Sebelius came really close

An anonymous “Obama insider” was quoted on the American Spectator’s Washington Prowler blog as saying that Barack Obama “really wanted (Kansas Gov. Kathleen) Sebelius, and if our European tour had played better here at home, she might have been the pick.” The source said that post-tour polling indicated “we needed the foreign policy on the bottom of the ticket more than we want to admit.”

Another Democratic wannabe with no core values who wants to govern by polls. The empty suited Obambi certainly lacks gravitas.

Another bitter Republican with no sense of pride who wants to govern by a dictatorship. The empty-headed AlanB certainly lacks distinction.

How very typical – don’t make a move without consulting the polls.

    Democrat party 101.

Yesterday’s thread was titled, “Sebelius came close.” Today’s is titled, “Sebelius came really close.” Can’t wait until tomorrow to see what new, improved and inventive ways can entice bloggers to talk about how close Sebelius came to “something.”

Yeah, I’m sure the American Spectator is a credible source for information from anonymous Obama insiders.

Here’s the front page of Rhonda’s wonderful source:

FOr those not familiar, the AS is a hard-right rag of opinion that makes the Mooney Times look credible by comparison.

It is a change Rage. Usually, the source on this blog is Slate, the NYT, or some other lefty biased rag.

Missing the point, Outie. If the NYT is indeed some lefty rag (notice that didn’t stop them from cheerleading the war), then they might have a better shot at getting good info.

The Spectator is a piece of crap.

The Times ia a newspaper. Judith Miller scandal notwithstanding.

But since the NYT also suggested Sebelius “came close” (in a different way), hey, I’m perfectly prepared not to believe them elther.

    Judith Miller and all.

No, they just have to explain why they got all their hopes up and were convinced to vote for Obama for nothing.

I’m telling you- watch for it- that’ll be the new strategy- if you want to win- tell certain states they’re on the short list for something important.

Tear ‘em down PMom — at every turn, every chance, help elect McCain. It will soothe your soul!

Why don’t you go into a rant about how Michelle’s facial expressions were so whatever you think they were last night? Or she sat in some way that made you so angry and hurt and disappointed. Maybe somebody missed that!

Never mind that Hillary’s words are now being used in attack ads FOR McCain. I’m sure if your husband had been an applicant for a job and another applicant’s words were so perfectly insulting you would just adore that person and the words used against your hubby!

Linda, with all due respect, before I returned to the blog after The Speech, I thought Michelle was grimacing and looking especially disgusted even when Hillary was praising her husband. I thought to myself, “WTF? WHAT does she want? Hillary to be dead?”

Mark my words, Michelle will prove to be a problem again.

  18. Posted August 27, 2008 at 11:04 am | Permalink

I mean geez, if Hillary can forgive and forget, why cant Michelle? I thought it was the obamas that wanted unity? Michelle? Apparently not so much.

I don’t know her facial expressions well enough to interpret them. I can imagine that she was anxious, nervous, maybe scared. They’ve lived through 19 months of applying for this job. Her hubby’s biggest critic was speaking. I usually feel more intense emotional response when a loved one is criticized than when someone finds fault with me personally. I can understand that Michelle is human and had been hurt by Hillary.

I’ve also tried very hard to be as understanding as possible. I’ve offered encouragement and made it clear that who one votes for is their very own personal decision. I’ve made it clear about who I respect enough to know they’ve thought out that decision well and I support them still.

I thought the criticisms of Michelle were unnecessary.

But we Democrats have to be good at something! We haven’t proven to be good at getting elected!

The only opportunity I’ve had to cast a vote in this presidential selection process was when I “stood for” Hillary last February in the Kansas Democratic caucus. I am one of those 18 million.

I changed my mind so maybe an accurate number would be 18 million minus one, or maybe it’s minus more, or plus more. Who knows who changed their minds and in what numbers or directions?

What we know is either McCain or Obama will be elected — they are the candidates of the Republican and Democratic parties. Other candidates don’t stand a chance.

I hear many Republicans express dissatisfaction with their party’s candidate, every day. And always, without fail, they say their vote will be cast for McCain. Whatever it is they see as virtues of the Republican Party (and don’t ask me ’cause I can’t find any!) unite them and they get their candidates elected because of that!

These are people who aren’t even honorable enough to vote for America! Their vote is going for the guy with the “R” after his name even if that is the poorest choice. There are still defenders of the indefensible bush! Go figure that one in reality! Harder economic times, more war, death and destruction? None of that matters — they WON! Hooray! They won! They may still get to save the snowflake babies or keep us safer from gay marriage in places we’re still in danger! They’ll get the Constitution rewritten to more resemble the Bible some year soon if they try hard enough, vote Republican often enough. They don’t understand what a theocracy is — ’cause, ya know, it’s Christian and that’s different! They don’t know they’ve been used in the name of God!

We aren’t members of an organized party — we’re Democrats! (hats off to Will Rogers!) And we do an excellent job of governing! America is truly in the best of hands under Democratic majorities.

We sure could use some lessons on how to get elected! I do understand that many think this year’s candidate will ruin our chances of a successful election even further than our innate skills seem to accomplish. What I can’t understand is WHY those reduced chances wold make any Democrat want to help out the Republicans? As I’ve said, they don’t need help, they know how to get elected! It’s the governing they suck at!

Well said Linda. If anything gets me to vote for obama, it will be the “No How, No Way, No Mcsame appointments to SCOTUS” thingy!

  22. Posted August 27, 2008 at 12:44 pm | Permalink

…and back to the subject of the thread…

I think governor “leadership” has seen her star rise as far as it will go on the national stage. Given her flop of a response to the SOTU, and given her, um, uninspiring speech last night, the democrats are going to look elsewhere for the next woman president. She may make it to the senate, or a cabinet position, but I think she’s been given two chances to impress the country as a campaigner. If she botches one more chance to make an impression at the national podium?

Well, three strikes and you are OUT!
