Even if Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is passed over as Barack Obama’s running mate, she’ll have a prominent role in the coming days as co-chairwoman of the Democratic National Convention. For example, it fell to Sebelius Monday to unveil the themes and key speakers for the convention in Denver:
– Aug. 25, “One Nation” theme, with a speech by Michelle Obama.
– Aug. 26, “Renewing America’s Promise,” Sen. Hillary Clinton.
– Aug. 27, “Securing America’s Future,” acceptance speech by vice presidential nominee.
– Aug. 28, “Change You Can Believe In,” Obama’s acceptance speech.
Sebelius said in a statement, “From Monday through Thursday, our convention program will highlight the people of this country who want positive change and who believe Barack Obama is the leader who will listen to their concerns and get our country moving in the right direction again.”

I’m thrilled to see the new democratic platform- anyone who hasn’t seen it should look here.
http://www.magnetmail.net/images/clients/BPWUSA/attach/2008_Democratic_Platform_080808.pdf
THIS is why America should be behind the Democrats this year. I couldn’t ask for more.
THIS is why America should be behind the Democrats this year. I couldn’t ask for more.
Your party the democrats has more traitors than any other group in American history at this time. See you at the polls.
PMom,
Just read through it and you are right,IF these plans can be put into action one couldn’t ask for more. Being the father of a vet I especially liked the plank on their treatment, which under this admin has been nothing less than shameful
Are they traitors don because they don’t march in lockstep with what you think is right? I used to be like you but I opened my eyes to what was going on around me and didn’t like what I saw.
“Your party the democrats has more traitors than any other group in American history at this time. See you at the polls.”
More so that the rebels in the American Revolution who committed treason against the British Crown? Well, if the Democrats are going to be put in the same camp as the American revolutionaries to bring us more freedom from an oppressive King George then I’ll happily agree with you.
They forgot one of the themes -
August 24 “I hope that the far left libs don’t embarrass us with their marches and protests and divide the Democrats.”
HEHEHE,
Former president Clinton is scheduled to speak on Wednesday night. I wonder what the theme will be that night? Why are they keeping that quiet?
The biggest question right now is ‘will Hillary’s name be put in nomination?’ Any news on that, Kathleen?
What a zoo!
The theme for the Republican convention is 4 more years of the same with Mcsame.
Note that DJ had nothing of substance to offer. Such as with the platform HE agrees with.
How’s that “contract with america” going for you.
What do you think, P-Mom? Are they going to nominate Hillary?
Aug. 27, “Securing America’s Future,” That’s the night that Bill is speaking in prime time, what do you sppose he’s going to talk about?
I predict he will use “I”, “me” and other personal pronouns at least 50 times and talk for at least an hour. Any bets?
“– Aug. 25, “One Nation” theme, with a speech by Michelle Obama.”
How can “One Nation” be an agenda for Michelle Obama, let alone the democratic party. The Dems only want it there way, they never want to work with the Republicans. I think what the Democrats in the Congress did along with Pelosi lately was a perfect example of why this country is being divided. They shut down and turned off the lights, in fact they turned off Americans. Until both parties start working together, we will not be One Nation but a Nation Divided.
– Aug. 26, “Renewing America’s Promise,” Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Of all the people to give this speech. Excuse me but the Clintons had their chance to Renew America’s Promise and failed. I don’t think they or the current democrat party even know what America’s Promise is. We don’t need government controlling our every move, we were promised Freedom. That is freedom of choice and freedom of speech, it is clear that they do not want either for us. What do you think the hate crime bill is all about. They will shut down anyone who doesn’t agree with them, just like they did in Congress with Pelosi. In addition, they want to enforce the “Fairness Doctrine”, which they will use to shut down any news media outlet that doesn’t spew their democratic, excuse me communistic, talking points.
– Aug. 27, “Securing America’s Future,” acceptance speech by vice presidential nominee.
Let me guess, this one is saved for the one and only Sebellius, yuk and barfarama. She has been worthless. Her future is to not allow any American businesses to build in KS if they don’t meet her political agenda. She has done nothing for our state when it comes to lowering taxes, creating jobs, education or social issues. Why would you want that kind of future for the whole country.
– Aug. 28, “Change You Can Believe In,” Obama’s acceptance speech.
First he says he wants to change America then he says America is the greatest country. Will he make up his mind. Maybe that is the change, he is always changing his mind.
I do not believe that Universal Health Care is a good change. I do not believe raising taxes on those who make $42,000 and above a good change, we can barely afford to live at that income as it is. And I don’t think he will protect America, he is a democrat, they still think they can make friends with the enemy by playing nice.
Grow up, there are those that hate you because you have freedom and they will take that freedom away from YOU! YOU ARE AMERICANS, they aren’t going to take the time to find out if you are a democrat. And if you admit it to them, you will be the first to die. Anyone who would sell out their own countrymen, would surely sell out the enemy too and they know it.
All of this blathering about what Bill will say is funny.
He’ll be Bill Clinton. He’ll give a Clintonesque speech, pointing out the difference between the Dem nominee and the other guy, like he did in 2004. He’s good at that kind of thing.
