Now it’s John McCain’s turn to make his vice presidential pick. Dan Schnur, communications director for McCain’s 2000 campaign, is arguing for Sen. Joe Lieberman. His reasons include Lieberman’s foreign policy experience and his close relationship to McCain. But one of his main arguments is that Lieberman would allow McCain to be a maverick again, which he hasn’t been for most of this campaign. “There is nothing that John McCain treasures more dearly than his nonconformist reputation, the idea that he’s a different breed of politician,” Schnur wrote.
However, several of McCain’s campaign advisers said last week that McCain was unlikely to pick a running mate who wasn’t pro-life.

Joe Lieberman’s so screwed up as to which party he belongs, I suspect he has a problem remembering which sex he is.
McCain is a maverick. He uses his history as a veteran for his personal gain while voting against veterans issues. I suppose hypocrite would be a more accurate description. LIEberman would be a good compliment. Why not select a VP candidate who, like McCain, gladly would sell out his principles for political and financial gain.
If McCain picks the garden gnome, he’ll lose. If he picks Romney he has an outside chance.
Multiple-Choice Mitt is probably the only contender who has as many houses as McSame. He’s also the only one who has flip-flopped as much as McBush.
Face it, the repervlicans are running a lousy corrupt candidate who will pick a worthless VP.
McCain’s choice will be, IMO, quite important. Does he try to move toward the center with someone like Lieberman (liberal on everything except war policy) or does he shore up his right flank with someone like Romney.
Now, if he could get someone like Chuck Hagel then that would be a REAL maverick!
Sucks to be McCain.
He HAS to know. Those on his side of things want him to pick a favorable VP and then die in office.
How can McCain choose Romney? Didn’t he just release two campaign ads telling everyone howwrong it was that Obama chose a critic as his running mate? You mean McCain could be so disingenuous, hypocritical and stupid to turn right around and choose his biggest critic as his running mate? C’mon! Isn’t McCain honorable? Does he really “do” differently than he “says?”
Some of Romney’s comments about McCain:
“It’s a calculated move that McCain will take because he’s backed almost everything Bush has done.”
“He’s virtually indistinguishable from Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama on a number of major issues our country faces,”
“If you look at the people who are conservative leaders…they’re pointing out that Sen. McCain would represent a pretty dramatic departure from conservative principles on a whole host of issues,”
“I think it does make sense to have a candidate representing our party whose positions are distinctly different from the Democratic potential nominees.”
“We cannot let our party take that left turn. If we become so much like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama that on key issues we’re indistinguishable, we’re not going to win the White House.”
“He voted against the Bush tax cuts. Twice…. That’s failing Reagan 101,”
“Senator McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts. Now he’s for them. He was opposed to ethanol. Now he’s for it. He said he was opposed to overturning Roe v. Wade. Now he’s for overturning Roe v. Wade,” Romney said, adding: “That suggests that he has learned from experience.”
I think people recognize that he’ll say anything to get the presidency. It’s been something that he’s been campaigning for well, probably a decade or more, and it’s within his grasp almost. And then all of a sudden this guy Mitt Romney stands up and I’m in his way. And he’s going to say whatever he has to…”
“I just don’t think he has a grounding in how the economy works.”
Mitt Romney is accusing Republican rival John McCain of adopting the type of underhanded tactics that Romney says Richard Nixon would have used.
Video: Romney Says McCain’s A Lying Sack Of…
http://patdollard.com/2008/01/video-romney-says-mccains-a-lying-sack-of/
Whoever McCain chooses for his running mate, we will have an excellent chance of being able to find negative comments made by that person about McCain. Romney isn’t his only critic! Yet, the first reaction made to Obama’s running mate choice was to run campaign ads about how wrong it was to chose a critic! Never looking beyond now to ONE WEEK in the future and the affect his reaction might have on his own choice.
So old McCain is quite reactionary and doesn’t look beyond the reaction to the consequences.
NOT an attribute for POTUS!
bomb bomb bomb Iran (and several other countries!)
I don’t care for either candidate, but maybe McCain could ALSO pick Biden, Biden appears to like him…. LOL
—
In two separate television interviews in the spring of 2004, Biden suggested the best way to bring unity to a divided nation was for the then-Democratic presidential candidate, John Kerry, to select McCain as his running mate.
“I think John McCain would be a great candidate for vice president. I mean it. I know John doesn’t like me saying it, but the truth of the matter is, it is,” Biden told Tim Russert of NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Only a few months earlier, Chris Matthews of MSNBC TV’s “Hardball” asked Biden if he thought McCain would consider joining Kerry on a “fusion ticket.”
“I think that this is time for unity in this country, and maybe it is time to have a guy like John McCain – a Republican – on the ticket with a guy he does like. They do get along,” answered Biden, “and they don’t have fundamental disagreements on major policies.”

