Biden’s foot often in mouth

Hard to say whether this ranks among Joe Biden’s best gaffes or comes under the heading of Could Happen to Anyone: During a visit to Columbia, Mo., Biden shouted to one of the assembled Democratic faithful, “Chuck, stand up, let the people see you.” The thing is, Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham uses a wheelchair. The Democratic vice presidential nominee followed up with, “Oh, God love you. What am I talking about? I’ll tell you what, you’re making everybody else stand up, old pal. I’ll tell you what, everybody else stand up for Chuck. Stand up for Chuck!”

Such awkward moments are bipartisan, though. Recall how President Bush, at a Rose Garden press conference in 2006, teased a reporter who was legally blind with, “Are you going to ask that question with shades on?”

The wheelchair incident was among several suitable for addition to the Republican National Committee’s “Biden gaffe clock”: Wednesday in New Hampshire, he said, “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.” And in Florida recently, he referred to “the Biden administration.”

Oh well, at least he recognized that he made a stupid comment. I don’t think any gaffe can ever compare to Bush’s sitting by and reading about goats for 7 minutes while thousands of Americans die and millions have to turn to a mayor, rather than our President, for leadership.

I still think the son-of-a-bitch knew it was coming and let it happen, Maggotpunk. And regarding 9-11; we’ve just had our national day of blubbering, name-reading, remembering, and half-masting. All that’s fine, but the rest of the people on the planet must think it’s all a bit much. The corpses in the mass graves across the world would stack up a hell of a lot higher than those two felled towers. One reason for our arrogance is nothing really, really bad has every happened to us, at least since the Civil War.

What exactly would those 7 minutes have done Maggotpunk?

I am wondering if Biden will fight for Obama like Palin fights for McCain. So far, I haven’t seen much fight in him. Palin has been in the limelight for the past couple of weeks while Biden has been mostly, under the radar.

I guess perhaps Bidens approach is to just relax and stay out of the media as much as possible. Mabey he is patiently waiting for an opportune time? He is more experienced than Palin, so he must have a plan.

Course Clinton ignored Bin Laden, and thought the 1993 World Trade Center bombing should be handled by law enforcement.

Senator Biden to Quit, Hillary to Become Obama’s VP?
By Sean Osborne Friday, September 12, 2008

12 SEPTEMBER 2008: This report may be be breaking news of immense national political importance as a direct result of what the NEIN Blog has previously described as “The Palin Effect.”

According to a an exclusive source close to the Northeast Intelligence Network, the possibility exists for a major change to the Democrat presidential campaign of Barack Obama. Our source, citing other highly reliable sources, states that Senator Joe Biden will withdraw as the Democrat Vice-Presidential candidate, possibly due to some imminent medical emergency. These sources go on to state that negotiations have occured between Barack Obama and Bill Clinton to replace Senator Biden on the ticket with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

October Surprise Hillary Clinton? Joe Biden Gaffes and the Bush Doctrine
    by Marc Centanni

Then yesterday, Biden attracted attention for telling a crowd in New Hampshire that Sen. Hillary Clinton “might have been a better pick” as Obama’s running mate.

“Make no mistake about this,” Biden said. “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me.”

The latest rash of national polls, available on realclearpolitics.com, gives the same result as those from the last few days: McCain-Palin is up 3-4 points over Obama-Biden. While one or two of these polls might well have been fixed by exaggerating the proportion of Republicans questioned, the overall picture is far too clear and consistent to be the result of such manipulation. The enduring advantage Obama enjoyed over McCain since people got to know him better is gone.

I would bet some Dems here agree with this:

Come on Joe. Hillary would have been a better pick for President if the tail had not been wagging the dog. The blacks who were are more than 25% of the Democrat Party, engineered a coup that does not sit well with the overall American voting public.

After all, Obama is a black racist nurtured for some 20 years by his mentor, hate-monger Rev. Wright, “God Damn America” Rev. Wright. Hate whitey. Hate Jews. Obama also chose friendly association with the other black racist group, the Black Muslim Nation of Islam led by Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Obama is a rabble rousing street agitator seeking to extort material goods for blacks from provident people, and threating disruption and chaos if the demands were not met.

Obama is an associate of people such as “Bomber Bill” Ayers, the domestic terrorist, who is so hateful to America.

The unifying thread is that Obama and people who hate America, Wright, Farrakhan, Aters, are “simpatico.”

Obama sees the world from a ghetto perspective, a prism that largely limits his focus to race, rather than recognizing the diverse nature of the world.

And Obama is personally very flawed. His characteristics are those of a child abandoned by a father and by an unbalanced peripatetic mother, a man who is trying to exert control. Obama is a crackhead with all of the brain damage associated with use of crack cocaine. His extemperaneous comments reveal his addled thinking. He is a narcissist, whose narcissism is reinforced by his elevation on the political scene, and his delusional thinking further endowing himself with even greater imagined virtues and powers. He is bordering on psychosis. He is at best suffering from borderline personality disorder. But then, he’s not in a clinical setting.