Amazing how adept people have gotten at manufacturing issues, aided and abetted by the tabloid press. But enjoy your petty little snipes while you can.
BShunter:
Glad you finally agree that freedom of CHOICE is good. Whew, and I thought you were going to try to tell us that your fundy religious beliefs were what was good for all of us again.
Sebelius represented Kansans by turning down the Coal plant.
Are you seriously SERIOUSLY going to sit here and whine about how the dems won’t work with the republicans when the republicans have filibustered nearly 100 times this session? Do you remember when the cons held the majority and threatened to KILL the filibuster altogether because the dems stood firm on one major issue?
The thing I don’t like about Obama is his willingness to bring you nutjobs to the table. Might as well offer Phred Phelps a spot- you’re all the same.
As much as you hate it, the fact still remains that the Clintons ran this country into GREAT PROSPERITY AND PEACE. Americans had MORE, and your people have ran it into WAR AND DISPAIR.
As far as I’m concerned BS, you are the one trying to take away our freedoms and you’re a bigger threat than anyone else.
Democrats for Life conceded complete and utter defeat and ouster from the entirely pro-abortion Democrat Party, and will not even attempt to include a Big Tent conscience clause in the 2008 platform, or the word “rare.”
Charade’s over.
Michelle Obama “One Nation”
should debate:
John Edwards “Two Americas”
Note to: Political_mama
The War of the Worlds (starring Tom Cruise)
was NOT a documentary…..
Political Mama,
I believe you misunderstood me. I said that God gave us that choice. He clearly states that in the Bible. When you think about it, you have a lot of freedom but with that freedom comes responsibility. I accept it as fact that a lot of people won’t accept that they are sinners and accept Jesus as their Savior and ask the Holy Spirit to enter into their life. This is because God has told us that.
However, as a human being, it is disturbing to me to know that a lot of people I know and don’t know will …I hate to say it but it’s true…. go to hell. I don’t want to be one of those people and I don’t want anybody else to either.
I know that non-Christians think that Christians are trying to force them to become Christians but in reality no one can force anyone to become a Christian. That is each person’s choice. I think it might just feel like you are being forced because the Holy Spirit is calling you. At that point, some people say yes and some say no. It is sad but sometimes people will never say yes.
I know that a lot of people think if they don’t believe in God then they won’t go to heaven or hell. But you can’t wish away something that will be.
I truly believe that the freedom we have in America came at the hand of God. Just think about, in other countries you are persecuted or even executed if you do not accept their God. Here in America, you don’t have that. You have freedom of choice. I hope we can stay that way too but sometimes I feel that the odds are against us.
There are many executions of Christians across the nations. That is because they won’t accept the God of that country. Just think what would happen if the terrorists do attack and this time win. They do no like Americans, they call us infodels because we are not following Allah. I will not deny my God even if I have to die. The question then will be: 1. Will you accept Allah and die for God or 2. Will you accept Allah and die for nothing?
At this point, I hope you know that I was not trying to be pushy or a smartelic. I just want to be truthful. I agree with some of these people when they say we should quit cutting each other down and calling each other names. I think I will honestly try to do that.
Hunter, you can believe that all you want. More power to you. Your comparison of Christians being killed because of their belief is exactly WHY I want to keep your religion out of my rights in America.
I was a conservative Christian once, and I know full well why you believe as you do. My religion pretty much forbid us to be involved in politics however. We were ‘not of this world’. I agree with that perspective when it comes to religious beliefs. Keep them where they belong.
Perhaps that is why I love doing all those things I was forbidden to do as a Christian. WOW it’s liberating to not feel guilt. To me, Christianity is hell. It is constant denial, denial, denial. Denial about what is really happening around you.
The reason I’m pro-choice is many. For one, I don’t believe I have the right to impose my belief of what is right on anyone. You can offer advice. Give examples of what your life experience has been…but ultimately, the person living it is the one who has to live it. And this is what I cannot stand about your side. You DO wish to impose your brand of belief on everyone around you- because you are afraid for them, and you have to admit that you are afraid that you will be judged for not trying to ’save’ them. I know you don’t see it as selfish- but that is exactly what it is.
I always find it hypocritical when one speaks of God and our country. I saw something on tv the other day about Falwell saying that we have our nation because of God…and I said “yeah because all the other nations in the world are because of Satan”. I also think its odd that we are a world- our country wasn’t even known about in Jesus’s time- or when he was supposedly alive. And yet, we’ve been giving the blessings from God why? Our founders were deists, our people were running away from religious persecution. Did the Christian in Zimbabwe get any less attention than you just because you’re an American?
There are plenty of Christians out there who do not feel the need to impose upon others. Tell me something, do you ever watch these evangelists on tv, and think they’re scammers? I really hope so- because if not- you are really REALLY snowed.
So the way you look at those ’scammers’ is the exact same way I look at your religion.
“He clearly states that in the Bible.”
Which parts did “HE” write?
According to some people He clearly states things in the Koran.
It’ll be good for the image of Kansas to be projected on the national television as something other than some backward, creationist state, that thinks it’s ok for teenage boys to receive oral sex from girls, but would prosecute them if the did a 69!
