued to serve as librarian until August 1999, when the Chicago Tribune reports that she resigned.”

At the latter event, Palin and Alaska LT Governor Scott Parnell were publicly blessed, onstage before an estimated crowd of 6,000, through the “laying on of hands” by Wasilla Assembly of God’s Head Pastor Ed Kalnins whose sermons espouse such theological concepts as the possession of geographic territories by demonic spirits and the inter-generational transmission of family “curses”. Palin has also been blessed, or “anointed,” by an African cleric, prominent in the Third Wave movement, who has repeatedly visited the Wasilla Assembly of God and claims to have effected positive, dramatic social change in a Kenyan town by driving out a “spirit of witchcraft.”

The Wasilla Assembly of God church is deeply involved with both Third Wave activities and theology. Their Master’s Commission program is part of an three year post-high school international training program with studies in prophecy, intercessory prayer, Biblical exegesis, authority and leadership. The pastor, Ed Kalnins, and Masters Commission students have traveled to South Carolina to participate in a “prophetic conference” at Morningstar Ministries, one of the major ministries of the Third Wave movement. Becky Fischer was a pastor at Morningstar prior to being featured in the movie “Jesus Camp.” The head of prophecy at Morningstar, Steve Thompson, is currently scheduled to do a prophecy seminar at the Wasilla Assembly of God. Other major leaders in the movement have also traveled to Wasilla to visit and speak at the church.

The Third Wave is a revival of the theology of the Latter Rain tent revivals of the 1950s and 1960s led by William Branham and others. It is based on the idea that in the end times there will be an outpouring of supernatural powers on a group of Christians that will take authority over the existing church and the world. The believing Christians of the world will be reorganized under the Fivefold Ministry and the church restructured under the authority of Prophets and Apostles and others anointed by God. The young generation will form “Joel’s Army” to rise up and battle evil and retake the earth for God.

Lots of legal activity going on up there in Alaska.

Seems the former best friend of Todd Palin keeps trying to get the records of his divorce case quashed.

I wonder if that’s because he may have been sleeping with Sarah Palin?

Well I’m not a victim of domestic abuse anymore. But I hear the same psychotic bs coming from you asses every day.

No it wasn’t a shotgun wedding. I was trying to be responsible for my daughter and provide a family life. THat’s another reason why I’m pro-divorce on demand. And a reason why I cannot STAND alcoholics.

Cheating is emotional abuse- yes- but I don’t know their marriage- for all I know she could have condoned it. It was up to them to work it out and they did.

    Too serious here.

    Time to lighten up:

A scientific survey in 2002 attempted to find the funniest joke in the world. Thousands of people from dozens of countries voted on thousands of jokes. Each country had a different favorite. Overall, the number one and number two funniest jokes in the world, based on votes, are:
The funniest joke in the world:

A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head.

The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?”

The operator, in a calm, soothing voice, says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”

There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy’s voice comes back on the line. He says: “Okay, now what?”

    The Second Funniest Joke ever:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson goes on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine, they retire for the night, and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend.

‘Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.”

I see millions and millions of stars, Holmes,” replies Watson.

“And what do you deduce from that?”

    Watson ponders for a minute.

“Well, astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three.

“Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe. What does it tell you, Holmes?”

Holmes is silent for a moment. ‘Watson, you idiot!” he says. “Someone has stolen our tent!”

The Funniest Joke in England and the United Kingdom:

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: “That’s the ugliest baby that I’ve ever seen. Ugh!” The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: “The driver just insulted me!” The man says: “You go right up there and tell him off – go ahead, I’ll hold your monkey for you.”

A man and a friend are playing golf one day at their local golf course. One of the guys is about to chip onto the green when he sees a long funeral procession on the road next to the course. He stops in mid-swing, takes off his golf cap, closes his eyes, and bows down in prayer. His friend says: “Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen. You truly are a kind man.” The man then replies: “Yeah, well we were married 35 years.”

Over the weekend, MSNBC replaced Olbermann and Chris Matthews as co-anchors of political night coverage after the cable channel finished last in the Nielsen rankings during the two political conventions. David Gregory will take over the political desk; Olbermann and Matthews will remain as analysts.

Phil Griffin, MSNBC’s president, denied that his network has an ideology. “I think ideology means we think one way, and we don’t,” he told The New York Times.

    Pitbull Owners Blast Palin

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who famously compared herself to a pitbull in her vice-presidential acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, appears to have antagonized a key voting bloc in the upcoming election, the nation’s pitbull owners.

When compared to the most wasteful country on the planet, it really doesn’t mean much. When CONSERVATION is added to the equation, it means something.

Conservation is all well and good, but won’t get you to work in the morning.

Not a damn thing, I bet.

Walker wants SOMEONE ELSE to conserve.

“Or will you now claim “Mulsim” is not really a faith after all.”

Why would I assume that Muslim Faith is not really a faith?