A whole lot of arm flailing going on by duh Libs this morning.
samkan, there is a DISTINCT difference between the John McCain of today and the one you speak of in your post! Guess ones viewpoint would first need to determine which McCain is running for POTUS. There was a time when I wold have voted for McCain, but that was a very different man than the one running in 2008.
Obama should have picked Rush Limbaugh.
That would be “balanced” huh?
You libs are funny sometimes.
I would love it if Mitt Romney were the pick.
However, I think McCain really wants to win, and he is going to pick someone who can actually deliver an important state.
Michigan ?
Minnesota ?
Pennsylvania ?
Romney might help in Michigan.
The fact is, Romney would also help in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Montana and Idaho. The Rocky Mountain states are in play more than they should be, right now.
Then again, McCain could pick a woman!
That would be funny.
No matter what, I do not see McCain picking someone who will cause Convention trouble.
McCain has spent a great deal of time with Tom Ridge, in Erie PA. I hope that is for a cabinet post.
“New kind of politician” McCain
“Politics of the past” Obama
Both McCain and Obama have to face reality.
America is a center-right country. We will not elect a Marxist, so Obama has to get rid of some of his radical friends.
Republicans win by keeping their base happy, and then by pulling over some Independents, and Democrats, on the issues.
Saul Alinsky, in “Rules for Radicals” says that “neighborhood organizers” should “rub raw the resentments” of the group they are organizing.
In other words, Obama was trained to “listen” to his group (Usually a CHURCH congregation. Obama was hired by leftist Jewish organizers who could not get into Black churhes, in Chicago, to organize them, politically.)
Obama only “listened” so that he could put HIS predetermined message in terms that his current audience could understand. The end result was alwasy the same: “Someone is to blame for your problems. Vote Democrat”.
Obama went into politics telling his fellow “neighborhood organizers” that he wanted to use the same tactics, to win elections. To Obama, politics is a type of showmanship and salesmanship. Know what you want, from the start. Ask the people what they want. Tell the people that, to get what they want, they need YOU! (No matter what the people say.)
Ridge just might be the best pick McCain could make.
Ridge would be a disaster.
Ridge was pro nuclear freeze.
Ridge is pro choice on abortion.
Ridge came up with the color coding “threat levels” that you liberals loved to poke fun at, as Homeland Security chief.
Ridge would probably cause a revolt, on the floor of the convention. Even if the convention went for the idea, McCain would go down in flames. McCain can not afford to tick off his base, any more than Obama can afford to tick off his base.
I think the Senator from Israel would make a fine v.p. Bring him on!
What you Pukes can never understand is that the Democrats don’t have a base. (Except for me) What they have is a coalition.

Go screw a helium-filled love doll, asshole.
“We will not elect a Fascist, so McCain has to get rid of some of his radical friends.”
Franklin,
Lots of nonsense from you this morning. To wit:
“America is a center-right country.”
Yeah–one that wants its Social Security, a workable health care system, and renewable energy sources. So just keep pushing the “Obama is a communist line”–it just makes you look even more stupid.
You also said this:
“Then again, McCain could pick a woman!
That would be funny.”
Thanks for reminding us Franklin, yet again (as if we needed reminding), what it looks like when a bigoted Republican blowhard tries to make a joke.
As for the upthread analysis, stopped clock HLP is probably right on the money, although I think Romney is a toxic, toxic pick with regards to the Fundo Christian base. They hate Romney for being an apostate as much as they hate Lieberman for refusing to accept Jesus as his personal Lord and savior.
I, for one, hope it’s Romeny: he’s already something of a joke, and having a net worth of $202 million would give the Republican ticket a net worth of one third of $1 billion. Kind of takes the discussion of who is “elite” to a whole other level.
ben
Which “radical friends” are you talking about?
Nothing can compare to Obama’s list of nut case friends.
The Reverend Wright is just for starters.
Then there is Louis Farrakhan
Then there is Bill Ayers, who bombed the Pentagon, and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn.
“Kill all rich people, Break up their cars and apartments, Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where its at, really” Bill Ayers.
Following the Charles Manson murders of the Tate family, this is what Dohrn had to say, “Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!”
Of course, Sharon Tate was 8.5 months pregant.
No, Ben, McCain has nothing that even comes close to the gang of radicals that Obama has been associated with, his entire adult life.
Franklin,
“McCain can not afford to tick off his base, any more than Obama can afford to tick off his base.”
You’re correct; that’s why McCain loses whoever he picks. Lieberman and Romney are anathema to the base for basically the same reasons, Ridge for a different set of reasons.
Seriously. Obama made one hell of a smart VP pick. I think McCain’s lack of choices directly reflects the paucity of the Republican Presidential pool.
Does he try to move toward the center with someone like Lieberman (liberal on everything except war policy) or does he shore up his right flank with someone like Romney.
Liberal on everything except war policy? Uh, right.
Lieberman was first elected to the United States Senate as a Democrat in the 1988 election, by a margin of 10,000 votes. He scored the nation’s biggest political upset that year, after being backed by a coalition of Democrats and unaffiliated voters with support from conservative Republicans, who were disappointed in three-term Republican incumbent Lowell Weicker’s moderate voting record and personal style.
**
“Affirmative action is dividing us in ways its creators could never have intended.”, he said.
**
Lieberman was one of four Senate Democrats to side with Republicans in 1995 in voting to limit punitive damage awards in product liability cases.
**
In February 2005, breaking ranks with fellow Senate Democrats, Lieberman voted for the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005, S. 5, which is a bill to curtail the ability of plaintiffs to file class action lawsuits against corporations in federal courts.
**
Lieberman championed experimental voucher programs, which would redirect some education funding directly to parents, who could apply it towards paying for the public or private school of their choice.
**
With Lynne Cheney, Richard Lamm, Saul Bellow, and others, Lieberman co-founded the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA), a controversial educational organization which released the post-9/11 report titled “Defending Civilization: How Our Universities Are Failing America and What Can Be Done About It” that criticized universities for evidence of anti-Americanism.
**
On November 29, 2005, Lieberman co-sponsored the Family Entertainment Protection Act, which was introduced by Hillary Clinton, S.2126. The act is intended to protect children from what he says is inappropriate content found in video games. He has denounced the violence contained in video games and has attempted to regulate sales of violent video games to minors, arguing that games should have to be labeled based upon age-appropriateness.
**
Lieberman supported the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and continues to do so.
**
Lieberman also voted for the Central America-United States-Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) in 2005.
**
Lieberman supports the Alberto Gonzales policy memo on the application of provisions of the Geneva Conventions. He believes “the decision was, in my opinion, a reasonable one, and ultimately a progressive one.” He agrees with Gonzales in describing certain provisions of Geneva Conventions, specifically “that a captured enemy be afforded such things as commissary privileges, script advances of monthly pay, athletic uniforms and scientific instruments” as “quaint”. He also agrees with the legal decision that al Qaeda’s members “were not entitled to prisoner of war status.”
Lieberman does have some progressive positions, but they are largely eclipsed by a record of reactionary positions.
If McCain picks him, it will be the final proof that people like me were right about him all along.
Obama’s brother lives in a one room shack with a dirt floor and no plumbing.
McCain makes sure his family, including an Aunt, have a place to live.
Obama’s friend, who he writes about in his book, could not get Obama to take his calls anymore, after he got out of prison.
As Obama says, “Whatsoever you do, for the least of my BROTHERS, That you do unto ME!”
CF
YOU are a bigot:

I have many friends in just about every religion.
I know of very, very few Christians who are the least bit “anti-Jewish” — In fact, most of my Anti-Jewish friends are either Arab or belong to a rather liberal Christian faith.
Conservative Christians are, generally, very pro-Israel.
McCain could pick Condaleeza. That’d throw things into a tizzy.
The McCains increased their budget for household employees from $184,000 in 2006 to $273,000 in 2007, according to John McCain’s tax returns.
The additional cash supports an “increase in the number of employees,” the McCain aide told Politico. The aide did not answer a question about whether the growing staff stemmed from addition of new properties to the family’s real estate portfolio.

