I checked this old thread out of curiousity, and was surprised to see how many people really believed college freshman gave these answers. PT Barnum was right. ;-)

Sometimes it helps to read The (Fabulous) Article.

It is the creation of Beloit’s Keefer Professor of the Humanities Tom McBride and Public Affairs Director Ron Nief.

And the continuing over-the-top tone of the article makes this clear. It’s self-evident that no students were actually interviewed. It’s satire, folks.

They’re just observing that “For these students, Sammy Davis Jr., Jim Henson, Ryan White, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Freddy Krueger have always been dead.”

That picture of Wayne Newton should be used as a deterent to people who are thinking about getting plastic surgery. He looks horrible..and so does Kenny Rodgers and Pricilla Presley. What the hell were they thinking?

Sorry I didn’t respond to this earlier. According to Arizona law one must not be married when applying for a marriage license or else the person has committed to crime of bigamy. McCain, while still married, filed the marriage application and put on the application that he wasn’t married. He lied on a government document and committed the crime of bigamy in Arizona.

Bigamy, a felony in Arizona, has been prosecuted by the Attorney General as recently as this year. However, in Republican eyes cheating on your wife, committing adultery and bigamy isn’t a crime, unless a Democrat does it.

I got into trouble using my Dad’s slide rule in the 7th grade. I liked the speed in doing long multiplication/division problems; my teacher didn’t appreciate the accuracy; she won.

My dad used a slide rule even after computers.His is still in his desk drawer right where he left after futiley trying to explain how it works to my son. Think I’ll hang on to it and wait for Antique Roadshow to come around

Sure wish I had owned a laptop in college. I wore out a manual typewriter in 3 years. Used erasable paper for class papers…had to measure and make a very light pencil mark on the paper to tell me where to start/stop typing. Spell check? It was called Webster’s.

I think the computer IS their pencil. And they use it as easily and effectively as we used our pencils. It is as much a tool to get their work done as our pencils were our tools.
