Obama quietly goes negative

While Barack Obama is running national campaign advertisements during the Olympics that stress positive messages, he has quietly started airing negative ads in key swing states. “It’s a pretty smart, high-low, good cop/bad cop strategy,” one media analyst told the New York Times. One ad mocks McCain economics: “Support George Bush 95 percent of the time; keep spending $10 billion a month for the war in Iraq.” The other unfairly uses some older clips of McCain to paint him as out of touch about the economy.

VT, as noted in previous links today, mcsame is doing a better job with his base than obama. If obama doesnt unite his base, he has little hope of uniting the country. Mcsame’s base will come home to vote, no matter what he does. Democrats? Not so much. Of course, the “anyone but Hillary” chorus of the democratic party might be just as inclined to stay home as the Hillary supporters.

Painting Hillary as the bad seed has tied a knot for obama that isnt going to be easy to untie.

Herding cats and all. I think hubris will prevent obama from picking Hillary. And good political instinct will keep her from accepting!

I’ve always considered Joe Lieberman as a one-trick pony; he’s the Distinguished Senator from Jerusalem. I don’t know squat about the details of Zionism, and while I realize the Jewish people tend to vote pro-Israel, even when Israel behaves…”too” Jewish.

Most Americans I know who are Jewish are in eye-rolling mode. “Let’s just sit down and figure something out.”

But the twice-born Republic Party fanatics won’t have it and the once-born fundamentalist Israelis won’t have it and the Palestinians are sick of this shit but no one else is hiring…

Golda Meir used to joke that the Jews couldn’t be God’s Chosen People because the Promised Land was the one piece of real estate in the Middle East that didn’t have oil.

Try telling that joke today to an Evangelical, a Zionist, Osama bin Laden… any religious fundamentalist.

I frankly don’t understand what Joe Lieberman gives John S (for “Senile”) McCain the Third (for Shrub’s 3rd term) beyond reminding the old man who our enemy is in Iraq.

I think most voters and non-registered people are too apathetic to care this year. Part of the vote–the youth, especially–may be larger, but the middle-agers are doing a lot of sighing and not finding a candidate they really care to vote for.

    But we’ll see.

I noticed a headline that said McCain has pulled ahead in a poll. At this point in time, I don’t put a lot of stock in polls. Besides, they don’t count anyway.

Things will begin to pick up soon. I have yet to see a McCain sticker in this city. I have my Obama one on my car already. I’ve only seen one other. Nobody is really into this election. Too many are worried about paying bills and don’t feel any candidate is going to help them be able to do that.

Look how well it was hidden in Reagan. It’s possible. His short, practiced sounding answers with no elaboration at the church thing last Saturday made me wonder. The onlt time he didn’t say just a few words was when he was retelling one of his “stories.” I’ve heard them often enough I could have told them and I didn’t (sic) live them.

I’ve seen him several places this week (seen as in on television) and he is looking down at notes. It is very obvious! Very stilted.

    The debates will be interesting.

I still say keep a camera on him at all times and an open mic at his mouth. He will do himself in.

1,260,000 dodos! and soooo cute! Look I found something along the lines of dods here:

    Ancient web spins evolution story

The oldest-known spider web with prey still entrapped has been found preserved in a chunk of amber in Spain.

The mesh of silk strands - snaring the remains of a fly, beetle, mite and wasp - dates back 110 million years to the time of the dinosaurs.

The fossil web appears to have been designed along the same lines as the round nets woven by modern spiders.

The find, described in Science, sheds light on the early evolution of spiders and the insects they fed on.

The web consists of some 26 silk strands preserved in a thin layer of amber together with an arachnid’s prey.

“I believe wilki said there are 30 languages spoken in Afghanistan, sounds like the inspiration for the tower of babel.”

Genesis 11:4. God seeing what the people were doing, confused their languages and scattered the people throughout the earth.

Well, you know, some think He might do something about what’s going on in that neck of the woods again! I think if an Omnipotent being were to intervene some would be really surprised at how!
