Don’t give up on immigration audit

If the Legislature intends to inject itself into the federal problem of illegal immigration, it should do so knowing as much as possible about what undocumented residents cost Kansas, how much they pay in taxes and how they affect labor costs and employment. That was why state Rep. Nile Dillmore, D-Wichita, successfully sought an off-session audit of illegal immigration’s economic impact. So it was good to see such a planned legislative study escape the ax last week in Topeka, after deputy post auditor Leo Hafner told legislators that studying illegal immigration is “one of those things where you’re literally trying to nail Jell-O to the wall.” When the audit panel considers the issue again this month, it should try to focus the study, not scrap it.

“Pew Hispanic Center estimated in 2005 that were 40,000 to 70,000 illegal immigrants in Kansas”

This is an important number as it would put the illegal alien population as the seventh most populated group in Kansas when compared to size of cities.

    An investigation should go forth.

A person in position to observe the situation told me a few days ago the illegal immigrant population in Wichita might be shrinking as they move on to cities with better economies such as Garden City and Liberal in western Kansas and south to Texas.

Who actually knows? That’s why we need the audit.

I think that’s part of the “Jell-O to the wall” problem.

    But not “literally,” fer chrissakes!

Why do people say “literally” when they mean “figuratively?”

Oh, yeah. I forgot the wisdom of the boy prophet “Nathaniel,” who said: “Just because you take something literally doesn’t mean you take every word literally.”

As long as American companies hire illegal aliens for substandard wages and with no legal ramifications the issue is one of human exploitation. A few employers cooling their heels for a couple of years in Leavenworth would solve the illegal alien problem pronto.

Otherwise, don’t wear pork chop jockey shorts and complain about dogs sniffing your crotch.

    True, “Freebird1971″ –

A friend of mine used to work for Legal Aid in KCK.

    Here’s the illegal worker merrie-go-round:

Outfits (among the repeat offenders were Olathe Boots and Kansas City Salad) hire illegal aliens for substandard wages. But workers make enough to bring their wives into the country, or find a girl (often a citiizen) up here, marry, and give birth to a bouncing baby American citizen.

The employer gets raided, fined a pittance, and the illegal workers are flown back to Mexico or Guatemala, Honduras, wherever. For all the CONs’ talk of family values, the policy ruins the family units of aliens lured to this country to work.

Which is what the unlawful employers immediately, starting the cycle again.

    Put ‘em in the pokey!

Illegal Hispanics are going to be a growing problem in Wichita. Hispanics don’t assimilate. And they’re the most racist, prejudiced people you ever dealt with.

“Dial one if you wish to carry out this transaction in English”. I’m an American in America. Why is there even a choice about what language I want to use?

Hispanics are everywhere. I ate breakfast in a McDonalds Saturday and 90% of the employees were Hispanic.

    “…Hispanics don’t assimilate.”

    WHAT!?

I can’t imagine a more classic example of “assimilation” than working for McDonald’s. I thought everyone in America under the age of 40 got their first job at McDonald’s.

(I didn’t have the chops to go to Hamburger University. I went to Hamburger Community College. Got my Associates’ Degree in Pickle Placement.)

I know more Hispanics than I can count. “Assimilated” Hispanics.

Now illegals who’ve been lured here by illegal and unethical employers do tend to stay within their community. It’s like the bus-and-truck version of “The Diary of Anne Frank.” They keep a low profile as a means of survival.

None of those undocumented workers would be in the United States if someone hadn’t offered them a job for a pathetic better wage than they could earn in the Mexican hinterlands.

    Nail the employers!

I’ve killed more immigration threads than I care to think about by suggesting striped jump suits for the people who hire illegal aliens.

The CONs can’t argue against it. The CONs don’t want to hear it. They’re afraid of offending their corrupt business base.

They have a lot more fun with their thinly-veiled racism; bitching about even given the option to “Press 2″ on the phone; resenting it when the waitress speaks Spanish…in a Mexican restaurant.

It’s irony worthy of Greek Theatre that the Republic Party goes with its racists rather than embracing Hispanics. The culture is very family-centric, with a work ethic that blows away other demographics. They’re predominately Catholic and probably tend to advocate illegal abortions, like all good Republic Partisans.

    But they’re brown.

Republic Party faithful tend to hate that.

Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.
Welfare say, “You come no more,
We send cash right to your door.”
Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,
    Medicaid it keep you healthy!
By and by, I got plenty money,
    Thanks to you, American dummy.
    Write to friends in motherland,
Tell them ‘come fast as you can.’
They come in droves and in Ford trucks,
I buy big house with welfare bucks
They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it gets better!
    Fourteen families, they moving in,
    But neighbor’s patience wearing thin.
    Finally, white guy moves away,
Now I buy his house, and then I say,
“Find more illegals for house to rent.”
And in the yard I put a tent.
Send for family they just trash,
But they, too, draw the welfare cash!
    Everything is very good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.
We have hobby — it’s called breeding,

Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free! We got no bills!
American crazy! He pay all year,

Does anybody really think that a Legislative audit will not be dominated by the Business Roundtable people? The open borders crowd and those who thrive employing illegals will write the final report. There is no large organized group opposing illegal immigration because those that do are painted as racist, xenophobic, hate mongers.
The report that will be written will show illegal workers in a most favorable light. They will gloss over the crime, drugs, and the burden that illegals place on schools, hospitals, and State resources. It will not even mention the downward pressure on wages that has resulted from so many of these people coming up here and taking our jobs. And for sure it will not mention the high birth rates that these people have that will multiply their numbers much faster than the indigenous Kansas population.
Face it, the big cigars want cheap labor and the democrats want new voters. Those of us who want illegal immigration stopped before its to late don’t count.

Doesn’t matter. Neither party gives a shit about illegals. Per posters here: One party wants them for slave labor, the other party has a bleeding heart for their criminal souls.

The study, will delay any action. This involves considerable time.

    1. Political discussion and agreement on what the study should consist of.
    2. Study the possible contractors to do the study.
    3. Party fight over who to contract to do the study.
    4. Selection process of contractor.
    5. Contractual period to conduct study.
    6. Time to release study to public.
    7. Time for politicans to study the study.
    8. Time for politicans to argue the merits to the study results.
    9. Time to propose any minor legislation to enact the study recommendations.
    10. Delay tactics at the state house.
    11. Time on agenda to vote on the issues.
    12. Time for the THEN gov. to sign or veto.
    13. If veto, time to start all over again.

Anyone remember the school financing study?

In effect: The study KILLS any legislation on ILLEGAL CRIMINALS taking jobs and resources in the sanctuary state surrounded by tough law states.

Please, Borg element 216, the Pukes are doing exactly the same thing; McCain and Palin are poised for photo-ops, a republican was interviewed on CNN complaining that Gustav would steal their show; and another was claiming that how well McCain appeared to handle the crisis would be what swayed voters.

Seems that Mayor Nagin just can’t get it right. When he should have evacuated, he didn’t and when he did, the hurricane turned out to be a pussy cat..

I am very pleased that it didn’t hit. At least the people of New Orleans have a home to go home to and no one was hurt. Not to mention that all of the rebuilding by everyone didn’t go in vain. btw, even tho your precious media doesn’t say anything about it, there have been many missions from churches in America going to New Orleans for the past 3 years to help rebuild. Just think, it is the churches that have helped New Orleans more than the government.

First the MSM was expecting great things with Obama and his temple and their thunder got squashed by McCain’s announcement of Sarah Palin as his running mate. Then they wanted to destroy the republicans in hopes that Gustav would destroy New Orleans again but their thunder got squashed again when it fizzled out.

Tulsa has seen over 25,000 leave and the local Tulsa police are now taking the Federal Section 287g training to be able to enforce immigration laws.

This helps immensely with their GANG activity. They can get them deported faster than getting them into the Criminal justice system with all the rules etc. Load them up and get them out.

I am sick and tired of you damn immigrationoids ranting and railing about “illegal immigration”… and the only thing you’ve done is make it next to impossible for me to get my financee here LEGALLY.
If you want to control “illegal immigration”:
    1. Fund ICE adequately. This will end the 80 percent of “undocumented” aliens who enter legally, but become “illegal” because their paperwork NEVER gets processed on time. This would allow the government to go after the people who really do come here illegally;
    2. Give Congress the nad to stop all the “flavor of the month” exclusions to immigration law. Federal case law states that if an “illegal” immigrant claims one of those exemptions, the burden of proof falls on the government to prove he/she doesn’t qualify. Of course, that means that 186,000 Afghans who haven’t had their paperwork processed since 2001 would have to go home and face the Taliban, but what the hey.
    3. Implement a temporary “guest worker” program for 3-5 years. Yeah, you might call that “amnesty”, but let’s face it: you ain’t gonna get 20 million people in the back of Bubba’s pickemup truck.
Granted, that’s not a “final solution”. But it breaks the problem down to the three percent who actually cause most of the trouble… which is, at least, a STARTING point.

If you really want to solve the problem instead of just bitching about it, how about enforcing the labor laws already on the books? Force employers to abide by wage and hour laws, give the same benefits to all workers. Treat the immigrant the same as any other employee, and the illegals lose their competitive edge. End the ability of employers to exploit a segment of the labor force and you’ve ended most of the illegal immigration problem.
Of course that also means that some industries will lose a substantial number of cheap workers, and that Big Mac will get substantially more expensive, but at least the bigots here can eat it without having to hear Spanish spoken or see a Hispanic face.