A quarter of a million dollars a year on servants.
Wow. Who knew one could live so well on a government salary . . .
Condi would be great.
Condi could tell us all how Obama caused ethnic cleansing in Kenya, by supporting a tyrant who called “election fraud” after he lost.
The, mass murders, executions, and gang rapes occured, led by Obama’s Luo tribe members.
Condi had to get Obama to tape a Voice of America message, asking for calm and peace, since the Luo tribe, and Odinga, who Obama had supported, refused to ask for calm, and actuallly led the attacks.
How much you wanna bet that the guy who doesn’t know exactly how many houses he owns also has a couple of illegal immigrants on the payroll?
THAT would steam off his base, wouldn’t it.
Long Term Care, in a nursing home, can easily cost $60,000.00 a year or more.
If you can afford to take care of such people at home, that is a good thing.
McCain uses his real estate to take care of people.
Obama lets his brother live in a one room shack with a dirt floor and no plumbing.
Obama’s 3 AM Text Message: Jab at Hillary?
Barack Obama didn’t pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate. No surprise here. But the timing of his announcement — early Saturday morning at 3 a.m. — has some in the Clinton camp downright angry.
Obama had claimed he was vetting Hillary for the job and that she was on the short list of his potential picks. But that charade became apparent when he never asked her for financial or other documents typical of the vetting process
The tea leaves have been clear: Obama was not going to pick Hillary. In a slap in her face, Obama announced that he was making her fired campaign manager, Patti Solis Doyle, as the chief of staff for his new running mate.
Some in the press saw another Obama jab at Hillary when his campaign released the text message to cell phone users announcing the Biden pick at about 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
It was Hilary’s campaign that aired a TV commercial questioning whether Obama could answer the phone at “3 a.m.” if some crisis erupted in the world.
Hillary has taken these hits from Obama with grace. She issued a statement via her email list Satuday congratulating Biden.
“Joe is a friend and colleague, a strong experienced leader and a devoted public servant. I look forward to not only seeing him in Denver next week but on the trail as I work to help Barack Obama and Joe Biden along with many other Democratic candidates campaign this fall.”

———————
Actually, that’s part of my old line.
What do Obama and Osama have in common?
They both have friends who bombed the Pentagon.
Whether ‘center-right’ or ‘center-left’ America IS a ‘center’ country. The battleground for the election will be the voters in the middle; not likely at the edges.
There are exceptions to this rule – notably 2000 when Al Gore lost about 3% to Ralph Nader. That seems less likely this year – as much as I would LOVE to see a rightie third party bid.
McCain will pick Brownback or that Minnesote Governor guy.
I think Linda has a point that McCain will be hardpressed to pick a close rival. Although Biden’s critique that Obama does not have enough experience to be a good President is more telling and less forgiving than just disagreeing with the guy as McCain’s critics have expressed.
However, Capn, brings up the only valid point to date. A candidate who does not know how many houses he owns does not go over well with the GOP base. Republicans are sick and tired of presidents who do not know how many houses they own. They will not vote in November. Democrats really have a winner with this one. Its HUGE! A real game changer!!!
I’d laugh my tail off if he picked Hillary!!
Will condi like mccain’s pick as much as she likes obama’s?
Today she said Biden was a patriot.

In fact, Obama has so much power over the Luo tribe, that Condi Rice used Obama, in a VOA broadcast, to ask for peace.
By the way, the man that Obama supported, Odinga, signed an “agreement” with the radical Moslems of the area. Odinga is a Marxist and also promised to promote Moslems in his government.
Odinga lost. And then, the riots started and the gang rapes started and the Christian church burning started.
Until — the winner finally had to accept a “coalition government” —
Obama injected himself DEEPLY into the politics of Kenya, and Obama was responsible for the problems that caused.
Lieberman pick would also have the added benefit of keeping the facts straight when mccain’s brain gets addled.

By the way, “Recreate 68″ is kind of funny to think about.
Bernadine Dohrn, wife of Bill Ayers, was charged with instigating the riots during the 1968 Democrat National Convention in Chicago.
Several of their Weathermen friends were later killed, when bombs they were building exploded in an Greenwich Village town house where they were being built.
Ayers actually participated in 30 bombings.
The FBI used illegal wiretaps to catch Dohrn and Ayers. By the time they were arrested, they were married. Most of the charges had to be dropped.
However, Dohrn was convicted of seperate, local charge. That felonly conviction means that, while Dohrn can TEACH law students, she can not sit for the Bar Exam!