Hey, Gov. per chance you or one of your aides are reading this, the Convention would be a good time to plug the Boeing Tanker competition.
A stark difference to the other party’s guy!
The beauty of it, is the ‘baman’s wouldn’t have a chance to counter promoting NOC/EADS! You could also mention the number of jobs both in the South and in Ks. that Mccain’s actions have caused to be in jeopardy.
Political Mama,
I am sorry that you had a bad experience as a Christian. That is why I always say you want to be careful of the church you go to. There are so many that are not doing what is right by God. Having a lot of rules without love always leads to rebellion. I think that love comes first.
And please don’t put me in the same basket with the Christians you may have known. You don’t know me. I am not afraid of the people you would think that I am afraid of. I will not go into the details of my life but I can tell you that I have been there.
I have done things that the Christians you associated with would have probably judged me so. I am not to judge, God says so. He will be the ultimate judge. Because I have been there too, I know how it is. But that doesn’t mean that I am going to say it’s okay to do it just because I did it. If that were the case, then everything would be okay. But when I became a Christian I found out that it wasn’t. However, I am not under condemnation, that is from Satan. God forgives and He did. That is the real freedom.
I wasn’t really into politics until I found out that politics got into our faith. I say that these issues came about with God before they came about with our government. Our government hasn’t been around that long. Truthfully, I don’t care to get into government, but when they start trying to tell me how I have to live then that is when I care.
Oh yeah, I do not watch evangelists on tv. I read my Bible and I go to Bible studies and Sunday School. I have found a new church with a really good preacher who isn’t afraid to speak the words in the Bible. I find it very refreshing. I think it is up to each person to find out the truth themselves. Listening to an evangelist on the tv to find out the truth about God is like listening to the mainstream media to find the truth about news.
“plug the Boeing Tanker competition”
WHY? We have an Airbus presence in Wichita; pwehaps we should tryor more and perhaps even a contract for Spirit.
http://www.kansas.com/business/updates/story/491976.html
Boeing delay on Italy, Japan tankers may harm bid for U.S. work
Italy will penalize Boeing Co. for being three years late in delivering the first of four aerial refueling tankers.
Richard Aboulafia of the Teal Group defense industry consulting firm in Fairfax, Va., said delays on these two programs “have prompted Boeing to play defense against charges of ‘underperformance’ and therefore a high risk of technical difficulties on the U.S. program.”
Boeing’s Dec. 2002 contract with Italy promised the first tanker by Nov. 2005. Delivery now is set for November, three years late, with the second slated for delivery in December, or 21 months late. Boeing expects the third and fourth planes to be delivered at least 16 months and 12 months late, respectively.
Should have the bugs worked out of the program by now.
Now how do you know that my ex faith was not based in love? It was probably the MOST loving and most caring people I knew. They were not hateful about anything.
I’m glad you’re peaceful. I’m quite happy too. What I like most about it, is that I learned that I can be a good and moral person without needing a threat to do so. That took awhile to learn after I ’sowed my wild oats’ after leaving faith.
I always felt I was inept as a Christian because I would pray and pray for God to make me want to be a better person, to not have bad thoughts, to behave correctly.
Isn’t it funny that after I lost faith, that’s when I finally found those things.
Political Mama, I apologize, I got the impression that you had a bad experience because of the things you said, such as the follwing:
————-
To me, Christianity is hell. It is constant denial, denial, denial. Denial about what is really happening around you.
You DO wish to impose your brand of belief on everyone around you
So the way you look at those ’scammers’ is the exact same way I look at your religion.
————-
I don’t know why you think I care if you are a Christian or not. Just because I share my political or religious beliefs does not mean that I want you to think the way I do. IT IS OKAY IF YOU ARE DIFFERENT.
That is why I am the BorgHunter. The Borg(Star Trek: Next Generation) are a race of beings that are part machine and part of other races that they have assimilated from other planets. They conquer planets then assimilate the people into their collective where they are all linked to the queen. They all think as one, they are not individuals. They do not know how to act or think on their own.
I look for those who tend to think alike and give them a different perspective than what they know. Just because I am telling you what I believe DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THE SAME WAY. Unlike the Borg and others like them, I do not try to change your mind. Like I said, it is not my job to convince you to think like I do. That is not what we should do. That is what Hitler did and it went very wrong.
That’s fine, we’re at a good understanding then.
And sadly, I knew de Borgha meaning. I had a friend who spoke the language.
So when I refer to Christians, remember that I am referring to FUNDAMENTALIST Christians. I try to say it often, but sometimes it gets left out.
I’m sure from time to time I have insulted Chas without meaning to. I respect his faith. I’m glad that he knows I’m never referring to Christians like him.
The hell of guilt is what I refer to in the denial. Denial of being human with wants and desires and needs. Those aren’t sins, they’re part of being human. The trials and tribulations are part of growing up. How we learn. I feel like after I really started questioning religion and realized that my questions only led to bizarre unrealistic answers, was I free to let go of that guilt. And see things for how they really were.
Kindof like eating from the tree….
*snicker*
