If Barack Obama intends to name Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as his running mate, believing he can make the case that she “embodies the post-partisan style of governing that he wants to bring to Washington,” he’d better do so soon, argues Walter Shapiro on Salon.com: “A surprise Sebelius selection in Denver could prompt a remnant of hard-core Hillary supporters — affronted that Clinton was not the woman on the ticket — to threaten a floor fight or a walkout, which would be riveting television but risky political imagery.”

Damn right. We won’t be ignored.
I think expectations for a Clinton v.p. have greatly diminished. Don’t think it would be such a shocker.
I’m beginning to think Richardson is the best choice.
Considering the Russian/Georgian situation, Richardson’s foreign policy credentials are important. He’s the popular governor of a swing state and wouldn’t take another Democrat out of the Senate. He’s Hispanic.
Neither Clinton not Sebelius would be a good choice. Senator Clinton is FAR too important as a Senator. Sebelius does not have the national stature.
I’ve frequently posited that a presidential candidate should float names of potential cabinet members during the campaign.
For instance, were Obama to let people know he’d consider, say, Wes Clark as Secretary of Defense, or Sebelius at HEW, or Warren Buffet at Treasury, Biden as Secretary of State, et cetera.
No absolute commitment necessary. But it would reveal a style of decision-making and (as would inevitably happen) when the Republic Party snipes at those choices, there are many diffuse targets for attack, which would deflect their resources to many targets, not just the presidential candidate.
If we’ve learned anything from George WMD Bush’s reign of error, it’s that subordinates — Cheney, Rumsfeld, Skooter Libby, ad nauseum — have a lot of power to direct public policies.
With high energy costs, Sebelius stood in the way of cheap, clean coal!
With Obama trying to hedge, on the abortion issue, Sebelius entertains late term abortionist George Tiller, in the Governors mansion.
If Obama does pick Kathleen Sebelius?
Obama is, truly, finished.
Monkey
Yes, “People are policy” —
And all we really know about green-horn, inexperienced Obama, is that he has a bunch of kooky, radical and criminal friends.
Sigh…
This was the Dems election to lose or win.
And a prospective nominee has been chosen who ran on a strategy to win the primary but lose electorally in the fall.
And if THAT were not enough, the prospective nominee continues to stick his thumb in the eye of half the party.
And if THAT were not enough, the prospective nominee’s supporters continue to help him make mistakes.
Well, at least we will have the House and Senate.
We need the most apt to lead in the VP slot. That’s what it is for. They’re not inert people. Its Clinton or the highway for me.
Its like I say with the republican party- they consistently stand behind their party even when they are making errors. I will not follow suit.
Alfred E. Neuman would be a better match for Mr. Obama’s intellect. Oprah or Rev. Al would probably be available as well.
Alfred E. Neuman position became unavailable with the rise of GWB.
“Its Clinton or the highway for me.”
So PeeMom is quitting the Democrat party if Hill isn’t the VP nominee?
I’m gonna have to call BS on that one.
Call what you want, I’m already voting for Lynn Jenkins.
Slowly.
One step at a time.
You’re getting smarter.

“sunflower5″ comes in with –
“Moneyhawk: did you go through an ugly divorce? You are such a negative person.
Take it easy once in awhile.”
What brought that on, pray tell?
There is no way the DNC will select a woman as the VP nominee. They think voters are racist, bigots, sexists, etc. In their minds it is already a big enough stretch to ask the average voter to vote for a black man. In no way would they add, “and a woman.”
Maybe we will get lucky they will nominate a ‘gay black muslim female’. At least then the debates would be worth watching.
As the familiar saying: “War – An act of violence whose object is to constrain the enemy, to accomplish our will.” (Carl von Clausewitz)!!