Can you point out in advance if you detect any “thinking” in one of his posts? I’ve used the advantage of nic first for quite some time now!
Kenyan Government calls Obama ’stooge’ for Odinga.
Odinga and Obama are from the same Kenyan tribe.
In 2006 Obama took a trip to Kenya and voiced his support for his fellow tribesman and political ally, Odinga.
Obama also directly attacked the sitting Kenyan leadership (Kibaki) calling them ‘corrupt’ (Kenya is one of the most stable places in Africa).
Odinga is the cat that ran on the socialist democrat ticket in Kenya and lost to sitt More..ing president Kibaki.
The people that are burning christians alive, trapped inside churches are Odinga supporters…Odinga (and most of his fanatical followers) are a Muslims who have pushed for Sharia Law, total banning of other religions and closing of co-ed schools, night clubs and ‘public dressing style considered immoral’.
Here is a 2006 report on that trip to Kenya:
Obama’s Criticism Irks Kenyan Government
Government Says Obama Is A Stooge For Political Opposition
by Mike Flannery
(CBS) There are signs of tension between Sen. Barack Obama and African leaders. On Monday, Obama stepped up his criticism of government corruption in Kenya.
But as CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reports, the government fired back, saying Obama is a stooge for an opposing political party.
A surprise raid that seized and burned copies of Kenya’s oldest newspaper, The Standard, still prompts journalists there to call last March 2 the darkest day in the more than 100 years they’ve been publishing.
“For us as an institution, I think it was the lowest point in the history of this newspaper,” News Editor Douglas Okwatch said.
It was because of that raid that Sen. Barack Obama went to the Standard’s offices. He declared that democracy can’t work without freedom of the press and freedom of information.
“It is not just a loss for the Standard. It’s a loss for the people of Kenya. So my hope is that this is one episode that won’t be repeated,” Obama said.
At the University of Nairobi two hours later, the senator offered more pointed criticism, something he’s done almost every day since arriving last week. After remaining largely silent, the government of President Mwai Kibaki is beginning to respond, suggesting that Obama may have fallen under the spell of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
A potential presidential candidate himself, Odinga’s been at Obama’s elbow here fairly often and is a member of the Obama family’s Luo tribe.
“Sen. Obama has to look at critically about where he’s receiving his advice from,” said government spokesman Dr. Alfred Mutua. “Just because somebody, somewhere wants to run for president and is using Sen. Obama as his stooge, as his puppet to be able to get to where he wants to get to.”

You libs can not handle the truth.
Ayers IS a campaign issue.
Odinga IS a campaign issue.
My “job” on this Blog, is to help predict the response from the left, for my “masters” in the “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” —
So far, it looks like you have no response!
Heheheheh Linda. Yeah, but I’m a sucker for political comedy. But really, I’m starting to worry about his mental health. I always thought he was a wingnut. Now I’m thinking he’s just a NUT!
OMG! ALERT THE MEDIA!
They both used change as their campaign themes!
Like I said, the lunatic republicans want us to believe obama just emerged from the jungle with a bone in his nose…
Paulie, it’s so stupid I cant even think of anything stupid enough to use as a clever response!
I love the smell of republican desperation in the air.
Spin away paulie. I’m off to make bacon and fresh tomato sandwiches for brunch. With a side of homemade ‘tater salad made with homegrown ‘taters and onions!
No KFG
Obama is a well trained Marxist.
What do you think “Community Organizers” do?
The entire concept was invented by Marxists. Obama was recruited because those Marxists, in the Saul Alinsky school of activism, could not get into the Black Churches of Chicago.
Obama’s job was to get the Black Churches, in Chicago, politically organized for leftist causes.
Call me crazy all you want, but the facts and history are on my side.
Hell, just scroll upwards, lol.
Ben, the most lettered genious on this Blog, did not even know that Obama’s friend, Bill Ayers, had written a book bragging about bombing the Pentagon!!
And you call me crazy?
Insults from you loons are, actually, a very high complement to any rational person.
ksfg – how about sending some of that my way!
Good afternoon everyone.
Franklin, I thought I was the spy from the liberals posing as a libertarian. Your stories are starting to get a bit entangled.
I think I will make a second point on this post. Multiple points on the same post will bring out those charming “Arm Flailing” remarks.
Paul – as I recall the United States State Department said much the same thing about the Kenya election that Obama said.
KFG
Stick with serving good food.
You are good at that.
We all have our callings.
Obama’s brother lives in a one room shack with a dirt floor and no plumbing.
Gee, Paul, if you think Barack’s Kenyan half-brother is so mistreated, why don’t you ask him?
He said that he was furious at subsequent reports that he had been abandoned by the Obama family and that he was filled with shame about living in a slum. “It seems there are people who want to destroy me and my family,” he said.
“They say I live on a dollar a month, but this is all lies by people who don’t want my brother to win.” He said that he was supported by his mother, Jael, who now lives in the US, and by a cousin in Huruma.

Ben
Both sides made mistakes, in Kenya.
However, the fact remains, The church burning, the gang rapes, the ethnic cleansing were all done by supporters of Odinga, Obama’s endorsed candidate.
So, Paul, ANYTHING done by a supporter of a candidate you support is your fault. Glad to know that.
“but this is all lies by people who don’t want my brother to win.”
Hmmm … I wonder who would hate Obama enough to do that …
Ben
What is Obama’s brother supposed to say?
His ONLY chance of ever getting out of his one room shack with a dirt floor and no plumbing, is to kiss up to Obama.
Where is the money in going against his name-sake?
Hey, good question. Let me check the flights to Kenya! I am sure I could find some backers!
Obama and Odinga’s supporters, in the Luo tribe, knew they would not win the election, and they made plans for violence, after the election:
“With all due respect to those who have lost their lives in the Kenya post election violence, it would also be objective to consider the opposition’s side of the story. This link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/kenya/story/0,,2234216,00.html provides us a reminder that the Kenyan press warned the public a few weeks back that some people were buying large quantities of machetes from supermarkets prior to the elections.”

Interesting that they reference bombing a statue but not the Pentagon.
I think Franklin’s Tinfoil hat is cutting off he blood to his brain
Abused family members stick up for the abuser all the time Ben.
Just watch a single episode of “Cops”
Where did the article say that Obama helped plan the violence?
Cindy McCain’s half-sister appeals to be acknowledged
When Cindy McCain talks about growing up, she usually refers to herself as an “only child” — a phrase that ignores the existence of her half-sisters.
“It’s terribly painful,” Kathleen Hensely Portalski said. “It is as if she is the ‘real’ daughter. I am also a real daughter.”