The public can watch Obama’s posturing and subtle clues are found that identify him as an empty suit.

Put Hillary on the ticket. But replace Obama, not Biden. Biden is a tried and true warhorse with his feet on the ground. Biden is sane. Obama is severely disturbed.

Put Ms Hillary on the ticket. Replace Obama.

Try using the term “raising the question” instead.

    Maggotpunk,

You should learn to deal with the reality that you are simply outclassed in any discussion between you and I.

The only thing you have on your side is to bring up irrelevant topics to try to make fun of me with or to make some snide personal comment.

    That is all you got.

You can’t even use logical terms correctly in a discussion with me and you atempt to imply that I don’t read books?

Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll answer your incredibly stupid question.

    Yes, I do read books.

The fact is Nathan you are so stupid you don’t know you’ve been pwned. I could spend all night pointing out how moronic you are but I just need to remind you that you believe in a 6,000 year old Earth. That pretty much dispels any notion that you have a grasp on reality.

“Why couldn’t he explain that he needed to handle a problem, and then calmly walk out of the classroom?”

And do what cosmos, he had no real information at that point.
I would venture to guess how you would have handled it though….you would have started crying and promptly defecated in your pants, while screaming “too much CO2, I can’t breath, there’s too much CO2!!!”

    Maggotpunk,

Once again, what does my belief in a Young Earth have to do with this discussion?

Attacking me personally instead of sticking to the topic only shows weakness on your part and your argument here.

Obviously you feel so threatened by your complete inability to have a discussion with me that you must introduce irrelevant things to the discussion in an attempt to attack me.

That is the classic lgocial fallacy of argumentum ad hominem.

As I said, you are simply outclassed in a discussion with me. The sad thing is that you are not man enough to admit it or simply don’t care.

Wasn’t it more like 14 minutes that Bush sat with the deer in the head light look doing nothing while the country was under attack? Theirs a quite the gap in response between doing nothing and pants pissing/arm flailing screaming “were all gonna die” A sorry kids something came up probably would have sufficed. Lots of thing he could have done a phone call to the joint chiefs, find out whats going on, get in the loop, call his family make sure their OK, give the Air force Authority to shoot down civilian planes, finding out id Martial Law needed to be implemented, or order evocations, getting to a TV and Watching the news would have at least showed some curiosity. And lets not forget that he went to the school knowing that a plane had already hit one of the towers.

Nathan, perhaps you could go to the corner store and pick up some tissue. It still won’t help with your scientific illiteracy or inability to grasp basic concepts of reality. It must be painful to wake up every morning realizing that you are on the lower end of the bell curve.

  66. Posted September 13, 2008 at 5:37 pm | Permalink

    Correct, TomP.

That’s been the right-wing talking point for 7 years now–”what was he supposed to do, run screaming from the room?!”

    Yes.

He was supposed to get up off his dead ass and get going.

    It’s called leadership.

The RepubliCONs wouldn’t know it if it hit them in the face.

BTW, why does God hate Houston?

    MaggotPunk is correct.

Anyone capable of deluding themself that the Earth is only 10 thousand years old instead of the correct scientific age of 4.5 billion years old is not worth talking to.

That’s why I just put him on ignore.

    Maggotpunk,

I already have tissue right here. No need to go to the store. I have had a runny nose the last few days.

Again, what does that have to do with the subject?

    Scientific Leteracy:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_literacy

So, please tell me exactly, why you think I am scientifically illiterate for my beliefs?

I “grasp” the “basic” concepts just fine. I simply don’t believe some of the things that others do.

My mother is a Chiropractor. I hardly ever wake up in any pain and when I do I simply go see her for an adjustment.

What does the bell curve have to do with this discussion and how does one end up on the lower end of it in such a general sense?

    Please explain.

    CapnAmerica,

You realize that you are talking with someone who denies the existence of any God don’t you?

Here you are, someone who claims to believe in God, yet you denounce me for what I believe?

How many times must I point out to you that for you to believe in God that at some point you do not believe in what science says either.

By your own standards you are not worth talking to either. You should ignore yourself.

    Liberals are amazing.
They criticize Bush, for the way Bush has SUCCESSFULLY defended America.
    Yet —
Liberals support Obama, who’s friend, former boss and political supporter is terrorist William Ayers, who was in an article, in the New York Times, on 9-11-01, saying he had not “done enough” bombing of buildings.
    William Ayers bombed the Pentagon.
William Ayers and Obama are close friends.

At the same time that those airplanes hit the World Trade Center, there were copies of the New York Times newspapers, being read, in those buildings, which contained the article about terrorist William Ayers! Ayers BRAGGED about his bombings. Ayers was still bragging about blowing up 30 different buildings, long after 9-11-01.