Ben
Obama’s judgement is in question.
Obama supported a genocidal criminal, Odinga.
So, no matter what he says you will spin it to your use. Not surprising from a person responsible for the lies against be in the 1994 election. And Paul, you ARE responsible since they came from people who endorsed the Republican candidate. (using your logic above)
Paul, according to the United States State Department he won the election and the violence was both sides.

“It’s terribly painful,” Kathleen Hensely Portalski said. “It is as if she is the ‘real’ daughter. I am also a real daughter.”

Please continue your lecture on family values, Paul.
—————————–
I wasn’t aware that Cindy McCain was on the ticket as running for President.
Irrelevant, over ruled.
Rage – half-sisters don’t count – just half-brothers.
Ben, given that you refuse to denounce ANYONE on the left, and given that you defended even the radical Bill Ayers, above, I am thinking that you had a similar, knee jerk defense of every left wing nutty group out there, when you ran for office.
Thats OK.
This is how Republicans win.
Say what? So your claim that I was gay was OK? That is how Republicans win?
And by the way – I did not defend nutcase Ayers. I just questioned the accuracy of your specific allegation. I have never met the man.
I wasn’t aware that Cindy McCain was on the ticket as running for President.
Irrelevant, over ruled.
No. . . .she just controls 90+ percent of the McCain couples’ wealth.
But none of this has squat to do with who’s qualified to be president.
I wasn’t aware that Cindy McCain was on the ticket as running for President.
Neither is Obama’s half-brother.
“I am thinking that you had a similar, knee jerk defense of every left wing nutty group out there, when you ran for office.”
Actually Paul, none of them ever came up. My main issue was the need to integrate post=secondary education by bringing together the Community Colleges, WSU, and Vo-Tech.
“This is how Republicans win.”
By YOUR assuming the role of blog fool paulie?
I really do not want to vote for Barack Obama.
But ya may yet talk me into it paulie!
2 hours off topic. Is that a record? 2 hours of banter concerning Kenya, Obama’s brother, Ayers, Cindy McCain and KFGM’s Bacon Sandwiches.
Hopefully I am wrong in presuming that the topic of McCain’s choices is a bit of a raw nerve.
Actually, if he finally decides to “cowboy-up” and go back to being a maverick, he may have a good chance. Since it is clear that the NEOCONS hate Obama more than they would hate a maverick.
VET – it shows that there are those who don’t want to even think about who McCain might pick. As I noted above, i think he needs to choose ‘toward the middle’ rather than ‘toward the right’. Just my opinion …
Ben
Ayers is a rather large figure on the left.
You should have known his history.
You make an assumption that those on the left are all “good” — scientists should not make assumptions.
You make an assumption that those on the left are all “good”
No Paul, I do not make that assumption. That is another lie from you.
Obama Mentor, and Pentagon bomber Bill Ayers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP15wJl9YPo&eur
No regrets for bombing:
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F02E1DE1438F932A2575AC0A9679C8B63&sec=&spon=&pagewan
Bernandine Dohrn, terrorist and Obama mentor:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2yYXVmrj5A&feature=related
So the guy is a nutcase – never denied that. But the Pentagon? Still haven’t seen that.
Maybe when he bombed that statue he dreamed that it was the Pentagon.
Ben
YES you do. You make assumptions every day.
One of your assumptions is that liberals are all good people.
You have not even studied your own side.
I have fun here, posting stuff about liberals, knowing that you, the “learned scientist” will be totally clueless, and be hearing this information for the first time.
Ben, the quote I gave you, above, was out of Ayer’s own book.
In that book, Ayers brags about bombing the Pentagon.
Good Heavens, you are so poorly informed!
“One of your assumptions is that liberals are all good people.”
ANOTHER Paul lie!
Paul – then why do other sources not have the Pentagon bombing. As I noted – I think he is dreaming. He seems obsessed with his own self-importance.
Well, I suggest that you quit demanding “proof” and “links” then Ben.
But I know you won’t.
You try hard to disprove the stuff I say about liberals, and you always fail.
You always assume that your liberal side of the argument would never say the things I attribute to them.
And I always prove you wrong.
Ben
It is good that you don’t think much of Ayers.
However, Ayers is a close advisor to Obama, and helped Obama get his political career off the ground.
So McCain can pick anyone for his running mate (except William Ayers, Obama’s brother or Jeremiah Wright)
Since the NEOCONS hate Obama so much, they will vote “against Obama” or “For McCain” no matter what.
Since McCain has the base locked up (with the help of Obama) McCain can now start looking to the independents.
Found this:
” the Pentagon in 1972.” Of the day he bombed the Pentagon, Ayers says, “Everything was absolutely ideal. … The sky was blue. The birds were singing. And the bastards were finally going to get what was coming to them.”"
Yes – he brags. But did he do it? Why is there no refernce other than his own words.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers#Years_underground
I remember those days – scary. I was in one of the kinds of buildings (Chemistry) that had been targeted by Wethermen on other campuses so we were definitely concerned about security.
“However, Ayers is a close advisor to Obama,”
Is he?
Paul – with all of your lies about me I tend to not believe you when you make claims about others.
Ben
Ayers and Obama have served on boards together.
Ayers was involved, closely, with Obama’s early political campaigns.
type “Ayers Obama” into your browser
So, who will McCain pick? Will his mentor Hagee help decide? Or his mentor Parsley? Or his mentor Rush?
Maybe Paul will get to choose …
Type “Ayers Obama” into your browser
. . .on Google news archive search, and choose dates before 2008. Otherwise, you’ll get pages of rightwing blogspew.
Thanks Paul – the first link up …
“Texas billionaire Harold Simmons, a major backer of Republican John McCain’s presidential campaign and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth four years ago, is the sole donor to an advertisement attacking Democrat Barack Obama over his relationship with one-time radical activist William Ayers.
A campaign finance filing shows Simmons donated the entire $2.8 million being spent by a new group, American Issues Project, to air the commercials in Ohio and Michigan next week.”

bth,
Aren’t you getting dizzy following Paul’s circular “logic”?
Heheheheh. Freebird, we just keep hoping that as he spins faster and faster in ever tighter circles, he will eventually just screw himself into the ground…
I’m wondering if he gets paid by the word or by the rant?
My prediction is by Nov. all that will be seen of him is the top of his head. I hanen’t seen spin like that since my last case of the bed spins
Ben
Fact Check is predictably liberal.
Obama BEGAN his political career in the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.
When Democrat Mel Reynolds was forced out of office, due to an underage sex scandal, Alice Palmer, pro Soviet editor of the Black Press Review, named Barrack Hussein Obama as her successor. (Obama would later stab Palmer in the back).
Anyway, Palmer, the Soviet apologist, arranged a meeting between Obama, Ayers, Dohrn and other political supporters.
After that initial introduction, Ayers and Obama have worked together, as board members, on the Board of the liberal Woods Foundation.
Jean Rudd provided the money that that same Woods Foundation that Jerry Kellman used to recruit Obama in the first place, as a “Neighborhood Organizer”. Jean Rudd speaks very highly of Obama’s service on that Board.
Michelle Obama and Bernadine Dohrn, the convicted terrorist, and wife of Ayers, worked at the same law firm, Sidley Austin.
Terrorist Bill Ayers later started another charity, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and named B. Obama as the first Chairman of the Board of that Charity.
Of course, I have posted some recent video, above.
Obama friends Ayers and Dohrn have recently praised Communists Chou En Lai and Mao.
Obama friend and advisor Dohrn, refers to the US government as, “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world,” and says that living in America is living in, “the belly of the beast,” and, “the heard of the monster.”
These statements were made just recently, after Obama had been working with Dohrn and Ayers for several years.
“heart of the monster” is what Dohrn said about living in America
Franklin,
Should you be held accountable for associates words and deeds? If your answer is no then I think we a have a serious case of double standard going on
Freebird
What in hell has Obama done?
Obama has absolute zero accomplishments.
The only thing we can do, with Obama, is look at who he hangs around with.
Birds of a feather flock together.
Obama hangs around with nut case liberals.
Gasolina! Daddy Yankee Endorses McCain
PHOENIX — The high school girls standing on the risers behind Sen. John McCain looked like any high school girls would during a talk by someone Paris Hilton might describe as “a white-haired dude.” They clapped politely.
And then, when McCain introduced his special guest, they freaked out. They gasped. They put their hands over their mouths. They screamed.
Daddy Yankee, one of the country’s top Latino music stars, strode out, wearing mirrored sunglasses. A Puerto Rican reggaeton recording artist, he appeared next to McCain to endorse the Republican nominee and perhaps give him a boost with Hispanic voters.
Yet Yankee is also an odd match for the straight-laced McCain. His hit song, “Gasolina,” might appear at first to support McCain’s call for more offshore oil drilling. But the song is not an ode to the kind of energy McCain usually talks about. It is about hot women, sex and cars, whose meaning is far less innocent in Puerto Rican slang.
Attention will soon shift back to McCain’s choice of a vice presidential running mate. From the reaction this morning, if 16-year-old Latino girls could vote, McCain might have given more thought to a McCain-Yankee ticket.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/08/25/gasolina_daddy_yankee_endorses.html
Nice dodge of the question
I am not running.
Obama is running.
I am not running from my friends.
Obama IS running from his friends.
Real simple answer the question,I’m not talking about Obama or Mccain,I’m talking about your double standard. Kindly answer the question if you are able
“Birds of a feather flock together.
Obama hangs around with nut case liberals.”
Guilt by association eh paulie?
Just how was it you came to be recruited to assault people in public parks? Couldn’t be the crowd you hang with now could it? Yeah you will say that you turned them down and turned them in.
We can choose to believe you or not.
But clearly, some pretty nasty folks were looking for like minded thugs and they decided “Hey, let’s ask paulie!”
Freebird
Why?
Do journalists have give their resumes before they report?
Do journalists have to give credit and character references, before they report?
Bloggers do not need to do so, either.
When I run for office, my associations and my past might well be an issue.
Right now, they are not at issue, in any way shape or form.
Obama can not explain his radical associations or his radical past.
That IS the issue.
I don’t need to justify my question to you.
I was tryng to get him to admit he has a double standard when it comes to the candidates. My last statement was uncalled for to you
So Franklin gets to change the issue of the thread. I thought this thread was about McCain’s running mate.
Is Franklin Paul and is Paul Regular, help it is getting confusing
“Franklin” –
You’re trying too hard.
The only issue John S (for Senile) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) needs is that he was a POW.
Can’t keep track of how many houses he owns? It’s because he was a POW.
Wears $580 hand-made Italian loafers? Because he didn’t have shoes in the Hanoi Hilton.
Stole Solzhentyn’s (actually Chuck Colson’s) fictional “cross in the dust” story. Well, after all, it was a prison story.
Dumped his first wife and family to boink the Arizona Beer Queen. He was an ex-POW.
Says ABBA is his favorite rock group? It’s because he was a POW.
Considered a hot-head with a short fuse by fellow Congressmen and Senators — (REPUBLIC party congressmen and Senators! — who question his mental stability to be President. That’s because…you know.
You don’t need to bother cutting-and-posting fiction about Obama. McBush has a “Get out of Gaffe Free” card.
BJ
You pathetic loser.
You have admitted that you assaulted someone, with your garden hose.
On the other hand, I once commented that I had turned some REAL “gay bashers” into the police, after you libs made your typical “racist, sexist, homophobe” attacks against me.
I was asked for details, and I told you that, after I had arrested a shoplifter, and many had seen me in a huge scuffle, in the store, that some sick, twisted individuals wanted me to help them pick on gays. I told them at the time they approached me, that they were sick, and that they deserved to get THEIR asses kicked. I then told the police.
YOU, BJ, would never have the courage to stand up to anyone, if you found yourself outnumbered.
You are such a lowlife, BJ. It says much about the other liberals on this Blog that they never correct your terrible behavior.
No, I am not Regular.
sss
BOOM
WAH!
The sound shilly paulie makes when he implodes!
Freebird, in the eyes of Rimel/J R/BlueJay, everyone who is not a liberal is Regular.
Are you constipated, Paul?
” I had turned some REAL “gay bashers” into the police”
Do you mean the officers of the law?
Or the rock group?
Next Franklin will tell us when Obama was 8 he carried the satchel for Ayers. Ahh the smell of rw desperation! Invigorating.
Damn I am glad our side doesn’t have any prolls like paulie.
I swear, his left foot must be nailed to the floor. All he can do is keep circling himself backward and to the right!
Hey Freebird – It’s cheaper than some other methods I know of to get dizzy!
:)
How ya doing?
Boom?
Bill Ayers had his picture taken standing on an American flag.
Ayers did this to promote his book, “Fugitive Days” — Ayers was quoted, in the New York Times as saying, “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.”
Many copies, of that particular issue, were burried by the Twin Towers, as they sat in the newsstands.
The interview with Ayers, promoting his terrorist book, appeared in the 9/11/2001 issue!

No, I am not Regular.
OR normal, rational, well adjusted, socialized, competent, principled or remotely sane!
Where are the weathermen when America needs them?
Phantom
When Ayers stood on an American Flag and when Ayers said he had not blown up enough bombs:
Ayers was Obama’s BOSS!
Freebird – yes, Franklin is Paul (also AKA Econ101). And I am Ben.
HLP is Hank – let me know if you take him up on his lunch offer. I know him and his comments to you the other day are sincere.
BJ
You are an expert on what, exactly?
Not sanity.
Not much of anything else.
Great. Working with my sponsor, going to at least a meeting a day. Life is looking better every day. Going this afternoon and babysit the grandson which in itself is a daymaker. He’s 18 months and a ball of energy
Fraklinpaulie doesn’t just put the “kick me!”
sign on his back.
He’ll tie your shoes!
Once things settle down I plan on it.
maybe mc cain will run with the keating 5 again.
So many complaints from Regular, Nathaniel and Franklin. They constantly complained that the Blog “…was always about Obama. Nothing about McCain.”
Now we have a blog about McCain’s running mate and Franklin wants to talk about……..survey says………..OBAMA.
Well, that and the state of his “constitution.” I’ve heard Metamucil is safe but effective.
Most things I don’t agree with Hank on,but he seems to beable to put those kinds of things aside talk to you as one individual to another, really wish more people would be like that. I think this country would be the better for it
We do not know McCains VP pick.
Anything in that line will be speculation.
So, the thread drifted.
So what?
And he likes dogs …
;)
Drifted? It stayed on track until 8:52; was brought back on; then off at 9:22.
Actually, the thread is NOT off track at all.
The VP pick is, usually, the “attack dog” on the ticket.
I am not telling you who McCain’s VP pick will be – but I AM telling you what McCain’s VP pick will SAY!
Anything in that line will be speculation.
Yes, just like all the other speculation before Saturday.
There was a good idea above – he should pick a businessman – Charl;es Keating
http://www.realchange.org/mccain.htm
Another Obama radical?
Sam Graham-Felson.
This guy is a radical Marxist, and he is also on the Obama payroll as a paid blogger.
The number of people in Obama’s circle who hate the United States is huge. We have plenty to work with.
paid blogger? How can I get that job?
Who he will pick IS about the only thing remotely interesting about John McCain.
It’s like being served up a bowl of warm water. What CAN ya throw in it to make it appetizing?
Everyone seems to be a “radical Marxist” to “Franklin.”
It’s getting pretty absurd.
Certainly there’s a “moderate” Marxist somewhere in the mix.
;^)
So it’s safe to assume that McCain’s pick will NOT be a radical muslim marxist from Kenya.
Stream of consciousness:
Ayers, weathermen,Weathermen, patricia hearst,Patricia Hearst,stockholm syndrome,Stockholm syndrome,manchurian candidat,Manchurian Candidate,john mccain.
Good assumption VET.
A couple of other McCain mentors he might choose for VP:
“In 1995, McCain sent birthday regards, and regrets for not attending, to Joseph “Joe Bananas” Bonano, the head of the New York Bonano crime family, who had retired to Arizona. Another politician to send regrets was Governor Fife Symington, who has since been kicked out of office and convicted of 7 felonies relating to fraud and extortion. “
Another GOP Senator on McCain:
“”The thought of [McCain] being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.” — Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi, who has known McCain for 35 years.”
Maybe McCain will choose him!
“There would be a lot of people who would have to recalibrate their attitudes toward John,” said Sen. Robert F. Bennett (R-Utah), a supporter of Mitt Romney’s who has clashed with McCain.
Many Senate Republicans, even those who have jousted with McCain in the past, say their reassessment is underway. Sensing the increasing likelihood that he will be the nominee, GOP senators who have publicly fought with him are emphasizing his war-hero background and playing down past confrontations.
“I forgive him for whatever disagreements he has had with me. We can disagree on things, but I have great admiration for him,” said Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee who has often argued with McCain over government spending.
But others have outright rejected the idea of a McCain nomination and presidency, warning that his tirades suggest a temperament unfit for the Oval Office.
A former colleague says McCain’s abrasive nature would, at minimum, make his relations with Republicans on Capitol Hill uneasy if he were to become president. McCain could find himself the victim of Republicans who will not go the extra mile for him on legislative issues because of past grievances.
“John was very rough in the sandbox,” said former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), who is outspoken in his opposition to McCain’s candidacy. “Everybody has a McCain story. If you work in the Senate for a while, you have a McCain story. . . . He hasn’t built up a lot of goodwill.”
Santorum was a fierce advocate for the GOP’s social conservative wing — a group particularly hostile to McCain because of his apostasy on immigration and same-sex marriage — while Cochran is considered one of the more genteel senators. Both men back Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, for president.
The question is Ben, who will help McCain appeal to the independents now that Obama has given him a chance?
You know, someone who will help McCain win the Hillary voters.
I bet mccain has a very short short list with which to work with.
Mccain presidency might be good for America, many repubs. might reach across the isle. Most likely not, they’d probably sell their souls to the party like our infamous senator.
Ron Paul.
Who does everyone think he’ll pick?
I think Romney.
Republicans and military men on John McCain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdJUCU1UH2w
I have any number of adjectives for Joe Lieberman.
“Maverick” is not among them
The title of this thread is almost funny if you say it a few times.
How about Fred Thompson?
Will McCain pick a talking brick?
Bob Dole?
Rudy Giulliani.
Can you imagine a debate between Giulliani and Biden?
Is this the Topic where the Libs Sum Up the positions of Obama on this issues?
the issues?
Wrong thread Max. Go to the Obama thread and complain that there aren’t enough McCain threads.
Then talk about Obama on this one.
OHHHHH THE IRONY!!!!!!!!
I’m Bob Dole and I don’t work with candy asses like McCain. I am Bob Dole and I would whop that Obama in a mad game of B-Ball!
I am Bob Dole and I approve this message.
BlueJay, your son had better be finished with shining my shoes! He doesn’t want to make Bob Dole mad.
P.S. You did a half assed job on my lawn.
When I saw men in black, and the checkout rags were used as pointers to aliens, I chuckled. When franklame saw the same movie, he took it as gospel. That is quite obvious when one reads his posts. All the more reason to chuckle.
“Is this the Topic where the Libs Sum Up the positions of Obama on this issues?”
No this is the thread where the libs ask are you better off under republican rule?
Do you feel better served by a party that pays lip service to values while enforcing few regulations and promoting crony capitalism?
Are you better off now than in 2000? Are your prospects brighter? Satisfied with the direction of the country?
VET – did you become a radical Marzist while in the military? And a Muslim sympathizer while in Iraq?
I think Obama needs to come out and state what he’ll not do, and what he’ll undo!
“Who does everyone think he’ll pick?”
I will bet my virginity that it will be Romney.
As much as I hate to diss my man, this is just too good, given this thread. P.S. cons. This is the last break you’ll ever get from me.
http://www.obama.com/
I became a hedonist VAGitarian (that’s not a typo) and a dirtbag. Not a scumbag, dirtbag. There is a difference. I have ethics. All of the women that I lied to trying to seduce were OVER 21 BY GUM. I HAVE PRINCIPLES.
This is the difference between Mark Foley and Bill Clinton. You see, Monica was over 21, so Clinton was a dirtbag. Foley, scumbag.
Now, don’t be confused. The homosexuality is not the issue. We need more gay men. So there are more chicks for me.
But I like Monkey’s defiition of us: The middle aged IT cranks who smoke weed and don’t like paying taxes.
The proper word is gynohedonism. Please pass on your tips concerning seduction by gum. I had no idea it would work with women over 21.
Thank you.
Over 21, legally drinking, alcohol, But it does require some instances with your face being slapped. My experience was about 8 face slaps per one success.
Now if you hold your face after the slap, and say “ah, it’s good to be back in America” then it might get you a follow up chance. Depending on the alcohol. Watch to see laughter afterwards.

By the way I tried to include a diverse sample of Republican quotes, but I had to place a 2 quote limit on Dan Qualye, and George W. Bush or else they would have swept the entire top 20.

Everyone makes speaking errors.
It does not always indicate intelligence or lack there of.
Obama will ruin the party. Hillary Clinton had years of experience and substance. Instead you went with a dreamer.
Joe Lieberman would be a wonderful choice for VP. For either candidate. But since the party turned it’s back on our history and the Clinton’s ticket, I would feel better if McCain picked a tolerable VP who would unite us all, and show that the cons party has moved away from the extreme.

Add to that the following:
McCain knows nothing about the racial problems of our country. McCain knows nothing about middle class people. McCain knows nothing about how rough it is to stay employed in a bad economy. McCain knows nothing about working people losing their homes…. The list is never ending.
Is McCain really ready for the US presidency?!!?

kfg, some may be able to do that, I wouldn’t know, but….fact is you can’t, no matter what you have to try with, gum or anything else.
Is that why you are living on the farm?
Go play in the traffic boxlicker.
I’m taking Walker’s advise.
“It requires really sticky gum, two German shepherds and a trampoline. A frozen Hershey bar helps.”
Roll me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians!
You seem singularly interested in attacking my pal farmgrrl there boxy.
No posts to the thread except to hit at her?
You’ve earned my attention.
I don’t think you will much enjoy it.
He’s already admitted his fantasy about me. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww! I’m not playing into it tonight.
Like I said boxy, go play in the traffic.
I dont indulge poodle dancers. Nor do Isuffer them gladly!
It’s illustrative.
Boxy did not post here. UNTIL he could hit at someone….
who he is afraid of.
I think he posted elsewhere that he will not vote FOR McCain so much as he will vote against Obama.
That is where he starts his offensive.
Sucks to be him is my take.
SO, he needed to lash out.
I’ve come to know that I must share tether paul “Franklin”
I’ve been looking for a new pinata.
Mccain’s starting to sound like a one trick pony, relating his pow captivity to any and everything. His story is going to get stale very quickly.
This time it’s to his number of houses!

” I may not know how many houses I own, but I Did Stay at The Hotel Hilton!”
Sometimes I think that people “misunderestimate” Franklin.

When Ayers stood on an American Flag and when Ayers said he had not blown up enough bombs:
Ayers was Obama’s BOSS!
============================================
When Ayers was doing that stuff, Obama wasnt OLD enough to even have a boss!!
Will you at least try to act like you know how to read a calendar???
Franklin, how much Elastic does your political BS have in it??? Ayers is older than I am…. and I was just a teenager when he was doing his THING…. way back then…. Good grief, the 68 convention riots were FORTY (40) YEARS ago!!
“Nor do Isuffer[sic] them gladly!”
kfg,
Good…it is my intention you not suffer gladly. I’m trying to do you a favor examining your character. Thanks for the complement.
Your own morality forces your suffering.
You post; “It requires really sticky gum, two German shepherds and a trampoline. A frozen Hershey bar helps.”
Roll me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians!”
Humor, or your own depraved lust?
